All,

Coach Maya wants to fence on Friday evening (I think around 6:30PM).
If anyone is interested in getting some open fencing time in, please

Also, Coach Sam may be opening up the fencing room on Fourth Friday
(next is January 27, 2012) for open fencing as well.

Lastly, don't forget about an intramural foil and epee (teen and
adult) tournament on January 28, 2012, starting at 10PM.

All calendar items in red are ones that the coaches will be attending
or we are hosting. Other items on the calendar are other tournaments
throughout the state of North Carolina. There are also tournaments in
South Carolina and Virginia and they are listed on askfred.net if you
are interested. Please mark your calendars for events you plan on
participating in! I'll put All-American Events on askfred.net soon!

Parents and Fencers: During fencing classes, there are yoga classes
downstairs. Please do not let children play or go downstairs for
water without supervision. Some youth have been interrupting the yoga
classes downstairs. If they are going downstairs for water, please
get water and come back up.

A scrimmage with Apex Fencing Academy has been scheduled. This is
coming up soon, so I wanted to get it in your hands as soon as
possible. Pre-Registration is now available online at

Events:
> Y12/Y14 Mixed foil probable start time 9:30am (Y12: Born between 1999-2002, Y14: Born between 1997-2000)
> +13 Mixed foil probable start time 12:00pm (Born 1998 or earlier)
> +13 Mixed epee start time to 9:30am (Born 1998 or earlier)

There will be pizza for all fencers and medals for top 4 in each age
category including Y12.
Registration fee will be $16 ("open gym fee" of $6 at the front desk
when we get there. The $10 is the actual registration fee paid to Apex
Fencing Academy.)

There will also be a liability form that will need to be sigend, for
parents to fill it out for the minors.

Location is 123 Middle Creek Park Ave. Cary, NC. Mark your calendars!
Morning fencers, we will be leaving 8AM from All-American Fencing
Academy if you would like to car pool with us. Afternoon fencers, if
you would like to try to set up a carpool, let me know.

Happy New Year! Welcome to a new year of fencing! I'll have the
competition schedule out soon. It's good to see everyone again!

Fencer Reminders:

1. The All-American Fencing Academy has an emergency "text messaging
phone tree". When we have emergency news that needs go out (like
closing due to inclement weather, change in times, etc.) we send the
emergency news out by e-mail (mailing list), the website and through
our Facebook (facebook.com/allamericanfencingacademy) and Twitter
(twitter.com/aafencing). Please follow the All-American Fencing
Academy on Twitter (Get updates via SMS by texting follow aafencing to
40404) or on Facebook (www.facebook.com/allamericanfencingacademy)

2. If you haven't saved our phone number yet, make sure you have it
handy. The All-American Fencing Academy phone number is 910-644-0137
(that number will ring the school line and Gerhard's cell). If you're
trying to reach the school directly, you can dial 910-423-2232.

3. SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY! Inside the fencing school and outside the
fencing school. You know our safety rules while fencing, but make
sure if you're parking across the street (next to the Cotton Exchange)
or around the corner, be aware of your surroundings and if you're
walking alone, ask someone in the school to walk down with you.

4. Thanks for support! Remember to submit your monthly member fees
as timely as you can. If you have any recommendations to make the
school better, let us know!
