A lot of people are interested on finding more information and tricks about their iPhone, or some others just looks to find if it worth to buy the iPhone, to look if something is missing from the features or if it is easy to “play” with the iPhone.

In this topic I will show you some tricks that can make the iPhone to be used more efficiently.

1. Scroll to the top of the page (in Safari or any application) – just tap the bar on the top of the screen (the one that contains the information about signal strength, clock, battery, etc.).

2. When typing a domain in Safari, you don’t have to write down the “www” and “.com” domain. Just tap the name of the site – if you want to access Google, instead to type www.google.com just type google in the URL box.

3. At the bottom of the screen, on the keyboard there is a “.com” button for faster access and write “.com” in the browser. But, if you hold down the “.com” button for few seconds, the other domains will appear - .net, .edu, .org…etc.

4. Faster delete E-Mails – if you want to delete multiple e-mails just press “Edit” and check the desired emails that will be deleted. If you want to delete just one single e-mail just swipe your finger across the desired mail and the “Delete” button will appear just next the mail.

5. Press and hold the skip forward/back arrows to fast forward or rewind rather than skip tracks. Also, press on the album art to manually FF/rewind.

6. To save an image from Safari – open the image by clicking on it, after it loads just tap and hold the image – a menu will appear and you can choose “Save Image”. It will be saved in “Camera Roll”.

7. If you want to take a screenshot of your current screen, just tap and hold the Home button and while holding the Home button shortly press the Power/Sleep button. The image will be automatically saved in “Camera Roll”.

8. If you want to use alternate characters while typing a message or a note for example, just tap and hold the letter that you want. For example if you want to write down the “ì” or “ï” symbol tap and hold the “I” button. The symbols will appear in a box right above the letter that you pressed and you just have to tap the one you want to insert.

9. If you click and hold to a link in Safari, the entire URL will pop-up.

10. If your iPhone refuses to respond to your commands you can use the Soft Reset - press and hold the Home button and the Sleep button to restart your iPhone. A white light will flash, the screen will shut off and then turn back on. Keep holding until the screen turns back on.

11. To quickly add a period symbol “.” Just double tap the “Spacebar”.

12. Tap the bottom corner to navigate home screens.

13. If you get a phone call during the backup and syncing, the whole back up/sync is null and void. To avoid that just start the backup/sync and then pull out your SIM card. It will nothing happens and after the backup/sync is complete just put back your SIM card and you are ready to make phone calls or whatever you want.

14. Move “dock” icons - Just press and hold the icons, then drag them while they are shaking. Press the home button when you’re done. You can put any 4 icons on your dock.

15. When you are browsing a website on your iPhone’s Safari browser and want to add its icon to your home screen, press the plus sign and select “Add to Home Screen“.The image in the icon is a screenshot of the page you were on. So if you want the icon to look a specific way, zoom in on a particular item on the page. Whether you want the website’s logo, or some picture on the page, simply zoom in on that part of the page before you press “Add to Home Screen“.

A lot of people who wants to put the new OS from Microsoft are afraid that the drivers won’t work or that the software that usually uses might have some incompatibilities with the OS during the installation or after. Here are some little advices that might help:

If the problem of the drivers it is not solved via Automatic Updates, you can follow those advices:

- First, the drivers – if you had run previously Vista, you can use with no problems the drivers designed for it. Just right click on the driver you want to download and click on Compatibility tab and set it to Vista. Some of the drivers (I don’t know if all) work fine for Windows 7 even if they are designed for XP. Just follow the steps above, but choose Windows XP SP2 compatibility.

- Some of the users complained that the Daemon Tools program will not work on Windows 7. It is true. But you can use another programs, like PowerISO that it works great. I tested myself, it is actually the program that I use to emulate drives under Windows 7 and it works great.

- I’ve seen also some complains about other programs like Adobe Photoshop or Nero. If you receive a message error during the installation process you might to follow the instructions listed above, Right Click on the file > Compatibility > set it to Vista or XP SP2. It will work. There are still some problems with certain versions of Nero, but if you use Nero 8 lite edition or Nero 9 you should have no problem at all.

- There are some issues regarding the capability to play videos. Just install BSPlayer Free and at the first start, right after the installation, it will automatically download and install the codecs for you. If it won’t work (I mean if the image is black during a video playback but the sound works just go to the Options in BSPlayer, Preferences, Video, Video Rendering and on the Rendering mode tab select Internal renter overlay (default) or EVR. It should work. If you still have problems with those settings just try the all options available on Rendering mode tab.

- Another problem is the Antivirus program. I use Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 and it works great. He integrates with Windows 7 security manager, it downloads the updates and he protects the PC very well.

- If you use a Mobile Phone and you need to install a PC suite in order to organize your files, you probably receive during the installation progress an error that tells you that the software is not compatible with the OS. Just select Vista or XP on the compatibility windows (as I said before for other programs).

- Some of you may be wondering what version of Windows 7 you have to install (32bit or 64 bit versions are available). It is very simple. If you have a 32 bit processor or less than 4 gig of RAM you should install the 32 bit version. If you have a 64 bit processor and more than 4 gigs of RAM, definitely you should install 64 bit version. Just as simple as that – the 64 bit version consumes more RAM memory than the 32 bit. But the 32 bit version will only see 3.3 gigs of RAM, even you have 4 installed on your system.

I don’t know what else to say for now. If something comes in my mind, I will tell you :P…

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers.

After I came back from work yesterday I’ve tried to spend more time with the Windows 7.

After I came back from work yesterday I’ve tried to spend more time with the Windows 7.

I started to install all the things that I need and that I regularly use – Adobe Photoshop CS3, Microsoft Office, Nero, Media Players, Browsers…etc.

Let’s take one at a time – the most important software that I’ve installed

Adobe Photoshop CS3 – I’ve installed the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Suite – Master Collection – it worked great. I installed in no time and without having any problems. The Photoshop works great; it starts faster than does in Vista or the old XP. Layers loads very fast, also the effects even are about large files. There were no problems encountered.

Microsoft Office 2007 – installed very fast and with no problems. The application starts faster that it does in Vista.

Nero – I was able to install Nero 9 and it works flawless. For virtual drives I had to use PowerISO that it works very well. There were no problems in mounting virtual images.

As media players I use iTunes for my mp3 collection and BSPlayer for movies and videos. Both installed great and it work great too. There were no problems with installing Quick Time Player or with downloading the Codecs in BSPlayer (thing that the BSPlayer does ot automatically after the installation – it searches for installed codecs and downloads and installs the missing ones).

For browsing the internet I use Safari and rarely Google Chrome. Both browsers work very well. The speed that loads pages I thing that is a little bit faster than it does in Vista, but I’m not sure because it might be the internet connection or the wireless router signal. Anyway it works great. I had no problems in downloading plugins such as Flash Player or Windows Media Player (in Safari). The flash player installed correctly even for the IE8.

Yahoo! Messenger works OK. There were no problems in installing it or for starting.

Also I’ve installed a security suite for my notebook that was designed for Windows XP and that it works perfectly on Windows 7 – it contains a fingerprint logon, a credential manager, a system manager, etc.

I hadn’t had enough time to install and play a game, but this will be the first thing that I will do when I get home back from work today. I want to see if there are any differences in running 3D games between Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

Also, I will install other programs in order to see the stability of the system.

I’ve forget in previous posts to mention my system to make a clear idea for you on what system I managed to install and run flawless this new OS: I have an HP Compaq NX6325 notebook – AMD Tution TL-52 64×2 @ 1.6 GHz, 2 Giga of RAM, 120 Gigs on Hard Drive, ATI Radeon x1150 @ 256 MB (as in Vista the amount of video memory is 823 MB).

All the best, and good luck on your new Windows 7 System.

As I said, and I kept my word, now I’m coming with a small review of the new Microsoft’s new Operating System – Windows 7.

It is a very nice touch I can say – from the start of the installation and to the end of the time that I sped with the new system I was very pleased.

The installation of the OS lasted for about 30-35 minutes, and right away I was able to use and play with the new OS. Right after the installation has finished the Windows Updater asked me to download some of the important updates for Windows and the drivers for my hardware equipments that I have in my notebook: ATI display driver, WiFi driver, Touchpad driver, Sound…Etc…Even they were 100% functional at the first boot of the system.

After the update completed I installed Kaspersky Antivirus 2009, Codecs and I started to look at the new features. What can I say is that the new interface is brilliant. It works and it looks fantastic – the new effects, the new start menu and Taskbar…are very nice and beautyfull.

Although is just a beta OS, I can say that am really pleased with the performance. I tried to overload the system, but all I’ve got was a small hang, for about 10 seconds, and after that worked perfectly. It works almost better than the first versions of Vista without SP1 (and this Windows 7 is just a BETA). I hadn’t had a very long time to test it, but I can say that it is a good system, an important improvement for Vista…and I say that if you are able to download the beta of this Windows you can easily install it and with all my confidence you can try it because it worth it.

This is for now, but I will come with more informations and details on how the new OS reacts when I use it with Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop. (I think that it will do great)…and maybe I will try to play a game on it to see if there are any improvements comparing to Vista.

Hello everybody, as you know, maybe, the Microsoft released for the public a new version for Windows 7, their new operating system.

Now, I’m going to show you how to dual boot – how to have the brand new Windows 7 build 7000 and Windows XP or Vista on your PC, and maybe the most important thing how to obtain an activation key for your new OS if you don’t want to expire within 30 days.

So, let’s begin:

Life hacker’s Adam Pash wrote a guide for testing the Windows 7 beta on a machine already running XP or Vista. It walks you through adjusting the partition size of your current OS so you can test the new system out without dumping your current setup.

Before you can get started, though, you’ll have to download the Windows 7 ISO image an burn it to a DVD. Unfortunately, the download links on the Microsoft site have been temporarily removed, apparently due to the volume of download demand. Links to the official 32bit and 64bit downloads were available for a brief time, though, and they were posted to a number of blogs. I’ve posted what appear to work below.

You’ll also need to get activation key or the OS will expire in 30 days. This is also unavailable at the official download site, though the Neowin blog has recently posted an alternate way to obtain the activation key as well.

Step 1: Partition Your Hard Drive

Before you go installing Windows 7, the first thing you

need to do is create a new partition on your hard drive to hold the new installation of Windows. Partitioning your hard drive will vary depending on whether you’re running XP or Vista—namely because Vista has a partition tool baked in, XP does not.

Resize your current OS drive to free up enough space for a Windows 7 partition (the minimum system requirements ask for 16GB).

Step 2: Install Windows 7

Now that you’ve done all the heavy lifting, it’s time for the easy part: Installing Windows 7 on your new partition. So insert your Windows 7 disc and reboot your computer (you’ll need to have enabled booting from your DVD drive in your system BIOS, but most PCs will have this enabled by default).

Once the DVD boots up it’s a simple matter of following along with the fairly simple installation wizard. When you’re choosing installation type, be sure to select Custom (advanced) and choose the partition you set up above. (Be careful here. Choosing the wrong partition could mean wiping your other Windows installation altogether, so make sure you pick the new partition you just created.)

After you select the partition, go grab yourself a drink and let the installer do its work. Windows will run through some installation bits, restart a few times in the process. Eventually you’ll be prompted to set up your account, enter your license key, and set up Windows. Keep your eyes open for fun new Windows 7 features, like your new homegroup (and the accompanying password). When it’s finished, you’re up and rolling with your new Windows 7 installation.

Here’s how to get your Windows 7 activation key:

Visit TechNet Downloads, sign in at the top right and let the page load

Within the same window copy and paste “https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/scripts/gcs.aspx?Product=tn-win7-64-ww&LCID=1033″ into the address bar or “https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/scripts/gcs.aspx?Product=tn-win7-32-ww&LCID=1033″ (64bit key but will work on 32 too, if you get an error refresh a few times)…enjoy the result below (32 bit link seems to work better), whilst stocks last. If you are still having issues try clearing your temp files and deleting all cookies.

And I will come later with more details on this new Operating System – as soon as I get installed on my

Computer and after I will “play” few hours with it

Please, feel free to ask any question…

Good luck !!!

I’m gonna show you on this tutorial how to surf the internet with your mobile phone (Symbian – Nokia) wihout extra charging your bill.

It is a tutorial i will show how to connect your Symbian mobile phone to internet via bluetooth.

I will post here only few steps, but at the end of the page I will pun a address where you can find the full steps and some troubleshooting.

Let’s start:

First you must have a laptop with a bluetooth device, or a bluetooth USB adapter.

Find out the COM-Port associated with the Bluetooth-Software

Next you’ll need to install a modem. Go to Control Panel-> Phone and Modem Settings -> Modems ->Add. Check the box “select modem manually“ and choose the “direct communication cable“. Now you see a list of COM-Ports. Choose the one you looked up earlier.

Open the properties for the “Communications cable between two computers” that was created for the Bluetooth connection.

Go to the modem tab and set maximum port speed to max (115200). This will increase the speed from the default 19.2Kbs to 115.2Kbs.

Now we’ll set up an incoming connection: At the Network connections page choose “New Connection Wizard“. Choose Advanced Connection->Accept incoming connections or just incoming connection (depends on your Windows version). Select the “Communication cable between two computers” that you have added just now.
On the next screen, choose “Do not allow virtual private connections”. Now you’ll have to add the user you specified in the phone settings. Also assign the password entered on the mobile. You may also choose to allow devices to connect without password. To do so, check the following after you finish setup on the wizard.

In the next dialog you are presented the network protocols. Open up the TCP/IP properties and select the “Allow callers access to the local network“. If you want to have the IP assigned by DHCP or manually is up to you. Windows 2000 users specify the IP range manually, since the DHCP feature doesn’t seems to work. For manual IP settings, you can specify any range of your IP depends on your usage. Here I will allow four connections to my host computer.

Activate routing on your computer. Open up the Registry editor by clicking Start -> Run and type “regedit.exe“.

In Registry Editor, locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

Set the following registry value:

Value Name: IPEnableRouter

Value type: REG_DWORD

Value Data: 1 (Default: 0)

A value of 1 enables TCP/IP forwarding for all network connections that are installed and used by this computer.

Quit Registry Editor.

Reboot your machine to apply the settings!

For more you can visit, as I said before the follwoing link (photos, better descriptions): http://web.singnet.com.sg/~kinston/Bluetooth%20Internet.htm

I hope that this tutorial will be usefull…

Cheers.

Here is a simple trick

(PS. The memory stick is formatted by default as FAT32 or FAT file system, which is slower and the maximum size of a file that can be copied to it is 4GB)

All you need is a Windows Vista PC – insert your USB Flash Drive into your USB slot, go to My Computer, right click on your Memory Stick, choose Format and from the File System tab choose NTFS. Mark the Quick Format Box and then press Format button. At the end of the process you will have a NTFS USB Flash Drive Memory Stick.
