~ However, some of our creative residents have created a quaint little vegetable or herb gardens out of their bonus space.  Since Spring has just begun, this is the perfect time to get started in creating your little garden.  Here are the ideal things to plant within the next 30 days:

Beans, Beets, Cabbage, Carrots, Corn, Cucumbers, Herbs (Dill, Basil, Oregano) Lettuce, Melons, Onions, Peas, Peppers, Summer Squash, and Tomatoes.

If you don’t have time to get these planted in April, most of these can still be planted in May as well.

If you just want to stick with grass and flowers, our office will always provide our residents with grass seed.  After you spread the seed and water regularly for a few weeks, you will be amazed how quickly your yard will be full of soft grass.

Maintenance Mania

Thursday, March 21^st was a spectacular day for our one and only Chris Salas CAMT,CPO.  Chris competed in Maintenance Mania competition at the Lubbock Civic Center against 21 of Lubbock’s finest maintenance technicians in the apartment industry.

What is Maintenance Mania?

Maintenance Mania® is a national program offered by the National Apartment Association(NAA) and presenting sponsor HD Supply (HDS), in which maintenance technicians compete against each other in various skill-based games.

Each NAA local affiliate has the opportunity to have their maintenance technicians compete individually to win various local awards and a chance to compete at the National Championship held at the annual NAA Education Conference & Exposition.

Chris has been employed with AG Rentals, LTD since 2003.  This year will mark his 10^th anniversary with our company and we could not be prouder of him with his recent accomplishment.  Chris could compete in San Diego this June against 20 other maintenance technicians from various places within the United States. We will find out within the next few weeks if he qualified for the national event.

Chris is truly an asset to our communities.  He serves as our lead maintenance technician and is first in line to repair anything that goes awry in your apartment home.  He prides himself in being expeditious as well as getting the job done the first time.  If you see Chris out an about, give him a pat on the back!

Typically, the term March Madness refers to the NCAA Basketball tournament but in the multi-family housing industry there is much madness being created that always begins around Spring Break.   Spring Break marks the time of year that 40,000+ Texas Tech students begin looking for a new place to live in the fall. Of course, this doesn’t just occur with Tech students, this is also true of students that are graduating in May and have just figured out where their first job will be as well as the family who wants a change and prefers to move before their children start back to elementary school in the fall.  This is one of my favorite times of the year because it means new faces, new friends and happy advances in life. We are so blessed by our residents sending new faces in our office to find a new home. Resident referrals continue to be our #1 source of leases and for that, we sincerely thank you!  We continue to strive to make AG Rentals the best apartment/duplex/house communities in Lubbock, TX and we cannot do that without you. We love the feedback that we receive and I would like to encourage each of you to continue with giving us all of the feedback that we can get.

This past year, we had some feedback that the internet service that was being provided at Summertime Villa and Genoa Gardens just wasn’t cutting it. We have recently added quite a bit of bandwidth for our residents use and reconfigured the entire wireless internet system. The feedback has been extremely positive towards the upgrade.  With the addition of Genoa Gardens II to our portfolio, we have been able to offer two fitness centers for our resident’s use. These facilities have state of the art equipment that many of you enjoy regularly. Our residents have stated that they love that with the amenity key, they have access to the centers on their time and they love that feature. Another addition is the 2nd pool, gazebo area and entertainment room at Genoa Gardens II. We love having a place for our residents to have their own get together with their friends and loved ones. We want our residents to be comfortable using the facilities on a regular basis. We have snacks and bottled water available for you each day as well.  Our Pinterest Dream Center is also available at your convenience. We have Stampin Up, Silhouette and Cricut products available for your use. Come and make your own personal wall words to make your living room or bedroom unique. We have many colors of vinyl to choose from to match any décor. We have scrapbooking and card making supplies to make that perfect birthday card or scrapbooking page.  Most importantly, we have our staff ready to assist you. Charity has restaurant coupons from local eateries, city maps and information about what is going on in town if you want help in planning the perfect evening out. Chuy is available in the office to hear your maintenance issues and set up appointments for your maintenance needs. Do you just need a supply so that you can do something yourself? Such as new drip pans, a light bulb, or a new shower curtain liner? We have that all for you right here in the Resident Lobby. Stop by at your convenience and get a cold bottled water or a hot cup of decaf vanilla coffee and we can take care of these things for you.

There is no need for madness in the AG Rentals world, just time for Relaxing because after all, you’re home….

We have cards in the office exclusively for our residents to take with them when setting up their account with Mighty Wash. Mighty Wash offers monthly wash plans as well as single washes as needed.
I personally love that I have a sticker on my windshield that allows me to drive right through the gate without talking to anyone or having to punch a button and proceed directly to have my car washed and hand dried per my monthly plan. If I have some extra time, they provide vacuums for my use to clean out the inside as well.

Are the hard water stains on your faucets driving you crazy?  Does your water pressure seem like it is becoming weaker by the day? 

Hard water contains an abundance of calcium and magnesium that will eventually stain and begin to corrode or break down almost any material or surface.

Removing hard water spots and corrosion is easier than most realize.  Cut a lemon in half and rub the meat of the lemon on your faucets, showerheads, or stainless steel sink.  Viola!  When life hands you lemons, get to cleaning!

If your surfaces have buildup around your faucets or you simply would like a bottled cleaner, making an all-natural hard water remover is simple and effective.  I have tried many recipes to tackle the hard water.  My favorite is as follows:

• Half a spray bottle of white vinegar
• ¼ cup of lemon juice
• Fill the remaining space in the bottle with your favorite liquid dish detergent

After shaking the bottle, spray the cleaner on the hard water and let stand for about 30 minutes.  If your surfaces have extreme buildup, pour a little bit of baking soda to the area and let stand for about 5 minutes before spraying the cleaner on the stains.

If your showerhead seems clogged, fill a plastic bag with white vinegar and rubber band the bag to the showerhead.  Keep the bag on the showerhead for a few hours.

Ready or not, here it comes!

Rain is on its way, folks! Rain is in the forecast for the Lubbock area today and tomorrow. Our land is desperate for a drink of nature’s gift, but is your carpet? Treating mud-stained carpet can be maddening if the proper approach is not taken.

Step one:

DO NOTHING! Sit back with a nice cup of joe and wait until the mud has dried completely. Blotting the mud or attempting to wipe it will only spread the stain and force it deep into the pad.

Step two:

Once the mud has completely dried and now can be considered dirt, plug your vacuum in and remove as much of the dirt as possible with the extension wand. Once you have removed most of the dirt, run your vacuum over the area like normal.

This process should take care of the muddy mess. If you find that the mud did create a stain, contacting Jeff with Carpet Solutions should be your next move. Attempting to saturate the stain will only make matters worse. Jeff can be reached at (806)548-4521.
