Easy Way to Resize Photos for Wordpress

If you have a Wordpress real estate website, you obviously will be installing plenty of listing photos. Some of you might not have Adobe Photoshop or other photo editors installed on your computer. You might have Adobe photoshop, but if you are an old goat like me, you might find it overwhelming and don’t have time to spend on yet another learning curve.

Why do we resize real estate photos for Wordpress? If your photos are super large, they might not even upload to Wordpress. If you do install large photos on your real estate website, your visitors will experience a long load time. If you have a version of Thesis that automatically crops thumbnails, large pictures will overlap other areas of your page.

Free Methods for Resizing Photos

I use a Mac, and I hardly ever use Photoshop. Opening a photo with the Preview application, and then selecting “resize photo” works just fine for my purposes.

What Size of Photo Does Your Wordpress Site require?

It depends on your theme and where you wish to install it. For most of my agentblogbuzz.com customers who are using Thesis, the ideal size is 460 px wide. If you change the width of an image, the program will automatically adjust the height to the correct proportions. If you are unsure of what size to use, please contact me.

In all cases, reduce the resolution to 72dpi to ensure faster page loading times.

My Minneapolis real estate site at http://RealEstateTwinCities.NET ranks at or near the top of page one of Google for a large number of major real estate keywords, i.e:

etc…

These are some major real estate keywords and are also the most obvious ones. Of course it would be easy for me to find a few keywords that the site ranks for and then show them to you. Lots of people can do that.
