What is Inbound Marketing?

Let’s start with the definition.

According to Hubspot, inbound marketing is an approach focused on attracting customers through content and interactions that are relevant and helpful — not interruptive. With inbound marketing, potential customers find you through channels like blogs, search engines, and social media.

What do we have to focus on this definition?

Attracting: we do not chase the client the way we do with traditional marketing (we’ll come back to this later). The user comes voluntarily.
Qualified traffic: your content should focus on your audience and not on just anyone and everyone. Here we can again see the importance of defining the buyer persona.
Creating loyal customers: we won’t stop at attracting, we will continue to create content that makes the users become a lead and then a client (continuing through our sales funnel).

The opposite strategy of inbound is outbound marketing (the traditional way of promoting products and services).

Disadvantages

Format: there is more than just text, you also have videos, podcasts, images, etc.
Editorial schedule: establish the frequency and when you will publish.

Besides content creation, there are other strategies that you can use to get more traffic.

Social networks: share interesting content for your audience on your social networks so you can direct traffic to your website later.

Once they are on our website, we continue to push them through our sales funnel.

2. From a visitor to the subscriber (lead)

The second stage is about converting that visitor into a subscriber (also known as lead).

In order to get their email addresses, we can offer them an eBook, a course, or even a free trial of our services. There are two ways of doing this.

Lead magnet (“bait for hooking leads”): for example, if you have a dog food e-commerce, a good lead magnet would be a “Beginner’s Guide to Dog Nutrition”.

How hot the lead depends on many factors:

B. LEAD NURTURING

This is the process of educating, growing, and feeding (quite literally “nurturing”) the potential client.

Cold lead: we send general content so that clients can see the different solutions available. They start to notice the need.

Hey guys, Harsh here and today I will be sharing one interesting tutorial for you. So I have mentioned about BufferApp a lot of time and this is one important social media tool that you should be using. So first let me quickly explain how BufferApp works? What it can do for you? So very first thing, BufferApp is just another social media tool which helps you to keep your social media account active. So there are times when you are reading and you see you have so many articles to send to your readers, but the thing is if you send so many articles in a short time, that’s very annoying in social media sites.

So what we do? We use a tool like Buffer where we add all the interesting articles that we have to share and BufferApp automatically shares them after pre-defined time. So you can set your own timing, for me, I have set timing let’s say after every 5 hours, I should do it once. so what I do whenever I have to share something, whenever I have to say something on twitter which is not time sensitive, I simply add it to Buffer, so that was my twitter account stays active and relevant. So in this tutorial I will be showing you how you can use Buffer and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me via comments. so you can get started with Buffer for free, they also have premium accounts, premium features which you should definitely look at especially if you are a power social media user like me, a paid plan is what you should look out for.

So right now I am connected to a free account and let me show you how you can add your social media account. So Buffer supports a wide variety of social media sites like Facebook, twitter, google+ and LinkedIn and also you can use your Facebook profile or page depending upon your need. So in this case I will show you how I will be adding a page to my Buffer account. so first of few things, you should be logged in to your Facebook account and just give permission to Buffer to access your Facebook profile and so I select my page Eco Hunters, so this is my friend’s page, I am helping him to go social. So that’s it, now here you can see it already started showing my Eco Facebook page. now here are few things, so I have also connected my twitter account over here, so now, depending whenever I have to share, I can share on one ID or I can share on both the ID’s depending upon my sharing. So I will quickly just add few tweets for my twitter account to show you how it works.

So here I can add ‘Share now’ or ‘Share next’ and that’s it. So it will be shared at today’s 9:01 pm, that’s almost like half an hour from now and like this I can keep adding more tweets, so I will just simply add some random tweets. So here you can also see the number of buffered status updates in your account, so what will happen now that my first tweet will go at 9:01pm and next tweets will go at tomorrow morning 7:41 and then 11:31. I can also change my schedule depending upon how frequently I want to publish my updates. So here I can set the updates, I can also set updates based on days which are again very useful as people are more active on twitter on Thursday or Friday and less active on Monday or even Sunday evening, so in that case, I can change my schedule depending upon my user base. So this is something which is going to be very helpful for you.

So similarly I can do the same for my Facebook page. Now there is one important thing, Buffer also offers lots of add-ons, so basically when you are on any page, you click on Buffer icon over here and then I can simply select the account I want to share and that’s it. Click on Buffer. So pretty much this is for Buffer, if you are just getting started with social media or just want to learn BufferApp, I hope I have answered.

all right guys, so I thought I would rather show you my Buffer account so that you can also understand what other features that you don’t get in the free account, so this is my pro account and the most interesting thing, like I have added many of my twitter account, Facebook account, google+ pages. So basically I use this tool to keep all my social media account active and keep them updated. so I usually spend two hours a month on one social media account, add them, buffer them, stack them with so many tweet updates so that my account stays active.

So I am sure you must have understood that part of Buffer by now, so here is one interesting thing and that is Analytic. Now with the Analytic, I can also analyses which of my posts are working really good and which of my post are not working that great. so the updates that are already working great, I usually re-schedule them so that it reaches out to more people and here is an interesting thing, you can quickly drag/drop the post from your analytic panel to stack up your social media accounts, so that’s another very handy feature. Since it’s easy to subscribe to browser-based push notifications, sometimes we overwhelm ourselves by subscribing to too many blogs via push notifications.

Things get really bad when you open your system after 2-3 days & you are bombarded with a ton of updates.

This guide will help you disable push notifications on your Chrome browser. You can either disable desktop-based push notifications for all sites or for select sites.

Do remember, this kind of notification can only be disabled only from your end & there is no need to contact the website owner.

To make it easier for you to understand the process of blocking Chrome push notifications, I have added a video in a later part of this tutorial.

Disabling Chrome Web Push Notifications: Tutorial

Here is how you can get started.

In the Chrome browser, open a new tab and type:

(You will see a screen like the one below.)

Now scroll down to Notifications and click on Manage exceptions…

Here you have two options:

You can block all notifications by clicking “Do not allow any site to show notifications”.

Or you can select certain sites from sending push notifications by clicking on the “x”.

When you click on the “x” to remove the domain from the exceptions list, you will be again prompted to subscribe when you visit the site again.

If you don’t want to get the prompt & don’t want to receive Chrome desktop push notifications for this site, simply click the drop down option and select Block.

Spend more time being creative with these top tips for improving your project management skills. It isn't the sexiest side of design, but solid project management facilitates creativity. After all, the faster you clear the essential business side of things, the more time you have for the creative. Better time management is part of it (read nine tips here), but there are many other things you can do to. Here are seven tips for working more efficiently...

01. A tidy desk 

A tidy desk is a tidy mind (image: Jo Gulliver) Whether or not the old adage is true, a bit of organisation – both physically and digitally – certainly goes a long way. Set up email folders, filing systems and job numbers, and keep on top of them. Add dates to the start of file names in year/month/day format so that different versions are listed in order, and always name and manage your layers. Trying to decipher what's going on retrospectively is just a waste of time, and having to go back to the client to ask for files again because a download's expired can be embarrassing.

02. Make milestones 

Mark out some clearly defined milestones for different stages of a project, such as first sketches, presentations, approvals and final layouts, and get them signed off. Map these onto your schedule to make sure they're achievable: this is particularly useful for more complex projects.   

03. Customise your workspace  

Organise your workspace to suit you. It should be second nature: if you're constantly looking for a particular function, it'll chip away at your working time. When you're used to the location of everything it'll free up more of your energy to focus on the project at hand. If you have a laptop, set up a separate monitor and use the laptop for all your panels, leaving your monitor completely free for the design work. Of course, when you use the laptop on its own the screen will be covered in panels. To work around this, set up two custom workspaces in your design software.  

04. Learn shortcuts  

One of the quickest ways to speed up your workflow is to set up shortcuts – and learn them. Also, if you repeatedly do certain procedures in Photoshop, why not record them as an action?   

05. Project management tools 

Staying on top of your workload, tracking time and invoices, tending to your to-do lists and updating your clients are all daily activities that need to be fitted in. Luckily there are a number of affordable, easy-to-use project management tools out there to help you juggle multiple projects and workflows. Solo, Action Method and Basecamp are just three available options, all of which are set up to help you make your workflow as efficient and painless as possible. Give them a go.  

06. Learn the brief 

Always get the brief nailed down at the start, and make sure you're on the same page as the client. Agreeing deadlines for different stages helps everyone to be clear on how long everything will take; and pinning down a beginning, middle and end will stop things rambling out of control. Stay realistic when you're under tight time constraints.  

07. Back it up 

It sounds obvious, but hit Save as often as possible: the last thing you want is for your computer to crash and lose all your work, hours before a crucial deadline. As your project progresses, create a new folder for each key phase and go to File>Save As, using numbers as your filenames. That way, you aren't just overwriting the file and can shuffle back through versions if you need to double-back on yourself later. Invest in a decent hard drive, too. Your sanity will thank you.

How To Setup Custom Domain on Blogger using Domain From GoDaddy

We all know custom domain name helps in better blog branding. Moreover, when ever you migrate BlogSpot to WordPress, you preserve your brand name, and your domain name stays the same. So even if you are blogging on BlogSpot blog, the first step which you need to do is grab the custom domain name for your blog.

In simple word, when you start with a free BlogSpot blog, you get a domain name like domain.blogspot.com

When you set up a custom domain on BlogSpot, your blog URL will be like domain.com.

Now in this tutorial, I will be helping you with how to set up a custom domain name with domain bought from GoDaddy. GoDaddy is one of the biggest domain company, and it’s trustworthy company to buy domains.

So by now, I assume you have bought your domain from GoDaddy and now let’s start with the set up of a custom domain.

How to Add a Custom Domain in Blogger:

So far we have successfully added the A record and CNAME record to set up the domain to point to Google server. Now all we need to do is log in to BlogSpot.com and add this domain as a custom domain on Blogger. Here is another step by step guide for the same:

Login to BlogSpot.com
Click on setting in front of domain for which you planning to set up custom domain
Go to settings>publishing

On the next page, click on setup a 3rd party URL for your blog. Now add the domain name that you have purchased from GoDaddy.

Click on Save & this should give following error:

Now you need to add CNAME record on your GoDaddy account. Along with CNAME, you also need to add A record for your domain. This is pretty easy & let’s get done with this too.

Setting up Custom Domain Name on BlogSpot using GoDaddy

Login to your GoDaddy account and click on the domain name for which you wish to set up a custom domain with your BlogSpot blog.

Now you will be on advanced domain set up page. Click on DNS zone file (Refer to screenshot).

Adding A record on GoDaddy domains:

Now to start with we will add A record. Click 4 times on Quick add and following records:

@ 216.239.32.21
@ 216.239.34.21
@ 216.239.36.21
@ 216.239.38.21

See the screenshot for reference:

Once done, click on Save Zone file on the top left. Within seconds you will get the confirmation message that your zone file has been updated.

Before we move ahead, delete the default A record. In this case, it’s the one with the value: 68.178.232.100

Adding CNAME record:

So far we have done adding A record, and now we have to add CNAME record. In CNAME record, find www under Host entry and by default it’s entry will be @.

Something like this screenshot:

You need to add another CNAME record that says:

Click on Finish & go back to BlogSpot settings & click on Save.

Click on Edit one more time & redirect non www to www.

10 Free Open Source CSS3 Checkout Forms

Shopping cart checkout forms are the most important part of the user’s journey. They signify the completion of a purchase and they’re usually optimized like crazy to increase conversions.

But if you have no idea where to get started then maybe these free forms can help. I’ve curated 10 of the coolest checkout forms from CodePen, all open source, and all are easy to clone for your own websites.

Donut Payment

This unique checkout form really takes design to a whole new level. This Donut Payment UI is part of the daily UI challenge and this interface by Nathaniel Watson deserves an academy award.

It uses CSS gradients for the backgrounds and the repeating pattern dividing the two sides. The CC input field also spaces out numbers into packs of 4 which makes this incredibly simple to use.

Typography, color, whitespace and form all come together in this incredibly unique checkout form. I can’t imagine it would be useful on too many sites but it serves as an example of how much you can do with design.

Simple Checkout

For a much more practical look at checkout fields this simple checkout offers everything you need. It’s pretty small but makes great use of the space with crisp fonts and input field highlighting.

All of the code is pure CSS and you can copy/paste this directly into your site for a quick solution. Granted this is a pretty small form so you may need to expand it, but the overall style is very clean and should blend nicely into any layout.

Shopping Prototype

Clean prototypes remove the aesthetics leaving just the user experience. That’s exactly what you get with this shopping prototype and it offers plenty of inspiration to build on top of.

Quantity fields use the “number” inputs and they auto-update the subtotals on each line. This effect is pretty simple to build with JavaScript and even easier to port into your own website.

Also try clicking on the “checkout” button and dig through all the other pages. This pen’s creator James Mejia added pages for guest signups, shipping, payment, and a couple other forms in the checkout process.

Credit Card Café

This fun and simple form uses a café theme with a thin paper-style receipt checkout form. Online shops may need more space, but this is perfect for any smaller restaurant or online coffee manufacturer.

The dynamic Visa credit card field is the coolest feature of this entire form. It’s fully dynamic with labels that automatically shrink when you start entering content. The dropdown fields for month/date are customized as well lending a sense of life into the checkout process.

Purchase Payment

Here’s another sweet daily UI project, this one created by developer Maycon Luiz.

It uses a card-based design with the products listed along the left side and the checkout details on the right.

The feature I like most is the automatic card update. When you punch numbers into the payment fields they automatically appear on the credit card graphic at the top. This gives the user some closure that they’ve entered numbers properly.

Vans Checkout

One other daily UI with a different approach is this Vans checkout coded by Tommaso Poletti. It’s got a few dynamic page effects that hide all shopping cart items behind the form.

If you click the shopping bag icon you’ll notice all these items fly out to the side. It’s a cool idea but would probably work best if they were visible constantly. I do really like the field design keeping the branded logo near the top to maintain authority.

Progress Checkout

Breadcrumbs and progress bars are super common in checkout forms. They let the user know how far along they are and how much longer it’ll take before they complete the purchase.

This checkout form places the progress bar front & center directly in the user’s eyeline. It uses clear label text to show exactly where they are and how much further they need to go. All other form fields use this same clear design style so the typography is stellar.

I definitely think this checkout field could fit into any website with ease.

CC Details

Developer Momcilo Popov crafted this pristine CC checkout field with a heavy dose of minimalism. The custom credit card field uses dot characters for security and separates your CC number into packs of 4 by default.

The dog photo could work reliably for a pet shopping app, but you could just as easily replace this with anything. The checkout field is incredibly robust and should be easy enough to tinker with if you’d like to replicate it elsewhere.

Embedded Checkout

While searching for checkout forms I stumbled onto this embedded form which really caught my eye. It’s a good example of how you can build custom checkout fields that look great without worrying about security or payment merchants.

This does rely on a 3rd party platform but it also embeds the form, handles the payment, and offers a custom invoice receipt to boot. This certainly offers some UI inspiration but it’s also a fantastic choice for developers who wanna shave some time in their project cycle.

Credit Card Animation

Last but not least is this amazing animated CC form using a fully visualized credit card. As you fill out the form each field updates on the card in real time.

Best of all it uses a custom flipping animation to rotate between front & back. So when you focus on the CCV field the card automatically rotates to show the back area. Really cool effect and definitely unique to this form.

The Bootstrap framework is quite popular with web designers. It provides everything you need to get a design project off to a running start. Plus, it’s been created with mobile devices in mind.

On the downside, it seems like many sites using Bootstrap tend to have a similar look and layout. But that is more of a product of taking design shortcuts rather than an indictment on the framework itself. Going beyond the default styles is quite possible and much easier than you may think.

With that in mind, we went on a search for free Bootstrap templates that lean toward the barebones end of the spectrum. They offer a virtual clean slate and give you the power to customize both the look and layout as much as you’d like. So, instead of ripping apart an existing design, you can get straight to making your own mark.

Bare

Bare is designed to help you get started without any fuss. There are no fancy styles applied and it comes with predefined paths. The template works with Bootstrap 4 and sports a fixed top navigation.

Simplex

Touted as both “Mini and Minimalist”, Simplex contains some basic styles that will provide you with a great starting point. You’ll find minimal navigation, buttons, typography, forms, containers and more goodies within this lightweight package.

Understrap

Understrap is a clever mix of Automattic’s Underscores barebones WordPress theme and Bootstrap. Thus, your next WordPress project can utilize Bootstrap without the excess bloat of a prebuilt theme. Understrap features Bootstrap 4, is compatible with the WordPress Customizer and supports WooCommerce.

Initializr

Initializr will generate a simple HTML template based on your requirements. Bootstrap 3.3.1 can be bundled right in with your template.

Bootply

Use Bootply to build your own custom Boostrap starter template. Using their online builder, you can make things as simple (or complex) as you’d like. There are options for different layouts, various sidebars (including off-canvas) and more.

WP Bootstrap Starter

WP Bootstrap Starter is aimed at developers who want to build upon basic features to make their own custom theme. Like Understrap above, it’s based on Underscores. That means it’s lightweight and ready for full-on customization.

LayoutIt!

LayoutIt! is a tool featuring a drag-and-drop interface for quickly building Bootstrap-based templates. There are three base templates to choose from (Starter, Basic Marketing Site and Article). Once you’ve selected a template, you’ll be able to add elements such as grids, components and even JavaScript. You can have a basic, yet functional template set up within minutes.

Sage

A competitor to Undesrcores, Sage is a WordPress starter theme that comes with Bootstrap baked right in. The theme features task automation via gulp, and the ability to easily add front-end packages via Bower. Template markup is based on HTML5 Boilerplate.

Bootstrap 4 Starter Template

If you’re looking for dead simple way to start off a new site, WebNots has put together their own Bootstrap 4 Starter Template. Not only can you grab a copy of their template, there is also a handy guide for building your own.

BS Starter

BS Starter provides the basics you’ll need to get up and running with your design project. The template features a full-width slider and is minimally styled. It gives you just enough to help you create your own look and layout.

Give Complex Templates the Boot

When embarking on a new project, you’re better off using a starter template that lets you make all of the important design decisions. That’s where these minimal and barebones options really shine. Instead of having a Bootstrap-based theme that simply looks like everyone else, you’ll have the flexibility to use the framework to create something unique.

Free CC0 stock photos have become a huge commodity on the web. They’re easier to find than ever before and it’s quite possible there are millions of these photos to choose from.

These free photos certainly make design work easier, but finding high-quality photos for hero images can be a real pain. That’s why I’ve curated the absolute best sites to help you find HQ photos for all your web design projects.

NegativeSpace

First in this collection is NegativeSpace, featuring a gorgeous high-resolution gallery of stock photos. But these photos don’t have that cheesy vibe you typically expect from stock photo sites.

They all look incredibly natural and they span a wide array of topics. You can find photos to use on a business website, a restaurant homepage, or even pictures to use as featured photos on your personal blog.

Categories are easy to browse through and the layout is incredibly simple. If you need genuine-looking stock photos then start with NegativeSpace.

Pexels

One thing I like about Pexels is the variety. They update their site frequently and it’s been around for years now, so their photo archive is extensive.

You can browse recent photos or look through popular searches to see what they have available. You can even browse photos by color which is quite advanced for a simple photo repository.

For a huge variety and some wild search options Pexels is yet another fantastic site to bookmark.

LibreStock

All the photos on LibreStock come from dozens of other sources. This site works like a search engine for CC0 stock photography where you can enter a search term and browse 40+ different sites all at once.

Since many stock photo sites are small, they also don’t have many photos. But the photos they do have are usually unique and not found elsewhere. So LibreStock saves you time searching all these sites at once and curating the results in one place.

This is my go-to resource to search all the smaller sites before visiting the larger ones.

Unsplash

Unsplash is perhaps the original HD stock photo website. It started in 2013 and grew rapidly due to the high-quality photos and the universal CC0 license.

Since none of these photos have copyright restrictions they’re prime pickings for designers from all fields. Most other CC0 stock photo sites came afterwards and few can compete with the massive library that Unsplash commands.

The only downside is that Unsplash doesn’t have a great search feature and many of the best photos aren’t tagged. So you might spend a while digging through just to find a gem, but it’s worth the effort.

StockSnap

With StockSnap you can actually make your own account and curate all your favorite photos together.

All StockSnap photos are CC0 and they’re certainly large enough for hero images. And since you can bookmark your favorites you have easy access to find the original photographer, the tags, and even related photos based on size/color and content.

Everypixel

I just recently found Everypixel and it’s one heck of a search engine. This site does not host stock photos locally, but instead searches through dozens of sources on the web.

By default it mixes free and premium photos but you can filter by license to get just the CC0 images. The best part about Everypixel is the level of control you have while searching. You can simultaneously filter for a keyword, a color, and an orientation (horizontal/vertical) depending on what you need.

This interface can be intimidating at first but it’s one of the best on the web. If you learn how to search with Everypixel you’ll find a whole lot of amazing photos out there.

Startup Stock

Tech blogs and startups thrive on great photography. That’s why Startup Stock Photos has to be in this list.

It’s a fairly new website but the quality is exquisite. I haven’t seen these photos anywhere else so they must be uniquely featured here with the goal of helping writers & startup founders add quality images to their site.

Pixabay

Pixabay goes one step beyond photos by including vectors and illustration work on the website. They even recently added a video section for high-quality HD stock videos.

One nice feature here is the authorship box in the sidebar. You can browse photos based on the photographer which makes it easy to find related pics. If you find one photo that you really like then check the photographer’s profile—they might have a bunch more you can download!

FoodiesFeed

Food photography is a huge subject for bloggers. In fact most food bloggers agree that the photography makes or breaks great content.

With FoodiesFeed you have access to thousands of quality food photos across various subjects. Breakfasts, desserts, shakes and steaks all have a home on this site. And they’re all under CC0 license so you can download, edit, and reuse them on any projects. Awesome!

Picjumbo

The selection is a bit limited on Picjumbo but I’ve found some really cool and unique photos on this site. It’s all free and the site originally launched in 2013 back when Unsplash was just hitting the web.

Their selection is mixed between their free public photos and their optional premium photos. But you can find so many awesome free photos in their collection that there’s really little reason to pay for the premium.

Definitely a nice site to keep saved as just one more resource to check out.

These are my favorite hero image resources but there are many others on the web. CC0 images are so commonplace that it’s tough to even keep up with all the photos!

But if you keep some of these sites bookmarked you’ll have access to the vast majority of new images right at your fingertips.

How to Prepare Your Site For Localization

The reason why we localize a website is the same reason we build websites in the first place, to reach, engage, persuade, or inform an audience. We often obsess over the details in communicating with our audience and creating an impactful conversation. We think about who our audience is and when trying to reach out to a new audience-we end up not connecting with them.
Sean Gottlieb is the CTO for Global Offerings at Lionbridge Technologies and builds architectural solutions via consulting services and technology to help large and small brands translate their website into a variety of languages. Lionbridge translates a variety of content including simple Word documents, voiceover for video, and websites. Sean recently spoke at the WP Engine Agency Summit and offered some takeaways on preparing your website for translations and localization.

The Initial Pieces

The buyer who is new to localization often has these three components that they feel are sure-fire components for rapid localization. They have an internationalized CMS: a CMS capable of publishing in multiple languages. They also have finalized content created strategically with the brand voice in mind. Finally, they have a translation agency. These are three ingredients of a seemingly error-free translation process.

The Project Plan

The project plan most likely starts and ends like this. You start with a design phase, complete the development, create the content, translate that content, and launch your website (with any additional tweaking). This is seemingly straightforward.

What Actually Happened

The actual project probably looked something like this. Design goes as planned often times, but development can be complicated. Content can often get stalled in the process of creating and implementing. Once content is finalized, translation is often the step you expect to go smoothly. It's at this point that you realize how ill prepared you are for localization.

What Goes Wrong During Translation

Although you thought you had an internationalized CMS capable of multilingual publishing and you have the infrastructure in place, translation can often go wrong during the implementation. There are many best practices you need to follow or will often be faced with an immense amount of work.

Do You Want To Translate All Your Content?

Word for word translation of content might not be wise. Not all content is relevant to all languages. Some content might only be suitable for a certain locale. For example, you might have a product you're not authorized to sell in a certain country. You also might have low-quality, outdated content that is unnecessary.
The first challenge is segmenting content so that you can only send what you want to be translated to your translator. The second challenge is to ensure that your website still looks comprehensive despite the fact that not all the content is there. One thing that needs to be considered is that it's pretty expensive to translate text when it's in an image because the translator has to essentially recreate that image from scratch.
Lastly, a lot of localizable text is in a page that isn't editorial at all. A lot of text, like buttons that say 'search,' are baked into your templates and are not managed as content. The best practice is to abstract these into localization files so that the template just calls the files that you can send over to the localization agency. This is often where the majority of time is spent during the translation process.

The Agency

Despite having great translators, translation agencies don't want to work in your CMS. You need to get your content to them in a format that will work for the agency rather than them getting it from you. A translator works in a highly optimized tool called a CAT tool that breaks up all the content into sentences and operates with translation memories.
Another thing to consider is that all locales work according to different holidays. Consider the culture associated with the language you are translating into.

Lessons Learned

Work with a CMS that is designed for localization. WordPress definitely is and there are a number of plugins to assist you. Work with an integrator that knows localization best practices and catches them early. Don't wait until the last minute to involve your translation agency. Use a connector; WPML is go-to for WordPress.

A connector allows you to select content from the website and filter it in a different way. Choose which language you want to translate, build up a collection of content to translate and automatically send it to the translator without having to create files. Once the translators are done, it'll be displayed and you can view it in your page. A connector cuts down the propensity for human error.

When following proper guidelines, your project plan will most likely look a little more like this. There are three main touch points you'll have with your translation agency. The first touch point is when you're done with your mockups. Your translation agency will be able to give you valuable insight on your design like what font won't work with certain languages or what it might look like to translate to a right-to-left orientation.
The second touchpoint is Global Brand Voice. In this phase, the translation agency will consult your style and language guides and adapt that to foreign cultures. Lastly, once you start generating content, you can start sending samples through for helpful feedback. During this phase, you'll be able to tell if certain images can't be translated.

Once You've Published

You always need to consider the customer lifecycle, even in the global market. Is your product localized? Can it be used it in the market? Do you have distribution channels? Lastly once the customer has your product, how do you stay in touch and support them?
Keep your site up-to-date regularly after publication. If you are rapidly updating your home website, you need to set up a plan for updating your localized websites.
Lastly, once you've gotten into a market, you need to switch gears. Rethink whether the market is a secondary market and start considering it as another primary market. Have a marketing team building original content tuned to the geography, events, and culture. It's not just direct translation but it's also transcreation: creating new things with a new locale in mind. You have to consider your strategy once you're successful in a new market.
