Vorsprung Durch Slammed: Brandt Lahr’s B6 Audi A4

Brandt Lahr is a hands-on man from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. The time spent restoring antique Volkswagens at his auto body shop helped grow his passion until he decided to lay his hands onto a 2003 Audi A4Starting with the engine, Brandt swapped in a k04 turbo upgrade and bosh 440 injectors tuned with United Software.The first time he drove this bad boy at H20i, he laid her out on coils but thought it was a complete driving nightmare on the nasty roads in Maryland. That very weekend he became convinced that he needed to pump the hell out of a set of switches and immediately bought an air suspension kit from the awesome guys Bag Riders.Brandt added a set of Air Lift front and rear XL Slam Series struts and a full AccuAir E-level management system. He also chose a 5-gallon tank and dual ViAir compressors to fuel the life of his setup.The interior of this car is absolutely insane, the whole dash and door trims are custom-made and the leather on the seats is diamond stitched. The entire headliner was also changed to suede and a Nardi steering wheel and shift knob upped his game to the next level. Oh, and yes, those are VW Beetle headrests in case you were wondering.The final part, the wheels. Brandt had 18″ fully polished BBS RS centres with custom-made Rotiform outer lips and barrels put together in order to get 18×8.5″ fronts and a whopping 18×10″ rear wheel setup.

Hawaii is a little piece of heaven on earth. You look to your left and see the soothing blue waves of the pacific ocean, to the right an intimating volcanic mountain landscape filled with beautiful greenery. The only thing that can make this land of beauty better is enjoying its smooth coastal roads in an airred out ride, and that’s exactly what Reyn Matsunaga of Kaneohe, Hawaii is doing with his bagged 2013 Scion FR-S.Having been through many projects already and searching for a new ride Reyn finally made a decision after spending hours on the AirSociety forums getting addicted to air suspension, and Ft86club forums getting addicted to a fresh new car on the market.Reyn knew exactly what he wanted, a reliable daily driven scion FR-S that would be driven low and parked lower, all the while being able to perform his daily commute with 3-4 copilots and never having to worry about bottoming out or hurting his new baby.To make the car stand out an aggressive yet sleek Five Axis body and rear wing kit was added to the car, accompanied with blacked out headlights and an HID kit to light up the nights sky.Next came a set of 18×9.5″ ET40 57 Xtreme Gram Lights painted Matte Graphite to add a subtle yet powerful set of shoes to a wild exterior.AirREX Digital Air Suspension was the icing on the cake. Front camber plates and rear pillow ball mounts made sure that Reyn would be able to get his car tucking his tires deep. When it came to both style and performance, Reyn had only one option: AirREX. Their bag-over-coil style front struts with adjustable dampening control make sure he’s always able to enjoy spirited drives on the back roads of Hawaii, drift the car on weekends and participate in track events while still maintaining varying degrees of comfort and practicality. Spring is in the air, the birds are chirping, the temperature is rising, and naturally, bagged Volkswagens across the North East flock together and return to Dubs on Defrost to trade winter stories. The traditional “season-starting” event for north easterners in the United States, Dubs on Defrost 2013 saw hundreds of people flock to Sherwood Island State Park in Connecticut in what would be the 6th installment of this event. Ranging from Subaru’s to Hondas, static suspensions to air suspensions, Dubs on Defrost offers more variety than the average VW/Audi show. Some people use this show as a chance to debut there rides, others showed up still on their winter wheels. Whether you come to show off and win prizes or to hang out with friends, Dubs on Defrost has a great atmosphere and has already become a great way to start of your season, hands down.

Finally Famous: AJ Gottron’s MK5 GTI

After years of hustling and trying to make a name for himself, 19-year-old Adam “AJ” Gottron is finally famous. All it took was a MK5 Volkswagen GTI and a little TLC.It all started at the young age of 16 when he got his hands on a rather clean 2008 GTI. At the time he knew very little about cars but used his new purchase as way to dive head first in to the aftermarket modification world.AJ began by looking for friends who shared a mutual interest in the aftermarket VW scene to help him get a better handle on what he had in store. 9 of his boys got together and founded Lowcally Famous and immediately put their heads together in order to find a way to get this MK5 up to par.They began on tweaking the exterior and worked on giving the VW a sleek OEM+ attitude. The front bumper was shaved and complimented with a Votex front Lip. The sides also got the Votex treatment while an OEM R32 valance made its way onto the rear and mated to a matching 2″ straight pipe exhaust.The inside saw a comfortable set of Corbeau racing seats take the place of the existing seats and a slew of OEM R32 accessories ensured his APR Stage 2 tuned motor would get the attention it deserved.Like most people entering the scene, AJ’s GTI started off with a set of lowering springs and quickly progressed to coilovers; it was only a matter of time before the inevitable happened. AJ picked up a set of Air Lift Slam Series front and rear bags and Autopilot V2 management system.A clean trunk setup was necessary in order to keep up with the exterior appearances. A custom minty powder coated 5-gallon air tank was mated to a single ViAir 430c compressor and tucked deep inside the recesses of his hatch.Now that the hard part was done, AJ moved onto the cherry on top of his ice cream sundae. After chewing through 6 sets of wheels including 3 sets of BBS’ Adam has landed a perfectly fitted set of rollers. 17″ BBS RS wheels were assembled to 16″ mint colored faces via a set of staggered 16″ to 17″ Rotiform step-up lips and barrels. Chrome dipped bolts and the hex caps polished with white center caps finalize the fitment he was looking for from the beginning and it was finally time to sit back and stare at his ride.Now that AJ is able to reap a bit of reward from his ride, he’d like to give a shout out to his boys at Lowcally Famous for their never ending supply of knowledge and his parents and girlfriend for supporting him during his 3 year build.
