WhatsApp Tests Facebook-Style Coloured Text Status Feature

Late last year, Facebook started rolling out coloured statuses on its Android app that allowed users to write their status update with a colourful background, font, and emoji combination. Now, the same feature has been spotted on WhatsApp as well, and while currently it's in beta, it can be expected to arrive for all users soon.

Android Police was first tipped about this feature, and it is showing up in Android beta version 2.17.291. The report states that even though you might be on this latest version on the WhatsApp Android beta app, it is possible that you may not see this feature. It is presumably a server side switch from WhatsApp's end, so only select users are seeing it now even in beta. We can't see it either. In any case, few users are now seeing a floating pen icon in the Status tab at the bottom of the screen, right above the camera icon. Clicking on the pen icon brings up the option to type a status, choose a font, emoji, and the background colour as well.

When you're done writing the status and making the necessary changes, you can then hit the green arrow key to send the text status, just like how you send media content now. The status will then be published on WhatsApp for all your contacts to see.

Troy Hunt, the mastermind behind HIBP, has revealed over 320 million passwords in his blog to help the companies secure their online network. These passwords have been aggregated from several data breaches that happened overtime, and are now available to everyone on HIBP website. However, Hunt says that the ‘pwned-passwords’ that are publicly available on his website do not disclose the email addresses and usernames that they were associated with. The website Have I Been Pwned, or HIBP, generally lets users see if their email addresses have been breached without revealing the passwords, but Hunt has created the inverse of the concept this time, in an effort to intimate Internet users and companies about passwords that can be easily hacked.

The sole motive behind HIBP’s new password service is to supply different companies about the compromised passwords, so that when any user tries to enter anything that matches they will be warned by the company to use a more secure password instead. Alternatively, since the HIBP website is open for all, any user can voluntarily go to the website and check if the password they’ve been thinking to use has not been already breached. Nevertheless, Hunt advises such users to be cautious before checking any passwords that they currently use. “The point of the web-based service is so that people who have been guilty of using sloppy passwords have a means of independent verification that it's not one they should no longer be using,” he notes in his blog.

While this service can be more securely accessed over an Internet connection, Hunt has also made the entire collection of passwords that is almost 5.3GB in size available for offline download through a ZIP file.

Since its inception, the concept of this service has been asserted positively by institutions like National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the UK's National Cyber Security Centre, which agree with Hunt’s ideology that compromised passwords should not be brought into use again by any user.

Yet another Suicide due to the Blue Whale Suicide game!! The game has found its first victim in India.

Shocking and gory details have emerged out of the investigations in the suicide of a 14-year-old boy in Mumbai. The suicide could possibly be India's first case of death linked to the social media challenge called Blue Whale.

What is the Blue Whale Challenge?

The Blue Whale game or Blue Whale Challenge is believed to be a suicide game wherein a group of administrators or a certain curator gives a participant a task to complete daily — for a period of 50 days — the final of which is the participant committing suicide. Participants are expected to share photos of the challenges/tasks completed by them.
These daily tasks start off easy — such as listening to certain genres of music, waking up at odd hours, watching a horror movie, among others, and then slowly escalate to carving out shapes on one’s skin, self-mutilation and eventually suicide.
There is still uncertainty over how a participant plays the game. While some say the user has to install some app on their smart phone, others say it’s via social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook where the administrators get in touch with the participant after those interested throw out postings on social media asking for a “curator”. A number of different hashtags— #bluewhalechallenge, #curatorfindme, #i_am_whale — act as signals for the anonymous curators.
It must be noted, however, that there still is no confirmation of the existence of the game, and suicides linked to it are from personal accounts of families/friends of those deceased who claim they have seen their loved ones performing tasks. While reports of suicides linked to the game have surfaced across the globe, authorities claim that the origin appears to be in Russia, which has reportedly seen about 130 related deaths and at least two arrests.

And few days back the game found its first victim in India.
Manpreet Sahans, the boy who committed suicide, lived in Sher E Punjab in Andheri East. The boy jumped from his seven-floor building's terrace on Saturday. Sahans, a Class nine student of an international school in Andheri, stayed with his parents and two elder sisters.
He dreamed of becoming a pilot and had expressed a desire to go to Russia for training. Russia is the country from where the Blue Whale Challenge is believed to have originated.
Mumbai Police has given advisory to all parents in the city to be more vigilant with their children. Mumbai Police said, "Parents are in a state of shock. Two people watched boy jumping from terrace. We advise people to look after their children and keep tab on their behaviour."

CHILLING DETAILS OF THE SUICIDE

According to investigations, Sahans had been using the internet to search for ways to jump from the terrace. This search was done by Sahans two days before he committed suicide. An insider informed that Sahans, while leaving school on Friday, had told his friends that he wouldn't be coming to school on Monday.
Sahans' behaviour had changed completely from a week before. His parents had doubts about his intentions but they did not expect him to commit suicide. They are now in a state of shock.
On the day of the suicide, Sahans went up to the terrace and sat on the parapet for over 20 minutes. While sitting on the parapet he was continuously speaking to his friends on social media where he informed that he is going to commit suicide, but no one took him seriously and thought that it might be a joke.
A police officer, who is part of the investigation said, "A person from another building saw Manpreet sitting on the parapet and kept asking him to get down. Manpreet even took a selfie with the person from where he was sitting and posted it on the group. He told his friends that one person was stopping him from committing suicide and that he would jump once he goes down."
The man on the other building left from his terrace to save Sahans. Sahans jumped down from the terrace when he saw the person coming his way.
Sahans had already jumped by the time the man reached. The man took Sahans to a local hospital but was declared dead there.

The photo was taken by the boy sitting on the terrace parapet. In the photo, the boy's legs can be seen, and the photo was captioned, "Soon the only thing you would be left with is a picture of me."

But the overwhelming consensus of the culinary world would indicate that it’s not a dessert! The closest thing we can find to a dessert version of octopus is a Trolli octopus gummy, but Google’s Easter egg seems to lack the multi-colored hues that the candy treat is known for.

It’s possible the folks at Mountain View are simply confused. Or maybe Android is switching away from dessert nicknames entirely. How to Send Pictures in WhatsApp without Compression

Before, the procedure to send pictures without losing quality wasn’t possible via the WhatsApp program. But in the newest upgrade, WhatsApp introduced a brand new feature and now it’s possible to send any document type. Therefore by using this, you can send Original High-Quality Images without Compression.

WhatsApp has been working on allowing customers send any kind of files together with the service since a relatively good time. It has expanded the capability to comprise from .Pdf files to .doc, .ppt, .Xls along with .Zip in addition to the means to share images and videos. But, not all formats are all supported.

What is the Problem?

I sent an image of 4048×3036 of 3.4 MB, which was taken using my Google Pixel XL. But, after the compression, the image became 1280×960 which was 108 KB in size. Well, without wasting your time let’s know how to send pictures without losing quality in WhatsApp.

1. Attach as a Document

Sending Images and videos is common on WhatsApp. But in addition, you can send different document files, such as PDF and Microsoft Document files. But, after releasing the version 2.17.254, now you’re able to share pictures on WhatsApp without getting them compressed. You may also send any file, whether it’s an APK file or ZIP file. Let’s check how it works.

1. Tap on a contact which you want to send a uncompressed image.

2. After that, tap on the Attachment Icon → Documents → Browse other docs…

3. It’ll allow you to browse pictures on your smartphone’ folder. Once inside, select the Camera folder and pick one of your images.

4. The image attached will be of the original file size. That’s it.

If you send pictures in this way, then WhatsApp will think that you are sending the image as a document file and won’t compress it. But the receiver will not see the preview of that image like a regular picture.

2. Make a Zip and Send

It is a frustrating process to download multiple images one by one. That’s why people send multiple files by adding them to a ZIP archive. In this way, you can also send those file formats which are currently not supported by WhatsApp.

To compress multiple files, you need a file manager like ES File Explorer or Solid File Explorer. Open the file explorer and compress your desired images into a ZIP file. Now your archive is ready to be sent.

On the WhatsApp, tap on tap on Document Icon and select the ZIP file you created before. That’s it.

Although Reliance jio launched in India in September, the company's offering has been restricted to smartphone users as it is a 4G only network, and to make calls, a phone has to support the VoLTE technology, which is usually not found on basic phones. The company aims to change with the JioPhone, which comes with 4G VoLTE support. The JioPhone will include access to apps like JioCinema, JioTV, and JioMusic.

The phone will be available from August 15 - for testing, in beta, and for pre-booking from August 24. Users who pre-book will be able to buy the phone from September 1, on a first come first serve basis. It will come with a couple of different data packs. Users can either pay Rs. 153 per month, for which they will get free voice and SMS, and unlimited data, along with Jio apps, or they can pay Rs. 309 per month, to get all this, plus the support for mirroring your screen on a TV, via a cable that can even be plugged into CRT TVs. After three years, you can return the phone, and get a full refund on the deposit.

The phone was introduced by Akash and Isha Ambani, revealing the phone’s for support voice commands, along with standard feature phone functionality. Isha Ambani said that the phone looks familiar by design, to ensure that it is easy to use.

"There are 78 crore mobile phones in India," Mukesh Ambani pointed out. "However, in this 78 crore, there are more than 50 crore feature phone users, who have been left out. They can neither afford the cheapest LTE smartphone, nor the exorbitant cost of data."

"Data is the oxygen of digital life, and no Indian should suffer because of unaffordability," he added. "Sadly the vast majority of mobile users are starved of data. This unfairness must end, and Jio is committing to ending it today."

To accomplish this, the company needs to deliver on three pillars, Ambani said - connectivity, data affordability, and device affordability. "Jio is a data strong network built for the Internet from the ground up," he said. "The TRAI speedtest portal has consistently ranked Jio as the clear 4G network leader in coverage, usage, and data speeds."

"Our network continues to rapidly expand. Jio, in the next 12 months, will cover 99 percent of the population. India's 4G coverage will be more than its 2G coverage," he added. To meet the need for device affordability, the company realised it would have to release a 4G VoLTE feature phone, as even an entry level smartphone costs between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 4,500, Ambani said.

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, has been making rapid strides into making the videos a key feature in the app. However, any regular WhatsApp user will know that the app does not allow its members to play YouTube videos directly in the app. But now, according to some reports, the messaging platform will soon let you play content from YouTube within the application itself. Currently, users are required to click on a link shared on the app, and the video then plays either via a browser or in the YouTube mobile application. But now, in the 2.17.40 version of the app for Apple iPhone, that is out in the App Store currently, WhatsApp will now reportedly test the in-app YouTube playback support as a hidden feature. According to popular web portal WABetaInfo, the support for YouTube video playback is not available to the public right now, since the feature is undergoing a testing phase.
According to the report in WABetaInfo, this new feature in WhatsApp will allow users to view videos from YouTube as a picture-in-picture mode. Additionally, you can also resize the video by pinching or you can also play videos in full-screen mode. Also, you can browse through your messages inside the WhatsApp chat as well, by hiding the video on the side. However, the report says that you cannot continue viewing the video on YouTube if you change the chat. The report also says that the feature is currently only available for Apple iPhone 6 or its higher variants. This maybe because of a need for larger display size for videos, the report said. As of now, the WhatsApp feature is available for iOS devices only and there is no information on when it will be available to the public on both iOS and Android smartphones.

The feature has been in high demand from users as it was an annoying thing to use when watching YouTube videos meant going to a different portal. Unless the Facebook owned company finds a problem with this feature or too many bugs are not found, we can expect the launch of the feature soon. Aadhaar numbers, which are also linked with millions of Jio numbers as Jio used them to authenticate users from October-November last year, don't seem to have leaked, not publicly at least.The news of the Jio data leak surfaced around 6pm on Sunday as some users started talking about it on Twitter. The drill was simple. Go to Magicapk, put in the Jio number for which you needed the details and search. The website then fetched the data.

Although most people discovered on Sunday evening, apparently at the same time when even Jio came to know about the fact that its user data was available publicly, the Magicapk.com was in the business for the last few days.

As more people became aware of the Jio data leak, the Magical.com servers were hit with massive traffic. Then in some cases they worked, in some they didn't. Jio apparently sprung into action around 9pm. By midnight the website magicapk.com was down, although it is not sure if it was taken by its service provider or it went offline because it exhausted the bandwidth allotted to it. Right now if you open magicapk.com it shows an error saying that the account of the website owner has been suspended.

For now Jio has denied the data leak. "We have come across the unverified and unsubstantiated claims of the website and are investigating it. Prima facie, the data appears to be unauthentic. We want to assure our subscribers that their data is safe and maintained with highest security. Data is only shared with authorities as per their requirement. We have informed law enforcement agencies about the claims of the website and will follow through to ensure strict action is taken.

This is possibly the reason why in some of the web forums frequented by hackers and scammers, the Jio data is already seemingly on sale. Although name Jio doesn't find any mention in his post, there is a user called M00n$hine who has put up on sale a database containing details of 120 million users of a big Indian telecom firm. According M00n$hine the database not only contains user details but also their CDR details that have outgoing and incoming call-related information. The user is selling details of 20 lakh consumers at a price of 19 bitcoins.

Is your data safe?

Although Jio has denied it, there seems to be little doubt that some details of millions of Jio users have been leaked on the web. It is a serious data breach affecting millions of people, given the size of Jio in India. And although it is true that in India rarely people care about privacy -- nothing else explains the cavalier way in which they hand out person details to almost everyone -- the size of the Jio leak is such that even the busiest Jio users are noticing it.

While the whole issues is kind of simple for now -- data leaked on a website and a few hours after users started noticing it, the website went down -- if you are a Jio user you will invariably have some questions and may be some confusion as well. Let's try to explain the whole issue and answer the questions you may have with some simple bullet points.

The Jio data leak, which you are hearing about, refers to the data of users that was posted on a website called magicapk.com. It was posted sometime last week although most of the people noticed it only on Sunday evening when Twitter users -- most notably @amit_meena -- started talking about it.
The data that was saved on the magicapk.com servers was searchable by a very simple and basic user interface. It required people to input the Jio number in the search field, which then returned with the user details if available. If user details were not available, the result page would show empty text fields in front of categories like number, email id and Aadhaar etc.
The leaked Jio data contained the emails ids, phone number, full names etc for the user data. It doesn't look like that Aadhaar number was leaked even though many Jio numbers were issued after the Aadhaar verification.
The leaked data is no longer available on the magicapk.com. The website has gone down, either taken offline by the website host or probably it has run out of bandwidth. But the data is also apparently on sale in dark web forums frequented by hackers and cyber criminals. Interestingly people who are selling the data aren't calling it Jio data. They only say that the data contains details of 120 million users of a big telecom firm in India. They also say that the data has details like the incoming and outgoing call records.
Jio has denied that its user data has leaked. This is rather strange because Jio data does seem to be out in the public. A Jio spokesperson has said: "We have come across the unverified and unsubstantiated claims of the website and are investigating it. Prima facie, the data appears to be unauthentic. If you are a Jio users from the early days of the launch of the service, chances are that your data has been leaked. But if you have taken a Jio connection in the last few months, it is possible that your data has not been leaked, or at least is not part of the data dump that was posted on magicapk.com.
What all has leaked? As noted earlier, it doesn't look like your Aadhaar details have leaked through the Jio data leak. But of the particular concern is the leak of the email ID, which nowadays is a sort of key to people's digital lives. The number too has been leaked, along with the full name.
The big question is what should you do now? If you are a Jio user, you should ask the company for details. Unfortunately, that is all you can do right now. India doesn't have a law on privacy or data protection so there is no legal recourse available to you. At the same time, the state of cyber security too is rather poor in India. Today it's Jio data. Tomorrow it could be data belonging to some other phone company or bank or even a government organisation. Although you can minimise chances of the data leak by being careful about sharing something like phone number with people and companies.
Is there a possibility of misuse of the leaked Jio data? Yes, there is. Both the phone numbers and email IDs of Jio users can be misused, especially if these are the primary numbers and primary email IDs. Although, this is not specific to just the Jio data leak. Whenever your phone number and primary email ID leak on the web, there is always a chance of someone, somewhere misusing it.
What's next for Jio users? Again it is not specific to Jio users. But to almost everyone in India. There is very little Indian phone and web users can do right now about their privacy, particularly in light of Aadhaar which is nowadays linked to almost everything and has now become mandatory for even SIM cards. The only way there can be some respite for Indian users when it comes to privacy is if the government comes out with watertight laws on privacy and data protection. But so far government has shown no inclination to do something like this.

The pioneering Web Search Engines

Indeed, the point at which modern search engines first began to appear is after the development and popularization of the MOSAIC browser in 1993. In 1994, Internet Magazine was launched, together with a review of the top 100 websites billed as the ‘most extensive’ List ever to appear in a magazine. A 28.8Kbps modem was priced at $ 399 and bought the internet within the reach of the masses (albeit slowly)!
At this point and for the next 4-5 years, it was just about possible to produce printed and web-based directories of the best sites and for this to be useful information for consumers. However, the rapid growth in the number of www sites (from 130 in 1993 to over 600,000 in 1996) began to make this endeavor seem as futile as producing a printed yellow pages of all the businesses, media and libraries in the world!
Whilst WAIS was not a lasting success, it did highlight the value of being able to search – and click through to the full text of documents on multiple internet hosts. The nascent internet magazines and web directories further highlighted the challenge of being able to keep up with an internet which was growing faster than the ability of any human being to catalog it.
In June 1993, Matthew Gray at MIT developed the PERL-based web crawler, WWW Wanderer. Initially, this was simply devised as a tool to measure the growth of the world wide web by “collecting sites”. Later, however, Gray (who now works for Google) used the crawled results to build an index called “Wandex” and added a search front-end. In this way, Gray developed the world’s first web search engine and the first automatic web crawler (an essential feature of all modern search engines).
Whilst Wanderer was the first to send a robot to crawl websites, it did not index the full text of documents (as had WAIS). The first search engine to combine these two essential ingredients was WebCrawler, developed in 1994 by Brian Pinkerton at the University of Washington. WebCrawler was the search engine on which many of us early pioneers first scoured the web and will be remembered with affection for its (at the time) attractive graphical interface and the incredible speed with which it returned results. 1994 also saw the launch of Infoseek and Lycos.
However, the scale of growth of the web was beginning to put indexing beyond the reach of the average University IT department. The next big step required capital investment. Enter, stage right, the (then huge) Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and it’s super-fast Alpha 8400 TurboLaser processor. DEC was an early adopter of web technologies and the first Fortune 500 Company to establish a website. Its search engine, AltaVista, was launched in 1995.
Founded in 1957, DEC had during the 1970s and 1980s led the mini-computer market. In fact, most of the machines on which the earliest ARPANET hosts ran were DEC-PDP-10s and PDP-11s. However, by the early 1990s, DEC was a business in trouble. In 1977, their then CEO, Ken Olsen, famously said that “there is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home”. Whilst something taken out of context at the time, this quote was in part symptomatic of DEC’s slow response to the emergence of personal computing and the client-server revolution of the 1980s.
By the time Altavista was being developed, the company was besieged on all sides by HP, Compaq, Dell, SUN and IBM and was losing money like it was going out of fashion. Louis Monier and his research team at DEC were “discovered” internally as the ultimate PR coup; The entire web captured – and searchable – on a single computer. What better way to showcase the company as an innovator and demonstrate the lightning fast speed and 64-bit storage of their new baby?

During 1995, Monier unleashed a thousand web crawlers onto the young web (at that time an unpretented achievement). By December (site launch) Altavista had indexed more than 16 million documents totaling several billion words. In essence, Altavista was the first commercial-strength, web-based search engine system. AltaVista enjoyed nearly 300,000 visits on its first day alone and, within nine months, was serving 19 million requests a day.
After Altavista, Magellan and Excite (all launched in 1995), a multitude of other search engine companies made their debut, including Inktomi & Ask Jeeves (1996) and Northern Light & Snap (1997). Google itself launched in 1998.
Of these early engines, each enjoyed its own enthusiastic following and a share of the then nascent search market. Each also had its own relative strengths and weaknesses. Northern Light, for example, organized its search results in specific folders labeled by subject (something arguably still to be better informed today) and admitted a small – but enthusiastic following as a result. Snap pioneered search results ranked, in part, by what people clicked on (something Yahoo! and Google are only toying with now!)

YouTube broke down in some part of the world

YOUTUBE is down at the moment with thousands of users saying the video streaming site is not working for them.

YouTube is suffering outages at the moment with thousands of users reporting with issues on Downdetector.

It appears that the popular video streaming site went offline around 2pm with thousands off users unable to access content.

Social media sites were flooded with complaints, with streams of YouTube users in the US and UK saying the Google-owned site was not working for them.

Independent website Down Detector, which measures social mentions around a certain topic to track outages across the globe, shows problems throughout the UK and Europe.

Almost two thirds of users reported having issues with watching videos on YouTube.

Downdetector stats also showed 28 per cent of YouTube users having issues with simplu viewing the website and nine per cent having login issues.

More than 15,000 users in the UK have reported issues with the site, and it comes a week after another outage hit YouTube.

The outage began around 2pm and has the amount of users reporting issues with the site has rapidly increased since then.

WHAT IS FUCHSIA OS?

Google currently has two operating systems out in the wild, Android and Chrome. Found by Ars Technica and compiled to run on an Android device as an application, Fuchsia OS shows what Google is looking to achieve with the new system. For starters, Google’s Fuchsia is built using Google’s own microkernel called Magenta. Google clearly wants to dump Linux, which is part of both Android and Chrome OS.

Hundreds of Android Apps on Google Play Store Infected by Xavier Malware

You might have heard researchers urging Android users not to download apps from a third party store since a lot of them contain malware. Now, things have changed as hackers and cyber criminals are bypassing Google’s security implementation on Play Store and uploading apps infected with malware.

The IT security researchers at Trend Mirco have discovered that over 800 Android apps on Google Play store contain a malware called Xavier that is silently stealing personal and financial data of users. The infected apps belong to categories like photo manipulators, utilities, ringtone chargers, anti-virus, volume booster, speed booster, video converter, call recorder, and wallpaper apps downloaded millions of times by users around the world.

The majority of downloads came from countries like Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam while some of the downloads attempts were from European countries and the United States.

Features of Xavier Info-Stealing Malware

The previous variant of Xavier Ad library was a simple adware with an ability to install other APKs silently on the targeted devices, but in the latest release, the malware author has replaced those features with more sophisticated ones, including:

Evade Detection: Xavier is smart enough to escape from being analyzed, from both static and dynamic malware analysis, by checking if it is being running in a controlled environment (Emulator), and using data and communication encryptions.

Remote Code Execution: The malware has been designed to download codes from a remote Command & Control (C&C) server, allowing hackers to remotely execute any malicious code on the targeted device.

Info-Stealing Module: Xavier is configured to steal devices and user related information, which includes user’ email address, Device id, model, OS version, country, manufacturer, sim card operator, resolution, and Installed apps.

Here is a list of 75 infected apps list that Google has already removed from its Play Store, and if you have installed any of these apps on your device, you are advised to remove it immediately

Android malware continues to evolve with more sophisticated and never-seen-before capabilities with every passing day. Just last week, we saw first Android malware with code injecting capabilities making rounds on Google Play Store.

How to Protect Yourself

The easiest way to prevent yourself from being targeted by a clever malware like Xavier, always beware of fishy applications, even when downloading them from official Play Store and try to stick to the trusted brands only.

Moreover, always look at the reviews below left by other users who have downloaded the app and verify app permissions before installing any app and grant those permissions that have are relevant for the app's purpose.

Last but not the least, you are strongly advised to always keep a good antivirus application on your device that can detect and block such malware before they can infect your device, and keep your device and apps up-to-date.

EDWARD SNOWDEN IS WARNING AGAINST DOWNLOADING GOOGLE'S NEW ALLO APP

Edward Joseph Snowden (born June 21, 1983) is an American computer professional, former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee and former contractor for the United States government who copied and leaked classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2013 without prior authorization.

Allo released worldwide yesterday becoming the first AI infused messaging app that uses machine learning to predict replies with impressive accuracy. But Google, after promising the app will keep privacy in mind has backtracked on it stating that the servers need to store data longer for the machine learning to work.

Now, champion of privacy Edward Snowden is warning users against downloading the Allo messaging app alleging the app to be the tool Google is using for mass surveillance. In a series of tweets posted last night, Snowden explained the privacy issues regarding the app.

As the app is powered by AI, it needs access to more information about the user to revert with intuitive and accurate replies. To make use of the smart reply feature of Allo, the app needs access to sensitive information to give relevant responses. And regarding this, Snowden points out that Google will keep a record of every word, image, location and other personal information that users share on the app.

The Verge reported yesterday the all information shared on the Allo app will now be accessible to lawful requests, similar to Gmail, Hangouts and location data collected by Google can be given to law enforcement authorities upon producing a warrant.

Allo will log all information, except those shared over the incognito mode to improve its AI assistance. This is opposed to Google's earlier promise that data will only stored for a transient period of time and in non-identifiable form. But then Google backtracked and admitted it will be keeping all records until the user manually deletes them or use the incognito mode.

But all said and done, whatever data Allo will collect about you, chances are, Google already has a lot more information about you anyway. Just head to the 'My Activity' dashboard in your Google profile to check for yourself. The dashboard shows every location you have been, everything you have asked Google to search using your voice and text. So it would hardly matter anyway.

Definiton of Doxing:

Quote:Doxing is derived from Document Tracing. Doxing is tracing the information from internet resources about particular person.

Usually internet users left their information(like gender,name,city,..) in some websites(like social network,..). So using some searching Techniques, we can gather complete data about a person. This type of searching(tracing) is known as Doxing. This data can be used to hack their account or trace them.

Use of Doxing:

Hackers can track Innocent peoples data and hack their accounts.

Security Experts can trace the Hackers(can trace some innocent hackers only,N00bs). This will be helpful for solving Cyber Crime cases.

What you can find using Doxing?Real Name, age,gender

Email id, registered websites

Social Network Page(facebook,twitter links)

Address, Phone Number

Parent’s Names and their Jobs

Place of Education (School/University etc.)

Relatives

and more data

From where you are going to start?

Yes, if you know person real name, then start from his name. If you know the username then start from there. or if you know any other data, start from there Using name or username , search for other information in google.

How to do DOXING:

Just assume you want to gather information about one of forum member. Let us assume his username is peter. If you search in google as “bruce” , you will get thousands results about peter. So what you are going to do?

You have to some other information about peter in that forum itself. For example , You got his birthday. Now you can continue your searching with “bruce xx/xx/xxx”. This will reduce the resutls.

Not only birthday, you can use some other info like signature. For example if he put signature in forum as “the batman”. You can continue searching using “bruce the batman”. This will reduce the Results.

Sometime your target person registered in multiple forums, websites,social networks… So while searching ,you will get result of registered website of him using that username or info.

Read Each posts of target person, he might left some more information about him any one of forums or websites.

Using Email Address for Tracing:

If you got the email address of target person, it is much easier to trace the person. You can search using in the following sites. you may get some data.

Doxing needs Intelligence:

Doxing needs Intelligence and searching ability. You have to guess where to search and what to search about person. Depending on searching ability, you will get what you required.

Security Questions:

Hacker can get the victim’s security question answer using doxing.

For example, if your questions is “What is your pet?”, he may guess. He will search with email or username . you may left your my pet is xxx. So now you are the victim.

Dictionary Attack:

Hackers can gather information about the victim and create a dictionary file(wordlist) for a target person alone. Using that dictionary file , he can crack your passwords.

Conclusion:

Doxing is one of powerful hacking method.

SECURITY TIPS FOR USERS:

Don’t use Internet. This is best security tip because your data can be traced by anyone. sounds crazy?! No one like to leave the Internet. So i am giving some other tips for you.

Becareful when you give information in internet.

Use very Strong passwords .

Don’t set Stupid security Question for account.

How to make a Phisher or Fake Pages.

Phishers are fake pages which are intentionally made by hackers to steal the critical information like identity details, usernames, passwords, IP address and other such stuff. As i mentioned intentional, which clearly means its illegal and its a cyber crime. Phishing is basically a social engineering technique to hack username and passwords by deceiving the legitimate users. Phishers are sent normally using spam or forged mails.

Note: This article is for educational purposes only, any misuse is not covered by akshi or Internet.

What is phishing?

Phishing is basically derived from the word called Fishing which is done by making a trap to catch the fishes. Similarly in case of hacking, hackers make Phish pages (traps) to deceive the normal or unaware user to hack his account details. Phishing technique is advancing day by day, its really tough to believe that on what extent this technique is reached but this is always remains far away from normal internet users and most of hackers.
Most of hackers and computer geeks still believe that Phishing attempt can be easily detected by seeing the URL in address bar. Below are some myths that hacking industry still have about Phishing. I will mention only few because then article will become sensitive and major security agencies will flag my website for posting sensitive data. So i will only explain the facts, if you need the same you need to fill the form and give us assurance that you will not misuse it.

Myths about phishing :

1. Almost each and every Hacker or computer Geek, thinks that Phishing attempt can be detected by just having a look on the URL. Let me tell you friends it was old days when you recognize Phishers by seeing URL’s. But nowadays recent development in Cross site scripting(XSS) and Cross site Script forgery has made it possible that we can embed our scripts in the URL of famous websites, and you must know scripting has no limitations. Below are some examples that you can do from scripting:
a. Embed a Akax Keylogger into the main URL and user clicks on the URL, keylogger script will get executed and all the keystrokes of the user will get record.
b. Spoof the fake URL: If you are little bit good in scripting and web browser exploits recognition then this can be easily done. What you need to do you need to write a script which will tell web browser to open fake page URL whenever user opens some website like Facebook. Just you need to manipulate the host file and manipulate the IP address of that website from Host file(found in windows folder).
c. Simply retrieving the information saved in the web browser like saved passwords, and bookmarks etc. Just need to write a script which will explore the locations in Windows user profile (where actually the stored information of web browsers saved).
2. One biggest myth, when you enter the data into the fake page, it will show either some warning message or show login information is incorrect. Rofl, new phishers are bit smart, now they don’t show warning messages, when you login through fake page. They will actually login you into your account, and simultaneously at the back end they will steal your information using batch scripts.

So friends i think this is enough back ground about new phishing technologies. Let’s learn how to make a basic Phisher of any website in less than one or two minutes.(This myth is content copied from google LOL :D.)

Steps to make your own phisher:

1. Open the website Login or Sign in page whose phisher you want to make. Suppose you pick Gmail.
2. Right click to view the source and simultaneously open notepad.
3. Copy all the contents of the source into the notepad file.
4. Now you need to search for word action in the copied source code. You will find something like below:

Now in this line you need to edit two things, first method and then action. Method Post is used for security purposes which encrypts the plain text, so we need to change it to GET.
Action field contains the link to next page, where it should go when you click on login or press enter. You need to change it to something.php (say Akshay.php).
5. Now save the above page.
6. Now open the Notepad again and paste the below code in that:

7. Location contains the next page URL, where you wish to send to user and passwords.html will contains the passwords.
8. Now save this file as lokesh.php as told in step number 4.
9. Now create an empty file and name it as passwords.html, where the password get stored.
10. Upload all the three file to any web server and test it.
Note: In case of facebook, it will show error after user login, for that you need to use tabnabbing trick.
Note: Always keep the extension correct, otherwise it will not work. So always use save as trick rather than save otherwise it will save files as Akshay.php.txt
