Lolita Lempicka launches l’Eau Jolie

On my latest trip to Paris, I saw how the Parisian fragrance brand Lolita Lempicka creates magic that make us dream. That story will have to wait for bit.

FACES Makeup Competition on MBC TV – 5th Challenge

This week featured the top 4 makeup artists who made it through out FACES competition on MBC TV, Saba Al Kheir Ya Arab segment every Sunday. As a judge, its getting harder every week to eliminate especially because not only are all the makeup artists improving, but also because we are getting really used to them. This week’s challenge was GLITTER.

Looks like Risellene took my feedback from last week seriously and pushed herself where she delivered a creative output of a woman made of ice. In reality, Risellene coated the lips and eyebrowse with sugar and broke that look with a pink eyeshadow. I personally loved it!

As for Namareq, she did an impeccable job. I have to point out that the pictures don’t give the real work justice. Namareq challenged herself where she created a hand-made mask of glitter going gradually from blue to purple (again, that’s not shown in the photo). After all this work, she delivered a clean picture of perfection revolving around the carnaval theme. This by far was the most difficult look and she nailed it.

Lina has a stamp called: Let me do your makeup, let me make you gorgeous! Lina took what she does best and added a fantasy of glitter mix on the face that spoke royal beauty. I simply love her work!

Anje on the other hand understood the theme, delivered a clean work and upgraded her level. Unfortunately, she was eliminated this week due to her limited creativity in this look. Anje has a classic approach that I personally admire. However, the stakes are too high right now and the artists shouldn’t play it safe. They should push themselves and get out of their element. Hard luck to Anje, I wish her all the best!

Last week’s eliminated contestant was Hadjira, who I asked her to do the work and send me photos of the out come. Hadjira went for a beautiful romantic look but still kept it safe lacked perfection. Notice the similarity between Anje’s and Hadjira’s makeup.

FACES Makeup Competition on MBC TV – 4th Challenge

What do you think about when you hear the Dark Glamour makeup?For me, I think dark eyes, maybe an eyeliner and dark red lipstick. Heavily countoured and super sexy. For this week’s challenge, Glamour was the theme and the contestants were given Black as the main color to work with.

I had different expectations, but let’s go through the results.

The best for this week was Lina. Even the most talented of us, needs to be reminded that she will always have to learn more and do better. Otherwise, her future is dead. Despite last week’s controversy having Lina in the bottom three, she remains -in my opinion- as one of the best makeup artists I have ever dealt with, not just on this show. It was dark enough, perfectly blended and commercial as well as a show makeup.

One of the best was also Namareq. I just wish she took it a bit further and perhaps added an eyeliner to add a sharp touch to it. Other than that, I loved that it was different from the rest of the looks and was commercial to me.

Ange is improving and showing us her true colors. I don’t mind the heavy eyeliner she had gone for, in fact its sexy. However, for such a heavily outline eyeshadow/eyeliner, the lines should have been more perfect because any mistake is obvious to see.

The bottom looks were obviously Hadjira’s and Risellene’s. Neither one gave us a Dark Glamourous look or a glamorous look at all.

While Risellene is creative and technically very good, she doesn’t relate to the Arabic woman. As for the Hadjira, she is clearly improving by getting out of her element; however, she needs a lot of practice to not only make her work cleaner, but to also understand clearly what the challenges are really about. In other words, she needs to become a professional.

FACES Makeup Competition on MBC TV – 3rd Challenge

You remember how my career in fashion started? It was all about dressing my Barbie dolls using my aunt’s fabric left overs from her stitching days. With that, came a nostalgic challenge for this week on MBC TV with Faces: Barbie Makeup.

(Below is my look during this episode)

One thing I have concluded from this week’s challenge is that creating a Barbie makeup is anything but easy. In fact, it takes few to get it right.

My favorite for this week’s challenge was Namareq. This girl is proving to have an eye for beauty, glamour and perfection. She not only got the theme to its core, but she also took a beautiful turn with accessorising her model making her look like one of the Barbie dolls I once had. Her work was impeccable.

My second favorite was Ange. At this stage, I have realized that Ange needs to step out of the box and push her boundaries to become a trendsetter not just a good makeup artist. I also have to admit that this was the beginning of her revolution. I just hope she keeps moving forward.

Risellene did a very different type of Barbie makeup. For some, it wasn’t at all a Barbie makeup. It was audacious, but not exactly where the theme was going. For others, she has broken the boundaries of a typical Barbie makeup, which was good. For me, it was good but didn’t stand out.

Lina surprised me this week. Although her model definitely looked like a doll, it definitely wasn’t a Barbie. It was perfect! It was everything I’d want to see in a “Fantasy Makeup”. However, for a Barbie’s makeup, it was too intense, heavy and overly contoured. I had mixed feelings about it as I truly loved it and she was by no means one of the worst looks. Having said that, among the 4 beautiful looks, she lost track of work from the original mission the most. Its also good for her to stay alert for future challenges as I want to see the best from her.

Hadjira was one of the bottom 3 in this episode. Her makeup was beautiful and clean, but it carried absolutely no Barbie effort. It was something a woman could wear on her daily activities. If time permits, a makeup artist should invest in her research once a client hands her out the brief. Till this moment, I haven’t seen real creativity from Hadjira and she needs to work on herself a lot more.

As for Raffle, who chose to withdraw from this competition for personal reasons, I have admired her bold creativity and theatrical approach. Raffle is a makeup artist with clear identity. For this challenge, Raffle gave a Barbie doll in her own way. However, technically, she should have done a better job knowing her level of work and her love for fantasy. Anyways, I only wish her best of luck in her future career.

Next week’s challenge is a favorite of mine: Glamour, or what I refer to as Retro. I can’t wait to see what each contestant will bring to the table.

FACES Makeup Competition on MBC TV – 2nd Challenge

The second week’s challenge on FACES makeup competition airing every Sunday morning live on MBC TV “Sabah Alkheir Ya Arab” program was a tough one: “Mysterious Arabic” with blue being the main color.

I went for a retro glamorous look for this episode

I’m into simpler makeup, well toned face, contoured bones and defined eyes.. a flattering makeup. Makeup artists can easily take a very wrong direction with Mysterious Arabic. Unfortunately, some of the contestants took that path.

Some, on the other hand, nailed it and exceeded my expectations giving incredibly beautiful results! I was truly impressed.

My top choices where: Namareq and Lina Hussein. Each had her own style but both had clean work, spot on with the concept yet on an international level. Both executed elegant results.

Lina has a gift. She can transform any face into a beautiful one. In the first challenge, I wondered if the model’s natural beauty helped her out. It looks like I was wrong but I’ll only know for sure in the next challenge.

Risellene and Ange did beautiful work too but Risellene’s makeup didn’t exactly portray “Mysterious Arabic makeup”. It was more of a beautiful smokey makeup. Ange had beautiful results with the pop out turquoise and the beautifully toned face but I wish she could take more risk in the upcoming challenge.

I had mixed feelings about Hadjira’s makeup as she understood this week’s challenge well but I felt the outcome was too much. The face was too glittery and the colors were intense.

The weakest were Lina Zoghaib and Raffle. Lina’s work was very amateur and it wasn’t clean around the eyes. It was completely out of her element and that’s what I love about this competition. It pushes talents in directions they never thought they’d take and it brings the best and worst in them. Hard luck for Lina in this competition, with a little more practice, I have no doubt she will be great.

Raffle on the other hand needs a canvas to draw on. Faces restrict her work as she has a very theatrical approach to her makeup. This is good creativity but not for your every day clients. I can’t wait to see how Raffle will evolve in the upcoming challenges.

FACES Makeup Competition on MBC TV – 1st Challenge

The first week’s challenge on FACES makeup competition on MBC TV “Sabah Alkheir Ya Arab” program was about the “Dreamy bride”.

As one of the 3 judges, I’ll be sharing with you my views on looks by the makeup artists. For me, the below were the top looks by Lina Hussein and Risllene.

Lina gave me a glow in the model’s face by emphasizing on the eyes and contouring the face in such a magical way. It was my favorite look by far.

Risllene seems to be the one who understood the “Dreamy Bridal” message that we were trying to get out of this competition. She had beautiful and clean complexion, and overall her makeup was very dreamy.

The rest of the contestants, such as Ange, Lina Zoghaib and Hadjira, also gave a beautiful results. Unfortunately, each week, one makeup artist will be eliminated. This week’s challenge resulted in Rasha being eliminated. Hard luck for Rasha.

This challenge also shed the light on 2 looks that I thought could have been perfect. Namariq went oriental which I didn’t mind. It was the red lipstick that killed it for me not just because red isn’t dreamy at all, but because the model’s lips were too thin and dark red lips will make them look even thinner.

As for Raffle, everything was perfect until she drew the flowers on the model’s face. It was definitely dreamy and its good for each artist to have her own identity, but she has to ask herself if a real bride will actually want drawings on her face. Apart from that it was a really beautiful makeup.

Next week’s challenge is not an easy one, its the “Mysterious Arabic” with blue being the main ingredient of the color palette.

Makeup competition by FACES on MBC TV!

Every Sunday on MBC TV, Sabah Al Kheir Ya Arab, FACES will be hosting a show where young talents compete to win the title of being the official makeup artist for FACES. Each week there will be a theme that the contestants should follow. I have had the pleasure to be invited as one of three judges on this weekly reality tv competition.

I finally launched my first ever high-end ready-to-wear line I by Aiisha and little did I know it would take the Middle East by storm! Women are hungry for pieces with class and quality for everyday and I’m giving it to them. After realeasing our I by Aiisha video campaign for our collection titled “Mirror” with celebrities Joelle Mardinian, Asma Lmnawar, Mohamad Abuobeid and Arjan Bajwa, it was time to give Dubai a real taste of my new line.

The story of this line is about women’s individuality and evolution. With simplistic lines, statement colours and structured fit, this line suits women with differing needs, backgrounds and tastes. Specifically, the ‘Mirror’ collection reveals the 2 sides of every story and multitude of characters that each person can embody.

Our vision for the brand came to life with support from the Infiniti Centre, part of the Arabian Automobiles Co. A powerful, luxurious and classy brand, these same elements are incorporated within our ‘Mirror’ collection. Months of hard work and planning was facilitated with the cutting edge technology of the Blackberry Z10. Wella Koleston crowned the models and Asma Lmnawar’s hair with trendy hair styles reflected in clean lines of perfection. Revlon was a trendsetter painting the models nails with black French manicure on nude base.

Revlon also touched the models faces and Asma Lmnawar’s with brushes of beauty marking fierce cat eyes on structured nude faces. 5 star catering DISH and Voss water from Norway treated invitees with a refined taste and refreshing water.

Select invitees received their invitations with a special treat that made their hearts beat so fact! A beautiful La Prairie gift bag!

AIISHA RAMADAN to represent Middle East’s Prêt-à-Porter at Paris fashion phenomenon on the Seine

Global fashion show organizer and model Jessica Minh Anh has picked me as her favourite UAE’s celebrity designer to represent Prêt-à-Porter sector from the Middle East at the highly anticipated J Spring Fashion Show on the famous River Seine in Paris on 30 May 2013. This marks the second collaboration between Jessica and Aiisha after the incredible J Winter Fashion show on Costa Atlantica took place in Dubai via Frost Boutique.

This exclusive VIP and press event is a part of Jessica’s series of unique catwalks at the most extraordinary venues worldwide following the grand success on London Tower Bridge, PETRONAS Twin Towers’ Skybridge, and Costa Atlantica in Dubai.

My latest ready-to-wear collection will be showcased on a 90 metre floating catwalk on the Seine’s giant glass boat Le Jean Bruel with the natural backdrop being architectural wonders such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre.

2nd Video Campaign: “I by Aiisha – Mirror”

In line with my tradition of innovation and unique collaborations, ‘I by Aiisha’ was launched with a video campaign featuring a host of celebrities including beauty expert and TV presenter Joelle Mardinian, singer Asmaa Lmnawar, TV Presenter Mohamad Abu Obeid, Bollywood actor Arjan Bajwa and myself. This video featured these celebrities unique and personal opinions of how to define style.

I love the fact that Mohamad Abuobeid spoke about how its not an obstacle for a woman wearing a veil to look stylish. Asmaa spoke about how essential it is for her style to reflect her identity as a Moroccan singer. Joelle gave tips on how to change an entire look by changing her accessories and shoes. Arjan stated that he’s a classic guy who has an eye for details.

I can’t thank these beautiful people enough for their support and for voicing out their opinions on fashion and style through my I by Aiisha video campaign. Everyone of us has a protagonist and antagonist inside. Without good there is no bad and vice versa. The art is to embrace both and learn how to harmonize the opposites within oneself. With this collection I wanted to reveal the simpler side of me. One that gave me balance.
