Whatever we choose to do in life – it is because of 2 driving forces:

• The need to avoid pain

and/or

• The desire to gain pleasure

Let’s say you bring  2  people into your home based business.

One dude we’ll call “Dick” joined, because he wants more out of life by earning more money.  He’d like to spend more money on his girlfriend, and wants to get a new BMW X6. He’s purely driven by gaining more pleasure.

He’s pretty comfortable where he is right now, but eager for more.  In his mind his “drive” to succeed is getting all the material stuff he’s ever dreamed of.  Dick knows that he’s gotta make phone calls in this industry.  Without constantly prospecting he knows his MLM business won’t survive.  Time for Dick to get down to business.

He was about to make a phone call, but decides on putting it off for another day, week, or month. Why?

Dick is treating his MLM business is like a “hobby”, or a “side gig”.  His driving force (gain pleasure) is weak as hell (getting a nicer car!?)  His “hot button” is not very hot after all, right?

Let’s look at the other guy who joined named “James”.   James is in a completely different situation.  He’s got real problems that he’s looking to solve by starting his own home based business.

His problems are:

• He is in debt 100k
• Two college bound kids with NO college fund
• His wife is sick and the hospital bills are coming in

Now, if you ask me I think James problems should make him HUNGRY.  Unlike Dick,  it is a MUST for James to make shit happen in this industry.  He’s not #$%#-ing around!  James  gotta avoid pain, he has  no time to evaluate the risks.  He has to act fast and has nothing to loose.  He is willing to give it 100%…. Whatever it takes!

“You may have more talent than me, you may be smarter than me, you may look better than me……but once we get on the treadmill, there are two things: No. 1  You’re getting off first or  No.2  I’M GONNA DIE.  It’s really that simple. “  - Will Smith

James links so much pain to his current financial situation, he has to do whatever he can.  Even if it means going into uncomfortable, unfamiliar, territory.   He has no choice but to go forward.

Who do you think will do more for their business?

Probably James, right?

Why?

The need to avoid pain is a stronger drive than the desire to gain pleasure.

I find this technique useful:  I link pleasure to following through with my daily tasks.  On the flip side, I link pain to NOT following through with my daily tasks.

When it comes down to certain daily activities you perform as a network marketer ask yourself:

What is it going to cost me if I don’t do this right now? – Link a ton of pain to it.

What pleasure am I going to get out of this? – Link ultimate pleasure to it.

Why are you involved in this industry?  What drives you?  Why are you willing to bust your #$@ for long hours in front of your computer screen every single day?  What’s your pleasure?  What’s the pain you’re trying to avoid by moving forward?

Why do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer?

I started reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki a couple of days ago.  I wanted to know what all the fuss is about.  After all, Rich Dad Poor Dad is the #1 selling  personal finance book of all time!

I honestly gotta give it to Robert.

One of the main ideas in the book is about making a clear distinction between “assets” and “liabilities”.

My simple take on it is this:

Whatever can generate an income on autopilot is considered an asset. 

• Stocks, bonds…etc
• A business where leverage is implemented
• Real Estate ( if rented out)
• Precious Metals ( gold, silver…etc)
• Network marketing as a business (leverage)

….and so on.

Whatever is taking money out of your pocket without any return is a liability. (It’s anything that doesn’t belong to the list above.)

• Any toys.  A brand new car ( You roll out of the lot and all of a sudden you loose 25% of it’s value) Ouch!
• Anything on a daily basis that you spend money on.

What you have to understand is the rich cover their expenses from the profit that their assets generate.  The left over profit is turned back into the asset column for generating more profit. That my friends is an upward spiral.

The poor on the other hand live paycheck to paycheck.   Known for their narrow mindset;  they desperately want to appear rich. So they use credit cards to buy themselves a fancy car, with money they don’t have, in order to impress people they don’t  like. This is what we call a downward spiral.

The poor work for money, while the rich have money work for them.

I know it may sound way too simple, but if you read Robert’s book you will see the basic theory of why the rich get richer boils down to this.

I wouldn’t  say I’m rich, but I’m certainly headed in the right direction……

Let me tell you why…….

I stared investing in silver bullion (asset)  about 2 years ago.  About 6 months ago I decided to tap into the beauty of network marketing (asset).  Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, and Warren Buffet  all say network marketing is the “business model of the 21st century.”

I was searching for a company to join when it donned on me:  ”Is there a network marketing company that deals with silver and gold?” Oh yeah baby!  Sure enough I found an MLM company that does just that.

Think about it!  How cool is that?

A home based business that cultivates real assets and real wealth.  What I discovered is not a weight loss juice, or a beauty product that has an expiration date LOL!  I found something that has lasting value.

Think about it for a second:  What would you want to have a garage full of?  Weight loss products or silver?  It may seem like a dumb question, but many people don’t see the opportunity that is staring them in the face.

The bottom line:  In order to be financially independent you must make your money work for you.  You gotta invest in assets and let your money do the work, because that’s what money does best.

That’s the reason I’ m into network marketing, and I joined a company that deals with silver and gold.

If you think the government or your “secure job” is going to take care of you, I urge you to think again.  There are no guarantees in this world, but you can up your odds by taking full responsibility for your actions and decisions.

Now you know why the rich get richer and why I urge you to take care of yourself and your family.

And finally remember there is nothing good or noble about being poor. It’s like thinking that going to war is noble in any way.

MLM Recruiting – Mastering Questions: 

When you call your lead you’ve gotta ask the questions that pretty much put you in control.

When you’re out prospecting, instead of pitching a “script” that took you days to memorize …. Ask simple questions like:

Would you be open to a side project that would not interfere what you’re currently doing?

If so, WHY?

They might say:   “I need to come up with x amount of money, I gotta put the kids through college, or I want a new car”…and so on.

Ta-da!!  NOW you know their hot button, the powerful driving force behind their action to join. This is the ammo that is going to help you close them.  This is the button that needs to be hammered, but don’t worry they will do the hammering.  People can be really passionate about their struggles and can rave about them for hours. ( I used to be one of those people. )

Remember they don’t want a business, they want to solve their problems.  You can eliminate their problems by offering them an  opportunity (a  home based business.)  You make them believe you have the solutions to their biggest headaches.

What has recently changed in your life that has you looking into a home based business? -Another powerful MLM recruiting question.

By the way, if you get a phone number from a lead, you MUST call back for 2 reasons:  (1)  They want to be called  (2) You can’t afford NOT to call them.  Plain and simple.

Remember, as a network marketer you’re not a salesman.  You are a problem solver who’s trying to take care of a prospect.  Adopt that mindset and you will be ahead of 90% of all the network marketers out there.

Handling Objections

“How much money did you earn in your first month?”  - When a prospect asks this it means he’s getting a vibe from you that you’re not very confident; he’s trying to eat you alive.

Your comeback to that question should be something along these lines:

“I don’t know, I haven’t finished collecting it all yet. You see, you get paid residual income in this business.  I’m still earning money from my efforts from my very first month.” 

As you know this is the truth in network marketing.  It’s leverage. You get paid over and over again from your one time effort.

I hope these questions will give you some insights, and shift  the way you’re prospecting in a positive direction!

What I see network marketing newbies do quite often is, try to sell a business opportunity to people who don’t give a shit.

It WILL not work for a very simple reason:  They have a very different mindset; I could say “narrow” but I won’t. Oops!

When you ( a network marketer)  hear “work from home“, you get juiced and see an opportunity to become an entrepreneur.

What they are thinking in their head is:  This is a scheme.  This dude wants my money. I will NOT be ripped off like those other guys in the news……and so on.

In a nutshell:  You can’t sell a business opportunity to someone who is not looking for one. GET THAT!

Here is where my first tip comes in:

Say Less to More People.

When you’re out there prospecting, your job is not to sell, but to share. You’re not out there to hammer your business opportunity in your prospect’s face 6 zillion times. You are simply there to invite them to watch a presentation or attend a webinar and so on.  That’s it!

Keep in mind; that you have to come from a place inside you that radiates:  You don’t give a rat’s ass whether they sign up, join your business, or even watch the webinar. Who cares what they decide to do?  It’s not your job to worry about it.  The ball is in their court, let them do the worrying!  You gave them the opportunity- and with that you gave them EVERYTHING.  Period.

Don’t be the Tool!

Let your tools (  website, video, or an audio cd) do the selling for you!  That’s why they were designed.

Just picture this for a second:

Have you ever wanted to go out with somebody who you thought was very good looking?

If you walked up to that person and said:  ”I think you should go out with me.  I’m awesome, and we are gonna have so much fun!  You are really gonna like me, and I am a great kisser, and so on.”

What are the chances of that person saying:  ”Sure, I think you are awesome too!  Let’s kiss!!”

I would say slim to none.

The fact that the person has to sell him or herself on the idea of going out with them. You cannot hammer something into someone’s  mind, that they don’t want.

The same is true for a home based business.  Nothing  is more repelling in this industry than when a network marketer who acts needy.  It’s actually the opposite of magnetic sponsoring; the very thing I’m teaching you here.

Marketing your opportunity is not about selling, it is about sharing.

Do not get attached to the outcome. You gotta master that mindset when you go out  prospecting.

“He who cares less holds the power.”

Go for the “NO!”

Instead of going out and trying to close a deal with everyone , try something else.  Try to get as many “no’s” as you can, instead of trying to get people to say “yes.”  It helps to shift your mindset.  All of a sudden there is no pressure on you because you purposely choose to be willing to fail.  Go out there and start getting the “NO’s!”  That’s your goal!

Eventually with the “no’s” the “yesses” will start pouring in.

A business card is no different.

I wanted new unique business cards and I had a couple of requirements.  (1)  I wanted them to be made of recycled paper.  (2) I wanted high quality cards.  Having the highest quality was of the utmost importance for me.

I was searching for companies on Google when an ad just below the search bar caught my eye.  I clicked it, landed on the site, and sure enough I was hooked when I saw you could design your own quality cards on recycled paper!

These cards are not cheap by any means, but quality comes first for me.  I would not feel comfortable giving out a card that feels like toilet paper.

I wanted a very simple but unique business card with a QR code.
If you don’t know what a QR code is:

A ” QR code” is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode, (or two-dimensional code) first designed for the automotive industry which you simply scan with your smart phone. (Download a free app called QRReader; works on Iphones not sure about Droid.)

My Unique Business Cards

After scanning the code the visitor can be re-directed to a website, a blog, an email, or watch a video.  The QR code you see on my card is taking the visitor to a capture page.

On this page my direct sponsor at my network marketing company explains ( in a short video) why he and I joined this particular company.  If the visitor likes the video and wants more information, he or she has gotta opt in for more info about this business opportunity.

That’s all there is to it!

I encourage you to implement QR codes on your offline marketing material.

What is Network Marketing?

The principle is simple. Today big corporations are spending billions of dollars on advertising,  TV, magazines, billboards, and so on.  A  network marketing company distributes the money they would spend on advertisements; among the representatives of the company.

The differences between a pyramid scheme and a network marketing company are:

Pyramid:  Illegal, no bonafied product, essentially sell participation

Network marketing company: Legal, usually has an extensive product line

There are a couple of reasons to join a network marketing company; here are my top 4:

1.  You Can Start Part Time

You don’t risk anything!  Just start by finding 15 hours a week that you can devote to your business.  When you start making profits you will see  how much time you need to make the transition from a ‘part time,’ to a ‘full time’ network marketer.

2. Little Overhead

You can have your own  home based business  starting at $500.  That’s ridiculous!   Try opening your own restaurant, or limousine company from that amount of capital, and let me know how it goes.

This low start up cost is one of the main reasons people give up easily after they join.  If it is easy to get in, it is also easy to get out.

3. Residual Income 

You do some work once and you get paid for it years and decades later.  It’s about leverage. You are earning one, small, commission from each of your team member’s effort.  That is where the power of building and organization comes in.

 4.  The Economic Downfall

Many people are hurting from this economy, and if you’re reading this you may very well be one of them.

There is no guarantee that you will be able to keep your job in the coming years.  Big corporations are not only firing people, but laying off thousands of workers at a time. Why wait until that occurs? Why wait until you are desperate? Why not just start something on the side? Like your own home based business?????

By the way, one of the main reasons for this economic crisis in the US:  Most of the work is being outsourced overseas.

Honestly, why on Earth would I hire a programmer in the US for $50+ an hour?  I can hire a top guy from India, Eastern Europe, or the Phillipines for $5-$10 an hour.  Many people are sitting at home with useless (not needed) college degrees, waiting for the downfall to turn around. Well, get comfy because you will be waiting for a very long time.

Unemployment rates are skyrocketing, and crime rates are on the rise.  What do all these fact tell ya?

People are desperate.  They are  having to find ways to make money from a  source other than their jobs (if they still got one!)

More and more people are going to be “forced” into making money as  network marketers.  Like it or not.

Robert Kyosaki says that network marketing is the business model of the 21st century. Donald Trump and Warren Buffet both recommend network marketing.

After watching the instructional videos about setting up the account, I came across a problem.  The problem was I couldn’t set up my account

I watched the “set up account” segment of the tutorial video a few more times, and still couldn’t find out what the hell the issue was.

Anyway, I searched for a “cure” and I couldn’t find anything.  No blog posts, no articles, no videos….nada.

Finally, after 1 hour I realized that one of the instructional videos had some misleading information.

If you also can’t set up your account in the back office of Article Marketing Robot (AMR) read on:

At step 1-B POP3 set up your password: You need to enter the one that you previously set up at your host Cpanel (see pic below)

Next up:  1-A Author Account info . 

On this page the password is the one you set up at Article Marketing Robot to log in at directories you have previously signed up with.

You can get the best deals at VistaPrint. Customize it by making your own design using Photoshop,  Snag-it or what have you. I would not go with the samples that they offer. Making your own text without any graphics works for me. Make sure you point out the benefit on the ad.

Stamped post-it notes

Buy post it notes and use stamps from RubberStampChamp.com. You’re looking for this type of stamp: 2000Plus Printer60 which fills up a post-it note nicely. The stamp surface is 1 1/2 ” x  3″ and I believe it gives you 7 lines of text. It’s dirt cheap for $15 a pop.

I got mine at eVoice where you get 2 free extension, 300 free monthly minutes and FREE 6 month trial.  After you hit that limit there is a fee of $12.95/month. This is the basic package that will get you going. There are upgrades of course with 2 additional plans. You can shop around but you will not find too many better deals than this.

That’s that. Now you go out there and make things happen and have the leads call you.

Building a network marketing business that works takes time and constant effort, and the desire to improve.

Hoper or Hustler

Passive marketing is doing something in the hopes that somebody will respond to a written article, or video …etc. That’s what “hopers” do. There is nothing wrong with this strategy, but it is crucial not to stop there.

You also need to adopt a “hustler” mentality which is pretty much this : You need to talk to a certain amount of human beings about your business each and every day.  That’s where the money is. (Honestly where did you think the money was in the first place? )

The celebrity network marketers you’ve heard of like Mike Dillard, David Wood, and so on; they’re all “hustlers”. They all have the “never give up” attitude. (Remember, people who give up, never win.)

If you want to make money now, you gotta stop hoping and start some serious hustling!

Here is offline technique #1 for ya!

Visit an event in your area like a car show, boat show, real estate convention..etc.

Once you have found a good networking event give out as many of your business cards as you can, without revealing what you do. Engage them by asking questions like:  ”How did you get into your business?”, or “How is your business doing this year?”…and so on.

Follow up with them the next day and ask them:

“I’m just throwing this out there…. Would you be interested in a side project that does not interfere with what you are currently doing?”

Some of them are going to say: “Sure, what is it?”

#2 offline technique is the “card grab” method

Find places in your area that have cork boards where people advertise and place their business cards and flyers.

I suggest taking a picture of the board with your smartphone.  If you don’t have a phone just take a few of the cards and flyers.  Go home and hook up the phone to your computer blow up the picture so you clearly read the cards and start calling them.  You can say something along the lines of:

“Not sure where I found your card, but would you be open to a side project that does not interfere with what you are currently doing?” ( Same line as above.)

Remember, you’re calling people who are looking to make more money!

Spending their time trying to figure out PPC, landing pages, getting leads, autoresponders, widgets, plugins, social sites, and the whole nine. It’s overwhelming!  I know because I have gone through all that crap.

First of all, you need to learn how to recruit and sponsor. Recruiting and sponsoring are the ONLY direct income producing activities.

I know that you know, I’m dead right on on this.  Chances are you’re a struggling network marketer who may know how to “rip it” on Pinterest ( I don’t).  Unfortunately, you’re not so good at closing. If that’s you, read on.

Getting better at sponsoring.

Mastering Questions:

One powerful question-

Would you be open to exploring a side project that doesn’t interfere what you’re currently doing?

It would be really hard to say “no” to that; it would be just kind of silly.

So, if they say “yes”, you gotta ask:  ”Why?”  Let them tell you, let them explain it to you!

If they say “to make extra money”, that is not a powerful answer.

The answer you’re looking for is something deeper like:  ”I need to pay my mortgage, get a newer car, I just got laid off”, and so on. You must get to the root of the problem, the real challenge they’re facing right now.  Your prospects’ problems are their “hot buttons” that you need to be pushing.

Handling Objection:

When you’re asked:  ” How much money did you make your first month?”

You say:  ”I don’t know.  I haven’t finished collecting it all yet. You see, you get paid residual income in this business and I’m still getting paid from the effort from my first month.”

This answer will put you back in power, instead of getting cornered by the prospect.  It also makes them think of their jobs or businesses.

Test Closing:

The question that you need to pop is this (once you figure out their hot button):

In your opinion do you think this would help _________________? (Pay the mortgage, get a newer car and so on. )  What would it be worth to you?

They answer.

Also ask them:  Are you saying that or do you really mean that?

If you were to join how much would it be worth to you? 

A rookie network marketer will tell the prospect why he joined.  He hopes that the lead will buy in for the very same reason. Unfortunately, it is not how it works.

This method is more powerful than talking about the company’s founder and benefits of your product, right?

If prospects don’t return your call, it’s because they saw you as a sales person, and not a PROBLEM SOLVER.  Earlier, I pointed out that marketing is all about solving people’s problems.  Period.  This is very important so make sure you get it!
