Angel in a White Coat

Dr. Hapke is my angel! I started going to her a good 10-11 years ago. I found her after I had gotten my hysterectomy from a male doctor that just didn’t get women. She made me feel very comfortable from the very start. She has always taken the time needed with each and every appointment I made. She has never made me feel like it was rushed or that she was too busy and had the next patient to tend to. The turning point in my life was the day … Continue reading →

An EXCELLENT Experience at Bergan!

On January 3 my son came into Pediatric Express next to ER at Bergan Mercy in horrible pain. Upon arrival, we were very unsure what was wrong with him. After only a 5 minute wait, we were seen and taken into a room. After a few tests, we were told his appendix was enlarged and needed to be removed immediately. They called in the surgeon Dr. Imbrock at that time. He was there in less than 20 minutes. My son was starting to get very nervous and scared at the … Continue reading →

Thank You to the Hospice Staff

Thank you to the Hospice staff at Alegent that helped my family during my mother’s passing There are not enough words to say thank you to the Hospice staff at Alegent that helped my family during my mother’s passing. We will be forever grateful for all they did to make her comfortable at home and always being there for us. They made this journey with our mom’s passing so much easier for our family and the comfort and care they gave was so awesome – they are truly special people … Continue reading →

A lot to be thankful for

As we approach the first Thanksgiving since 4 members of my family began the HMR journey, I want to thank the health educators at Alegent HMR in Omaha. My wife and I started last February. Our adult son started a week later. Our adult daughter started in August. Everyone is in Phase 2 now and we’re all doing well. The three who started in February are all at (or below) their goal weights. Daughter is well on her way. The basic HMR program, together with outstanding guidance by Alegent staff, … Continue reading →

Thank You Alegent Health at Home

I cannot tell you how much I am impressed with Alegent Health. I must tell you how my whole world changed after receiving a delivery from your medical equipment staff. Your driver was delivering a toilet commode for my husband because he just had hip replacement surgery. He was patiently waiting for me to get off the phone so I could sign a paper. Well, I happened to be having a big meltdown on the telephone because my grandma was practically being thrown out on the street. She did not … Continue reading →

Getting to know the unknown

Having only lived in the Omaha area for a few years, I was not familiar whatsoever with the hospitals and doctors in the area. I learned I was pregnant in December, 2009 and was advised by my family physician to visit an OBGYN at week 10. At week 7, I began having complications and feared I was having a miscarriage in the middle of the night. I went to Midlands Hospital ER expecting to be treated as a barely-pregnant and routine patient but was surprised by how deeply caring the … Continue reading →

The “Ta-ta Sisterhood”

Our “Ta-Ta Sisterhood” is a group of 10 wonderful women who made the trek in October together, to have their annual mammograms at Mercy Hospital’s Mammogram Suite. Our group “leader” Jannine thought of the idea 2 years ago when she invited 4 of us to join her. She gathered our information and made the appointments so that we would could be seen one after the other. We all know that going to get your mammogram isn’t something you necessarily look forward to, so her idea of making it a fun “girls’ day out” made it … Continue reading →

Not everything can be planned ….

I wanted to let you know about the experience I had at Midlands on the maternity floor. We had decided to deliver our third child at Midlands after two deliveries at a different hospital. Because our son was past his due date, we planned on being induced on May 16th. We checked in the night of the 15th and the nurse, Megan, handled everything the moment we stepped on the floor. She walked us through the plan and made us feel very comfortable with her knowledge and confidence in the hospital … Continue reading →

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Just days after suffering a stroke, 61 year old Fred Jalass was changing routes and coordinating the 2011 Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) from his hospital bed at Immanuel Rehabilitation Center. As co-chairman of the annual bike ride, Jalass (Easy Rider) could not let a stroke stop the work that must be done to accommodate the hundreds of riders planning their trek across the great plains of Nebraska. It was this determination and optimism that carried him through this trying time in his life. Needing to relearn simple things such … Continue reading →

This Only Happens in the Movies…

I remember searching for ‘the perfect doctor’ when I first found out my husband and I were expecting. I had heard so many good things about Alegent that I decided to start there. I didn’t end up looking any further. I loved that I could see a photo of the doctors and they had introduction videos about them. I watched Dr. Erin Evans’ video and immediately felt a connection. She talked about how she made each person feel comfortable and gave care specifically designed for them. I made my appointment … Continue reading →
