How it all got started

2013-05-22T10:44:00.002-07:00

How it all started?

In the late 2010, Tommy showed Robin his new Ipod Touch, where one could record movies in 720p. And they talked about making a action movie, but with the added effect of using fruits as weapons. And so they filmed a short sketch, called Fruit Wars.

Then they did a sequel, Fruit Wars II (2011). And then they got more serious and got a Canon 600D. They invited Markus to make a movie with them. Markus brought some fake weapons / soft air guns. And they created the short movie Apple Wars.

Later on they made another short movie called SuperBadAss (inspired by the comedy Superbad).

It was a short comedy sketch. And we had a lot of fun doing it. It was the first movie we made were we used a script. Tommy wrote the script in two days.

The movie was about two friends trying to fix mothers computer who Robin accidently destroys. he tries to fix it, but it turns out to be unfixable.

However they used a Beck song in the beginning of the movie and realized that to make movies you have to completely do everything yourself.

So from that moment, AgnosCinema only uses its own music tracks.

But in early 2012, they decided to make a "real" movie. Robin asked Tommy what kind of movie he wanted to make, and Tommy wanted to make a movie with action and excitement. Tommy wrote the script for what would be called the Consultant. They invited another actor, David. They had some help making the movie from Tommys friend Sävis, who composed a music track earlier for another movie.

Today, AgnosCinema concists of
Tommy, Robin, Markus and David.

We make movies, because we simply love making movies. We don't make money, we make movies, we try to make good movies, and most importantly, we try to have a great time doing our movies.

We hope to take on bigger and bigger projects.

At the moment we are working on a big movie project called "The Deserters". It is a movie where we have a big budget for the movie, as far as movie making goes. Especially considering that we will not be making money.

We don't even have adds on all videos that we post on YouTube.

Interview with Don Dickson

The deserters teaser (heart beat)

2013-03-29T23:45:00.003-07:00

Made a new teaser. And basically just trying different color grading techniques. But notice that all shots have a "glow". I tried to make something called warp sharpening. It is basically anti alasing (a gamer term).

Fruit wars (the 2013 remastered edition)

2013-02-06T05:46:00.002-08:00

Here is a remastered edition of the first agnoscinema movie, fruit wars.
We did some better colorgrading, more sound effects, and at the end, som behind the scenes shots.

Enjoy.

The official AgnosCinema logo 2013

2013-01-25T05:37:00.001-08:00

Here is the new AgnosCinema logotype. It is a lot nicer than last one.
This is the first clip you will see, when you start watching "the Deserters".

colorgrading the directors cut of "the consultant"

2013-01-25T01:19:00.001-08:00

here is a clip where we show our colorgrading techniques on the new release of the consultant, which was originally released last year. But this year we are making a lot of enhancements.

We call it: the Consultant - remastered and extended directors cut

Usually in Hollywood they make colorgrading to correct and to enhance scenes. Like a certain color tone, or using a spot light effect to highlight what the viewer should be focusing on. But in our case, we also have some shots where you can see things like camera equipment or bad lighting. The new version of the consultant will be a longer, have better special effects, have a much more crisp and superior image quality.

Here you can enjoy a color grading sample. Notice the spot light effect, which is a bit to much, but it is to show you the difference between the clips. also notice how we use the famous "teal & orange" colorgrading, that you can see in many movies, like lord of the rings, matrix, transformers (a very intense teal & orange).

Behind the scenes - The siberia massacre scene (the Deserters)

2013-01-16T13:19:00.005-08:00

And here are some behind the scenes shots from the first day of shooting this year (2013).

We were a bit afraid that there wasn't gonna be any snow, and a important flashback scene wasn't gonna be filmed, since we plan to release the movie before next winter. But suddenly out of the blue, there came a lot of snow and we packed and made the scene.

Ps. A funny thing, we shot this scene on the same hill where we shot the original "fruit wars" movie. So it was a bit nostalgic.

Robin was co-directing this scene. Who by the way has joined the soundtrack team for this movie. The movie now has 3 soundtrack composers. Mark, Robin and Mathias. I think that they complete each other and give the movie a more dynamic emotion, since all composers work in three very different ways.

We had a lot of fun shooting this scene. But it was so cold.

We could not feel our feet or hands after 2 hours in the cold.

Here, Mark is preparing for his scene as a "bad guy".

Here the director (Tommy) is giving instructions on how he wants the scene to be shot.

Robin completes the director, since he is more into action scenes, he knows a thing or two about weapons and army situations. So again, in AgnosCinema we really complete each other.

A good sense of humor is needed, especially on a cold day as this.

Robin explains another great idea for shooting scenes. He is dynamite when it comes to creative scenes.

I'm not gonna lie, when we finished shooting this scene, our feet and hands were really cold. I could hardly pack the equipment. But the result is gonna be amazing.

2013-01-16T13:09:00.002-08:00

Happy new year and all that good stuff. Here are some movie stills from the first scene we shoot this year. It is a flashback scene, from the character Rilco's past. We won't reveal much more about the scene.

colorgrading results (raw vs. final cut pro x)

2012-12-16T14:09:00.000-08:00

And here is a comparisson, for those of you who want to see the power of Final Cut pro x.

here you can see how well it handles color grading and sharpness control. It is mindblowing, and I am just learning.

ps. forgot to give credit to Mark, who is our main composer. He did the track. I feel lucky to be
able to work with geniuses. I just wish I had someone who would like to get dirty learning After Effects.

The Deserters - Teaser 3 (Epic) FCPx

2012-12-16T11:55:00.000-08:00

This is the remastered 3rd teaser for the movie the Deserters.
Using new software (final cut pro X).
The colorgrading is a bit intense, but I wanted to make real use of
the colorgrading tools etc.

Enjoy the color grading.

news: a solo project in the works (the last of the fallen roses)

2012-12-13T23:41:00.000-08:00

It is important to understand the inspiration for "the last of the fallen Roses".

Since this summer, I have been developing several projects, mostly for AgnosCinema. And we have begun shooting The Deserters.

But I have been really wanting to try something where I have complete control. When you make a movie, you have to rely on every person who is involved. And mostly, you can't make a movie on your own. But this is the idea I had. What if you had a script that allowed for one person to do everything. One Actor, one director, one editor, one everything.

A lonewolf project?
I plan to write the script, shoot the scenes, and star in the movie. I always do the edit on AgnosCinema movies and will do so here obviously, and I even plan to make the music (which is probably the most scary part). But again, the concept is to make a movie on my own.

The story is about?

This movie is still in early drafting stages. But the story is clear in my head. It isn't a action movie. It is more of a dramatic take on the life of a lonely hitman. I was inspired by movies like Drive, Lost in Translation and Somewhere. Movies where the camera just seems to capture the life of people. The story is very simple and it is about this hitman who has to hide in his apartment after a failed job, and we get to see what lurks in the mind of someone who has a somewhat different lifestyle.

Will there really only be you in this movie?

Yes, but there will be several characters. And, I mention this again, I am writing a script that incapsulates the idea of a "one man show". It is a bit experimental. But it a pet project. My real focus does lie on The Deserters, but since it is snowing in Sweden, we only have a few flashback scenes to shoot during the winter. And the rest of the time, I have for editing.

New equipment to enhance the experience of the Deserters

2012-11-24T13:20:00.004-08:00

We got some new video editing equipment, it has been time to retire
the faithful but depressing Cyberlink Powerdirector, for a more skillful program (final cut pro X).

Just to show you the difference:

Color graded with old Cyberlink PowerDirector

Color graded with Final Cut pro X

Do you see any difference? ;)

The Deserters promotion feature of behind the scenes + teaser nr 2

2012-11-18T10:30:00.001-08:00

Here is a double feature post. A new teaser (the 2nd one) for the Deserters. And also a short behind the scenes feature. To be honest, the music is very Hollywood, and we did not make the music. It makes the movie seem less serious and more bright, but I assure you the end result will be anything but bright and cheerful. I hope you enjoy both features.

Short behind the scenes feature:
