We told you that a untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 would be coming very soon and now the respective Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team have delivered. Absinthe 2.0 is now available to download and according to the makers, it’s one of the easiest jailbreaks to install yet.

Apple are obviously not going to be happy about this, especially given the fact that their latest version of iOS has been blown wide open with apparent ease. Furthermore, the people behind Absinthe have even goaded Apple by saying that the jailbreak is so easy to install, ‘even your grandma could do it’.

Consumers who jailbreak their device are well aware of the risks though, so this untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 will be greeted with open arms we feel. Just to remind those that haven’t attempted to jailbreak before – an untethered jailbreak means that you can install this and won’t have to keep installing the jailbreak when the iOS device is turned off. A tethered jailbreak on the other hand would require this, so this is a big victory if you like for those concerned.

The untethered jailbreak seems to have come at a time when Apple are poised to unveil the next major version of iOS at their WWDC conference next month. All eyes are on what iOS 6 has to offer, but Apple’s security team now seemingly has their work cut out in insuring that their next version of iOS is jailbreak proof – if that’s even possible.

If you want to jump straight into the download, you’ll find links and instructions over at the GreenPois0n website here. This untethered jailbreak will only work on iOS devices running 5.1.1, although it will not work with certain iPad 2 devices so be aware of that before you attempt. For those wondering, it will even jailbreak the new iPad as well.

For those that have already installed this, did it go as smoothly as promised, or did you run into any trouble? The ball is now in your court Apple, we can’t wait to see what iOS 6 has to offer.

There has obviously been a lot of supposed GTA V leaks over the last few months, but with just days to go until E3 2012 we are treating this latest one with a lot more attention. A GTA V blog site has apparently leaked the ENTIRE list of characters that will be involved in the game, including the main character.

As with previous rumors on the game, it goes without saying that you should read the following information with a pinch of salt as it hasn’t been confirmed by either Rockstar or Take Two yet. Also, the following information could be spoilers overload, so look away if you don’t want to know the plot or main characters.

According to the blog, the main character will be a man known as Chico Vialpando – a 20 year old who is successful in life and has no problem ‘getting all of the ladies’. It is when he is tempted to join a local street gang and is introduced to Tony Cipriani when things start to spiral out of control. Cipriani should be ringing your alarm bells immediately, as he’s one of the main characters in Grand Theft Auto III.

Also featured in the game is Leo Johnson who is the son of Carl Johnson, otherwise known as CJ from GTA: San Andreas. Leo and Chico are cousins and Leo is apparently all that is left of CJ’s legacy, prompting him to join street gangs as well.

All this sounds very believable and according to the source has come directly from a Take Two employee. You can read the rest of the details including a more in-depth storyline through the blog link here. Wow, what are your immediate thoughts on this new character Chico? Bringing Tony and CJ’s son back into the game is a brilliant idea and we have a feeling that this is going to be one of the best plots seen in a GTA game to date.

Just to remind you, this is still a rumor until confirmed by Rockstar at E3. It obviously looks very promising though and we’re starting to get excited ourselves.

After Platinum Games and Konami showed off the surprising ‘revamp’ to their upcoming game Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, many questioned whether this hack and slash adventure was the right direction for the beloved franchise.

In recent months though, anticipation has been building for the game’s next global showing at E3 2012, and this week Konami has sent excitement levels through the roof by confirming that the game will be playable at the event in Los Angeles next month.

To build up the next appearance of Metal Gear Rising, Konami has released a very short teaser clip, showing the introduction to the playable demo that will be available to play for lucky attendees of the event. As you can imagine, not a lot is shown in the clip but we do get to see Raiden on the title screen, which is fairly exciting in itself.

At the moment there is no set release date for the game, but we fully expect Konami to announce some kind of Fall 2012 release for the game during their pre-E3 conference. Will it end up being a live event though, or a pre-recorded one like last year? One game that will definitely be making an appearance is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 which was leaked for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita earlier this week.

What are your thoughts on Metal Gear Rising at the moment? Is it still a game that you are very interested in buying, or are you waiting until the series returns to its stealth roots?

If you have studied the Galaxy S III OS and like the new changes that Samsung has brought into their new handset, you’ll be pleased to hear that there is a way to experience some of the new features on other Android handsets.

We have previously told you that the likes of Flipboard and S-Voice, two ‘exclusive’ Galaxy S III apps have already been yanked from the handset and become available for use on other phones. Now though, many more aspects are available to try out and if you have a Galaxy Nexus at your disposal, you can essentially turn your device to mimic features that Galaxy S III users will have once the phone launches in Europe at the end of this month.

A complete set of wallpapers, sounds, animations and applications are available to bring over to the Galaxy Nexus, providing that you are already running CyanogenMod 9 and AOKP. If you don’t have this and don’t have any experience in customizing your device, it is best to avoid so you don’t end up with a bricked device.

If this is well within your realms though, you’ll be able to enjoy all this and the likes of S-Voice and S-Memo if you don’t already have them. A short video demo of these Galaxy S3 features running on the Galaxy Nexus has been provided by the good guys over at Droid-Life. As you can see, the interface is as smooth as you like and you have to say that it looks fairly awesome. Instructions on how to download and all of the links can be found over at XDA Developer Forums here.

At the moment, we’re not sure if this works on the Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Note, but if you have already managed to get this working on other Android handsets, let us know in the comments section below. Are these the kind of things that make the Android OS great? We think so.

We have some great news for wrestling fans now, as it looks like WWE 13 has been leaked a little early than THQ had hoped. The game was surely due to be unveiled at E3 2012 next month, but a trailer has already been found online, revealing the game’s release date, initial graphics and some of the wrestlers that will be involved.

There’s no question that this is a genuine video and it confirms that current WWE champion CM Punk will be the main cover star for the game’s box art as he features heavily in the teaser trailer.

A tagline of ‘live the revolution’ is also heard throughout and towards the end of the trailer we see some actual gameplay footage. We’re not sure if there’s too much improvement from WWE 12 graphics wise, but the wrestling physics certainly look like they have been enhanced. We see CM Punk able to perform his flying elbow move off the top rope, onto the helpless Chris Jericho who is lying on the announce table.

There’s also sightings of a few old school wrestlers as well, Mankind, Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin to name a few. Unfortunately, there’s no Brock Lesnar or Paul Heyman in this trailer, but interestingly at the very end of the trailer we Mark Henry and another guy break the ring after a suplex off the top rope. If you follow wrestling, you’ll know that it was Brock Lesnar who made this famous after he broke the ring with Big Show all those years ago.

According to the trailer, WWE 13 will be releasing on November 1st this year. If you pay close attention to the platforms listed at the end, there’s also a Wii logo there, so we’re presuming that this will also be available for the Nintendo Wii U as well. Unfortunately, it looks like there will be no PC release again so make of that what you will.

What are your thoughts on the graphics shown in the trailer – nothing mindblowing right? Expect a full reveal at E3 2012 – let’s hope the New Age Outlaws are confirmed as previous rumors suggest.

We didn’t think that Bethesda would drop any more surprises until their E3 press conference next month, but we’re pleasantly surprised. The company has just announced a free piece of DLC for Skyrim, adding mounted combat which will allow you to attack whilst riding horses.

It’s obviously a small addition, but a very welcome one of course. Mounted combat was first seen in that great GameJam content preview and we’re glad to see that it has made its way into Skyrim in an official capacity. What is even better is that PC players can even try out the new feature right now, by downloading the 1.6 beta update that is available on Steam now.

Unfortunately, this means that console players will have to wait once again to try this out. Skyrim’s beta updates on PC always allows Steam users to preview new updates early, so it could be a long while yet until we see this land on Xbox 360 and PS3. If they wanted to, Bethesda could have easily charged a small fee for this which no doubt a lot of people would have bought in an instant. However, these free updates are another indication of the great support that Bethesda seem to be giving Skyrim post-release, so we just hope that extends to next year as well, and of course making all these new features available on console.

We’ve said in the past about the idea of mods becoming available on console and who knows, this could be a priority for Bethesda as well once they have released the highly anticipated Dawnguard expansion. Unfortunately, there’s no word on when that is coming out yet, but we expect a solid release date to be made at E3 – a gameplay trailer would be awesome as well.

Just to reiterate, mounted combat is now available on PC via the 1.6 beta update. Have you tried it out yet and managed to take down a dragon whilst still riding a horse? There’s a great video below showing that this is now definitely possible. Have fun with the update folks.

After hearing exciting information regarding a possible Mini iPad and a 10-inch Kindle Fire, we’re now pleased to say that we have some new information on the upcoming ‘Nexus’ tablet from Google.

A few months ago it had been rumored that Google may be asking ASUS to build their tablet for them and now we have some more details on this likely partnership. Digitimes have claimed that Google’s tablet is well near completion and that shipments will be starting in June in preparation for a release sometime in July.

Just to remind you, this isn’t a rumored product as Google chairman Eric Schmidt already revealed last year that the company would be releasing a tablet within the next six months. While they may have fallen a little bit short of that estimation, a July release would still ensure that Google has maintained their word and the tablet could force Apple to step up their plans on a renewed iPad effort with upgrades made to the existing ‘new iPad’ that launched just a few months ago.

If a July release wasn’t exciting enough for you, we’ve also heard that Google will be unveiling their new tablet at Google I/O which starts in June. Potential specs of the device that have been speculated include a Tegra 3 quad-core processor and Google’s brand new unseen Android 5.0 Jelly Bean OS. What do you make of the decision to allow ASUS to build the device though? The Transformer Prime is obviously a lovely piece of kit, so are you happy that Google has given the Taiwanese manufacturer a chance to become a global brand in the US?

Samsung would have been another obvious choice since they built the Galaxy Nexus, but we’re pleased to see that Google is trying out different things. How does a quad-core, Jelly Bean effort from ASUS sound to you this Summer? Instant buy for you, or will you hold out to see if Apple has something in the pipeline?

We have some exciting news for those of you who are looking to pick up a new MacBook Pro. You may have seen Apple’s new voice dictation feature on the 3rd generation iPad, but now we are hearing that we could see this feature on the new MacBook Pro models as well.

For those that are not aware, the new iPad doesn’t feature full Siri functionality yet, but it does bring a portion of the assistant’s capabilities with a fairly decent voice dictation mode. This was Apple’s first crack at shifting this over to the tablet community and now it could be extended to Mac OS X users as well.

A report over at 9to5Mac shows that Apple could make this possible, exclusively on Mac OS X Mountain Lion. At the moment, the MacBook Pro and Air models do not come with a separate voice speech button as seen on the new iPad’s virtual keyboard. However, an easy workaround appears to be in place as voice dictation on future MacBook Pro models could be accessible by simply pressing both command buttons simultaneously which are located either side of the space key.

If Apple are indeed planning to do this, we would like to see some improvements to voice dictation accuracy first. If you have used Siri on the iPhone 4 or dictation on the new iPad, you’ll know that it could obviously do with some enhancements in detecting speech more accurately.

Having voice dictation on New MacBook Pro models would obviously imply that Apple plans to make this a viable way of inputting text away from the physical keyboard. It would be fantastic if blog entries or long passages of text could be made via voice dictation on Mac OS X, but the software would obviously need some work first before this becomes a reality. At the moment, trying to input several sentences on the new iPad dictation doesn’t really work and you’ll probably agree if you have tried this out before.

Would you like to see voice dictation extended to Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro refresh? Hopefully we will see some clarity on this at WWDC 2012 which starts next month.

We have a word of warning for those of you who are close to maxing out your PS3′s hard drive. If you are getting Ghost Recon: Future Soldier which has just launched in the US, you’ll probably want to be aware that it comes with a mandatory 6GB+ install.

You would have thought that Ubisoft given the resources they have, would try and minimize the need for mandatory installs as much as possible. However, Future Soldier on PS3 comes with arguably one of the biggest mandatory installs seen since the PS3 launched in 2006.

The exact install needed is 6.35GB, so make sure you have the space saved on your HDD before inserting the game disc. For those that are wondering, the Xbox 360 version of the game also has a pre-game HDD install, but unlike the PS3 this one is optional so you don’t need to install it if you don’t want to.

If you want to pick up the digital version of this game instead and happen to have a subscription to PSN+, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a 15% discount in place which is nice – otherwise it is available for a whopping £50 for buyers in the UK.

For those that have already spent some time with the game, is it meeting your expectations? In other words, is it a welcome break from Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3, or have you already gone back to those games? We’ve seen some early criticisms of the A.I in campaign mode, so let us know your thoughts on this aspect as well.

It’s fair to say that there quite a number of Street Fighter fans who can seriously say that they’re a ‘hardcore’ veteran when it comes to supporting the franchise and buying every single game. Capcom is currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter and to mark the occasion, a special Collector’s Set will be available to buy in a few months time bringing all sorts of goodies.

We have seen Collector’s Editions in the past which cost over $100 and seeing the content that Capcom is offering for $150 here, we actually think that this is a very reasonable deal. Their Collector’s Set for Street Fighter will include a total of 15 discs, a statue of Ryu, an art book and also a replica of Ryu’s belt.

The discs in question are a combination of soundtracks and previous games. The soundtracks cover the entire Street Fighter franchise which is pretty cool in itself for video game music lovers, whilst the games on offer include Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (online edition), Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and wait for it, Street Fighter X Tekken as well.

What’s even better is that the SSFIV and SFXT discs will come with all character and costume DLC, including the characters that are currently locked away on console for Street Fighter X Tekken. Finally, you’ll also get a Blu-Ray containing documentaries, anime movies and the original Street Fighter 2: Animated Movie which is quite a watch.

Did we mention that the Ryu statue lights up as well? All that can be yours in September for $150. The big question that most of you are asking now though is whether the package is worth it or not. You could argue that most Street Fighter fans already own the games that Capcom are offering and if they are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter, then shouldn’t the company be including the original Street Fighter game and the likes of Street Fighter II Championship Edition as starters? That would probably make the package much more appealing, but we’re guessing it would take too much time and effort for Capcom to include the original games that made the franchise famous.

What are your thoughts on the Collector’s Set folks? Would you have liked to see some more game content as well? There’s no Alpha games either which may be disappointing to a lot of you.
