sore throats one after another, you start to think you might be next. So I grabbed these tins of Dr Stuart’s Candies when I spotted them. And you know what? They really are extraordinarily Good, as the packaging says.

In fact, I think the candies are better than the herbal teas from this British brand. Although they are not marketed as lozenges, the candies come in throat-soothing flavours.

The Chamomile & Manuka Honey flavoured candies have a floral sort of sweetness, the Echinacea & Cherry ones are perks and fruity, and the Peppermint & Eucalyptus ones pack a punch.

This sleek black Gucci number runs the risk of looking too Morticia Addams but the sultry Vega makes it work with her regal bearing – and the loveliest smoky eye make-up (subtle and sheer but still sexy) we have seen in quite a while.

But there are merits to this option. Price is one thing and the results that can be achieved with such a camera are no less expensive. Fujifilm’s S200EXR is a 12-megapixel camera with 14.3 times optical zoom.

The lens’ focal length is equivalent to 30.5-436mm on a 35mm camera. Combined with a supersensitive EXR CCD, the S200 becomes one high-powered camera with an affordable price tag.

Sony’s Vaio X impresses at first sight. It is so light (655g to 745g) and thin (13.9mm) that is seems inconceivable that a full-fledged PC notebook with an 11.1 inch (LED-backlit, 1366×768 resolution) screen can be housed in that shell.

It is powered by an Intel Atom processor (1.86GHz to 2GHz) and comes with SSD storage (64GB to 128GB), 2GB memory and the latest Windows 7 operating system.

The first models in the market lack WWAN support, but a third configuration scheduled to be available later this month will have this feature.

Bundled battery life is estimated at between 3 1/2 to 7 1/2 hours, with the right screen and performance settings.

The Vaio X is the latest in a series of outstanding Sony designs. But, like the Vaio P, the innards of the machine could have been beefed up.

It is an expensive proposition to pay so much for a PC powered by a processor found mainly in much cheaper netbooks. Surely Sony could have put in a CPU with more heft and thrown in more state-of-the-art features.

That would have made the Vaio X an even greater machine. More review at Mobile Computing.

The Department of Homeland Security, which is in charge of telecommunication networks during times of national emergency, however, does not have a strategy to deal with overloaded Internet networks, the GAO was quoted last week by the Washington Post as saying.

A case of national finger-pointing, perhaps? No metter.

The cautionary note is that physiological health and digital health are more enmeshed than you think. So, Singapore’s health and infocomm regulators and Internet service providers could consider mulling over the strength of the nation’s networks too,

Chit-chat at these digital hangouts have grown tremendously over the past two years, but companies have not yet decided how to tap or curb the chatter. The prattle is likely to continue unless firms state clearly how and when these sites can be used.

Nobody wants to be treated like a nobody.

Here are the three basic rules for customer feedback:

1. Make it easy for customers to give feedback
If possible, put up a customer hotline for your business, and also allow the customers to give feedback anonymously (not everyone likes to disclose their personal information). When they are able to remain anonymous, in leads to more honest feedback.

2. Thank the customer for the feedback
If a customer is giving feedback, even if it is in the form of a rude complaint, you must realise that you are benefiting from his/her frustrations. Do give some form of compensation as a nice thank you note no matter what the feedback may be so that your customers feel appreciated for their time taken. In the end this will also show your customers that whatever their thoughts and comments mean something important to you.

3. Analyse the feedback
Is this feedback based on an isolated incident? Have you received similar feedback before from other customers? Is this customer being reasonable in their requests and/or suggestions? Will acting on this feedback benefit the organisation as well as other customers, or just this one customer? You certainly do not have to act on all suggestions, but you certainly should consider all of them with care.

Customer feedback should be used as just one of the sources of the information in decision making, but never the primary source. There are times when you know your product better than anyone and your vision and determination will make it work despite an anonymous person’s personal opinion.

Researchers believe that neurotic character traits may exert similar effects. So helping neurotic people to calm down or chill out could, theoretically, reduce their risk of asthma.

Dr Adrian Loerbroks from Heidelberg University, Germany, and his colleagues surveyed 5,114 men and women aged 40 to 65 years of age from the Heidelberg area to explore associations between neuroticism, stressful life events and asthma.

They noticed a link between asthma and unemployment in both sexes. Women who had broken off a life relationship were also associated with having asthma. According to the investigators, individuals who were highly neurotic were three times more likely to develop asthma than those who were less neurotic. Breaking off a life partnership more than doubled the risk of asthma development.

The link between high neuroticism and the development of asthma was present in women and men, whereas breaking off a life relationship increased the asthma risk only in women.

Unemployment and death of a close person were not significantly associated with the development of asthma, noted the researchers.

The facts: With H1N1 becoming a threat again, people are being reminded to wash their hands often to reduce the spread of the disease.

Soap and warm water have long been said to prevent the spread of infections, but is warm or hot water more effective than cold?

In its medical literature, the United States Food and Drug Administration states that hot water comfortable enough for washing hands is not hot enough to kill bacteria, but is more effective than cold water because it removes oils from the hand that can harbour bacteria.

However, in 2005 report in the Journal of Occupational And Environmental Medicine, scientists with the Joint Bank Group/Fund Health Services Department pointed out that the various temperatures had “no effect on transient or resident bacterial reduction”.

They drew this conclusion from studies in which subject who had their hands contaminated were instructed to wash and rinse with soap for 25 seconds.

They used water with temperatures ranging from 4 deg C to 50 deg C. The scientists found no evidence that hot water had any benefit and noted that it might increase the “irritant capacity” of some soaps, causing contact dermatitis.

“The temperature of water used for hand washing should not be guided by antibacterial effects but comfort which is in the tepid to warm temperature range,” they wrote. “The use of tepid water instead of hot water also has economic benefits.”

The bottom line: Hot water for hand washing has not been approved to remove germs better than cold water.

Up above you can see the D-roll set up like a regular laptop, and it’s easy to imagine how portable it’d be all rolled up. Already, Android holds 7 percent of the market globally.
Conceptualised as a free, open-source platform OS, customers liked that Android makes smartphone tasks like Web browsing and networking easy.

Nearly all smartphone makers, including HTC, Motorola and Samsung, are busy coming up with Android-run cellphones. Given its fast growth, the Google OS could not only be force that powers smartphones, but it could even muscle out Windows Mobile.

Global consulting firm Ovum said this in its Mobile Application Downloads Forecast: 2009-14, released earlier this month.

The sales will ring in some US$5.7 billion (S$7.9 billion) in 2014 for stores like BlackBerry App World, Android Market and Windows MarketPlace, as well as independent app stores run by the likes of GetJar and Handango.

The growth is not unexpected given that more people will pay for useful apps, like those to find a restaurant, ATM or game apps, those that are merely quirkly (like gem visuals that proclaim how are you feel), will likely be relegated to the Hell Of Useless Ideas, if there was one.

Also, given that the growth will be strongest in the next two to three years, now is the time for budding app developers to work on them.

The hearts of many photographers were sent fluttering when images of the then rumored E-P1 with the design reminiscent of the Olympus classic half-frame PEN SLR (Single-lens reflex) were circulated on the Internet.

The display is a 3.2" HVGA (320X480) AMOLED, there's a 528MHz processor inside, a 5MP camera on the back, it's running Android, comes with 8GB standard memory, and has a MicroSD memory card slot that can be expanded up to an additional 32GB.

There is a high/low/off volumen control and thanks to a led sensor the cuckoo stays quiet at night! While the cuckoo strikes, you can hear the sound of falling water on the background.

The Super Shift Lux uses supple, tumbled leather with tonal patent leather accents with Heyday’s signature triple stitching and raw leather edges that take on character the more it is worn. Rubber cup soles with Heyday bottom logos, flex grooves in the forefoot and 360 degree stitching make for a completely secure mechanical bond from upper to sole

But like I said, ten years out of more before the same genetic building blocks found in all of us are also powering the supercomputers of the future.
