Fall Fashion Week sneaks up on us – as we try to find our footing in an uncertain future. It sneaks past our personal ledgers and those of the robber barons. Past the rhetoric and positioning of our leaders.

The spark of culture in these trying times, often unfocused, unnoticed and scattered, lays the foundation for our future. Rodarte was the star of spring. Leaving behind the color of last fall. The almost neon and iridescent kaleidoscope of gorgeous shades only materialized in editorial spreads, yet not in the clothes themselves. Buyers never purchased the striking array of coats from Lacoste; consequently they were never produced.

Emerging from my hole of fashion prep and the divining of new trends and designers. There are three stacks of invites on my desk, each about six inches deep. I went to the SVA Theater to see the first two episodes of the The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi. And laughed my ass off !!!

Tinsley and Fern. Oh my. Both were in the crowd, as well as assorted fashion folk from designers to PR Mavens. Robert is fashion's answer to Life on the D-List. We might have just found the gay Kathy Griffin.

I don't want to give away too much. It's well worth tuning into Logo for the show. Brought to you by the same producer who concocted the Real Housewives of Atlanta and the soon to be Kept. It's a lark on reality TV and fashion itself.

Making fun of assistants while getting a massage in a meeting has never been so fun. Because you know they're in on the gag. It's not as tortured, like Kell on Earth. The piecing together, of every dramatic moment at People's Revolution. Instead it takes itself lightly and wonderfully so. While Rachel Zoe might be true to form and a lovable space cadet, Verdi launches from the pad and invites us to join in the mockery of high-end beauty products that are often a waste of time, effort and money. 

Robert takes unscripted drama to new highs. Or, is this simply the twizzlers sugar rush talking. There's Kiehl’s in the swag bag. Yes !!! I'm in love.

In the age of blogs, the 24 hour news cycle and the Party of No. We need some good TV fodder. C-Span could get the same ratings as Jersey Shore. Maybe our new senator will share the details of how the cosmo shoot went down. Was he fluffed? 

Will any one of the sixty-year-old fogies stalling progress and holding onto the last decade and any hope of innovation, faint, then need to be dragged out on a stretcher. Will they be so lost for words at one point, that they'll confess to past affairs and lament lost lovers. 

These things have all happened in the past. Now it's simply the threat of a filibuster that will doom sensible legislation to the pits of hell. 

Give John Stewart some more clips, he'll do the greatest highlights of a party on the verge of embarrassing themselves. We'll nod sadly and understand that filibustering legislation that makes senses. Is a good strategy for compromise. 

I see no better way, of forcing compromise then the stupidity of a log jam in public. 

With a ten percent unemployment rate, a seventeen percent underemployment rate and the far more prominent corporate mantra - of bosses all over the country collectively scoffing at pay raises or even comparable pay for what the employee does. We have succeeded in winding the gap between the haves and the have nots, this is now a canyon and not a small divide. 

Ambition and the ability to say, I can make it in America, has kept us stable and whole and in some ways allowed the rich to get richer. Because anyone could be rich. Now it's harder to even dream the dream (cue the music), then a fashion week invite to Rodarte or Lady Gaga tickets. 

So maybe it's time for a tangible third party, with out Tea Bagging in it's name, I still shudder and think of naughty backroom sex when Glenn Beck talks about the movement. 

The Bull Moose Party is the often mentioned case study, after a split in the Republican party. The election gave us Theodore Roosevelt.  The conditions were very much the same as they are now. Many voters without party affiliations want real change. 

We were hoping Obama would be our FDR. This wishful thinking rallied the troops and has now caused a worse hangover then an all night party binge. I'm surprised no one's set up a stand in the greenmarket, where rotten veggies can be thrown at an effigy of our Pres. Can we actually do that. Is it still legal, like the good old days. 

Even though we've made much progress in 100 years. We've learned a lot. Made fancy things happen. Given ourselves sanitation, cured many diseases. In order to get to the next step in our human existence. We need prosperity for all and for people to afford their lives! It's that simple. The more people we have, who can meet their expenses. The better off we'll all be.

From observations in style and politics, it seems. Like we're repeating the cycle of the last 100 years, just with shinier toys. Thanks Steve. 

Now for a third party to truly form. We need someone to stand up and say, pick me. With enough financial backing to run a crazy campaign and not be backed by corporations. Oh, wait. Didn't we have that. 

So disillusioned.

Steve Jobs messiah machine has quickly become plagued by idioms. It's become apparent that the platform is one big iPhone and it's just to expensive. On the great sliding scale of linage, it's more phone then computer. So people have to decide. Is it worth dishing out that much cash, on an iTouch. Yet small publishers like Adonis Mag are finding uses for the iPhone platform and I'm sure they're pictures will be even better on the iPad.

Jon Stewart seems to be the only sane man in media and politics. I don't understand why Obama is so alone, he seems to be taking hits from all sides. He has moved to the middle, much to the dismay of the left. Giving up many initiatives on the way. I'm in New York, my Senators are on his side. The rest seem to be shrugging and thinking that the independents want the conservatives in power.

No, they want the change that was promised. They want to know that they can have health insurance and a job and won't get eaten up by the banks.

The lost decade has been mentioned. Time and time again. Yet we seem to do little to be pulling ourselves out of it. Ultimately the citizenry wants change. It's up the Democrats to find their spin and unity and give it to us.

Obama needs to stop being nice and whip his majority into shape.
