<p>Your organs remove toxins from the body everyday, however your diet injects more toxic chemicals into the body than it can remove. The toxin backlogs and must be stored for removal later. With more toxins entering the body than it can remove each day, toxins continue to accumulate in the body.</p>
<p>The stored toxins eventually harm your cells, and it will lead to aches, pains and diseases.</p>
<p>You can give your body a chance to remove the toxins by fasting.</p>

A fast gives the body a chance to catch up on cleansing work that it does not have time to do during normal times. You give the body this opportunity by drinking only fluids and resting for the length of the fast. </p>

<li>You only drink liquids such as herbal tea, fresh juice, or water</li>
<li>You do not eat solid food</li>
<li>You will do every light exercise</li>
<li>You will rest and relax most of the time</li>

<p>Digesting food takes a lot of energy. Dr. Isabelle Moser (author of How and When to Be Your Own Doctor) estimates that digestion use roughly 1/3 of your daily energy. When you stop eating solid food for a few days, you give the body a break from digesting. The energy freed from digesting can be used for detoxifying and repairing the body.</p>
<p>Work and movement also takes a lot of energy. By doing light activities and resting most of the time, you also free that energy for cleansing work.</p>

<li>Heal organs</li>

<p>We are leaving the year of the Tiger and entering the year of the Rabbit. It is a special time for the Asian family to get together to celebrate and welcome the new year in hopes of good fortune, prosperity and good health.</p>
<p>My wife has been busy with spring cleaning over the last few weeks, and she started her baking marathon last week. She has churned out so many wonderful cookies for the New Year celebration. The cookies melt in your mouth and it is so hard to stop even after eating a dozen! Here are some of the cookies she made:</p>

		<title>Start the Year With Prevention in Mind</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It has been a sad couple of weeks.</p>
<p>
First, a friend&#8217;s father passed away last week after being in a coma for the last few months caused by a stroke. The doctors could not find the clot and was not able to help him. Sadly, there wasn&#8217;t much hope that he would recover, but that didn&#8217;t stop the friend from continuing to try everything she can to clear the clot and wake him from the coma. My condolence goes out to her and her family. One good thing that came out of this tragedy was that she has taken prevention to heart. She changed her eating habits and lifestyle, and she tries to share this knowledge with others to help them become aware of the need for a healthy lifestyle to prevent health problem.</p>
<p>Yesterday, another friend&#8217;s husband had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. The surgeon estimated the surgery would take six hours, however went over by three hours because they found five clots and had to do five bypasses. It is amazing that a person with five clotted arteries managed to function normally for so long. It is truly lucky her husband knew he was having a heart attack and quickly asked her to rush him to the emergency room. The doctors acted quickly and was able to help him. Hopefully the fast action prevented any long term damage to his body. I wish him a speedy recovery, and hope he and his family will have a happy and healthy life ahead.</p>
<p>The food we eat have a huge impact on our body&#8217;s health. Many diseases are self inflicted and can be prevented if each of us learn how to care for our body and take responsibility. I just want to stress how important it is to learn to take care of your body to prevent life threatening disease in your future. Surgery is expensive, dangerous, and painful. You do not want to be the person laying on the operating table. I have met people with different types of illness and the methods used to save their lives are not pretty. The patients really do suffer from great pain while the doctors tries to save their lives. I would not want to experience it, and I would not want you to experience that type of pain and suffering. This is one life experience that you do not want to have.</p>
<p>If you do not know how to take care of your body, please learn. If you do not care about your body right now, please start caring because you can only abuse your body for so long before it eat away at your <a href="http://www.ahaworks.com">quality of life</a> and make you suffer for it. You never expect something bad would happen to you, but if you do not learn to care for the body, it inevitably will happen to you &#8212; it is just a matter of when. </p>
<p>Change is not easy. It takes a lot of effort and work to take care of the body because there are so many unhealthy food and lifestyle choices around us. It is so easy to get swept into those fast, sweet, salty, and delicious mainstream foods. It is so easy to sit and watch TV all day. With some effort, you can start making the right healthy choices, and it will get easier as you continue. If you have problem motivating yourself, then enlist a friend, find a trainer, find a book or video, or do whatever it takes to find the motivate to change. Invest the time and a little money if necessary to give yourself the best chance of a healthy life.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Right now, my focus is on helping people overcome their nearsightedness. Being myopic, it was natural for me to focus on overcoming nearsightedness. It is a continual process to improve and refine my understanding to make it easier for others to improve.</p>
<p>If you are farsighted whether categorized as presbyopia or hyperopia, you can improve your ability to read or see near. It is a matter of learning the right skills and practicing to master those skills. Just like nearsightedness, once you master the skills and use it daily, it will to help you improve. This struggle is similar to improving nearsightedness, but rather than learning to relax, you may need to increase your eye muscle strength to converge through the fusion exercise. You can read about it in the <a href="http://www.ahaworks.com/index.php/stop-eyestrain-now/10-week-3-fusion-lesson">fusion lesson</a>. You may be able to improve quickly by learning and practicing the fusion lesson. Yes, you have fewer steps to deal with than a nearsighted person.</p>
<p>If you need more assistance, there is a program by Dr. Ray Gottlieb called <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ahaworks.com/go.php?i=promotionbyrwgm">Read Without Glasses Method</a> that may be able to help. The fusion chart I created is based on the fusion chart from Dr. Ray Gottlieb. He may have some additional insight into improving farsightedness in his program. It may be worthwhile to investigate if the <a href="http://www.ahaworks.com/index.php/stop-eyestrain-now/10-week-3-fusion-lesson">fusion lesson</a> does not bring you the progress you are expecting. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Before you begin on your journey to improve your nearsightedness, I do need to set the right expectation so that you understand the great task you are about to take.</p>
<p>Improving your nearsightedness is about learning the skills to use your eyes correctly and using those skills to see and look at everything. It is not a complicated process, but it does require change, effort and persistence. It has to become a part of your life rather than being merely an exercise that you do half an hour a day.</p>
<p>In order to improve quickly, I spent three to four hours doing my work in front of a window where sunlight can shine on my book or computer, and spent every break practicing to look at objects in the distance. I spent my half hour of practice focused on the steps in the lesson and tried my best to notice how strain feels and behave.  I was conscious to focus on a small area when I read and look at distance objects. I changed the way I was using my eyes. These changes helped me improve quickly.</p>
<p>After spending a few decades misusing my eyes, I needed to practice using my eyes correctly as much as I can. You must prepare yourself to make whatever changes are necessary to use your eyes correctly throughout the day. By being ready and willing to make these changes, it will allow you adapt to the new skills easier and improve faster.</p>
<p>Please read chapter 13 &#8211; <a href="http://www.ahaworks.com/index.php/stop-eyestrain-now/13-new-habits-for-using-your-eyes">New Habits For Using Your Eyes</a> for suggestions on the habits you should develop. Then, you can put these suggestions into action as soon as possible.</p>

It is not always easy to understand what you are seeing especially when someone is trying to trick you. Yes, I am talking about optical illusions. Today, we will just have some fun trying to trick our eyes and confuse our mind &#8212; let&#8217;s start with a few basic ones that you should be familiar with:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many of us take our eyes for granted. We do not realize how important eyesight is to our daily lives. During high school, I remember seeing students in some class fumbling around blindfolded. It did not occur to me then that they are trying to understand what it is like to be blind.</p>
<p>This experiment is worth doing to experience what life would be like without our eyesight. I decided to spend one hour doing my daily task blindfolded.</p>
<p>I set the timer for one hour and tied a cloth around my eyes. I got up and walked toward the kitchen. For some reason, things I instinctively knew to be at a certain place seemed to disappear and reappear where it stubbed my toe, grazed my knee, or bumped my head. I was lucky not to break a cup as I poured myself a some water, which overflowed and I scrambled clumsily to find a cloth to mop it up.</p>
<p>I wanted to prepare and clean so vegetables, but thought twice about working with a knife blindfolded. How does a blind person know if the vegetable is clean anyways? I watched TV but that was no fun without the image. I sat at my desk to start doing some work, and instinctively groped to find the computer&#8217;s on switch. What in the world was I going to do after the computer booted up? Yeah, that stumped me!</p>
<p>I felt around for a pen and paper, and started writing.Thoughts and ideas were pouring out.  This is easy! When the alarm rang, I was surprise to see that my writing was illegible. It was like chicken scratches on paper and somehow I masterfully manage to write over the same lines on several occasions.</p>
<p>Doing things without eyesight is restrictive. Things I normally do without a second thought is almost impossible blindfolded. I am horribly uncoordinated without my eyesight! I have to salute every blind person who is actively living life with this incredible challenge. I tried it in my own house where know the terrain and yet I could barely function. How a blind person do daily tasks and maneuver the dangerous streets is nothing less than spectacular!</p>
<p>If you can not fathom how important your eyesight is, try blindfolding yourself and go about your daily tasks. It will give you a humbling perspective on how difficult life is without your eyesight.</p>

<p>When I was working eight to twelve hours a day, I did not have time to care about my body and eyes. I didn&#8217;t understand that I needed to take care of my body correctly and no one advised me to do it. After some time, I was overweight and developed backaches, knee pains, headaches, foul breath, smelly feet, high nearsightedness and irritability. My <a href="http://www.ahaworks.com">quality of life</a> went from good to poor. I had to spend years to learn, change and overcome these annoying problems. I had to learn the hard way that it is important to take care of the body.</p>
<p>Our eyes are important to our <a href="http://www.ahaworks.com">quality of life</a>. My advice is to learn and take action to care for the eyes now. Eye disease is spreading rapidly throughout the world because we do not know how to use our eyes properly.  </p>

<p>Roughly one in three or four Americans over 40 develop some type of blinding eye disease. The importance of this number may not hit because you never expect health problems to happen to you. You scramble for help, and get hit with complications and high medical bills. Don&#8217;t get caught up in this cycle of disease and cure. Prevent so you can have good eyesight to enjoy your life. Prevention does not guarantee that you will not develop a disease. It, however, drastically lower your risk so that you may avoid a major disease. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>News (Jan 7, 2011): <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110108/ap_on_he_me/us_med_fluoride_levels">US says too much fluoride causing splotchy teeth.</a> The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services plans to lower the fluoride in drinking water because Americans are getting too much fluoride which is causing splotches in children&#8217;s teeth.</p>
<p>The whole idea behind fluoridation (adding of fluoride to our water supply) was to prevent tooth decay. The problem is that the fluoride being used to &#8220;improve&#8221; our water comes from sodium fluorosilicate, a hazardous waste byproduct.</p>
<p>&#8220;The chemicals used to fluoridate water in the US are not pharmaceutical grade. Instead, they come from the wet scrubbing systems of the superphosphate fertilizer industry. These chemicals (90% of which are sodium fluorosilicate and fluorosilicic acid), are classified hazardous wastes contaminated with various impurities. Recent testing by the National Sanitation Foundation suggest that the levels of arsenic in these chemicals are relatively high (up to 1.6 ppb after dilution into public water) and of potential concern (NSF 2000 and Wang 2000).&#8221; Quoted from: <a href="http://www.fluoridealert.org/50-reasons.htm">50 Reasons to Oppose Fluoridation </a></p>
<p>Opponents of fluoridation claims that it is a ruse by aluminum, steel and fertilizer industries to find a cheap way to dispose of their hazardous waste. If they dump it into the river, it is a pollution violation. Under the disguise of fluoridation, releasing the waste into municipal water is good for health. Not only have they found a way to get rid of their waste, they are being paid to do it. Wow! Did we just get slapped twice! <p>It doesn&#8217;t make sense to continue with fluoridation since recent studies show that too much fluoride can lead to dental fluorisis, skeletal fluorisis, accumulation in the body (brain, pineal gland, etc.) altering behaviors and IQ, inhibit enzymes, damage DNA, and increase risk of bone, liver and mouth cancer. They need to stop poisoning our waters. If they want to combat cavities, they need to tackle the root of the problem. The real problem is explained convincingly by Dr. Weston Price who showed that proper nutrition from whole unprocessed food allows the body to maintain healthy gum, teeth and bone. I normally don&#8217;t bother with minor cuts, but it was deep enough to draw blood and hurted every time I move the finger or brush against the cut. I washed away the blood and searched for a band-aid. Wouldn&#8217;t you know it, I ran out of band-aid. There was medical tape available, so I squeeze the cut skin together and tape it. Interestingly, the pain from the cut disappeared. The tape held the cut together and kept it dry even as I chopped and washed the vegetables. Guess what, there was no pain even when I bump against it.</p>

<p>The next day, I changed the tape and saw that most of the cut has mended. I taped it again to let it do its thing. After two days, the cut healed and there was no sign of the injury. </p>
<p>Normally, a cut would continue to hurt for a few days, a scab would form, and I get the pleasure of peeling away the crusty scab when it starts to fall. With this method, there is no pain even as I continue with my chores, there is no scabbing (I&#8217;ll miss tearing the scabs from the skin <img src='http://www.ahaworks.com/blog_new/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> ), and it heals in about two days.</p>
<p>For minor cuts, it is a great way to dress the cut and allow the skin work its healing magic.  When I get cut again, I&#8217;m definitely grabbing the medical tape. Try it out the next time you get a minor cut.</p>
