ABC’s The View this Friday, May 24!!!

All eyes will be tuned into ABC’s The View this Friday, May 24 (11 AM EST, 10 AM PST/CST) as six-time GRAMMY® winner, TobyMac makes his second appearance in less than 13 months on the show.

He will be performing “Me Without You,” from his Billboard Top 200 No. 1 album EYE ON IT.

OH YEAH!! And I forgot to tell you…..HE WON ANOTHER AWARD!! This time it was at this week's Billboard Music Awards for “Top Christian Album.” OH YEAH!!!! Nad ANOTHER AWARD!!! TobyMac also took home “Top Christian Artist.”

Sunday night’s honors add to TobyMac’s impressive streak of winning at every major award show he has been nominated for this season – GRAMMY® Awards, American Music Awards, Australian Music Awards.

Prayers & Help for Moore, OK

Air1 is in a bunch of cities across the country including Moore, OK, which was devastated by a deadly tornado on Monday afternoon. The hurt from the loss of lives and homes will be felt for a long time. And for those of us outside of Moore, it can be a pretty hopeless feeling. So what can we do?

Pray! Saying we'll pray seems so obvious and simple, that we can easily minimize or disregard it - but it's truly one of the most powerful things we can do!

Give! There are a number of great organizations that Air1 has partnered with over the years that are working to come along side the people of Moore, including:

Hang with Skillet!

Skillet is offering their die-hard fans the chance to hang out with them on tour via the "Road to Rise VIP Experience."!!!!!

Skillet have just released the title track off their forthcoming album, Rise, which is available June 25th. The song "Rise" is part of the band's first ever concept album, as singer John Cooper explains, "The narrative idea happened after we had 10 or 11 of the songs chosen. As we recorded them, we started to realize that there was something going on - that the album was really telling a story. Realizing that, I knew we needed to make it as powerful as we could."

Skillet will also be hitting the road this Summer on the Festival Circuit. Be sure to catch them at Rock on the Range, Alive, Creation East, and Rock the Park this summer.

Jamie Grace Shares Her Story

At age 11, Jamie Grace was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, and has since traveled the country sharing her story and faith through music and speaking. This Friday, 5/17, the Grammy-nominated singer, now 21, will be on the JEFF PROBST SHOW! She shares the difficulties she faced growing up with Tourette's, and how focusing on music helped get her condition under control. Jamie also treats the audience to a performance of her Grammy-nominated single, "Hold Me."

An Ode to Mom

I've known my mom for 30-some-odd years. It's been one long series of lessons ever since.

I forget exactly what the first lesson she taught me was; at least the first that I remember and still try to live by. It may have been something about standing up for outsiders - those who didn't have anyone else to stand up for them. Actually, it could've been how to slice a bell pepper the right way (top first). No, I got it! It was how to be a gentlemen and always walk between a woman and oncoming traffic. You know, I'm not sure that was it either. At some point it becomes less about all these individual lessons and more about the collective sum.

But you know the thing about my mom and her lessons, is that class is still in session. She doesn't stop me from eating dessert before dinner anymore, or call me and ask if I've brushed my teeth before I go to bed. But she's still teaching me something all the time, whether she knows it or not.

Take this last year, for example. One year ago, my mom reluctantly retired after 40-plus years of teaching pre-school (yes, she was an actual teacher ironically). Shortly thereafter, her mother passed away. A little bit after that, her mother-in-law's health turned south. And then she watched her house of almost three decades get demolished for reconstruction. Did I mention my mom doesn't care much for change?

Yet true to form, my mom kept silently instructing all throughout. She served instead of withering. She spoke calm instead panicking. She prayed instead of pitying herself. I've never loved my mom more, or appreciated the example of strength when it would've been so much more natural to fall weak.

I'm not sure what next year's lesson will be, but my notebook is wide open and pencil sharpened. Keep teaching, Mom. Because I'm still learning.

How did they get the name SHINE BRIGHT BABY? Philippians 2, which, “Talks about shining brightly for the Lord, but we wanted to take what that verse said and apply it to the band’s mission and what we stood for. Emily wanted it to be more fun and playful, so she tacked ‘Baby’ on the end and it just stuck.” ~ Joshua
