Gratitude List

2014-11-24T12:31:00.000-08:00

Hey World,

I love that many are writing daily gratitude lists this November in honor of Thanksgiving. In order to see the abundance around us we must first practice gratitude.

I am so grateful for my health, my family and friends. I started my gratitude list recently and it's a great way to start off each day and end each night. Just write 10 things down that you are thankful for and enjoy sweet dreams.

XOXO,
Alexandra

This week I came home to a pretty "Monday present" from my man! Yay! I love Jimmy Choos.
I love my new, adorable little wedges! They are perfect for summer!

Impromptu Saddle Ranch bull ride and dinner night last night!
Cotton candy and Jimmy Choos? Yes please and thank you.

Louboutins & Love

2014-05-28T16:47:00.000-07:00

Hey World,

Award season just flew by. Sorry I have not written in a couple months. I've been busy planning my upcoming wedding.

YESSSS....I got engaged.

I'm normally particularly elusive about my personal life. It may seem as though I am outgoing and the life of the party but I love to keep a portion of my life super private.

This is me, all smiles, on the way with my prince charming to our engagement party last weekend.

So, one of my dreams is coming true and I probably won't reveal much more about my prince until after our wedding. I've been in love before, met wonderful men before, but I finally met my best friend who will fight for us no matter what! He is a true blessing and gift from God. Our story is so adorable and I will share when the time is right. It's a Hollywood love story.

We met in Hollywood, fell in love and he proposed shortly after. I've never been so loved and happy in my life. I can't wait to marry my best friend.

Love,
Lexi

A Good Day for a Samsung Commercial

2014-02-25T13:53:00.000-08:00

It was a good day for a Samsung commercial at the Hercules Estate. The sophisticated mansion transformed into a canvas for the production of a professional commercial. Forty-five crew members collaborated, creating art at the Hercules Estate. The production flowed like a well-oiled machine. It felt seamless. The house lent itself with grace. The house was a character in this simple commercial.

The Hercules Estate offered the production company sweeping views of the entire city of Los Angeles from an impressive elevation. The viewpoint of multiple cameras took in the sprawling views from the mountainside, all from the comfortable living room couch, where their key actor sat. The daylight hours gifted the crew with the picture-perfect backdrop for an outstanding commercial.

The Hercules House was built to draw in creative minds. A blank canvas awaits. A promise for a dream fulfilled is here.

To book your film, television, commercial or photo shoot, you may view the website or reach out to me on twitter @alexdinovi for details!

SweetXO Aftermath

Last week, I attended a lovely event at SweetXO in El Segundo, hosted by MelrosePR. Each guest received gift cards to Anthropology and a pretty gift bag with presents from SweetXO. This was my first SweetXO experience and as you can see, I definitely enjoyed it! SweetXO is a unique glowing mix of a candy store, clothing store, toy store, and pet store all rolled into one!

SweetXO provides a pretty, girly world of fun presents for birthdays and all occasions. They have sweet treats including fro-yo and ice cream, copious candy and other rainbow-colored delicacies. I loved the "keep calm and have a cupcake" pillows. The abundance of sweet bath and body treats is amazing. I indulged in a bag of many different bath salts, scrubs and yummy fresh soaps.

I loved the bright lighting and upbeat music in SweetXO! The friendly staff was magnificent! I had two different guides assist my first SweetXO experience. I was definitely impressed and excited to try my new cupcake mixes, soaps, and other bath and body treats!

Love SweetXO!~!

PURSECASE: Adorable and Useful!!!

2014-02-12T15:33:00.000-08:00

Introducing pursecase — the petite clutch elegantly designed with just your smartphone and essentials in mind. Keep

your cards, ID, and cash all at your fingertips in the most fashionable way.

Have you seen PURSECASE yet? It must be the cutest Iphone accessory I have ever seen. Pursecase, featured on ABC's Sharktank is a protective case for your smart phone that is chic, sensible and utilitarian. You can easily carry your ID, cash, and credit cards with your phone in this cute little gem!

I love all the colors and it's quite affordable. Also, I love having my essentials-- my phone, my id, credit card and cash, at my fingertips. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to go out and not bring a purse and had to jam my iPhone in my pocket before hitting an event or private club in Hollywood. It's so much more fun to be fully present and focused on what's going on and have my hands free so I can have a long night of dancing and socializing. Besides, I can wear whatever I want and toss my pursecase accessory on as a bracelet! I don't have wear a particular outfit that offers pockets if I want to carry less baggage on my nights out in Hollywood. Pursecase goes with everything, from a dress to jeans.

STYLIN' & DIALIN' OMG! I love the cute little mirror for touch-ups!

Pursecase was designed by two gorgeous genius girls, Kelley Coughlan & Jenn Deese. These style experts are busy publicists who run Melrose PR and definitely don't have time to be shuffling around searching for their phones! They found a way to create a protective case for your phone that makes it easy to run errands with your tiny pursecase, or enjoy a fun night out without dragging a huge purse. It doubles as a bracelet so if you're out dancing, you have everything you need and you can have a lot more fun without carrying a purse!

Kelley and Jenn created the picture-perfect product to make life easier for fashionistas on-the-go. If you're running around doing errands, the purse case is such a cool way to carry everything without losing your phone in your gigantic bag.

I absolutely love Pursecase and will be using mine every day. I love the key clip for my keys as well! Pursecase is affordable, fashionable, and seriously saves the day or night!

Valentine's Day: Celebrating the Single Life

2014-02-04T21:17:00.000-08:00

It's almost Valentine's Day and for the many eligible, beautiful singles, it seems like a reminder of their "void." Is Valentine's Day just a "Hallmark Holiday," created to encourage consumerism in America? Why is society so focused on the need to link-up? Can't happy singles celebrate in creative ways, as well? Here are some offbeat Valentine's Day ideas to spark up a new tradition that doesn't revolve around your significant other, or lack thereof, for that matter.

Valentine's Day Girls' Night Out: Seeking Mr. Right Now
Create and design a sleek Evite by Postmark, or any other company of your choice and invite your favorite, upbeat girlfriends for a night out. Create an itinerary of sorts including restaurants or bars you'll make appearances at and goals for each girl. Write out their goals on pink index cards and mixing them up in a giant fishbowl, have your friends choose a card at the beginning of the night. Each card will give a girl an endeavor or goal for the night.

Ideas for sample index cards: "Find a tall, dark, handsome man before 9pm, make eye contact, smile and approach him. Compliment him."

"Buy a drink for a lucky man at the bar and have the bartender/server let the gentleman know the drink is from you."

"Make three people laugh tonight."

"Make a stranger smile."

"Get three phone numbers tonight."
Read the endeavors to each other so that you can encourage the adventures of the night!

Valentine's Day Girls' Night In: Relax, Reflect, Enjoy
Host a relaxing night of bliss with your girls at your house or one of theirs! Buy all of your favorite incense and/or candles, create a peaceful playlist, (even ocean waves) and purchase some different fresh facial masks. Invite a fortune-teller, or write your own secret fortunes for each friend. Create a party favor of cute, girly bags with pink ribbon, pink or red nail polish and/or lip color for your favorite friends. Bake adorable heart-shaped sugar cookies and play a favorite movie in the background.

Valentine's Day Tea Party
Host a dress-up themed brunch with your best gals. Your friends will be excited to dress to impress, share gossip, tea and cookies at your home or even a favorite hotel.

Valentine's Day Yoga Detox
Invite your best girls to power hot yoga class or outdoor yoga, or whichever yoga you aspire to try! After class discuss how you each feel different, more centered or gratitude. If possible, have this conversation in the steam room!

Valentine's Day Rebellion Potluck
Invite your friends to each invite one single friend to your singles' potluck. Each guest must bring a dish and a single friend. This is a great way to extend your social circle and recipe collection without spending time on pinterest or facebook.

These are some fun Valentine's Day activities you can enjoy with close friends, on or around Valentine's Day. Maybe they will inspire a new tradition.

Private Powder: The Ultimate Winter Vacation

2014-02-04T20:25:00.000-08:00

February is the perfect month for venturing to Big Sky, Montana, home of the perfect place for a private ski and snowboard haven. Yellowstone Club offers elite members, such as Bill Gates, an eventful, family-friendly environment and their trademark -- Private Powder.

The upscale club, often known as YC, creates perfect snow-topped mountains for picturesque skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. The club is home to an eclectic crowd, ranging from some of the world's most powerful people, to trust-fund kids and even celebrities such as Justin Timberlake. Just a few years ago, Timberlake proposed to Jessica Biel in this cozy, private resort.

The site hosts an enormous main lodge with a lively staff who seem to create a new theme, event, or showcase complete with song and dance each day. Besides ski lessons and theme parties, guests have the option to relax in the home theater. Strange spectacles entertain guests, like the random appearance of the larger-than-life-sized blowup champagne bottle gliding down the mountain as guests raise their hot cocoa and cheer with encouragement of the glowing staff.

The private mountain is home to many identical upscale log cabin castles with $30,000,000 price tags. The club is exclusive and caters only to members and guests of members, offering breathtaking views from an obscenely high elevation of nearly 10,000 feet. Club visitors can literally feel the Big Sky altitude at Yellowstone Club. They can also feel the understated, unique personality of the club. Although the demographic invites a particular economic stratosphere, YC is actually not an elitist place. It's an elysium of sorts where members engage each other and feel gratitude for their hidden retreat in the Rocky Mountains.

A Nontraditional Vacation in Hollywood Hills

2014-02-04T18:58:00.001-08:00

Ever desire an escape into the life of an elusive Hollywood star, just for a weekend? The Hercules Estate provides quiet enjoyment for many actors, writers, producers, NFL players, and Playboy models to inhale glorious views that resemble what Heaven should look like. The home was designed in a flawless flow that lets guests enter and feel as though they are gliding into a spaceship. Multitudinous times throughout the day, traffic stops at the sudden view of the exterior presence that truly looks like a giant ship from another time period, 100 years in the future, landed at the top of the hill.

When you enter the Hercules mansion, you are enveloped in peaceful upscale modern design. The estate seems to create its own language, its own uniquely refined energy. Secrets of elegance lie in every corner. As you enter the foyer, slightly draw back the lush maroon rug to discover a glass hole in the floor, offering a sneak peak to the winding wine cellar below.

Continue on, enjoy the high-ceilings, a full bar opposite a magnificently-shaped entertainment center, an astoundingly powerful blue refrigerator, a perfect dining area, and an inviting sitting room with open windows facing the sprawling hills and homes below, complete with an oversized half-donut royal purple couch that one could only read about in a Roald Dahl story or imagine in a German castle.

Make your way upstairs by elevator or sweeping staircase, the choice is yours. The elevator takes guests up in an instant to the comfortable bedrooms and of course the centerpiece of the estate, the master bedroom. The bedroom offers a fireplace ready to calm your senses at the flick of a switch. You can soak up the universe as you lie in bed since the entire room is framed in moveable glass, complete with a balcony outlining the upstairs overlooking the enormous infinity pool and entire world of the Hollywood Hills. At night, the view is like looking at a never-ending field of diamonds. Your shower with built-in steam room perfectly lends itself to the outdoor walkway, so that when you awake, you can stretch out into your terrace, looking down on the land as king of the universe. The master closet seems to go on for days, complete with a secret passageway into the master intelligence and sound system of the estate.

Are you ready to escape the world? The Hercules Estate can inspire your inner artist, awaken your senses and feed the soul. There is much to discover on the property...even a beautiful, lush pond. It's a place where a story could be told, films have been shot, and for the exclusive, fortunate adventurer, a private, impressive sanctuary awaits.

I love TALON REID!

2013-12-10T00:31:00.002-08:00

Hey World,

SO much going on in the DiNovi World...I'm in law school finals...I'm busy...I did well on midterms and on my legal writing final...thank God.

Anyway, I want to post about one of my favorite Hollywood Actor/Models...TALON REID. He is so talented and we've been friends since 2011. We met through our mutual actor friend, Shane West. (A Walk To Remember). Talon and I caught each others' eye at Shane West's 4th of July party in 2011 and we've been close friends ever since. We have a lot in common. We are both tenacious, and literally will not let anyone or anything get in our way. We are both out of control. What we say= GOES. We don't care what anyone thinks of us. We do what we like. We wear what we like. We make the rules.

Talon and I were born in the Midwest. We both moved to LA at a very young (just out of high school!!!) age. Talon dropped out of college after a short time...I left University of Illinois Urbana Champaign..or you could say I DROPPED OUT to move to LA, pursue acting and I graduated from Loyola Marymount.

We both live in gorgeous houses in the Hollywood Hills.

Talon and I have worked together a lot from 2011-2012-2013 and we have a lot to look forward to in 2014...

I LOVE TALON REID!!!

Peace & Love.

Alex

Hey World,
I have not forgotten about you. I have been QUITE busy. I have a lot going on so I'm not sure where to begin.

Love, it's here.

Family...amazing.

My birthday was rad, thanks to all of my posse. We had THREE birthday parties in LA.

I do miss my Hinsdale friends and family. I do NOT miss your weather but I will be back over the Christmas Holiday to spend quality time with the family and I have a written work to showcase.

I wrote an edgy, philosophical piece. I'll share it soon. It's being published in 2014. In the meantime, I'm a full-time law student and was offered a very cool role on a fresh TV show....so that's just a little sneak peek of what I have on my plate.

Other than work, I've been traveling on weekends with my life partner and spending a lot of quality time with him at my house and his house.

PEACE, LOVE.

Every West Coast Girl Should Own Great Cowboy Boots

2013-07-26T07:51:00.000-07:00

Hey World,

I just bought these new beautiful FRYE boots. OMG. No joke, they were shipped in from HAWAII (overnighted on Tuesday) and I received them yesterday (Thursday). They are super special because they were the last pair in the entire company in my size and the lovely sales associates found them for me, at a store in Hawaii. I will forever wear them with grace and nostalgia for my beautiful vacations in the great state of Hawaii. I love Hawaii. Once when I was in Hawaii, my dad taught me, "La Luna Splendeva Sul Mare." (His version of: The moon shines beautifully on the sea). I will never forget that memory in Maui.

Every West Coast girl should own great cowboy boots. You have to rock the Western look...and what about those daring nights you find yourself showing off your moves on the bull at Saddle Ranch? You need very classy, well-made, good-looking cowboy boots.
XO,
Alex

Welcome to Childhood Summers in Chicago, JULY 2013!

2013-07-12T08:39:00.002-07:00

Hey World,

I'm so loving July in Chicago. It's humid but you can't beat the Chicago food and Chicago people. I'm still working on my book and taking a law school class at Chicago-Kent.

I grew up in a perfect suburb, about 30 minutes from Chicago. This fairy tale land is called HINSDALE.

I spent some of the greatest childhood memories playing soccer, softball, violin, and dancing in multiple dance companies in Hinsdale. God, I love Hinsdale. I hold a special place in my heart for my hometown. It was safe growing up and we could bike ride all day and night after school if we finished our homework. My parents bought, knocked down and built a gorgeous Frank Lloyd Wright-style house in The Woodlands. The Woodlands is such a great part of Hinsdale because of the spacious lots, numerous parks, tennis courts, and trees for miles. My father planted these king-sized trees in front of our house that grew to such an absurd but magnificent stature by the time I was 18 and left for college. Wow. Those trees created a secret path in the front yard, strewn with a wood chip trail, that my grandparents would obsess over combing through to destroy any and all weeds or unwanted plants. It was our own forest in the front yard.

Across the street from our home was The Park. This park stretched on for almost four blocks. Our parents loved the privacy; while my brother and I loved the option to play "500" with our Nerf footballs, flashlight tag, water balloon fights, and Ghost in the Graveyard. It was our private park...so much that we felt entitled to create our own treehouse there one young summer. That was when I learned the extent of my dad's handyman skills. He scooped up a few pieces of wood, hammered them into "our" tree across the street and my brother and I would climb up into our own little canopy of imagination.

We would create make-believe games with our friends in Hinsdale that only made sense to us. Of course I was the Princess and my brother was Super Mario and we were flying because we had pixie dust that we found from the good fairies, the twins, our backyard neighbors, Christina & Erica. The magic all made sense to us. We created our own reality.

Wasn't childhood an epic era? I love to look back fondly and remember how many times I rode my bike, fell out of a tree or rollerblading, and scraped my knee in the exact same spot one summer. That scar is still on my right knee and I love it. It reminds me of how adventurous I am...how I never stop exploring.

Love,
Alex

Happy Summer

2013-06-06T08:46:00.002-07:00

Hey World,

I hope everyone is enjoying a productive summer. I love summer. I love that it's always summer in LA. Chicago and New York have interesting summers. I've spent a lot of time in both cities and although it's humid in Chicago, New York has areas that take humidity to a whole new level...of course, I'm excluding nearby east coast treasures like Cape Cod and my absolute favorite hidden gem -- my beach house in New Brunswick.

Canada is so beautiful. I've spent many gorgeous summers at my beach house in New Brunswick, Canada. That's actually how I first learned French when I was a little girl. In fact, I had my first kiss, under the stars, at the beach in our backyard.

I often don't wear makeup.

~~ beachy Cali princess ~~

When I think about summer, of course I think about Canada, our beach house, charming French Canadian boys, and boating. My favorite thing to do as a kid was boating and jumping off the boats to go swimming in the ocean.

It's so easy to fall in love in French Canada.

~ ~ ~

I wrote many songs on that beach. I used to walk outside to our backyard and after spending the day running and swimming, I would escape to this secret peninsula that was almost dream-like. Of course, I'm part mermaid, so I would relax to the sound of the waves and write music.

Anyway, my childhood was certainly glowing. I have so much gratitude for my life.

I'm thankful for my Hinsdale family, my LA family, and all of my close friends in LA, Chicago, New York, and Arizona.

Arizona is an entire three chapters in the book I'm presently writing -- maybe more. Arizona is my secret escape from LA. It's my peaceful fun place and I actually love summers in Arizona. I love when it's 100 degrees outside and if you feel adventurous, you can sweat it out with a "dangerously short" hike in the canyons, or an intensely fast sprint and then dive into the pool. Arizona is spiritual. Also, one of my favorite hotels -- The Princess Hotel in Scottsdale -- is Heaven in the summer. You'll have to read my book to understand all of this...

Peace and Love,

~ Alexandra

Ruby Sparks: One of the Best Movies I've ever seen in my life...

2013-03-22T09:53:00.001-07:00

Dear World,

I hope everyone is enjoying a productive quarter. I watched RUBY SPARKS on an airplane last weekend. WOW. Afterward, I rented it and watched it two more times. It's one of the best movies I've seen in my life. Ruby Sparks is brilliant.

Ruby Sparks is the most moving independent film of 2012. In fact, it's precisely my style. Sparks unfolds an incredible story about love, loneliness, and trying to control love. It completely resonates. Zoe Kazan and Paul Dano light up the screen. They share numerous memorable moments that will give audiences chills. They serve it up and make you think. An acting friend of mine, Toni Trucks, plays a supporting role -- the sister-in-law to Paul Dano's character.

The gorgeous music in this film complements the artistry. The flow of the story is easy to fall into as Kazan takes you on a beautiful and imaginative ride through love and life in Los Angeles. This Yale grad was born to write screenplays.

Please enjoy the genius work of Zoe Kazan. Zoe is my new role model. I adore her.

Warmly,
Alex D.

Hey World,

I love escaping the world in Carpinteria. It's a peaceful place to write, do yoga, surf and read. I had such a productive January and February was a lot of fun. I'm wishing you all a peaceful and productive 2013. The first quarter has been good to me. I'm ready to head back to LA. I'll be stopping in San Diego and spending some quality time in Newport with friends soon.

Alexandra DiNovi on set with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn

Alexandra DiNovi on set with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn

February 8, 2013, Posted by Matt Schwerha, Chicago Sun-Times

It’s not every day that dancing at a restaurant leads to a job in show business.

But that was the case for Alexandra DiNovi — a Hinsdale native — who was approached about a dancer role for a movie set in Chicago while still in high school.

“He said, ‘I think you’d be great for this dancer role in this movie,’” DiNovi, 23, said. “I thought he was joking. He then asked what I did. I said I wanted to be a lawyer, but I really wanted to be in the movies.”

A week later, DiNovi was on set of “The Break-Up” dancing with Vince Vaughn.

“It was crazy,” DiNovi said. “It was really surreal. Some scenes got deleted and I didn’t have a speaking role. I got asked to do the strip poker scene and I said no.”

Before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her entertainment career, some of DiNovi’s favorite activities in Hinsdale included Hinsdale Central football games and dining at Jade Dragon.

“[Jade Dragon] is a really good Asian place,” said DiNovi, who was the captain of the poms team in high school. “One of my favorite Hinsdale spots. Really good food.”

While growing up, DiNovi took to the arts because of her father.

“My dad is so creative,” DiNovi said. “He’s a storyteller. My dad would always make up stories and tell them at night and come up with a whole fairytale of a story he would weave.”

After her performance in “The Break-Up,” DiNovi has appeared in a number of television series and starred in multiple shorts.

She points to winning Best Actress in a Short Film for “Purity” at the New York International Film Festival in 2010 as being the breaking point in her career.

“It changed everything for me in LA,” DiNovi said. “I felt like I was part of the young Hollywood world. I was getting invited to all kinds of interesting events, films and premieres.”

DiNovi is excited about her upcoming opportunities.

“There’s a film shooting in West Hollywood this summer,” DiNovi said. “I’m in talks with the writer. I fell in love with the character. It’s something that’s never been done before. It’s a view of Hollywood that only a cab driver could have.”

In addition to acting, DiNovi plans to explore her writing more thoroughly.

“I’m writing a book,” DiNovi said. “Over the summer, I had 263,000 hits on my blog in one day. I thought I should publish some of my writing. It will be notes on love in LA, New York and Chicago.”

To be closer to her family, DiNovi now splits time between her places in Chicago and West Hollywood.

“I miss my family and spending quality time,” DiNovi said. “When I first moved to LA, I would only come home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s nice to see some people.”

DiNovi attributes much of her success to the Beverly Hills Playhouse and Allen Barton.

“It’s a place where working actors can go and truly help each other,” DiNovi said. “Los Angeles has been really kind to me. That is a place where I feel really comfortable.”

In addition to show business, DiNovi — a graduate of Loyola Marymount — said her dream of being a lawyer like her father might still be in the cards.

“I’m considering going to law school,” DiNovi said. “I’m looking at a school in Chicago.”

And what about her work in the industry?

“One movie or project a year,” DiNovi said.
