I have purchased a lot of pneumatic cylinders this winter. You know what that means... Lots of pneumatic props for 2011. I will be using my new welder and lots of great ideas to build some great props. I have been able to buy some new mannequins that are automated, as well as static, so lots of great ideas for static props.

acrylic paints and air brush. Turned out pretty sweet huh?

My Try At Paper Mache Pumpkins

Stolloween.com who has come to the Great Lakes Fright Fest for several years and has wowed

us with his paper mache art work inspired me to try my hand at it.

Below are based on his instructional at the above web site.

These start out as plastic bags stuffed with news paper. Then stripped mached with paper mache paste.

The 3-D appearances are paper mache clay.

Several layers are put on with ample time for them to dry in between layers. When over all appearance is

acchived it is hit with a latex flat black coat of paint.

The stem is from a paper towel roll hot glued to the top. The vines are paper towel dipped

in paper mache paste and twisted and placed in desired appearance

When ready hit the whole pumpkin with orange latex using the dry bushing technique. use green latex paint

for vines using dry brushing. When all that is done hit with a heavy layer of Spar Urethane

water seal. HAPPY HAUNTING.

Finished Trees

Here are the painted trees, They were hit with a flat latex black. Then dry brushed with light brown, and light green. Theholes were cut so I can screw the top to the bottom. Then they were decorated and built up with Paper Mache paste. The vines were created with twisted paper towel dipped in paper mache paste.

New Curved Walls for 2010 Haunt

This is an Idea I got after I attended a Haunted Attraction Auction this last spring,

The room had a curved arch to it. Using an arched cut of OSB, and 4X8' laminate bowed to fit it using

clamps and Gorilla Glue, and screws. It think it turned out pretty sweet.

I started by cutting out an arch for the size needed for the length of the

arched hallway. This is done by staking a center point attaching
a rope/wire/string and extending it out the width of the hallway
then mark on your wood to be cut the arch pattern and then cut out.

After cutting 4 arches out, one for the top and bottom of each wall I started attaching 2X4 to the arch.

Measure along the arch and place a mark at the 2' mark

Attach the 1st 2X4 at this mark, use 1 1/2" drywall screws,and Gorilla Glue or similar wood glue.

Continue to 4' and attach 2X4, and at start of arch this is what you should have left over.

I forgot to mention cut each 2X4 down 1" to make up for the two 1/2"OSB boards to keep
your wall at 8'.

My first wall I attached all the 2x4s length wise, then with the need of 2 sections of Laminate I laid the 4' mark 2X4 on its side to allow the panels to but up against each other

Here is the wall without paint.

This is a mural I painted on the curved walls here it is with some airbrushing Started.
You can paint anything on them, or leave them black use your imagination.

Here is the completed wall, in the background you can see the second curved wall being started.

New Haunted Trees for 2010 Haunt

I am designing 3 dilapidated trees to go into a room that is going to appear to be over grown. Here are the step by step photos and how-to commentary.

To design the circles that create the circumfrance of the tree I used an

old trick my dad tought me. You put a nail or screw in the middle of your design

attach a string/wire and stretch it out and attach a pencil/pen/crayon/marker

and then trace a line in a circular pattern. Then cut it out with jig saw or abn saw.

THis is the smaller disk to form the middle and top of tree

This is the larger of the disks to form the base of the tree

Here I have place the smaller disk on the larger and traced an out line

Here i have taken my 1X4 set it up on the outter ring drawn in by the smaller of the

disks drawn in there out line and drilled holes for my scews to

go into.

When you have traced and drilled all of your holes put some wood glue or

Gorilla glue on tops and bottoms of 1X4 and attach to base first. The place your smaller disk on

top and line up to the outside edge of disk and attack with screws.

Now come the part where you need gloves, attach the chicken wire to top and bottom

disks with staple gun, dont be afraid to use some staples.

Now using ban saw or jig saw cut out some curly design(dosent

matter what the look like)

Then cover with more chicken wire. I found making a tube

out of the chicken wire then attaching it made it easier.

The bend to match the shape you made

and attach using a staple gun.

Here is Agonal Haunts 2009 home haunt. We had over 900 visitors, and raised over 300.00 dollars for charity. Next year we wil be totally be revamping our theme.
