London Fashion Week AW12: Louise Gray

Now London Fashion Week has officially come and gone, I’ve had some time to reflect about the shows I saw, and Louise Gray‘s AW12 show was definitely one of my personal highlights of the week. Although personally I’m usually dressed quite classic and minimalist, I do seem to have a penchant for the designers on the complete other side of the spectrum. Louise Gray couldn’t be further removed from my usual black and navy uniform, and that’s probably why I love her.

The Scottish designer gave us her trademark wild barrage of prints, colours and materials, all layered on top of each other, perfectly topped off with the crazy mohawk hairdo’s courtesy of hatmaker Nasir Mazhar. Her usual Eighties clubkid style may not have changed, and yet, I felt like this was a grown up Louise Gray collection at last. Yes, some combos pushed the line of being a bit over the top, but once you start dissecting the collection, you’ll find tons of gorgeous separates and accessories, like the printed dresses, some beautiful coats and jackets, knitwear (another collaboration with Brora perhaps?) and some real must-have bags. The hardcore Louise Gray fanclub (which always lines the front row decked out head-to-toe in her clothes) definitely won’t be disappointed, and yet I feel like this might be the season Louise Gray will finally become every editor’s favourite.

Wednesday Wishlist: The Post Fashion Week Edition

This week’s Wednesday Wishlist is inspired by a look I saw at LFW. I spotted the gold sweater on an editor on the front row and was absolutely shocked to spot it in my local H&M this morning for less than £10, so I immediately got it… The rest of the wednesday wishlist is a loose interpretation of said editor’s look.

Holly Fulton brightened up the day with her pinks and turquoises.

Popped by the gorgeous Trafalgar hotel to check out the Guess presentation, which was a hotel room where the Guess girl just had a wild night. Original and fun!

Ashish worked his trademark sequins in a Bollywood-slash-Hare-Krishna theme.

Someone made the poor decision to leave the lights off for the majority of the catwalk length at the Aminaka Wilmont show, so we could barely see the clothes, let alone take a good picture, so this is the best I can give you.

I credit my new Bimba & Lola trainers for getting me through this week. Comfortable & stylish. I love you, my precious little shoes.
Paid a visit to the adorable Jasper Garvida backstage before his show, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic fashion week for me!

Louise Gray was one of my favourite shows of the season by far. There was the usual mix of colour, print and a bit of grown up club kid. Absolutely stunning.
Pam Hogg shows always guarantee celebs, chaos and plenty of flesh on display. The AW12 show was no different.

Mulberry announces new “Del Rey” bag!

This hot off the press: Mulberry has announced it is launching a new bag named after Lana Del Rey!

This is not a bad feat for a girl who’s been on the global radar for less than a year, so this bag will cement her status as a true music and fashion darling. The Del Rey bag is a classic, timeless Mulberry bag with a bit of a retro feel, not unlike Lana’s classic Hollywood style. Of her bag, Lana said: “I love the design, a perfect mix between old school Hollywood and contemporary style. It’s an honour that such a classic and prestigious brand would name a bag after me.”.

The Del Ray launches as part of the AW12 collection, and will come in Deer Brown Grainy Print, Black Forest Soft Matte, Black Soft Spongy and Petrol Veg Tanned Lambskin leathers as well as two Catwalk Collection editions in new luxe leathers Gold Large Metallic Snake Print and Ink Blue Sparkle Croc Print.

Lana Del Rey aside (I’m still on the fence there), I quite like the classic look of the bag – but will it bring as successful for Mulberry as the Alexa was? Only time will tell…

London Fashion Week AW12 – Day 1 Highlights

London Fashion Week AW12 kicked off yesterday with a bang. To say I started a little bleary-eyed is an understatement (I blame the epic Björn Borg party the night before for that), but being picked up by the Bracher Emden cab (which had some goodies waiting for me!) made it a bit better!

I won’t do full reviews until after it’s all over – as I want to give them my full and undivided attention, but here’s some highlights from Day 1!
