Veeram Movie Hot Special Thala Pongal Box Office Collection All Over The World News:
as completely utilised the Pongal occasion as the film has generated a huge revenue from Tamil Nadu. The film, which was released on January 10, is going strong at collection centres.

Veeram Total Business Cross 90 Crore | Veeram International Box Office | Jilla Box Office

Veeram was opened up to positive reviews and wonderful opening at Box Office on the release day. The response remained same for the film due to Ajith Kumar factor in the opening weekend. As a result, the film earned above Rs 20 crores in Tamil Nadu alone.

The same momentum has continued post first weekend as the occupancy has been good from Monday (January 13) to Thursday (January 16). Veeram, which had garnered 90%+ occupancy in the opening weekend, saw 80% occupancy in the state on Jan 13. But on Tuesday, the occupancy reached again to 90% mark due to the Pongal festival. As it was a holiday, the turnout was high. Next two days, Veeram had 75%+ occupancy. Despite facing a huge competition from Vijay's Jilla, Ajith's movie managed to make such a stunning business. Veeram has collected somewhere around Rs 38-40 crores (gross) at the Box Office. Please note that this is not the official figures and just a prediction from traders.

Veeram Movie Review

MOVIE REVIEW: Veeram

Veeram
DIRECTOR: Siva
CAST: Ajith Kumar, Tamanna, Santhanam, Vidharth, Santhanam, Pradeep Rawat, Abhinaya
CLASSIFICATION: TBA
RUNNING TIME: 155 minutes
RATING: ***

AJITH Kumar’s Arrambam was one of the biggest hits of last year. After the success of this movie, the actor is returning with Veeram, so expectations of the film are high, and the trailers, along with promotional materials, just add hype.

In many ways, Veeram stands different from Kumar’s last few movies. He was seen in modern avatars and urban-centric subjects in Mankatha, Billa 2 and Arrambam. But in the latest film, we’ll see him in dhoti-clad avatars except in some songs. The storyline is set in a village backdrop.

Audiences have welcomed the film with a minor action sequence. With Vinayagam’s (Ajith Kumar) brother fighting hard with their enemies, the movie makes us think that it could be a complete action entertainer. But as the story progresses, people will be surprised to see a family-oriented movie packed with action.

Vinayagam and his brothers, played by Vidarth, Bala, Munish and Suhail, are bachelors and well-settled. The elder brother loves the younger ones to the core, and sacrifices his happiness for their good.

They are often caught in fights and they are proud of it. Santhanam plays the role of an advocate, who bails them out whenever legal issues arise because of their brawls.

Though the four younger brothers say that they don’t want to either fall in love or get married, when Vinayagam is not around, they all have their secret lovers.

Now, in order to get the green light for their love stories, they decided to make him fall in love with Kopperundevi (Tamanna Bhatia). Can Vinayagam change himself to win his love?

Basically, Veeram has two main plots. The first half of the film is dedicated to Vinayagam’s carefree fighting lifestyle with his brothers; the second half takes us to his desire to win over his love and the family members of his leading lady.

The first half of Veeram is packed with action sequences and comedy scenes. The director takes his time to build the plots. The second half is engaging and entertaining with all the necessary commercial ingredients.

A family audience will love the second half more than the first half. It is a welcome change for Ajith Kumar to do a rurally based story. It is nice to see him in a vesthi-clad role after a few years.

Kumar’s acting is nothing short of excellent. His stylish looks, fights and body language are a treat to watch.

Tamanna Bhatia is not just limited to adding a glam quotient to the film. Santhanam brings out the funny throughout the film. Vidarth, Bala, Munish and Suhail have played their parts well.

However, when it comes to the role of villain, Pradeep Rawat’s, Atul Kulkarni’s and Avinash’s roles are not powerful and audiences will easily forget them.

Devi Sri Prasad joined hands with Kumar for the first time.

He has managed to give us a few hit songs in the film. Nallavannu solvaanga, Ival dhaana and the title track are our picks. His background score is worth praising.

Cameraman Vetri shines again with his cinematography. His work is brilliant in some songs and action sequences.

Kasi Vishwanathan’s editing is neat. He should be praised for a well-finished look for Veeram. Last but not least, director Siruthai Siva should be patted on his back for knowing his responsibilities well.

He has brought the best out of the team and he should also be appreciated for writing the story, screenplay and dialogues.

Veeram is such an entertaining movie, audiences will hardly find drawbacks. The entertainment quotient is high and it can be enjoyed by all sections of audience.

ight in the opening segment, director Siva lays out his cards. There is a fight between two groups in a college and the new principal, who wants to put an end to this, goes to meet the elder brother of one of the parties involved in the scuffle. And, there, we see that the brother himself is a ruffian, who will feed people before beating them as he wants them to be strong to take the blows. But since this person is also the hero of the film, he is what we could call a genial rowdy, and the scene plays out mostly for laughs. The district collector, who is his friend, is present at the scene, happily requesting a similar "entertainment" the next day as well. If this is what your of idea of fun is, then, hop on aboard, the director seems to say.

The film is a template masala film — a superhuman hero, his cronies who will sing his praises all the time, a beautiful-looking heroine, a raging villain. It has no room for logic, moving from one hero-worshipping scene to the next and is aimed at our visceral tastes. The story is in service of its star and, it is unapologetic about it.

The plot, which kicks in only in the second half, and revolves around Vinayagam (Ajith) and his four brothers, who are do-gooders who will not hesitate to meet violence with violence. Vinayagam falls in love with Koperundevi ( Tamannaah), the daughter of Nallasivam ( Nasser), a pacifist. He tries to mend his ways for the sake of his lover, but when he learns that a revenge-seeking convict (Atul Kulkarni) wants to annihilate her entire family, he decides to stop him at all cost.

The very purpose of Veeram is to be a showcase for its star, Ajith, and that it does quite well. Right from the hero introduction scene, Siva creates moments specifically designed for his hero to shine — you see him being praised by those around him, mouthing punch dialogues, being nice to kids and elders, fighting on a running train, and in the climax, coming back from the dead to destroy the villain and his men. The best scene among the lot is one where Vinayagam goes to meet Vanangamudi, a goon with whom he has had a few run-ins, and orders him to do his bidding, all the while making it seem like he is begging for mercy, for the sake of the peace-loving Nallasivam. And, Ajith effortlessly conveys the heroic nature of his character and completely plays to the gallery.

The challenge with this sort of film is that it should keep moving forward without losing momentum. And that is where Veeram slips, at least in the initial stages. The entire first half involves the shenanigans of Vinayagam's brothers who, with help from their lawyer Bail Perumal ( Santhanam) try to get their brother fall in love with Koperundevi. Throughout these episodes, we are left wondering where the plot is heading and the film doesn't make it clear even by the interval point. The brothers too are uniformly uninteresting — all the four of them look the same and behave the same, and their characters are hardly defined. The romantic portions and Santhanam's quips, while entertaining, travel through previously trodden ground.

As for the second half, it coasts along once the plot kicks in and for a while, we are engrossed in Vinayagam's efforts to track down the various teams of hitmen sent to wipe out Koperundevi's family. But, even here, the villain doesn't come across as too much of a challenger to the hero, and, despite having an actor like Atul Kulkarni, Siva fails to build a truly terrifying character.

Veeram: Generous helping of masala pongal

A family with five brothers, another family with representatives from three generations, annan-thambi sentiment, amma sentiment, appa sentiment, and in the middle of all this, a big star giving his fans what they want (while also fostering a certain image, with scenes such as the one where he advises a truant kid to go to school) — if Faazil and Vikraman collaborated on a ‘mass’ masala movie, it might end up looking like Siva’s Veeram.

Early on, we learn that Vinayakam (Ajith Kumar) hates the idea of marriage because he thinks the bride who enters the household will cause a rift among the five brothers, who sing songs with lines that go ‘One-two-three-four-five / Venaam enga kitta wrong-side drive’.

But, of course, Vinayakam cannot hold on to this lofty ideal forever. Of course, he has to fall in love and shake a leg in a touristy mountainside (What else is Tamannaah getting paid for? Certainly not her thesping abilities).

And so we get this little gem of screenwriting. We learn that Vinayakam, in school, was in love with a girl named Koperundevi (fondly called Kopu). And his brothers hatch a plan to find her and reintroduce her to Vinayakam, so he can fall for her all over again. But... she’s married now. She has kids.

So the brothers conspire to do the most logical thing, which is to find another woman named Koperundevi (fondly called Kopu), because, you see, Vinayakam was not in love with that girl so much as her name, and when he meets another (completely random) girl with that name, he is sure to lose his heart to her, just because she bears that name... In a different filmmaking culture, we might wonder: Who dreams up these scenarios, and what do they keep smoking? Here, though, we just hope that these scenes pass by as quickly and as painlessly as possible, given the two-hour-and-40-minute running time.

Besides, the heroine — even with that weighty name borrowed from a queen of Madurai — is utterly inconsequential. Veeram is about the hero.

It is about his declaration that he doesn’t count himself as Thevar or Nadar or Vanniyar, and that his jaathi (caste) is the working class. It is about his breaking away from the metro mode of Billa and Arrambam, and donning a white veshti and driving a bullock cart and routing villains in front of shrines of fearsome village deities.

It is about him proving to his future father-in-law (Nasser, in a reversal of the iconic character he played in Thevar Magan) that ahimsa, as a concept, is all very dandy, but sometimes you just have to kick some serious butt. Everything else — the crude dramatics, the piles of clichés, the characters (especially the bad guys) who come and go as they please — is secondary. In any case, whatever one says is sure to be drowned out by the screams of delirious fans.

Veeram

Genre: Mass masala

Director: Siva

Cast: Ajith Kumar, Tamannaah, Nasser

Storyline: Something to keep a hero’s fans happy

Bottomline: Well, if you’re a fan, do you really need a bottomline?

AJITH IN ARAMBAM MOVIE DEEPAVALI SAREVADI REVIEW

noreply@blogger.com (Vijaykumar) — Sun, 10 Nov 2013 00:03:00 -0800

November 10th Sunday

Review: Aarambam Movie is a delight for Ajith fans

DIRECTOR : Vishnu Vardhan ACTORS: Ajith, Arya, Nayantara, Tapsee, Rana Daggubatti, Kishore, Atul Kulkarni, Mahesh Manjrekar Run time: 157 mins Language: Tamil

Fro'm the start to the end, Aarambam is an out-and-out Ajith film - a perfect Diwali gift for Thala's fans across the world. The film unfolds in Mumbai - Kollywood's favourite shooting spot these days - and Ajith once again plays a character with negative shades. Perhaps boosted by the success of his 2011 film Mankatha, the actor returns to the Salt-and-Pepper look as well. But, other than Ajith, the film has stellar cast, directed by Vishnu Varadhan.

The plot centres around Ashok (Ajith), a former bomb disposal specialist with Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad who is on a (revenge) mission. Ably supported by (Maya) Nayanthara and Arya (Arjun), Ashok plots the downfall of the state home minister (Mahesh Manjrekar), the kingpin behind many nefarious activities and scams plaguing the police force. How they wreak vengeance forms the crux of the story.
The gripping first-half breezes past, but the second half slips into familiar Tamil cinema terrain and is not as racy as one expects it to be. Though there are some boat chases and top action sequences (shot in Dubai), it fails to keep the audience enthused. The build-up to the climax is interesting in parts, but the film ends with a whimper. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music has too been a big let-down.
Ajith steals the show, but Mahesh Manjrekar is also a stand-out performer. Actors like Kishore and Rana Daggubati excel in their respective roles, while Nayantara comes up with another sterling performance. The scenes featuring Ajith and Rana countering the attacks of the terrorists have been filmed well, but it defies logic when a bomb expert is deployed in such a crucial operation with a single cop for compan y.
Aarambam is far from perfect, but it works mostly because of Ajith's mannerisms though it doesn't come anywhere near Mankatha or Billa. If you are in mood to watch a Tamil film this Diwali, you can try it out. Strictly a one-time watch.
S Saraswathi says Aarambam is a stylish and fast-paced action thriller set in the backdrop of the 26/11 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, that is unfortunately let down by its uninspired and mediocre storyline.

Director Vishnuvardhan’s magnum opus Aarambam, starring Ajith Kumar, released in theatres worldwide a couple of days ahead of Diwali, to give it a valuable two-day advantage over the other Diwali releases.

The film opened to packed houses with some theatres even screening 50 shows a day. Expectations are high for this multi-starrer, which boasts of popular stars Arya, Nayanthara and Taapsee Pannu.

The film also features Kishore, Suman Ranganathan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Atul Kulkarni and Telugu actor Rana Daggubati, who makes a special appearance.

Vishnuvardhan’s penchant for repeating his actors seems to extend to his music as well. Yuvan Shankar Raja composes the music yet again.

altimate Star Ajitj in Arambam Movie Box Office

Box office collection : Arrambam (Aarambam) collects 10.30 crore on opening (first) day

Chennai, Nov 2 (TruthDive): Ajith’s “Arrambam” has made an extraordinary business in Tamil Nadu and Kerala box office on its opening day. The movie has collected approximately 10.30 crore on its day of release, thus becoming the best ever opening for Ajith.

Trade analyst Sreedhar pillai tweeted, “#Arrambam – Ajith’s best ever opening !TN = Rs 8.75 Cr, Kerala =0.75, Karnataka =0.60 , North=0.20. Total = Rs 10.30 Cr (Approx). Super”. This is one of the biggest openings for an Ajith film and the trade experts are predicting that the movie will turn out to be a blockbuster.

“Arrambam” was relased on October 31, Thursday. The movie had a wide release with the film being shown in more than 500 screens in Tamil Nadu. Traders were expecting a good run on the opening day of Arrambam and as expected, Ajith starrer lived up to the expectations and raked in good collections on the debut day.

The number of screens for the film will be declining from today (November 2) as two new Tamil films – Karthi’s “All in All Azhaguraja” and Vishal’s “Pandiya Nadu” are hitting the screens.

Arrambam has to face competition with both these films from its third day. And it has to be seen if “Arrambam” will be able to withstand its momentum during the opening weekend.

Ajith starrer has received great feedback from both the critics and the audience. So, trade experts strongly believe it is likely to continue its good run at the box office and give out a tough competition for the other two Deepavali releases.

Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the movie also has Arya, Nayanthara and Taapsee playing main characters, whereas Yuvan Sankar Raja has scored music for the film. Movie is produced by A. M. Rathnam.

Meantime, Hirthik Roshan’s Bollywood movie Krrish 3 was released on November 1. It was expected to do well in TN as there is a huge fan base for Hirthik in the state. But, Ajith Kumar’s Arrambam affected Krrish 3 at the box office in the state.

Arrambam's overseas collection reports have been announced and the film is turning out to be a real out-performer. In the US, the film is already the second biggest Tamil grosser in 2013, after Vishwaroopam. From 73 reported screens, the Arrambam weekend gross in the US is 330,615 USD (2.04 crores) and this figure is expected to escalate in the coming weeks.

In the UK, Arrambam's performance has been described as excellent in trade circles and the film's weekend gross is 135,223 pounds (1.34 crores). The collection comes to 1.47 crores inclusive of the preview shows on Wednesday evening.

In Australia, the weekend gross is 55,953 ASD (32.79 lakhs). Arrambam has opened at the 2nd spot in the Malaysian weekend box-office and the gross figures haven't been reported yet. The performance has been remarkable in countries such as Singapore, UAE and Canada as well.

billa 2 box office collection first day UK, Australia news

noreply@blogger.com (Vijaykumar) — Sat, 14 Jul 2012 07:25:00 -0700

July14th Saturday

Billa 2 Movie Box office collection first day UK, Australia
Ajith Kumar's latest Tamil movie Billa 2 has opened to a terrific response at the Box Office in India.

The action thriller film has got a grand opening at the collection centres in foreign counties like UK and Australia. As per Indian trade experts, it has raked Rs 44.08 lakhs nett at the Box Office in these countries on the first day.

Billa 2 was issued 18 certificate by the British Board of Film Classification and this certificate is equal to A certificate in India. But that has not stopped the film from doing well at the collection centres in UK. According to Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has collected Rs 30.28 lakhs UK (£35,265) nett at the UK Box Office on the first day.

The Tamil action thriller has also received very good response at the Australia Box Office. According to Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Billa 2 has collected Rs 13.79 lakhs nett (A$24,469). The Bollywood trade expert opines that overall, the movie has received an excellent start in limited screens in these two countries.

However, Billa 2 has also been released in other foreign countries like USA, France, Malaysia and the Gulf Nations with English, Malay and Arabic subtitles. The movie's collection report of these countries is yet to be announced. Trade experts opine that the film's first day collection would cross Rs 2 crores at the International Box Office.

Billa 2' mania

Billa 2 fever grips the town. The movie has released across 2500 theaters worldwide, making it one of the largest Tamil releases ever. In Tamil Nadu, it opened across 600 theatres, and is dubbed as David Billa for the Telugu audience. It’s reported that the first show on the first day began as early as 4 am. The ardent fans of Thala Ajith are already queuing up to book tickets for the weekend.

The makers of the film are on cloud nine. Talking of the film's USP, producer Sunir Kheterpal, of In Entertainment, says that the film is a 127-minute unapologetic, quick and fast film, which does not waste any time with un-necessary songs in foreign locations and comedy tracks. “Less James Bond, more Jason Bourne; that's Billa II”, concludes Kheterpal.

The city is naturally on an Ajith high, and the entire credit for this kind of frenzy surrounding the film goes to the star, claim the makers. Billa is a franchise and has a high brand value, and the producers are sure this film will live up to the expectations of everyone.

There are going to be three surprise factors in the film. First, Ajith’s rival in the flick is the Bollywood hunk Vidyut Jamwal, who made an impressive debut last year with Hindi film Force. Other than Vidyut Jamwal, Kingfisher hottie Bruna Abdullah is also in the film. Former Miss India Paravathy Omanakuttan, too, is making her Tamil debut in Billa 2, and will be seen romancing Ajith.

Billa 2 is a prequel of Billa and will narrate the story of how David, an ordinary man from the coastal regions of south Tamil Nadu, becomes David Billa, a dreaded underworld don, with superstar Ajith Kumar reprising the role of the titular character. The movie is directed by actor Chakri Toleti.

Billa 2 rocks at Box Office on day one

Ajith Kumar's Billa 2 has opened up to mixed reviews from critics and audience. The movie, which was released in over 1,200 screens, has been massively welcomed by the Thala fans thereby giving a biggest opening for the Ajith film in the recent years.

The reports emerging from traders say that Ajith Kumar's movie was released in above 500 screens in Tamil Nadu and the majority of theatres got cent percent opening. Especially, in Chennai, not only single screens but also multiplexes ran for packed houses. The buzz is that the movie has got good opening in foreign countries like Malaysia, Dubai, etc.

According to reports, the tickets for the weekends have already been sold, which means that the first weekend will almost witness 100% occupancy. However, distributor Aascar Ravichandran could only recover his invested money on Billa 2, if the film gets the same kind of response for the next 10 days.

Billa 2 directed by Chakri Toleti is a prequel to Billa. The movie starring Ajith Kumar, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah is a gangster-thriller flick.

Box Office: Ajith Kumar's 'Billa 2' opens to full houses
It was nothing short of a festival in theatres screening 'Billa 2', as the 51st film of Ajith hit the screens all over the world today amid huge celebrations from his fans.

Cinema halls in Tamil Nadu started screening the film as early as 6 am, and hence fans started thronging theatres from 3 am itself. They burst crackers, conducted 'paal abhishekam' to Ajith cut outs and banners, and raised slogans in praise of the 'Thala'.

According to sources close to Aascar V Ravichandran, who has bagged the distribution rights for Tamil Nadu, the film simultaneously hit more than 1200 screens across the globe.

On Thursday afternoon, the 'Billa 2' unit conducted a media meet in which the producers and the director (Chakri Toleti) expressed confidence that the movie would become a super hit.

The star cast of the movie include Ajith Kumar, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, Raghuman, Prabhu, Manoj K. Jayan, Vidyut Jamwal and Sudhanshu Pandey.

Parvathy Omanakuttan, Vidyut Jamwal, Sudhanshu Pandey and Bruna Abdullah all of them make their first appearance in Tamil cinema.

The filming took place mainly at Georgia, Hyderabad and Goa. Billa 2 releases worldwide on 13 July 2012. The dubbed Telugu version is named as David Billa and it is also releasing on the same day in Andhra Pradesh.

BILLA 2: A GAMING FIRST

In the current era, just making a good film isn’t enough, reaching that film to the audience is of even more prime importance. Most of the big stars and producers have realized that and have been spending time and efforts towards marketing their films. Stars like Ajith, who still feel that a good film will take care of itself, are very rare. Stars like SRK, Ranbir and Suriya are more the norm.

But, film marketing as a culture hasn’t picked up in Tamil cinema. By marketing, Tamil producers still mean the mandatory wall posters, pre-release press meets, interactions on FM radio stations, TV promos and the interviews given by stars to websites and newspapers.

In stark contrast to this is the Bollywood marketing culture where in some cases, the marketing budget is about 40% of the total budget. For small budget films, the marketing expense is sometimes more than the cost of production itself.

In Hollywood, the general norm is about 30 to 40% of the total movie’s budget being allocated for marketing and promotions. But, in Tamil cinema, that is not the case. Of course we can argue that the reach of Tamil films is very narrow, compared to Hindi films and so producers can’t afford to spend so much on marketing.

Promisingly, the collections of some big heroes’ Tamil films, match up to their Hindi counterparts in prime overseas markets like US and UK. In countries like Srilanka, Malaysia and Singapore, Tamil films dominate and in Japan, our superstar has exclusive domination rights.

In such a promising scenario, stars and producers are waking up to newer trends like the amazingly versatile and flexible internet medium. Bollywood spends up to 15% of the total budget on digital marketing. This constitutes almost half the total marketing budget. The logic is simple. The youth in their 20s and 30s are the prime target audience nowadays and they are prominently on the internet discussing about a whole lot of things.

Trailers on YouTube are the most cost effective way to reach the target audience – this youth who flock to the theaters in the first weekend.

With the reducing life cycle of movies at the theaters, it becomes a necessity to attract maximum audience in the first 3 days. 100 days is no longer the norm. In Hindi cinema, 100 crores net collection is the new silver jubilee. In the same way in the regional movie markets, earlier the break-even stage, greater is the success.

Gaming is another versatile solution that has been used by Bollywood movies since the past decade. Instant recall would give you web and mobile games made for movies like Ra One (even a PlayStation game was made), the Don movies, Dhoom 2, Ghajini, Agent Vinod, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Singham and Krrish to name a few.

Gaming catered to a new target audience that hasn’t seen Hindi films religiously – the geeks who are big time into games and who treat Hindi films as an assault to their senses. Games based on movies definitely up the curiosity levels of such people. For the general masses, games still aren’t a big decision making factor. They look for pure entertainment. But, gaming as a marketing tool for movies is definitely IN and will pick up in the years ahead.

Back home in the Tamil industry, Billa 2 is expected to open the floodgates. An online and mobile game based on Billa 2, developed by Hungama was recently launched by one of the lead actress, Bruna Abdullah. Earlier, an exclusive Billa 2 beach calendar was launched featuring both the actresses. In that sense, the team of Billa 2 has opened up the mindset of Tamil producers by doing something different. They are already exploring the social media space with Billa 2 fan pages getting amazing response from the fans. Their YouTube channel is also a major hit with both the teaser and theatrical trailer creating records for hits garnered. They have also launched digital posters, teasers of the songs and small promos on their YouTube channel. Definitely proactive and something different.

Come Friday 13th, all these focused marketing activities are expected to bear fruition at the boxoffice.

Ajith's next to have stunning graphics

Ajith is in the spotlight now in K-town, with his gangster movie Billa 2 hitting the screens tomorrow. But the actor is busy with his next project with director Vishnuvardhan. The team has been shooting in Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Now the film’s director has revealed that the film will involve never before seen CG works. “I’m planning to bring in extraordinary graphic works that will stun the audience,” said Visnuvardhan in a recent interview.

The film also stars Arya, Nayanthara, Taapsee, Kishore, Suman Ranganathan, Mahesh Manjrekar and Atul Kulkarni in important roles. PS Vinod is cranking the camera and Sreekar Prasad is editing it. Yuvan Shankar Raja is looking to give another musical hit for Ajith with this film.

Billa 2 movie review: Ajith set to leave Eega behind at BO
