For a while I’ve wanted to take my fashion work in a different direction than I have in the past. The images I’ve had in my head are grittier, with a bit of vintage swagger, be it a look of mystery in the model’s eye, or classic sex appeal… attempting to capture something people connect with, over perfect and posed. This past weekend I started working on the new look and had the pleasure of shooting with Mark Grossman.

This past week�amidst everyone’s busy holiday schedules, Taylor, Rachel, Todd and I met up for a shoot. I originally had a concept in mind that I wanted to turn into a small series, tho after taking a look at Rachel and Todd’s inspirations and a bit of discussion, we took my original idea up to another level and set out to create three individual, unique looks. This past weekend Allix and met up for a session and bounced around my loft complex freezing our butts off, got to try out some edgy styles and some new equipment. For our first setup we based the concept off an advertisement she had seen with a girl wearing guys jeans and skivvies. Here’s a couple photos from that setup.

For the past several months I’ve been looking through European, NYC and LA magazines and photographer’s blogs that have a heavy focus on movement and emotion over clean lighting and posed models. The style has intrigued me a lot and I’ve started experimenting with it in my personal shoots. For this session, Quinn and I set out upon Downtown Phoenix with nothing more than a camera, some outfits and a really vague idea. Here’s a few of the images that turned out from our afternoon of shooting.
