Kilmainham Goal

Kilmainham Gaol is a former prison, located in Kilmainham in Dublin, which is now a museum. Visited Kilmainham Gaol on 9th of Feb. Really amazing place! Wonderful but terrible sad history. Its well worth the visit if you love your history! I'd recommend clicking on photos to view larger and all photos can be found in my flickr set here.

Such a sad but beautiful place Kilmainham Goal is. If you ever get the chance to take a tour around it do! It is very interesting and if you get a good tour guide like we did you'll learn a good bit about the building and some of our Irish history. The museum is just as good as the tour so make sure you have some time to look around it as well!

Wee Bit Wednesdays v2

Still no photos for you guys sorry! the weather has been unreal bad for the last few weeks and I was really busy over the weekend so nothing shot :-/
As soon as the weather picks up in the slightest I will be out and getting some pics for you! I have so many locations in mind to visit so watch this space! Until then another Wee Bit Wednesday :P They're very addictive! But I will only do one hehehe! :D

{one} ice: crushed or cubed?Cubed!

{two} what is your worst traffic pet peeve?Ugh, there is so many... People not pulling in a bit to let you pass them if they're really slow, full headlights and not knowing how to go around a roundabout.

{three} what room in your house best represents your personality?My bedroom! One purple wall, the rest a lovely white/cream colour, James Dean canvas on purple wall, dark furniture, DVD's, CD's, Book and lots of pretty and nerdy things! :D

{four} do you save old birthday cards?Yes! Usually in a box or that!

{five} when was the last time you went on a picnic?Oh man a long time ago! Hopefully I might get to go again in the summer if we get nice weather hehe!

{six} do you regularly check your horoscope?Now and then.

{seven} when you’re home, what do you wear on your feet?My runners but if I'm in my room my lovely fluffy socks! :D

{eight} what’s your favorite gambling game? I don't really play any, does Tetris or Solitaire count? :P

{nine} have you ever written (or started writing) a book?LOL nope! I wouldn't be good at that sort of thing at all!

{ten} what is your favorite musical?I'm not really a musical person but I do love Phantom Of The Opera and Sweeney Todd! I don't like the likes of Sound Of Music. Oh but Oliver Twist (the one with Oliver Reed) is pretty awesome!

Wee Bit Wednesdays

{one} what was your favorite sitcom growing up?Sitcom? Friends maybe? I didn't watch a lot of sitcoms that I can remember! I did love watching Hercules, Zena, Buffy & Charmed! :D Not sitcoms that much.
{two} what song always makes you happy when you hear it?Lipps Inc. - Funkytown! :D & Anything by James Brown.
{three} do you still have your wisdom teeth?Yes and they are still coming up! Oh the pain every few months!
{four} what is your go to way to relax?Photograph, Music, Movies, Internet or watch one of my many favourite TV series.
{five} do you play any instruments?Nope {six} nude beaches: yes or no?I'm going to go with no lol!
{seven} do you chew your pens/pencils?I used too. I don't really know though. I do chew on my headphones which is bad :P
{eight} can you change the oil in your car?I don't have a car!... Yet :P
{nine} can you curl your tongue?Yes no problem! :D
{ten} can you knit or crochet?Nope! But my mammy can :P

{five} what food can you absolutely not stand to eat?I'll give any food a try. There isn't really anything I can't stand. Just some I dislike and don't eat but if I had to eat it for some reason I would.
{six} How many pairs of jeans do you own?4 or 5? I think... LOL I'm not sure!
{seven} if you could have any job, what would it be?Photographer, famous one :P Photographing all my favourite actors, musicians and awesome people!
{eight} have you ever ridden in an ambulance?Nope! I guess that is a good thing.
{nine} how many pillows do you sleep with?Two.
{ten} on a scale of 1-5, how organized are you?Not really that organised. Like 2 or something. But I can be organised if I need to be so I'd say 4 for times like that! xD

Tune Tuesday

I have no photos at the moment to update my blog with so I decided to get inspiration from some other blogs that I have come across recently and do a Tune Tuesday! :D Just some music that I have come across and have been listening to recently. I might try some other ones like Movie Monday, Weekly Links Wednesday, This Is Me Thursday (ideas from Samantha Nandez Photography) and anything else I can think of for other days! Not sure if I'll be able to keep it up but it will make me more active on this blog! I don't like leaving it not updated for long! Anyhow if you have any other ideas of what I can do or what you would like to see let me know thanks!

On to the music....

Foetus

I was google images of Henry Rollins (Yes this is what I do with my time :P) and somehow ended up on flickr when I spotted a thumbnail view of a portrait. From the thumbnail view I actually thought it looked like Tom Waits because of his hair but it was an artist called "Foetus". He looks quite mad in the photo, a commenter even says so along with ""the nail" is spectacular". The photo is here btw if you want to take a look (you can see Henry is the next photo hehe!)

So with some more googling and youtubing I found out that Foetus is a man called J. G. Thirlwell. With some youtubing I listened to some tracks from the album "Nail" and soon after I downloaded it I liked it that much! Its hard to explain the type of music it is. It seems to be put under the genre of Industrial mostly but I think I would sit it in Experimental! It is very odd indeed. To me I can hear sounds of Mr. Bungle, Captain Beefheart (RIP), Tom Waits and it kind of reminds me of Nine Inch Nails first album Pretty Hate Machine. Its has that 80's thing. That is what I think anyhow. It won't be to everyones taste but tbh I really love it! I have to check out his other albums as there is quite a few of them (Including other acts and solo stuff) so the sound could change quite a bit.

I've also being listening to a lot, A LOT of Danzig. I really really love Danzig and I have their self titled album listened to through and through. Finally got around to listening to Danzig II: Lucifuge which is just fantastic. My favourite track at the moment is "Killer Wolf" oh I just love it and you have to check out the great video to go along with it haha! :D

Spinnerette

Last but not least for this post is "Spinnerette - Ghetto Love" Brody Dalle's awesome solo project! I honestly could just have this song on repeat forever. Its just so good! Also I want her tophat!

52 Weeks Project

I have decided to start a 52 Weeks Project! Basically you take at least one photo a week for a year. I already tried the 365 Day Project but failed nearly straight away lol! This is a bit more easy. I started in the first week of January and I have to have a photo by every Friday for the project.

I have my 4 photos for the month of January. I'm not completely satisfied with the photos I have taken :-/ Mainly because I kept putting it off and then had to take something last minute haha! That happened to me today :P I need to start having some photos taken at least before Friday and try and not take shots on the Friday last minute. But I am taking them at least! I am determined to win at this project haha! :D

Anyway here are the shots I have gotten already.

Friday, I traveled up to Dublin to see the wonderful Bill Bailey at a gig he was doing in the o2 (it was awesome btw) I was staying till Sunday when my sister & her boyfriend would drive me back home. On Saturday we went to see Back To The Future in the cinema :D If you ever get the chance to see it on the big screen do! It is very awesome.
On Sunday my sister tells me they have to collect something for someone and that we wouldn't be going straight home. I'm fine with that listen to my ipod on the way (Red Hot Chili Peppers). We stop at a house get out and there is a woman waiting for us and then I find out we are getting a new puppy! :D My mammy had arranged it and I had no idea lol! We had to pick out of 2 puppy's and OMG it was hard but one puppy in particular was lovely and friendly and seemed pretty quiet so we choose her :)

She was very nervous at first but she is completely full of beans now chewing anything in front of her including my shoes and the bottom of my jeans haha!

We went through a good few names, I wanted Zephyr (The Red Hot Chili Peppers song) but mammy didn't like it so we stuck with Bailey (after Bill ;)) which is much more fitting :D I think it was her name the moment we got her really! It was the first name I said! I'm still keeping Zephyr though ;) So her full name is Bailey Zephyr! :D

Nana's Homegrown Potatoes

My Nana grew some of her own potatoes this year out the back of her garden :D
I followed her out when she went to pick/collect some for Sunday dinner!!!

As I opened this photo to get a look at it I noticed the 20 euro note under the candle LOL that is a lot to leave there. People leave things belonging to themselves or others at this alter for healing. Reverend John Cantwell was meant to be able to heal people from all kinds of illnesses, he is buried in Tristernagh (I have yet to get a good photo of the grave) and so people leave all kinds of things (toys, shoes, hair clips, statues of Mary, etc.) in hope to be healed. One of the weird things about the priests grave is the grass doesn't grow on it. Ever. Even though the rest of the place is well overgrown and covered in grass.

Anyway this alter is in the ruined church people have left candles (mass might be still said there now and again I'm not sure), teddy bears (very sad looking ones), crosses and rosary beads.

Mary at Tristernagh

A statue of Mary on the alter inside the church. The light may be overexposed but I love it :) :D (and for some reason it reminds me of The Killers song and video for "When You Were Young" LOL :P)

I think Mary was left there by some of the people that come and go at Tristernagh. It has been there since I first visited the place.

My Nana's Garden

I took some photos up in my Nana's one Sunday in July. Not sure what to do with them as they didn't really work well as photos on their own, I found this wonderful storyboard template by GingerPixel here and started putting some of the photos together. This is the finished result. :) Hope you like. Only two of the photos in the storyboard work nice on their own so they follow along with more photos taken in my Nana's garden after the storyboard. Oh hai! & Castletownroche

Oh hai there! :D

Haven't updated in quite sometime! But here I am hoping to get started again. I have changed around the blog a little just to freshen it up. I've taken a break from DeviantArt (don't get me started on why LOL) and have decided to use my blog best I can by keeping it updated with my latest photos and/or thoughts. Bare with me for a few photos while I catch up with old photos but will have shiny new photos soon :D
I've decided to cut down on certain sites I use and just keep a few main ones like twitter, facebook, flickr and this blog. I'm still wondering about updating my Redbubble so watch this space...

First up, my parents and I went to Cork for a memorial mass and while we were there I got some photos of Castletownroche, Ballycotton, Garryvoe & other places.

I'll post separate blogs for each cos altogether would take to much loading and be a bit over powering lol :D

I'll start off with the wonderful Castletownroche. Its a wonderful village and if you are ever near it its worth a visit. Unfortunately for us the weather wasn't the greatest but still I'm happy with the shots I got. I'll pick my favourite ones but you can view them all in my flickr set here. Click on images to view larger.

A little drive from Castletownroche is Bridgetown Priory which is just amazing! So beautiful and well worth a visit. Here are some photos I got while I was there.

These are a few of my favourite things:

Photography obviously ;) And just any form of Art, I love to create, I love to look and be inspired.
Music, I'm obsessed but who isn't ;) It has the power to change my mood instantly.
Movies, I love them so much, just as much as music. I get so easily lost into the world of movies :D
TV. Supernatural, Lost, Gilmore Girls, Criminal Minds, CSI, Law & Order, you name it I probably have seen it and love it hehe :D I'm a tv junkie!!! I also love some cooking programs, some design programs, travel programs and Time Team!!!
Reading, I was never a big reader the only books I ever really read when I was younger was Harry Potter. But recently I've started to read more. Last few books I read: No Country For Old Men, The Road, Shutter Island (those three are now some of my favourite books.) I'm currently reading the end of Fight Club and will be starting Night Watch.
Nature (I wouldn't have most of the photos I do without it ;))
History, I love to hear stories of the past and look at old photos of way back when :)
Peoples stories, I don't know if it makes me nosey but I love to hear other peoples stories about their life or things/events that have happened!!! Love hearing stories from way back the most :)
All things Supernatural, Paranormal, Myths, Legends etc.
Technology, internets, my camera, my computer, where would we be without it ;) Haha!!! Lost!!!

There is lots in this shot!!! From left to right: An archway across the road, Anchorites Cell, Fore Abbey off in the distance & the last one is St. Feichin's Church & Graveyard. If you click here I have the names beside each building!!! Just incase that is to confusing!!! :P

You spend ages waiting for light like this, you should have seen how fast the light was coming and going but its worth it when you catch just a glimpse of that Irish Light, It makes a shot.

We had to climb up a good bit up the hill. In the shot you can see my sister (hehe) she couldn't go any further than that I don't think she liked the height but my daddy made me climb and climb and climb until we got here!!! Suppose I should thank him because no way would I have done this without him telling me to keep going!!! Lol!!!

I got this lovely shot out of it.

This was as far as we could go cos its just a big straight rock from there, as you can tell by the shadow at the bottom of the shot!!!

I'm happy with everything about it :D

Got lots in it too and love the sky!!! It rained and everything when we arrived but I didn't curse it because I knew it would give a great sky and that it did in all my shots :D

This one, there was just something about it I really liked. Its the Anchorites Cell again. I love the colours, the different greens of the grass, the way the sun is shining lighting up parts of the fields, the landscape in the background being lit up by the sun, the cows, the sky!!! I just like it!!!

Emper Graveyard, Ireland

I don't know much about Emper Graveyard I'm afraid. One thing I do know is its so old and completely overgrown! You are lucky to see any headstones at all.

Some of the grass was higher than me!

You'd know it is Irish Graveyard. :D

Also I have no idea what the monument is either. We think its a tombstone and a very fancy one at that but we could not find any writing only on the top of it (pictured in the middle top) that said 841. Very mysterious. :P

I have so many different photos of graveyards and some photos don't look as good on their own like they do when they are part of a set or viewed together.
I found this tutorial here on GingerPixels site and decided to give it a try, its just basically a collage of some of the shots I took of the wonderful Emper Graveyard and oh how I am so delighted about the result!

I think I will do some of my other graveyard shots like this too :)

Its shows you so much more of the graveyard and gives you such a better view of it and what it is like to walk around it.

Important: My Laptop Hard-drive Crashed

So my Apple Mac hard-drive is toast. :(
It was acting strange last night so I had to restart it but when I tried to, all I could hear was this weird clicking sound that I never heard it do before and the grey screen came up with a folder and a question mark in the middle of it.
Very odd indeed.
I googled (with my PC) trying to find out wtf was up with it and saw that many people had the same problem and nothing could be done about it because the hard-drive was dead and I would need a new one. :(
I only just have it over a year. 1 year and 4 months.
So the warranty is gone. Plus it looks like all my stuff will be lost but fear not I have backed up using Time Machine and copying all my photos into a folder on the back up hard-drive and oddly enough I only just bought the new hard-drive for backing up a few weeks ago. I just got it in time.

Anyhow I rang up Apple and its ended up I will get a new hard-drive for free!!! YAY!!! They will also check and see if they can save anything off my hard-drive so yeah that's good!!! Even if they don't get much I have mostly everything backed up.

Man it was scary it have it happen but I'm glad it happened now and not back when I didn't have anything backed up.
I lost all my stuff once before and that wasn't going to happen again.
Let this be a lesson for all you peoples!!! Back up your computer!!!
I'm paranoid about it now and I will definitely be getting another external hard-drive as well as the one I have to back up. Its really not worth losing all you're stuff.

So I have to travel into Dublin because it is the closest Apple Store to me (unbelievable you think there would be a closer one but at least I'm not paying for the repair.) I've already emailed the store and waiting for a reply just to be sure they can repair it and I also asked them how long it would take.
I have no idea when I will get back on-line. I can use this computer (my sisters) every now and then but the internet connection is very slow and I hate windows so... I will see anyhow.

I will let you know more soon. keep an eye on my twitter cos I can update it with my phone and it will have the latest info.

Some horses gathered in a field on a bit of height.
I shot this from my Daddy's car, he was driving and he stopped so I could take the shot.
They silhouetted nicely!
I'm not sure of the location but I know there is a river just beside them that my Daddy fishes.

Ok this isn't the greatest shot at all I know but it was just so funny I had to put it up :)
We where driving along the road and ended up behide a friend's tractor with his dog Mossy taking a lift in the transport box! :D

This was taken with my 50mm f1.4 lens and is cropped from a bigger image. I just didn't have the time to switch to my other lens which probably would have give me a better shot. The blur in the right is of the air freshener in the car!

It was very windy as you can see from the tree and it was freezing cold. It was also raining in the distance and I love how the sun made it go red.

Me and my daddy just drove around and ended up there!

You can thank my daddy for this shot as he directed me to it when I was taking photos of the sunset on its own but none of them came out as good as this with the tree. It feels very lonely I think and daddy agrees! But still I love it all the same.

I really like this shot.
I was inside Legan Church one day nobody there but myself and my daddy and the sun was shining through the Stained Glass window onto a Plaque and some kind of shrine.
I didn't even realise the photo came out so good and didn't find out what the plaque or anything said. Next time I'm there I will find out more info for you.

I have been sick for a quite sometime now but have recently been feeling better so I decided to get posting some of my photos that where taken from August 2008 to the end of 2008. (I'm not sure of exact dates!)

I will only be submitting photos and info about when I took them, of my most recent uploads and not my older stuff. Just a new start for my blog. I hope to keep it updated when I can.

At the moment I have about 40 photos to come. So loads of post coming I hope!

Foxhall Cross, Ireland

I was just down in Foxhall one evening with my daddy and was lucky to have the light shining through the gateway onto this cross.

It was just perfectly lit.

I've visited Foxhall on so many occasions and it can still surprise me with shots like this!
At all different times of the day you get different light coming from all different angles. Amazing.

Foxhall is the graveyard here in my village in Legan. I have visited it so many times like I just said. You can view all shots I have submitted to flickr of Foxhall here.

Taken on a lovely autumn evening.
I love the rose bush.
Definitelywant to go back and photograph it much closer to get more detail. And photograph more of the Cottage itself.
But still I love this shot, I love the lovely autumn evening colours

Sunset at Abbeyshrule Abbey.
This was taken back at the end of October. As far as I can remember me and daddy where driving around and noticed the lovely sunset that was in the making and I said to him to head over to Abbeyshrule and see if I could get some nice shots of it.
I haven't in a long time shot at Abbeysrule Abbey and didn't until now have a photo that I really liked from there.
It was a beautiful evening even though it was freezing cold. I have to remember to back some gloves when I go shooting just incase my hands freeze up, haha!

I was trying to find the best way of shooting it and it wasn't until we where leaving that I looked back and saw this!!!
I made sure and got the sun right in the window and it perfectly silhouetted it.
Couldn't have asked for a better photo to end the day.
