My crochet hat pattern

I have been making lots of hats lately and thought I would finally write out my pattern for an adult size hat to help me remember it. I always think I will remember and then I stop making hats and have to remember all over again how I make them. So - here is my pattern to share with you and help me remember! Here are some pictures of my recent creations! I hope this pattern helps you!

Adult
I crochet hook medium worsted weight yarn
Join with slip stitch at the end of each round.

ROW 1: 12 dc in the magic ring. Or chain 5, join in the first chain. 12 dc in the ring.
ROW 2: 2 dc in each stitch.
ROW 3: 1 dc in the next stitch. 2 dc in the next stitch. Repeat.
ROW 4: 1 dc in the next 2 stitches. 2 dc in the next stitch. Repeat.
ROW 5: 1 dc in each stitch.
ROW 6: 1 dc in the next 4 stitches. 2 dc in the next stitch. Repeat.
ROWS 7-13: 1 dc in each stitch.
For ear flaps - 10 dc on evenly spaced on each side of the hat for 4 rows.

Ponchos!!!

I just finished making ponchos for a group of girls at work. I make these by special order only. The ponchos are asymmetric and can be worn many different ways. So excited to get all 16 done!

Here is a picture (taken with my iPhone) of 13 of the girls with their ponchos on. They are all so pretty!

Amigarumi

I've been making so many things for gifts lately but forget to take pictures and post! Sorry. Here is a little pig I crocheted. I recently started trying to make cute little animals using the Amigarumi crochet technique. I learned to make this little pig by following the pattern for Leon the Pig. The pattern is pretty easy to follow and she also has some videos on YouTube to help with the various parts you have to make.

School Teacher Tote Bag

One of my daughters is a middle school choir teacher and I decided for her birthday this year I would surprise her and make her a music teacher's tote bag. I blanked out the name of the school on the picture to retain privacy. I embroidered the school name, the music notes and the word Choir with my Singer Futura CE200 embroidery machine. They don't make my machine anymore but there is an updated one just like it. The bag was made with a nice cotton blended fabric on the outside and a cotton music print on the inside. I also made a cute embellishment on the back with some of the music fabric and a ribbon. I don't remember the blog where I got the original tutorial to make this type of tote but I have made lots of them since then and made my own variations on them. I even added a zipper to one I use to put crochet projects in when I am on the go. She loved the tote. I hope she gets a lot of use out of it this school year!

Strawberry Crocheted Hat

A while back we went to visit some of our grandchildren and during our visit there was talk about cute crocheted hats that look like strawberries. When I went to bed that night I looked in my yarn stash (I always bring my crochet stuff) and happened to have some red and green yarn so I thought I would make up my own strawberry hat to give to my granddaughter. I think it turned out pretty cute! and my granddaughter is so darn cute, too! Not too bad for making it up without a pattern. Let me know what you think!

Today I didn't feel so great so I spent time on my computer and decided to create a new banner for my Etsy shop. Only - I made more than one and can't decide which one I like better. I thought I would post them and get your help to decide. The top one was made with some elements I downloaded from Shabby Blogs. The second one was made with elements I got from Jamie Dell Scraps. And the one on the bottom I made with a picture I clipped from one of my Quillows I made and sold!

Pillow For Valentine's

Today I made this pillow for a Valentine's Gift to my Sweetie to remind him to always kiss me goodnight (which he always does!) I think it turned out well. There are a couple of things I would do differently if I make more.

100% Cotton Washcloths

Lately I have been crocheting a lot of these 8"x8" 100% cotton washcloths. They can also be used as dishcloths. They are fun and quick to make and I like the pleasure I get when I finish one. Tote Bags!

I recently started having fun creating Tote Bags. Shown are a green tote that I loved and my newest creation... a Blue Checkered Tote. I spent time with my daughter showing her how to make a Tote. She made a denim tote with a cute red lining and I made the Blue Checkered Tote. We had a day of fun shopping for material and sewing together.

Green Plaid Baby Blanket

Last night was the first time I crocheted a decorative edge around a blanket using my new Skip Stitch Blade to cut the holes first. It made things so much easier! I was so happy I found the Skip Stitch! Its a great product. You can purchase this blanket at my new Artfire shop!

Credit Card Wallet

I wanted a new wallet but the kind I wanted did not have enough slots for my membership cards and credit cards so I decided to make my own! I still carry the wallet I bought but the credit card wallet is just that - a wallet for cards. I found a site called craftbits that had some instructions for making a smaller wallet to hold money and a few cards so I modified it to make what I had in mind. Here are some pictures of the results. If you want one too let me know. $5.00 each.

Crocheted Clutch

Brad and I took a ride to Cedar City and on the way I crocheted this little clutch. I got the pattern from Lion Brand Yarn's site. If you register you can get all kinds of patterns. I think it turned out pretty well. Its my first purse.It is 9 1/2" wide and 6 1/2" tall and opens up pretty wide.

Digital Scrapbooking

I have dabbled a little with digital scrapbooking. I like the concept of being able to make wonderful, graphic scrapbooking pages without having to buy all the "stuff"! The other day I found a great site called The Shabby Shoppe. "It is a DIGITAL scrapbooking site featuring high quality, downloadable products for both digi and paper scrappers." I took that straight from the site. There are video tutorials and free downloads to help you follow and do what they show you in the videos. It is fun and addicting. I really want to learn more. Bakerella

I found this great blog the other day. I am not sure how I got there. It was a link from one blog to another and then to another. It is Bakerella. She enjoys baking and creating sweets and shares what she does on her site. She makes the cutest "cake pops" (like lolipops but with cake inside) and tells you how to make them. This picture is just one example of some that she has made. She also makes cupcake pops and has done cute things for Easter. You can read how to make them by clicking here. I am planning on making some - maybe for a girls' camp fundraiser coming up. If I do I will take pictures and post them! I hope you check it out.

Twin Sweaters

I made these sweaters for a woman at work who is having twin baby girls this summer. I made them in the six month size so that they could wear them when it gets cold here. I am sure when they are born nobody will be thinking of putting them in sweaters! The Mother-to-Be loved them and said she would keep them forever. I made her promise to take pictures of them wearing them. If she does, I will post them to show how they fit. One of these days really soon I will get a better set up for taking pictures.
