Haven't updated this deal in a while - sorry about that. First thing on the agenda: A new rosary style - the MA1 - made of Moss Agate beads - very nice subtle greens, blues, grays - nice. Click for a larger image. More info on the catalogue page.

Item 2: Slight price increase from last year - up a couple of bucks or so from the previous price. Hey, a dude's 'gotta make a livin'. :) I trust these prices are still very reasonable and affordable.

Item 3: Thanks to everyone who bought rosaries in connection with the "sale" I put on to raise money for Michael and Denise Spencer - to help pay their medical bills when Michael was sick with cancer. Unfortunately, Michael passed away before all the rosaries were made. We pray the great Peace of Jesus for him and his prayers for us. Thank you again for your help in raising over $2,000 for the Spencers.

I've had a few people ask about cross necklaces. For a long time I've worn a simple necklace of a San Damiano crucifix on a cotton cord. I thought it might be a good idea to offer a combination of any of my one-decade rosaries with a matching necklace with the same cross, same color cord. I tie a knot to connect the cord - no metal clasps - very simple.

To order, just let me know which model of rosary you'd like (on the catalogue page)and I'll match the cord with cross necklace to the cord used on that model and send them both together. The cost if you order them together will be $15.00. If you'd like one of the necklaces alone, the price will be $3.50.

So, the necklace would go over your head. I make them approximately 27.5-28.5" around. That should fit most people. Let me know if you have an extra big head. :)

A while back, someone suggested I think of making these, and I'm finally doing it. It seems a good prayer tool and might be helpful for some of you - a Pater Noster Cord (click picture for larger image). Pater Noster means "Our Father" in Latin. These cords are a straight cord of beads upon with you might pray the Our Father as you meditate - maybe the Jesus Prayer or something like it. Traditionally they have a lot more beads, but I've decided to make one with 30 beads and include the finger loop in the end as I have in most of my other designs - handy I think. This Pater Noster will still easily fit in a pocket and wraps around the hand well too. I can also make these with other beads. They will sell for $20 each. Thanks in advance to anyone who orders. I keep saying I'm going to stop adding models, but I keep getting ideas. I can't believe I didn't have this one till now - a 1-Week Anglican rosary - the A2. The standard Anglican rosary is set up as 4 sets of 7 beads called "weeks." I just thought of making this short 1-week version very much like my standard 1-decade rosary. You'll notice two silver beads next to the crucifix - one is the invitatory bead, the other two are called cruciform beads. There are 7 prayer beads in between, made after the model of my A1 Anglican rosary - brown cubed horn and round paint brush jasper alternating. I've priced this in line with my regular 1-decade rosaries, at $12.00. It will be in the catalog below on the right. Peace.

Well, I said to myself that I was going to stop introducing new models for a while and here I go. This is the result of getting hold of a new "toy" - a Sacred Heart centerpiece, which my friend Debi pointed me to. The new SHF1 rosary is a full, 5-decade model made with paintbrush jasper beads - silver, round Our Father beads - the silver, Sacred Heart centerpiece - and the silver San Damiano crucifix. A while back, I made a 30 bead set of Orthodox Prayer Beads for an "e-friend" who ordered one. It turned out well, I think, so I've thought of adding it to the catalog for a while and just haven't. I don't generally do custom orders, but this one and the other ones I've done are in line with my current designs and ended up making sense to add to the collection. So, I say all that to intruduce the O2 - Orthodox Prayer Beads with 30 round, green Russian "jade" beads and 3 silver celtic knot separator beads, and of course the San Damiano crucifix (which was originally an icon crucifix/cross in that hung in that chuch in which St. Francis prayed, much influenced from the East). I have 2 more models to add to the catalog. I like these a lot. I'm always on the look-out for beads I like that would make a nice design. The first two are the PJ1, made with Picture Jasper (reminds me a lot of sand - desert fathers?) and the S1, of Sodalite - I've thought of adding something blue for a while and these are very nice. The third is made of round Pirite beads - the P1 - the beads are nice and heavy - very substantial feel. I also have the beginnings of an Anglican rosary going, but it still needs a little work. I realized I left a bead out - soon my Anglican siblings! Peace.

Happy Easter! Well, Lent is finally over and we find ourselves saying Alleluia once again. And thanks to God and to you all for helping in my Lenten Giving Project for Prince of Peace church and their ministry in Eastern Kentucky. We raised a total of $400 out of a goal of $500. I'm pretty happy about that. Fr. Frank and the folks at Prince of Peace have expressed their gratefulness for the gift. Good stuff.

I want to let you know, too, that I am once again stocked up on materials that I had run out of - crosses, cord, and celtic knot beads. I've also got some new beads to work with - new models forthcoming. Peace.

Happy Holy Week. Thanks to a great flurry of orders recently, I ran out of crosses AND celtic knot beads! Wow. More good news! We're now up to $320 in total giving for the project for Prince of Peace! I want to thank Michael Spencer for his support in this, and for me in general. Michael is a brother in Christ and his continued support of my little deal here has recently gotten some flack for it. Ah, the broken Body of Jesus. First, good news on the Giving Project. The first check was sent to Prince of Peace and Fr. Frank sent us a very nice thank you letter. Also, as you'll see on the right over there, we are now up to $270 in raised funds! Very cool. I'll be sending them the next $100 check this week. Thanks so much to everyone who has participated.

Another little thing: I thought it might be a good idea to re-post my original thoughts about why I'm doing this, what "rosaries" are, etc., so there's no confusion. I use the name rosary, by the way, because it's the most commonly used name, especially in my ecclesiastical neck of the woods, for what these things are that I make. Generically, they are "prayer beads" because, well, they are beads that we use as an aid to prayer of some sort. If you want to use traditional Catholic prayers with these prayer beads, that's cool. I do. If you don't, hey - that's cool too. If there is some way that this little tool can help you draw close to God, then great. I'm all for it. I'm not trying to "convert" anyone into having some devotion to Mary. Even those of us who have any devotion to her should be looking beyond to her Divine Son anyway. So - the Divine Son - Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior - let's focus on Him and we'll all be good. Peace be with you - read the story here.

Two new rosary models to choose from: I got hold of some Golden Horn beads - nice - very much like Amber in appearance, and the H6 was born (below left). I also combined the red cubed horn beads with the newer dark wooden round beads to create the HW3 (below right).

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I thought I'd highlight a few rosaries that might

appeal to those of you with a Celtic/Irish sensibility about you. Here are 3 rosaries in particular which fit the Irish bill as I see/feel it. One is brand new to the model list - the HJ3C. I made this for someone, actually, and as I was doing so, thought of Ireland. I combined the brown horn beads with the green Russian jade beads, along with the celtic knot bead. I love how this turned out. The feel of it is very Irish to me. I'll only be offering this one with the Celtic Our Father bead. Also there is the J1C and it's 3-decade sibling, the J1TC that I call the Trinity Rosary. The Franciscan nature of my designs, too, are very given to the Irish since the Franciscans rooted themselves in Ireland very early on in their mission. Franciscans everywhere over there! This Sunday at Mass, a former Associate Pastor came back to visit - Fr. Frank Brawner. Everyone was glad to see Fr. Frank again. He is now Pastor at a parish in Eastern Kentucky called Prince of Peace. He's actually responsible to do ministry in 4 counties, 3 of which are among the poorest in the US.

I'm from Eastern Kentucky and I'm familiar with how complicated the social and economic situation is there. It's not stereotypically what many think, but there is real poverty there. Anyway, he asked for our help, financially. As he did, I was impressed with an idea, I take it from the Holy Spirit, to help as I can. I would like to put on a Lenten Rosary Sale!

Don't get too excited, not THAT kind of sale. Everything will be the same price. I just want to, and this is the only way I could think to do it, give to that ministry, to that church and those people, through the sale of my rosaries. So, I have a goal of donating $500 of rosary sale money to Prince of Peace to help Fr. Frank do that work he and others are doing there.

Here's how this will work: I'm going to, along the way, make rosaries for this almsgiving sale and let you know what is available for purchase so that you can help with this effort if you'd like to do so. If you want to order and cooperate in supporting this giving to Prince of Peace, please do so by ordering one of the specified rosaries using the new Lenten Giving e-mail link located below the regular order link on the right above the "rosary catalog." As I receive orders toward this effort, I will keep track and send them a $100 check each time we reach that amount. I will also list the names of those who have bought rosaries in my letters to Fr. Recently, I had a request from a customer who is a member of the Orthodox Church, to make some Orthodox "prayer ropes." Until that point, I had not done so and wasn't too familiar with them. So I did a little research and came up with a design that fits the Orthodox bill, so to speak. My version is made with 50 dark wooden beads and 5 silver Celtic knot beads as the spacers. I've kept the San Damiano crucifix since this is what I typically use, and it is an Icon cross, after all, very appropriate for our Orthodox siblings. I'm calling it the O1 - it's pictured down on the right again - available for $25. Peace.

I am not schyzophrenic, I promise. I was holding this information until I got the order, but the Celtic Knot Bead is back! - As you see, it's the same as the former, original bead, but slightly larger - still works great though. SO, as long as I have them, I will be offering each model with either the round silver bead or the celtic knot bead. You can add "C" to the end of each model number for the same rosary with the celtic bead. I'm very happy about this. I like the newer bead as well, but I was mourning a bit at the loss of the original.

I have also developed a new 3-decade rosary model - a "trinity rosary"? Sounds good to me. You could use it as a "chaplet" as well. This new model I made is made with the celtic bead and cubed Russian Jade beads - see photo and price info down a bit on the right. Peace!
