Bam, sucka! Colour this comic completed.  I still haven’t found the time to pick up some new ink, so it’s still pen-tastic. The funny thing about this page is that it’s content takes up about 4 sentences on the script I’m working off of. Ha! Oh, visual pacing…

Brendan posted his half of the deal earlier tonight, which you can read here if you haven’t already. He reads more webcomics than I once thought possible for a human being to read. Something’s wrong with that boy.

ANDERS LOVES MARIA: A lovely little comic from my favorite person from Sweden who’s name is Rene and updates a webcomic. A very touching and hilarious look at relationships and so on. Its nearing the end of its run, so expect me to start wailing in despair in a few months. Lots of nudity and swears, if you’re offended by that kind of thing.

BIGGER THAN CHEESES: A comic I’ve been reading since my highschool days, gloriously irrevelent and offensive. Makes me giggle fairly often.

DAR: Lesbian comics filled with boobs and farting. Only now she’s married so NO MORE LOVE ERIKA! NO MORE LOVE.

GASTROPHOBIA: A hilarious romp through ancient greek mythology about an Amazon woman and her son and their endentured kleptomaniac man-servent. Good times to be had by all. Also the title makes me think of people scared by poop. Teehee!

HARK! A VAGRANT: Possibly my favvy Canadian cartoonist of the moment. History comics that are both hilarious and brilliant and adorable and OMG GUYS NAPOLEAN EATING COOKIES!

KINKOFRY: Possibly the most adorable comic ever, aside from ours, of course.

NEDROID: The adventures of Reginald and Beartato and their friends. Possibly the most insane thing ever created. So much love I don’t even know.

OVERCOMPENSATING: The true life tales of a billionaire cowboy poet. If you haven’t read this, then you are a fool!

SAM AND FUZZY: Seriously you guys, this is the shit. It started off as a weekly college newspaper strip full of wackiness and slliness, and over the years it’s evolved into… seriously one of the best comics on the internet. I love it so hard. Also: Sam Logan? Nicest guy ever. Just saying.

SATURDAY MORNING BREAKFAST CEREAL: One of the most horrible things ever and I love it so much. Now he’s doing sketch comedy and it fills me with joy. Also: His last name is Weiner.

SCARY GO ROUND: Started off as a horror spin off to Bobbins, his old strip, and now it’s… well, something both awesome and amazing. Possibly the most indie thing ever made.

SKIN HORSE: The tale of a super intelligent Dog, a transvestite ladies man psychologist, and a zombie all working for the government. Drawn by the lady behind Narbonic, one of my fav webcomics ever.

SOMETHING POSITIVE: The first webcomic I ever read, and the one that got me to stay in this cesspool of comedy and cartoons. It’s my little baby I never gave birth to, but one I steal nightly and cradle in my loving arms. Okay, that went to a weird place.

Anyway, there’s some comics to tide you over until… well, probably a few years from now. Love you all!

You might notice that todays comic looks a bit different from my normal style. I usually use a brush and ink, but my ink jar basically glued itself shut. Fortunatly I got a nice shiney new set of Microns for my birthday to fall back on, but I’m still not as comfortable with them as I am with a brush and I think it shows. Still I got this comic done in record time, I guess drawing constantly over the last month has it’s upsides. Ha!

Sorry. Anyway, HI! I’m Brendan, the guy that puts the words in the bubbles up there (actually Brinny does that too, but I make the words she puts in there) and Brinny was kind of swamped with school this week and didn’t get a comic done in time, something she will be punished for. In any case, I thought to fill in this disgraceful hole in our history log archive thing with a little FAQ for questions that were never asked, let alone frequently. I’m gonna be saying story stuff that probably hasn’t been established yet, but no spoilers, just backstory stuff.

Q1: So, what. Is Jacob the only alien or what?

Yes! Yes he is, as far as we know. In my head, what happened was his egg pod thing was being transported on a ship out in space somewhere, and an asteroid ran into it, causing it to explode a little bit. His pod survived and was sent hurtling through the cold depths of space. It crashed onto a small farm owned by the Kent family, and he was quickly taken in by the government. No other alien has been contacted, or even detected.

Q2: How old is Jacob? What’s with his physiology?

Jacob is 34. He grows at about the same rate as a human, and so is about equal in his growth to a man of the same age. People don’t know if his… uh, obliviousness is genetic or just because he was kept in isolation for the first thirty four years of his life.  At first it was just to make sure he wasn’t carrying any diseases or contagions or something, and from then to protect him due to his celebrity status, to try and keep him from becoming something akin to a sideshow attraction.  By the time he was an adult, it had just become habit, and in any case Jacob’s handlers were far too nervous to become open to the world, terrified that somehow people might hurt Jacob. Now of course, nobody gives a rats ass because the money has dried up.

Q3: What’s with the money thing?

Okay, my thought process went like this: How long would the US government, in the middle of a financial crisis, be willing to pay for a young man, alien or not, to simply live with full benefits for no real payback and no public support.  With cost cutting measures flying through congress, I think taking the money from a whole branch of government that only exists to facilitate one living thing seems like a logical choice. The only problem is that now one of the most well known people on the planet is now essentially unemployed.

Q4: Are these the only characters we’ll be getting?

Oh lord no. You haven’t even met most of the main cast. I figure we’re about 20 pages in, and the story itself will be about 150-200 or so. Wow, that’s a lot. Anyway, this is just the first act and starting on the next page we start on the second act and what I see as the second part.  This is all set up so far, and from there things get a bit more active from here on out. Dr. San will show up several times more throughout the story, as will the General and, of course, Mr. Purr. Soon you’ll meet the others who’ll make up the rest of this bitter little charade.

Welcome to all our new readers who’ve discovered our quaint little comic via our new Project Wonderful ads! I can tell they’re working because we got a massive influx of spam! Excellent! 

I’ve been having internet issues, in that I don’t have any at the moment. Hopefully updating doesn’t suffer because of it and it’s all fixed very very soon. I’ll shoot you guys an update if things go otherwise.

By the time this comic is up I’ll be only a day away from starting my second year at university. How crazy is that? Since I’m using the time machine that is the internet here, as things are now I’m trying my best to create a backlog of comics for the months ahead. But all in all school is going to be my main priority, so if things don’t go as planned there may be some schedule mishaps, just a prewarning.
