Rajut Free Knitting Pattern : 10 inch Notebook Cozy

This is last minute gift that i finished within two days...

Material = Double Knitting/Worsted weight knitting yarn (at this project i use Sweet Cotton from Poyeng color black and grey)
needle = 4mm SPN
additional = tapestry needle
finished size = fit for 10 inch notebook.

Abreviations =
sts = stitch
CO = cast on
K = knit
P = purl
3/3 LC = 6 sts left cable = yarn backward, slip 3 sts to cable needle and put in front of knitting, knit 3 sts normally, then knit 3 sts from cable needle.
BO = bind off
rib = ribbing

patt 1 (RS) = K6,P2,K6,P2,K8,P2,K6,P2,K6
patt 2 (WS) = P6,K2,P6,K2,P8,K2,P6,K2,P6
patt 3 (RS) = K6,P2,3/3 LC,P2,K8,P2,3/3 LC,P2,K6
---

CO = 40 sts with main color (i use grey)
do Rib K1,P1 for 6 rows.
starting rows =
Row 1, 3 = patt 1
Row 2, 4 = patt 2
Row 5 = patt 3
main body =
Row 1, 3, 5, 7 = patt 2
Row 2, 4, 6 = patt 1
Row 8 = patt 3
replay row 1-8 above for 8 times
finishing rows =
Row 1, 3 = patt 2
Row 2 = patt 1

change to contrasting color ( i use black)
Pattern =
Row 1 (RS) = K to end
Row 2 (WS) = P3, [K1,P2] replay until last 4 sts, K1, P3
replay pattern above for 36 times.
do Rib K1,P1 for 6 rows
BO loosely.

for finishing, fold the knitting and seam both side.

additional = you can add name or initials with duplicate stitch.

Knitting Show off : Headphone Cozy

I don't want to go outside..
so i grab my 4mm DPNs, some left over yarn from previous knitting project and start to knit 'clothing' for my old but loyal headphone.. .

Just few time and here you got.. a pop stylish headphone cozy :D

if you can do knit, purl, K2tog, and Kfb... you can knit one too... :)

a simple knitted baby hat,
because it very easy, everyone can knit one!

material =
katun Poyeng BIG ply 0825 (dark brown) and 0814 (vintage purple)
or any yarn that suitable for 4mm knitting needle.

needle =
size 4mm, circular or set of-5, 20cm length Double pointed knitting needle.
2 any cute buttons
tapestry needle

gauge : 18 sts = 4 inch
yarn weight = sport/ 5 ply (12 wpi)

size =
up to 6 months baby

abbreviation =
sts = stitch
K = knit
KFB = knit in fornt and back - increase
K2Tog = Knit two stitch together - decrease
BO = bind off
CO = cast on

pattern =
With yarn 0825, cast on 78 sts
Work back and forth
Row 1, 5, 6, 10 = K to end
Row 2 = K to last 2 stitch, KFB, k1 - 80 sts
Row 3, 7 = K4, BO2, K to end
Row 4 = K to BO edge, CO2 (with any method you like), K to end
Row 8 = K to BO edge, CO2 (with any method you like), K1, K2Tog, K1 - 79 sts
Row 9 = K1, K2Tog, K to end - 78 sts
Row 11 = BO6, K to end - 72 sts

change with yarn 0814.
work in round
do stockinette (Knit all) until you got 4" from CO edge.

Decrease 9 stitch every 2 rounds as follow =
Round 1 = (K6, K2tog) rep - 63 sts
Round 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 = K to end
Round 3 = (K5, K2tog) rep - 54 sts
Round 5 = (K4, K2tog) rep - 45 sts
Round 7 = (K3, K2tog) rep - 36 sts
Round 9 = (K2, K2tog) rep - 27 sts
Round 11 = (K1, K2tog) rep - 18 sts
Round 13 = (K2tog) rep - 9 sts

cut yarn and fasten off with tapestry needle.

finishing =
add 2 cute button, and maybe you can make a pair of baby booties with the leftover yarns to match the baby hat :)

Learning Knitting : Purl Stitch

Just grab any yarn and knitting needle around you and follow the pictures.

After finishing slipknot and do long tail cast on, start a new row..

This stitch has opposite result with knit stitch. From right side looks like horizontal line.

Tusuk ini kebalikan dari Knit. Dari depan terlihat horisontal atau seperti garis mendatar.

With working yarn in the front, slip the right needle to the first stitch from right front. (pic 1)

Dengan posisi benang di depan, selipkan jarum kanan ke tusuk pertama di jarum kiri dari arah kanan ke arah depan (gambar 1)

wrap the working yarn around right needle clockwise, and pull it out. (see pic.2 and 3)
Ayun benang di seputar jarum kanan, lalu kait keluar. (gambar 2 dan 3)

slip one stitch out from left needle - the one you used (see pic.4 and 5)
Lepaskan satu tusuk yang dipakai tadi dari jarum kiri. (gambar 4 dan 5)

Learning Knitting : Making Slip Knot

Are you ready for knitting??

This step is the very first thing you have to do. In any knitting project.

Because after this step, we will use long tail cast on, so before we start, please measure how long you will make the base of your knitting project, then multiply it to 4. from that point we will make this slip knot.

Ini adalah tusuk paling awal dalam merajut. dan dalam semua proyek rajut.

Karena setelah ini akan memakai long tail cast on, Tentukan dulu lebar rajutan yang akan Anda buat, kalikan empat. Dari situlah Anda bisa memulainya.

with working yarn on the right, make two circle (pic.1), see carefully the position of yarns

dengan posisi benang panjang di kanan, buat dua lingkaran (gambar 1), perhatikan posisi benang.

put the right circle to the left circle (pic.2), and hold it with left hand (pic.3)

Masukkan lingkaran kanan ke lingkaran kiri (gambar 2), tahan dengan tanagn kiri dengan melepaskan pegangannya pada lingkaran kiri (gambar 3)

pull the left over yarn to make it tight (pic.4)

Tarik benang pendek untuk mengencangkan (gambar 4)

slip the needle to the remain hole, and pull the working yarn to make the yarn wraping the needle. (pic.5)

Masukkan jarum ke lubang yang dihasilkan,lalu tarik benang panjang untuk mengencangkan (gambar 5)

useful tips :

If needed, use bigger needle to make cast on, so you can have more flexible cast-on result. - expecially if you a thight knitter -

Jika diperlukan, pakailah jarum yang satu atau dua tingkat lebih besar daripada yang seharusnya kamu pakai untuk membuat cast-on. Untuk mendapatkan cast-on yang lebih longgar. - apalagi jika kamu perajut yang suka menarik kencang -

Just grab any yarn and knitting needle around you and follow the pictures.

after finishing slipknot, continue with this step..

(useful tips : when you read CO = 8.. means slipknot is already count as 1, and you only need to make 7 cast on.)

hold both yarn (left over and working yarn) with left hand. still in holding position, open between yarn, with working yarn on pointed finger and left over yarn on thumb.
lower the needle in the right yarn a bit. (result pic.1)
Genggam kedua benang (panjang dan pendek) dengan tangan kiri. Masih dalam posisi menahan, buka benang dari tengah, telunjuk menahan benang panjang dan jempol menahan benang pendek.

Turunkan jarum sedikit. (hasil ada di gambar 1)

pass the needle point to yarn wrap at the thumb from below (see pic.2)

Masukkan jarum ke antara jempol dari arah bawah (gambar 2)

pass the needle point to yarn wrap at the pointed finger from above (see pic.3)

Masukkan jarum di antara telunjuk dari arah atas (gambar 3)

and pass the needle point again to yarn wrap at the thumb but from above (see pic.4 and 5)
Masukkan lagi jarum ke antara jempol tapi dari arah atas (lgambar 4 dan 5)

let go the yarn wrap at the thumb, and pull both yarn to opposite direction (pic.6)

Lepaskan pegangan pada jempol dan tarik benang untuk mengencangkan. (gambar 6)

Someday, i got a short of skein of Knit Picks lace yarn from yarn's barter with my knitting friend.
Shimmer hand dyed Lace yarn - sunkissed color.
A beautiful yarn with beautiful color..

Just a very little ball..
made me always think about what kind of pattern i will use for the yarn.
Then i decided to use this beautiful Lace Fingerless Gloves free pattern from interweave.

Really, i don't expecting that it will left a left over of yarn after i made this glove. But it does. :P

knitting edge is rarer than crochet edge.

but, i'm so in love in knitting.. so i choose to browse here and there, look at here and there, to find a knitting edge for my recycled skirt.. and the pattern must be simple but not too simple in result (if you know what i mean).

and here the result... i decided to use Godmother's knitting edging pattern from "The Complete Step-by-Step Knitting Book" by Eleanor Van Zandt (ISBN 0 86283 929 7)

knitted 111" long... it took days to finished!

yes, it's from a book and i have no right to redistribute it to this blog... but i think you can find it on vintage knitting pattern that occasionally found shared free on some site.

2 days ago, i draw a simple horse pattern inspired from another horse pattern that is more complicated and need more stitches,
then i try to made double sided knitting square with the pattern on it.

I think it succeed because everyone recognize it as a horse :P

How To : Make your own yarn pot

- This is a recycling project –

Just having a portable yarn bag was not enough to me to get a comfort knit on the go. This made me decide to make for myself a yarn pot when I finally found a container that seems have a suitable size.

And this is a simple way to make my own yarn pot : . . .
1. Find a plastic jars with perfect diameter according to what you want. (I use SoNice Sausage old plastic jar container)

2. Prepare pliers, nails, candles lit, and the cutter.

3. Hold the nail with pliers, then heat the tip over a candle lit until hot.

4. Stick hot pins into the middle of the jar lid (because of the heat, the nails will go smoothly only with a little effort)

5. Repeat step 4 until you get diameter of the hole that you want.

6. Use cutter to trim and (whenever possible) smoothing the hole edge.

7. Taraa! Now you can get more comfortable knitting activities: D

Do not forget to put the knitting yarn into the jar first and pass the tip into the hole before knitting with the yarn.
