Political Correctness Be Damned!

Congressman LTC Allen West once again states the uncomfortable, politically incorrect truth (all emphasis mine):

West said the political correctness intimidates people from saying what he believes is true about Islam.

"If we continue down this road, as I call it multiculturalism on steroids, then we're going to present a gap by which we can get exploited time and time again. So I think that we have to start kind of like in baseball the umpire calls a ball a ball and a strike as strike and it's time that we start calling some strikes out there."

"I am not sitting up here and condemning people who call themselves Muslims," West said. "Now is the time we have to challenge this ideology. If we are to peacefully coexist they have to come into the 21st Century and push aside a lot of these 7th Century ideas they still hold."

West said he thinks that makes Islam a particular threat.

"We have to understand that the major religions of the world, Judaism and Christianity did go through reformations. Now when you look at this next major religion, I call it a theocratic political construct ideology, they need to go through a reform of the process as well.

"Ever since Muhammad left Mecca and took his Hijrah to Medina there was a violent turn to this faith that is called Islam. And we must confront that and we must understand that….

The last paragraph touches on what I wrote in comments under Howie’s post about the Taliban.

There are peaceful verses in the quran, and there are violent verses, as there are in other Holy Books. Muslims are free to select which of those verses they choose to embrace. But the quran has one distinguishing feature that other holy texts don’t have – the quran states which of those conflicting verses are valid and which are abrogated. One only needs to do simple research about the chronological order of the quran to understand how certain verses have become more relevant than others.

Are there peaceful Muslims who choose to only embrace the peaceful aspects of Islam and dismiss the violent aspects? Certainly. A majority do. But we cannot, in good conscience, ignore the truth that Islamic extremists do have religious justification to commit the atrocities they commit.

This is something Muslims, as a whole, need to address. They should be the first to challenge radical ideology of Islamic extremists. Since it would be impossible to dispute justification the quran (and Muhammad's own example) supports, West correctly states, there is a necessity for reformation.

But in the absence of their collective condemnation and reformation, it is imperative that all people who recognize the barbarity and inhumanity of terrorism to stand up for the truth. Knowledge is the greatest weapon of all. And as long as there is a brave few willing to speak out truthfully, however politically incorrect, there is hope.

The Concept of "Inner" Jihad (Bumped)

My friend Kitman at Kitman TV makes a very interesting observation about the difference between the 'inner' and 'outer' struggle in Jihad:

Roughly speaking Aziz argues that God is only happy if you are doing it for him alone. You should fight in the path of God so that his words will be the highest. God is not only upset if his slaves flirt with other Abrahamic faiths, he also tend to get very unhappy if they think too much of the earthly riches especially the war booty, or even their heavenly counterparts. Falling short on these issues could seriously damage the ability of an otherwise successful killing spree to heap up postmortem delights

Don´t think about:

- a share of the spoils of war
- having your own sex-slaves
- improving your career opportunities
- the pleasures of paradise
- bettering the chances for your family in the after life
- other distractions from the pure cause

Keeping an eye on all these things, while fighting the unbelievers makes jihad a very difficult exercise, physically as well as mentally - hence the classic distinction between the small and the grand jihad - the inner and outer struggle. It is thus important to remember, that Jihad really is a small inner struggle, in which you constantly remind yourself that you kill for God alone and in a manner he prefers. All the while treating the war booty as something irrelevant.

In short, 'inner' Jihad, as Muslims often attempt to tell us, is not necessarily a struggle to do good over evil (like the followers of Islam ever succeed in that struggle...) but rather ensuring the mindset that 'outer' Jihad (terrorism against non-Muslims) is being committed for Allah, and not for personal gain such as fame, wealth, or an elevated status.

Dearborn Law Enforcement Covering Up "Honor Killings"?

Shocking but not surprising if true.

A civil rights lawsuit filed by Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) on behalf of four Christians wrongfully arrested for proselytizing at an Arab Festival, alleges that Dearborn police and the local level government may be enforcing Sharia law - including covering up "honor killing" murders.

The four Christians, who are members of Acts 17 Apologetics Ministries, make this claim on their Answering Muslims website:

On a horrifying note, one of the police officers in the jail told us that there are honor killings in Dearborn but that they get covered up by the police department. He said that he had walked into houses where girls had been beheaded or had had their throats slit. (But check the local newspapers. You won't find any mention of these crimes.) The officer told us that some of the officers in the department support what we're doing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dearborn media was complicit in helping to cover up these crimes as well.

These allegations are included in the 96 page complaint filed by TMLC.

Nigerian Government Orders Military: "Shoot To Kill"

This order came down after a Muslim mob killed a Christian:

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) - Soldiers patrolling Nigeria's volatile central region received shoot-to-kill orders after a Christian mob killed a Muslim election worker and set his body on fire, an army spokesman said Tuesday.

Oh, wait! it was a Christian mob that killed ONE Muslim!

As Kenny Solomon points out in his email to me, we never see such orders after Muslim mobs kill Christians. In fact, after Muslim mobs have killed dozens - even HUNDREDS - of Christian civilians, the most we hear from the Nigerian government is a call "to remain peaceful":

Jonathan, who became acting head of state in February while President Umaru Yar'Adua recovers from illness, called for calm.

"He calls on all Nigerians to remain peaceful and law abiding since violence only begets further violence," the release said.

But this is Islam - one set of rules and laws for Muslims and another set of rules and laws for non-Muslims. Equality under Islam only applies to male Muslims. All other humans are considered inferior.

Something to look forward to if we continue on this same path of appeasement.

A Journey Through Islam

The most mind-boggling thing about converts to Islam, to me anyway, is why any good person would choose to follow such a cruel, misogynistic, murderer like Muhammad. Even Muslim converts have no real answers, as their excuses are always vague and often misinformed.

Another problem I have with Islam is that its followers too often ignore atrocities committed by other Muslims, but are quick to rise up in outrage over the slightest perceived insult against Muhammad or the Quran.

Why would a good person turn to Islam? Why don't good Muslims denounce Islamic terrorism and condemn terrorist groups like HAMAS?

I found the answer to both questions in this article, "Journey Through Islam" by Abdul-Quddus. It's long, but well worth the read.

The excerpt below is the answer to one of the questions above.

By striving to not conform with the kuffaar, we duly had to be ignorant by circumnavigating anything unislamic. We believed, if a Muslim concealed the faults of another in this world, his own faults would be concealed by Allaah on the Day (i.e., Day of Resurrection). One revert declared that Usama bin Laden was better than “a million George Bushes” and “a thousand Tony Blairs” simply because he’s a “Muslim”. Arrogantly speaking, we Muslims were “the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind.” (3:110) So when an atrocity occurred that was obviously committed by Muslims in the name of Allaah, my fellow brothers and sisters were complacent. We obsequiously forsook the human rights violations in Muslim countries, even when the victims were Muslims. The conspiracy theories widespread in my Muslim society were outright delusion. Not even the moderate Muslims, who neglected salaat and committed zinaa (illegal sex; fornication, adultery, etc.), could accept the Muslim identities of the 9/11 pilots. As my Afghani classmate remarked, “It was the Jews!” When the opportunity arose for self-criticism, inevitably, we instead blamed the Jews, our favourite scapegoat.
