Abd-al-Mumin of the Almohades (ruled 1133-1163 AD)
Moroccan Founder of the Almohad Empire that ruled in North Africa and Spain

Abd-al-Mumin was a Negro Berber from Morocco. He became the leader of the Almohades, a radical Islamic movement that eventually became the Third Islamic Dynasty in Moslem Spain. Abd-al-Mumin took control of the movement in 1133 AD. A brilliant organiser, he unified the various Berber groups, not just the Mesmuda (his own group), into a cohesive force. In time, a power struggle took place between the ruling Almoravid establishment, an African power that radiated from Senegal, and the newly rising Almohades. The newcomers triumphed. In 1147 they seized the Moroccan city of Marrakech and executed the last Almoravid monarch that ruled there. Abd-al-Mumin commissioned the great Koutoubia mosque to be built there as a symbol of his conquest over the Almoravides. By 1150 he became master of Spain. "Thus for a second time" wrote Lady Lugard, a great English historian, "a purely African dynasty reigned upon the most civilised throne of Europe". By 1160 his armies took control of Tunisia and penetrated Libya. These actions gained control of trade routes. Dr Basil Davidson, another great historian, explained that: "the Magreb blossomed once again." Furthermore, "cities like Fez and Tlemsen rivalled the urban beauty and learning of Granada and Cordova, unsurpassed by now throughout the western world".

A strong leader and military innovator, Shaka is noted for revolutionizing 19th century Bantu warfare by first grouping regiments by age, and training his men to use standardized weapons and special tactics. He developed the "assegai" a short stabbing spear, and marched his regiments in tight formation, using large shields to fend off the enemies throwing spears. Over time, Shaka's troops earned such a reputation that many enemies would flee at the sight of them. He built the Zulus into a nation of over a million strong. He was also sucessful in uniting all the ethnic groups in South Africa against the despicable vestiges of colonialism.

Law of Attraction Exercises for Wealth

Let's face it, most of us like the idea of using the law of attraction to bring more wealth into our lives. But what can you do to help manifest more wealth in your life? Ideally right now (because there are bills to pay and the economy hasn't been carefully looked after by those politicians we all elected).

Use the Cosmic Ordering method

Cosmic Ordering is a variant of the law of attraction. It formalizes some of the "woolier" parts of the original law of attraction and helps you to manifest wealth and anything else you desire in your life.

A cosmic order is crafted so that it represents precisely what you want to appear in your life. The more precise - and the more detail - the better.

So instead of placing an order that you want more money, you'd specify an actual dollar amount. And you'd actually go one further in that request. It's quite usual for the Universe (or Cosmos) to super-size your requests. It doesn't know any better - abundance is the natural state of the universe. So make sure that any cosmic order you place includes something along the lines of "at least" so that you're open to the possibility of getting more than you asked for. In the nicest possible way of course!

Create a vision board

You probably used to do this as a child.

You'd find pictures of things you liked or things you wanted. Then you'd clip them out and paste them either into a scrapbook or mount them on the wall of your bedroom.

At its simplest, that's what a vision board is.

Of course, it's easier now. Albeit less exciting than rifling through glossy magazines whilst armed with a pair of scissors. And one eye over your shoulder because deep down you knew that the magazine that had only just thudded onto the doormat shouldn't (yet) be sliced up. But, hey, that thought soon vaporized.

Nowadays you'll probably cull your images from a Google image search or by going through sites like Flickr.

Then instead of paper and scissors, you'll use the images program that came with your digital camera and manipulate the images before pressing the Print button.

But the end result is the same - a vision board that crystalizes what you want to manifest into your life. Which, since we're talking about manifesting wealth here, will likely include pots of gold, piles of coins and stacks of dollar bills. Plus all the add-ons that wealth brings such as fast cars, big houses, that kind of thing.

Meditate

Focus is an excellent way to manifest wealth and other things into your life. And meditation is a great way to do this.

The peace and tranquility that you experience whilst your meditating is unrivaled and can create your own holiday retreat in the comfort of your own mind.

Whether you use a traditional meditation method such as focussing on a candle or chanting a mantra or whether you use a modern technique such as a binaural beats meditation matters a lot less than the fact that you're meditating.

Tips for Vacationing on a Budget

Looking for some vacation money saving ideas? There’s nothing wrong with vacationing on a budget. Hey, we all can’t travel like the rich and famous.

You save all year to get the money for a well earned vacation. You want to stretch your vacation budget but still enjoy yourself. Sounds like a good plan. To help you out I’ve together some vacation money saving ideas that I hope you will find useful.

If you have a particular destination in mind it pays to plan ahead. Research the attractions and facilities. Find out what specials or discounts they may have going. Look for other things to do or see nearby so that you can make good use of your time and cut down on the running from place to place.

Plan your vacation for the off season. You can usually get better deals on lots of things like plane tickets, hotels, car rentals, cruises and lots of other things.

If you have friends or relatives nearby your destination consider asking them if you can stay with them. Don’t be a freeloader though. Even though you help pay for the groceries and other expenses your host incurs, it’s still a good vacation money saving idea.

If you are flying try to plan your trip for when tickets are traditionally cheapest. That would be Feb thru May and September thru December (except the week before Thanksgiving and the two week period before Christmas). Try to avoid flying on Friday afternoons as this is often the busiest time of the week for airlines.

Meals can be expensive at restaurants so you can save some money by packing food for the road.

When eating out try to avoid the places that obviously cater to tourists. Find out where the locals eat. Ask around. The smaller family owned places usually have better food at better prices. You may have to go a little out of your way but it is usually worth it for some vacation money savings.

Hotels are typically more expensive the closer you get to a major attraction. With a little planning you can find a good balance between price and distance.

When picking hotels don’t just go by the ratings. Compare the amenities they offer. Often you will find that you really don’t need everything offered by that 4 star hotel and you can do very nicely at the 3 star…with a better price!

Consider buying or renting an RV. You travel at your own pace. Cooking and bathrooms are always close by. You can meet a lot of other friendly RVers who will usually be glad to point out the best places to go.

When traveling by car you can save fuel by renting a smaller fuel efficient model. Packing light, reducing your speed and maintaining proper tire air pressure will also cut the gas costs.

Make sure that your car is ready for the trip. Good tires, oil change, tune-up and all that good stuff. It’s a heck of a lot cheaper and more convenient to deal with these things before you go rather than on the road somewhere.

Check out the local transportation system of buses, trains or trolleys. These can be considerably cheaper than using taxis.

Camping is a great vacation money saving idea. There are lots of campgrounds around. They are cheap and you may end up with an experience that outshines anything you can get a fancy hotel.

Plan activities that don’t require a lot of money. Hiking, and swimming are good ones. Local Museums and historical sites are often very reasonably priced as well as being quite educational and fun. The big theme parks have their appeal but you can really go through the cash at those places.

Plan picnics. These can be excellent vacation money saving opportunities as well as a chance to really relax and enjoy the local area.
