jQuery Shadowbox and Photo Library

Sorry, I don't have time to write a tutorial, but basically it is the same as the other async calls with jquery. It reads a Photo Library, order by date, populate the "ciPhotoOfTheMonth" DIV and call shadowbox to attach the href tags inside of a DIV to shadowbox

Printing object xmldocument

To print the "object xmldocument" you can use: alert('responseText: ' + xData.responseText);

For some reason some controls in edit mode throws: save your changes before continuing, click "OK". To continue without saving changes, click "Cancel".

To fix the leave authoring problem in sharepoint you need to add the following tag in the header of your master page:

jQuery and Sharepoint web services - add a list item

This is a very basic tutorial in how to add list items using SharePoint and jQuery. Some prerequisites to understand what is happening.

The main items to observe are:

xhr.setRequestHeader that you can get from the web services page (see bellow)
in the SharePoint' list you need two columns Title and Description
the browser alert window will return some information that you could remove after testing
after posting the information in the list it will run the processResult function where you can do some fancy user feedback

In the SharePoint web services description you can extract the value for the xhr.setRequestHeader variable invoking /_vti_bin/lists.asmx?op=UpdateListItems, here is an example:

Removing html tags from xml with xslt (aka string html tags with xslt)

The technique to remove tags from xml with xslt is very creative. If you have a xml document that is like:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet <b> consectetur adipiscing elit </b>. Suspendisse ac ipsum eu orci accumsan dignissim. Fusce fringilla.

The script will store in the variable the items before the "<" and send to recursion the items after the ">".

Sharepoint link in XSLT - FileRef

For some reason SharePoint translate your FileRef links in XSLT when you use the data view web part, content query web part, or any other XSL in SharePoint. It translates to the library link. To fix it, you have to use the xsl:attribute. Example:

To replace the space in the middle of the filename in linux you can use "mv"

There is a small bug in IE that makes $.text() return garbage text at end, in case you have a bug that you cannot nail down, debug the problem using: alert(encodeURIComponent($.text(...))); that will show any hidden character. One of my friends add a SSL in his SVN, and I got Server certificate verification failed: issuer is not trusted

# svnsync --non-interactive sync

svnsync: PROPFIND request failed on '.....'

To fix, run svnsync without "--non-interactive", that will prompt you to store the cert (p)ermanently in the .subversion directory. Example:

Looking back in the internet history, during the altavista peak, yahoo was one the most trusted sources of search that hold them back also, for any submited url you will have a human adding some metadata and promoting the interesting ones to the top. However with the fast grow of internet that became unmanageable. Along came Google with their fancy algorithms, they also had a problem for each, new algorithm, people were find ways to shortcut it. To increase the confiability in the search results it is proved that human can do a good job, also shortcut most of the algorithms. Several search engines try to create comunities around their search tool to improve the results quality, you could even get paid for it. However the community attraction for it was not there. One of the solutions could be use the social bookmarks to weight the search results. Most of people bookmark items that they like, or they want to share with their peers. There are several social-bookmarks/multiuse-tools where users can weight in and it is being heavily used like: Delicious, Google Bookmarks, Google Reader, Stumble upon, etc. Why not combine the search results with the social bookmarks? The open APIs from Yahoo and Google could facilitate this process, in a cascading process:

Send the search query to a search engine
Get the results and send to a social bookmark to collect the bookmarks
Order the results by the number of bookmars
