An overlooked feature on the website is the “print this article” link. There are many people who use the Internet who still like to print out useful articles and store them in paper form. In order to pull this off, you need to use CSS/XHTML page breaks.

David Walsh has some excellent code that shows the CSS that is needed to make effective page breaks in printing pages.

Changing the appearance of your website based on the time of day is not only a fun way to add depth to your design, it’s also a way to personalize the visitor’s experience. So far there are two ways to accomplish it with CSS: By javascript or PHP (or some other dynamic language).

Both approaches essentially do the same thing, with a few small differences. By using javascript you can use the visitor’s time to display the appropriate stylesheet. (If you want to use your server’s time, use the PHP version).

Here’s the javascript code from katgal that changes the stylesheet every 3-4 hours, based on the user’s time.

The structure of a WordPress theme is fairly simple, I like to start with the CSS file. It details everything about the theme for WordPress to use. You then have index.php, it’s simply the template file your using with the PHP template tags included, included with that is header.php & footer.php, files that are used across the whole site. Now most themes don’t use just four files and that’s because WordPress allows you to use template files to layout different content. There are the defined layout files, such as archives.php and single.php. However you can also create your own, say, if you wanted to make a page that had a totally different layout to the default.

Because this is such a large topic we’re splitting it into a two part series, this part making a simple but functioning theme from a standard HTML & CSS template, and the second part will look at add more of the advanced parts, such as sidebars.

I will be working on turning the great template “Typography Paramount” by Six Shooter Media into a simple WordPress theme.

But once I am back this pace would be ready to serve.!

Well, it has been months not weeks, since I started on giving shape to this site. But it has always been going through changes and revisions. BUt now , no more of it!

If god wills. The site will be live very soon, within this week. As I am all free, and ready to do the last touch ups for its release.

So, lets just wait and see how much more time and efforts it will demand, to get to life !

After much hardwork round the clock for days and weeks together, I am atlast near the release of my 1st Blog + portfolio called Alitimate.com .
