In San Diego, it can get very dry either warm and cool conditions at the same place that make us looking for a humidifier for our bedroom. And then we have got this one in January 2010 after too many choices of product comparisons. So far it's been used for over a year on practically a daily basis. So my wife and I feel that the air is more pleasant to sleep and our cats certainly agree. I set it to keep the humidity between 50 - 60% that seems to be good for us. I have an electronic temperature and humidity indicator that I check when making adjustments and use that to get an idea whether to increase or decrease the setting.

Here are some reasons that might be make decision easier to get Sunpentown SU-4010 Ultrasonic Dual Mist Humidifier :

- It is ultrasonic to make a vaporizer humidifier , so no need to changing filters and the amount of mist can be varied. It can work through a tank in 12 hours or several days, depends on the setting, the weather and the size of the room that you place it in.
- Easy to refill the tank.
- Besides a very low hum, the unit does make an occasional gurgling sound, which you will get used to in a few days. I don't even notice it anymore.
- The warm mist is not exactly hot but it is warmer than the room air, so that's nice.
- Don't worry about leaving it on, it will stop itself when a red light show up. Very informative.
- Based on the visual level of the water and the setting, you will have a rough idea of how long the unit will take to run out of water.
- We use filtered water, which still has some minerals in it (we live in San Diego - hard water capital of the world), and even though all water goes through the filter, some white deposits do accumulate on the underside of the tank. You might want to clean this stuff off (mostly it comes off pretty easily) every few months. In any case, it's on the underside of the filling unit, you only see it when you turn the tank upside down to fill it.
Altogether, we are 100% satisfied with this unit. If it broke down, we'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Four Types of Ionization Air Purifiers
Normally, people are unaware that there are four differences of ionic air purifiers in use nowadays. Ionizers in general have been around for many years.

Definition of an ion: an atom or molecule, electrically charged, which has lost or gained one or more electrons, making it either positively or negatively charged.

A simplified explanation of the process. The ionic purifier produces an ions then ions collide with and attach themselves to particles in the air (opposite charges attracted). The particles attach themselves to other particles, collection devices or filters or solid surfaces and removed from the air. The exact process depends on the type of ionic air purifier used.

Ionization is produced and present around you in the air we breathe outside. Ions are measured by how many present in a cubic centimeter. "Typical" clean air outside contains 3,000 positive+ and 4000 negative - ions per cm3. This amount can be influenced by a myriad of factors and is constantly changing and constantly replenished by sun, wind and storms.

By the research that the natural balance of ions outdoors is generally better than most of our indoor environments.

Have you ever felt like getting outside to get a breath of fresh air? Interestingly enough, some scientists point to +/- ions as part of the reason for outside air "feeling right". Unfortunately indoor air generally presents a problem for ions. In most cases the number of ions present is much less compared to outside air.

Sometimes there are too many positive ions and an imbalance occurs in house. Generally the imbalance leans towards the positive but another problem could occur if too many negative ions are present. A balance is the best just like outside.

Ok, great you say, now what about cleaning the air with air purifiers....

These are Four Basic Ionic Air Purifier Technologies:

1. Electrostatic precipitators and charged media filters: mainly passive technologies; most of the ionization occurs inside the air purifier. As air enters the purifier, an electronic charge is
added to the particles. This charge is generally negative. The charged particles then pass into a metallic plate or special filter. This plate or filter has an opposite charge. This charge is generally positive. The particles ?stick? and can be cleaned by rinsing them off during cleaning or changing a filter. This is a decent way to clean air.

2. Single charge ionizers + or -: an active technology generally emitting just negative ions. This technology has some possible benefits as well as a host of possible negatives.

Benefits: does remove particles and some research has shown the health benefits of a surplus of negative ions. Negatives: particles tend to stick to other particles, walls, tables, everywhere ... and too many negative ions could upset the optimum balance desired between positive and negative ions in the air.

Many indoor environments have a surplus of positive ions ... this may be why some have reported great results with the added negative ions. Common sense points to an unbalance developing when you keep adding the negative ions either in the short or long run. You may have also heard of "black wall syndrome".

This is where many particles are negatively (-) charged by ions and then are attracted and "cemented" to a positively (+) charged wall. This is interesting interior decorating for sure. This is not the best way to clean the air with ionization, but generally the most common and least expensive.

3. Double charge ionizers both + and -: an active technology that emits both positive and negative ions. This technology is very effective and minimizes on the "black wall syndrome". It also maintains a better balance of negative and positive ions. Oppositely charge particles are attracted to each other and by clinging to each other, form larger particles too heavy for the air. They drop out of the air.

They are eventually vacuumed or dusted up or picked up by a furnace filter. This is an excellent way to remove particles. This technology is available from only a handful of companies.

4. RCI (Radiant Catalytic Ionization) is an active technology that is currently put on only a few companies. RCI or an equivalent is a combination of technologies wrapped in one. These technologies generally include UV, double charge ionization (+ and -), as well as a few other proprietary types distinct to each company. The documented results are impressive. This technology is available from only a handful of companies.

For the first time, It's bigger than it looks in the pictures: Stands about thigh-high. This put me off at first but then I plugged it in.
First impression: It's not doing anything then After two days: I want to have it's babies.

I have allergies miserable miserable allergies and I just moved back to Maryland during the worst allergy season I've seen in years.
To a house with three smokers. And Two Dogs. And Two Cats. This house has clutter (re: dust) and mold and four plants in the livingroom and old carpets. It has old furniture and crummy filters but it DOES have ceiling fans!

This house is allergy hell and this purifier? Ah!!! I swear I can breathe again. It cleans up the air (auto setting rocks!) of the entire 500 sq/ft first floor from *awful* to *clear* in roughly 20 minutes, and if it's running constantly, it never gets intolerable. In fact, it barely ever gets to worse than "do you smell something?" for more than a minute or two, even if there has been cooking and smoking and the dogs were in the rain.
Even if it only lasted 6 months before it totally broke down, it would be worth the price to pay every six months to get another one.

I am in love.

I purchased this unit, because of many customer reviews on amazon. This is an excellent product if comapre to the price I paid. It's built with quality. Some people have problems with the electrostatic fine wires breaking. I have had this a month and clean it regurlarly.
You just need to be careful with the fine wires and clean them with your finger like the manual says. This has a high quality Activated Charcol filter bonded to the Hepa filter. Upon my research filters for this are only 35.00. Other purifiers can cost 100.00 for the filter. Thats as bad as the printer ink scam. soon they cost more than the unit itself. We mainly purchased this for removing cigarette odors and smoke from the living room. I would give this 5 stars if it had a higher CFM rate for the fan. Its only 106CFM. Upon research this would be more for a 300 square foot room, than the 600 square foot as stated. On High
It will clear our large room of odors, and is reasonably quiet. you really cant go wrong with this. There is a lot of filtering technology here, and low ozone emissions. Over all We are glad to have purchased this. Its extremely well built. Only clean air comes out of the fan, and it smells fresh.

Perfect for people with allergies,I bought this air purifier because my infant was showing signs of allergies - sneezing, rubbing her eyes, etc. Within an hour of turning on this filter, everyone in the household stopped having sneezing fits and our baby doesn't have red, itchy eyes anymore. I'm amazed by how well it works. The unit is really quiet. The only thing I don't like about it is the size. It's huge! At a foot and a half wide it takes up a lot of space. You can't easily hide this thing next to the sofa. I'm still trying to figure out where to put it so that it isn't in the way but can still filter the air. Very satified with this product overall.

Good air clener,Nice and Quiet. The only negatives are the instructions which do not seem to match the machine. the diagrams (on Amazon too) show a large prefilter wrapped around the main filter. In fact that is not how it is set up. The small prefilter goes on the bottom of the machine. The main filter is in the top and they are accessed via different "hatches". The directions also show cleaning the outside of the HEPA filter. the reality is that the way the machine works you would need to clean the INSIDE surface of the HEPA. Otherwise works fine. My Asthma is much better.

quiet little air purifier
I brought this one recently to replace the sharper image's ionizer purifier, since I want something to shut off the ionizer -- the air has some smell from those ions.

This unit has three speeds. Another switch to turn on or off the ionizer.

The lowest speed can push enough air comparable to Sharper Image's high speed, without much noise. If no one talks in the room, you can still notice the sound. But if anyone talks or the TV is on, then you would not noticed the sound, even in a 8x10 room. Middle and high speed push 20-50 times more air than a Sharper Images ionizer purifiers. I wish it has a feature to push a button to boost the air flow to high speed for 15 minutes, then fall back to slowest speed...

For the price of a tank of gasoline, and free shipping from Amazon, buying this is no brainer....

Works fine for meI might buy a second one for my home office. As another reviewer mentoned, it is a little noisey on high, but the second setting (which seems powerful enough for my needs) has a pleasant hum that acts as white noice. It has a nice stable design...because it sets square and low, my cats haven't been tempted to try to push it over (some air purifiers looks a little too much like cat scratching posts). Instructions on how to use and clean are easy to follow. I'm not sure what the ionizer is supposed to do so I haven't used that feature, but so far I seem to be sleeping better with it running than I was without it, so I am assuming it is doing ts job. No complaints so far.

Worth every pennySince I was move to Virginia, I spend at least a month every spring feeling like I'm waking up with a bad cold. I had promised myself that this year, I would try a good-quality air purifier. I search information among the Sharp FP-N60CX Plasma Cluster Air Purifier, the Mitsubishi PlasmaPure Quiet HEPA Air Purifier, and this one Rabbit Air. In the end, they all had high ratings, and I am sure they'd all have worked well, but I liked the looks of this one. Turns out, it looks even cooler in person. More importantly, I wake up in the morning everyday and feeling great. Also, it's inaudible on the night setting which is important since it's in my bedroom. The smell sensor really works - drop a new pile of laundry near it and it will go off because of that dryer sheet smell. My room is just so much nicer now and although it can't follow me around and take care of my allergies the rest of the day, it let's me get a good night's sleep, which is all I could needed. To get into the technical side of it, there are two sensors - one for pollen/dust and one for smells sensor. There are indicators on the front which show the mode the unit is in (such as turbo, pollen, night) as well as levels indicators of smell on one side and pollen on the other. I also need to mention that the distributor, SPARO, is wonderful. I asked them by email before my order shipped to send silver instead of white. They responded quickly that that was no problem. Then I let them know that two buttons on my remote didn't work, and they responded immediately that they were overnighting a new one, which they did. Couldn't be happier with them or the product! You can't go wrong with this.

I just received my air purifier yesterday and had a chance to use it near my bed for one night of sleeping so far. I have mild asthma and I am heavily effected by Ozone (it makes me react badly to it) so part of the reason I bought this brand was it touted "no ozone" It does have an ionizer on it and those produce ozone. However, you can have it turned off at all times if you want. Even with it on my reactions to it are mild, I spoke to a rep at Rabbit Air who have 24/7 phone support and they told me it uses a low power ionizer so its not a smelly and intense Ozone generation. So for those with Asthma and Ozone sensativity you can turn off the ionizer! Also for those who are wondering the size it stands about 20 inches off the floor.

Works Really Well!
I bought three of these for our townhouse - 1. for each floor. We have at least 27 windows in this house and the dust is unbelievable! At first time when I plugged in these purifiers I wasn't sure I noticed any difference so I did a test. I dusted in the master bedroom which gets the most dust 8 windows alone and let this puppy go. Oh there was still dust after a two week period but then I dusted again and turned it off....the room was caked in dust so this purifier is definitely doing some heavy duty work. We've had these now for about 2 years and I think they're work great! I'm glad we went with this model. After 6 months just look at your filters - it's amazing how much dirt this machine takes inside the filter.

Good Unit
I bought this unit last year. It does a very good job for eliminating the dust. The owners manual says to replace the filters every six months. When I first read that, I thought that was just a tactic to make more money but after six months I checked them and they needed to be replaced a new filters, I turned it up to the next higher speed, and within three months they were dirty. The filters are not cheap (other brands aren't either), but that's the price I have to pay for cleaner air.

This unit has four speeds. On one and two, it's almost silent. On speed three you can hear it but it's not objectionable. I leave it on that one all the time. The highest setting is too loud.

The unit uses electostatic technology and at first the air seemed to have an unusual quality, like being at a high altitude but after about a month I got used to it, and now I would never turn it off. The only objection I have to this and most of the low to moderate priced home air purifiers is they don't adequately eliminate gases and/or odors. But as far as overall performance, this does a good job.

I recommend this air cleaner
I've suffered from allergies all of my life especially the last few years, they have gotten progressively worse. Last year, I lived in an apartment over two chain smokers and was constantly congested. I started researching about air purifiers because my medications weren't helping enough on their own. I ended up deciding on this unit for my living room, dining area, a Hamilton Beach 04163 for my bedroom and another Hamilton Beach 04163 to go on the other side of my living room as well since the living room and dining area and kitchen was all together and not separated by doors and was too large an area for only one cleaner to handle efficiently. I've been very satisfied with this unit. I got it since December 2004 and it has not given me any problems at all. I have had to change the pre-filters a few times but haven't yet had to change the HEPA filter. I like the way this system has what it calls Intellicheck which lets you know when it's time for the filters to be changed, as well as the way that it has the 360 degree airflow technology. The unit looks kind of like a barrel so that the clean air flows out of the top all around it. I don't notice a cleaner air smell like I have heard people talk about but I can definitely tell a difference in my allergy symptoms when I am running my air cleaners or not. And when I put my Hamilton Beach air cleaner in the living room which has an auto setting that detects the air quality. It had the air rated as being good from the beginning which I believe is due to the Honeywell 50250 which had been running 24/7 a few days prior to that since the Hamilton Beach air cleaner in my room had the air quality as poor when I turned it on the auto setting. I still have to take my allergy medications that I was prescribed, but there is a definite differences between when I just take the medication and when I take the medication and use the air cleaners. Lastly, I hope my review can helps. I also like the fact that it has a carrying handle at the top, and I don't interrupt about noisy from it. The replacement pre-filters are easy to find for this unit. The HEPA filter seems a little harder to find in retail stores but it doesn't have to be replaced as often so it is not too bad.

It is a real filter, not science fiction like Ionic devices
There is no magical, silent, super-energy efficient way to REALLY clean air and cheap price. PERIOD. There are only measured compromises.
The IQAir is the absolute best air cleaner available to the public right now. It makes a bit of noise, but very, very little for the massive volume of air. It uses a bit of electricity, but it takes power to pump air through such absolutely, ridiculously, fabulously purifying multi-stage filters. THINK about it carefully.
The filters seem expensive but THEY AREN'T. The filters last a stupefyingly long time. They are huge and thick everything they need to be, to stop greater than 99% of .003 micron particulates and the huge 0.3 micron particules that make the filters HEPA certified. Just try to picture the difference--a thousand times smaller. That's like the difference in size between a b-b and a 15 foot diameter ball. If you spend a bit more, you will get a gas filtering too. Spend a little more and get yourself a cleanroom certified IQAir, if you need it.
An IQAir Healthpro Plus just saved my wife and me from suffered while several brush fires over the past a few years ago have lapped at our neighborhood. Before having the IQAir, we both suffered gravely whenever brush fires were anywhere within 50 miles.
After two years of us raving about our IQAir, our next door neighbors who are asthma sufferers sought refuge in our home during the last fire which was a couple miles upwind and within sight of our house. One evening of easy breathing was enough to convince the cheapskates to pony up for an IQAir.

Great product
I have two IQ Air purifiers in my home.This Prefilter is manufactured specifically for the machine. I have had the purifiers for 3 years now and I am very pleased with the quality of IQAir. The purifiers should last for decades. When they finally reach the end of their life I would purchase another from the same company.

I've had a lot of different air purifiers in the last 25 years and this, by far is the best on the market. I keep it on low speed. When my kitties use their litter box, it goes on high for several seconds then goes back to low light; I laugh everytime that I heard it. No more dust particles floating in the air either! I also bought a smaller one for my bedroom and and love it too. I will never go back to any of the other brands and plan on buying a third one for another part of my home. It is such a thing as Sick Building Syndrome in the big city, a worldwide phenomenon, when chemical substances used in office construction such as glue, insulating materials, cardboard and fiberglass are steadily released into the atmosphere from electronic equipment, carpeting, furniture and fittings. That's why the air inside our buildings and residential structures may be many times more polluted than the air outside, according to the EPA.

Because of all reasons, Air Purifiers have become very important. There are different types of air purifiers including mechanical purifiers, electronic air purifying systems, hybrid purifiers and gas phase purifiers. Most of these systems remove particles and harmful toxins indoor air. And last one, Hybrid air cleaners use both mechanical filters and electronic technology in order to clean the air of particles. Ozone emissions may be present from the use of electrostatic air purifiers and negative ion generators. Allergy sufferer
This is an excellent product, I love an Automatic function where it senses the condition of the air and adjusts the fan speed accordingly. Since I placed this into our bedroom the dust accumulation is about 99% gone, we also sleep so much better and feel rested in the morning. I would not hesitate to buy this purifier,again it is made with such outstanding quality and so very quite.

Quiet, Energy Efficient, Will be buying more
Boy, I wish I had purchased this purifier from the beginning. BlueAir is truly whisper quiet (30 db at low setting) and I had a hard time believing it was on full blast when I had it on the highest setting until I put my hand near the top.

The CADR is more than enough for a 12x12 room size according to a conservative estimate from a leading allergy website. I like that you could have this right next to your bed and not realize it is turned on. The remote control is terrific and you can turn off the ion purifier if you like as well, although I am comfortable knowing that it's been tested by various sites with no ozone production measured from this air purifier.

Ordered this product via Amazon Prime and arrived within 2 days, outstanding service as usual (and free shipping) - well worth the investment for me.

I will look at buying some of the larger BlueAir products for my living room and larger areas and can't wait to have guests over now that the air is fresh and inviting.

It's the best value despise the high price.
Although, I don't have chemical sensitivity problem but I 'm very sensitive to certain smells. Certain food like becon smell makes me crazy and I can't sleep. I've tried everything. I had five cans of air fresheners around the 928 sq.ft. apartment on top of the two heated scent oils. I had two TrueAir units in the kitchen that I ran 24/7. These just didn't work for me. After an exhausive research on air cleaners and filtrations, I finally gritted my teeth and bought this expensive IQAir because it had 12 lbs of activated carbon filter.

As soon as I got it, I tested the thing out right away by cooking spicy Italian suasage for dinner. I dragged the unit into the kitchen and let it run at the highest fan speed for a few hours. By the time I went to bed, the smell was gone. It used to take a few days with two TrueAirs to get rid of the smells. We dragged the thing back to the bedroom and let it run at the lowest setting the whole night to test out the HEPA pre-filter. The next morning my husband woke up without a stuffy nose.

PROs
- It works exactly as advertiser claim.

- It smells of odors is gone. If you have a very sensitive nose, you'll know what it means.

- HEPA pre-filter. Allergy anyone?

- The fan is very quiet. The lowest two settings is hardly noticable. Even at the highest setting, the fan hums rather than blasts.

- It is programmable. We can set it to run just a few hours before we get home from work. That helps prolong the filter life. You can program the dust load, fine dust load, and gas load and it automatically calculate the filters' lives for you. So, if you live in a less dusty area, your filters last longer. It'll tell you exactly when to change the filters.

- It is a solid machine. No flimsy parts.

- It covers 900 sq.ft. One unit is enough to cover an entire apartment.

CONs
- The caster wheels work fine on a hard surface floor. They don't move effectively on carpet floor. I found it easier to half lift, half drag the unit between the kitchen and the bedroom. Because the heavy carbon filters are on the top part of the unit, this thing is top-heavy. When you drag it and the wheels got stuck, it tends to tip over. (it's not vacumm anyway)

An update on the caster wheels: One of the wheels finally broke off from being dragged while it got stuck in the carpet. I emailed the customer support and a set of replacement wheels arrived in a week. I only needed one, but they sent me a set of 4 free of charge.

- The assembly instruction not good enough. It doesn't show you how to put the carbon filters together. You pretty much have to guess what goes where. Don't wear light clothes when you assemble the carbon filters. I got carbon dust all over me. Since the carbon powder is very fine, some of it got loose during shipping. Imagine a bag of flour on the supermarket shelf. Except it's black.

NOTEs
- When you unpack the carbon filters, be sure to wipe them really good with damp paper towel. Do not use a cloth towel unless you plan to throw the towel away. Of course, the instruction doesn't tell you this. (It doesn't tell you anything, actually.) I figured that out on the second filter.

- Neither one of us has chemical sensitivity so we can't test that feature. However, I notice that the Clorox smell doesn't linger on for half a day the day I do laundry like it did before.

Solid, simple, quiet, effective
The title pretty much sums it up... I took it out of the box, plugged it in, switched it on and don't really think about it anymore.
I live on a busy street and the air inside the house was very dusty.
With this thing running it is substantially cleaner ....
even when sunlight streams in I cannot see any dust in the air.
At highest setting it is audible but not objectionable. I keep it at max minus one and don't hear it at all.

It showed up with a small dent in the side, which I should have complained about but didn't.
The shipping package could have been better.

Quiet Enery Efficient and it Works!
I should start with the fact that everyone in our household has allergies, even the dog I think, but that had not been confirmed. Currently we have the Blueair units in all the bedrooms and family room. The best thing about Blueair units is they work! We really feel a difference. Before getting Blueair my wife was not able to sleep thru the night. She would get congested and her throat would get dry so she kept waking up to drink water. Whatever was giving her trouble is now gone from the air and she is finally able to get a good nights sleep.
Outside the fact that this unit cleans the air, I do also like that it is steel construction ( I did a lot of research and that is hard to find), its quiet!!!, and its energy efficient. As for warranty, the warranty card says mail in for free 5 year warranty.

Bought after comparison shopping
I moved into a house with a dusty a/c system and started looking for a purifier to relieve my itchy eyes and stuffy nose. I had to go to external websites to get reviews on this product... [...]. I bought the dual pack for the savings, but overall the money for product puts it in the middle price category for purifiers and it's absolutely worth it. One of my units went in the bedroom, so noise was a huge factor. All the reviews of this unit being quiet on Level 1 were spot on, I can't hear a thing when it's on 1 in the bedroom. It also had a slimmer design than the floor units, and mine mount on the wall very nicely to still allow furniture to be situated around it. Two thumbs way up.

So far, so good -- and the oscillating is the best!
I decided to get this air cleaner after trying the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze and a larger Honeywell HEPA filter. At the time of purchase, the Sharper Image was the only one with a permanent filter. This was a big plus for me seeing as the older HEPA cleaners have 2 filters to replace, the larger one being nearly the price of the machine. This Honeywell tower has a permanent filter.

There are many claims for and against the Ionic Breeze. I'm still undecided on how effective it is -- but I feel almost the same way about my large HEPA filter. I found myself running both of them to control my allergies. Although I cleaned them regularly and found dust on both, I can't say the air was particularly different. However, shortly after turning this on in the bedroom for the first time, I could smell a difference. I haven't had it long enough to say it's made a real dent in my allergies -- plus the fact that my allergies are intermittant -- but I'm pleased that I even notice it.

One thing to note -- the Amazon description says there is an independently controlled Ionizer. I assumed that meant I could control it independently of the HEPA Unit. If that's the case, I have yet to see how. It's not mentioned anywhere in the tiny booklet and there are no buttons for it. For that reason, I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5. I did want to control the ionizer separately because I wanted to be able shut that off entirely. There are camps on both sides arguing for an against ionizers, and some claim they make breathing worse -- so being able to compare with and without it was something I wanted to try. If anyone else knows how to do it, then post it here. :)

Compared to the larger Honeywell that I own, this one is much more quiet on each of its three settings. When I first read the description I didn't pay attention to the oscillating function. Now, it's my favorite part of this cleaner. The oscillator is the thing that is independent of the cleaner -- and when its on, the machine rotates in place, back and forth, blowing the air in an arc. I like this feature a lot and I think helps with cleaning a larger area. Maybe the ionizer is attached to this feature?

This unit is significantly heavier than the similar looking Ionic Breeze. Also, the manual states it should be placed 3 feet from any wall or furniture. The cord is not that long, and placing the cord behind some furniture to get to an outlet has made it nearly impossible for me to reach a spot a full 3 feet away. Anyway, so far I am pleased and would recommend this unit to some one who is looking for a compromise between those two types of cleaners.

Pays for itself in filters
Confusion in HEPA home filters is starting to rise--I was at a local home improvement shop and they had a whole selection of machines--From True HEPA to "Hepa Type" and this one is supposedly better then "Hepa Type" but not as good as True Hepa. So for those who are allergic to everything, you may be better off with what Honeywell calls a "True Hepa." For me at least, I'm doing well with this model, and I'm relieved that I no longer have to buy 70 dollar filters for my old Honeywell machine.

It's worth every penny!
Though beautiful, after moving to Austin I experienced what a lot of people experience once they move here...ALLERGIES!! Medications would alleviate the headaches and sinus pressures but the sneezing and the watery eyes were, seemingly, incurable, until I came across the Alen T300. I was skeptical because I had tried many others before and none succeeded but I was willing to try anything. I plugged in the T300 (Very quiet) and left it running over night and the next morning noticed a significant difference in the air. NO SNEEZING or watery eyes!! It's worth every penny!!

Can't live without it
After living constantly with waking up to allergy symptoms and all kinds of medicines to address the symptoms, I finally saw an info-commercial for air purifiers and the light bulb went off. I did the research and found that the Alen and IQAir products were the best and cleaned over 95% of contaminants in the air where the info-commercial product only cleaned about 35% of the contaminants. The Alen was best price for feature for my budget with a lifetime warranty so I purchased it. Now my son and I wake up mostly free of any allergy symptoms and the feeling is wonderful!

Made a huge difference in our home air quality
At the recommendation of my sister, who has bought the Paralda first - we purchased the air purifier for our home. My mother suffers from asthma and terrible allergies and lives with us - so anything we can do to make her more comfortable is worth it.

The Paralda is long and slender yet compact - it easily fit in our living room and didn't stick out like a sore thumb. It is very quiet and has varying speeds. It also had a UV lamp that zaps bacteria - and anything the HEPA air filter doesn't get. I noticed the air seemed fresher and there was less dust on the furniture. It felt like the pristine air you usually find in the dentist office - fresh, cleaner, very comfortable. The Paralda is not noisy at all compared to our Ionic Breeze air purifier we used to keep in my mother's bedroom. The control pad was very easy to figure out - even my mother could manage it on her own.

We have had the Paralda for several weeks now - and my mother seems to have more energy from sleeping better as a result of our cleaner air - which makes the price, to me, completely worth it. I must also mention - we run the Paralda all the time - and we have seem no marked increase in our electric bill ... it is a Energy Star rated appliance - and every little bit of savings helps us nowadays. I'd highly recommend this unit.

Aesthetically pleasing air purifier with one flaw...
I agree with the other reviews that this air purifier looks and functions great. I feel like using it has minimized my allergies. However, when the filter is on, there is also a small light on. I cannot figure out how to turn it off after six months and I have concluded that you cannot turn it off (please comment if I'm wrong and include instructions for turning it off!!). I bought this for my bedroom and I like to have it on overnight. However, the light makes it more difficult. I still gave it 4 stars, b/c I otherwise like it.

Got this purifier to reduce cat dander, air seems much cleaner, purifier is tall doesn't take up too much room and the light green color seems to blend with furniture in the room

With only 90 days of use, can only say 'so far ,so good'.
Pretty much as advertised(with the exception that it is fairly noisey.)
If you have need for ultra-violet germ fighting light(which you can turn off&on),washable ionic filter then this will fit your needs..
Considering its barreled/odd shape & rather large size, placement is a minor issue.Small complaint but assume necessary to design..
Be aware that is does deposit some dust etc.on adjacent walls.
However:Filter washes nicely..
Ease of maintenance.
Now if it gives long term service would say it deserves 5 stars.

I leave it running all day!
I own the other Honeywell air pufier that looks similar to this unit but it is in white and LOVE it. So, when this upgrade came out, I decided to give it a go...esp because it had UV as well. I leave it running all day and night and it keeps the air feeling pure and clean. It is quiet and smooth. I am now considering buying a 3rd (an addition HFD135) for my family room. Highly recommended!

Big, Loud, but makes a difference
The difference in the air quality is noticable. I haven't tried to clean it yet, but it looks like it shouldn't be too difficult. One gripe is the blue led's. Would be nice to turn them off but still use the functionality (especially since they are purely for decoration)
