Product Review of Vanish Stain Remover for Clothes

I have read and watched a lot of advertisement about Vanish Oxi Action. It seems magical to me but I was not tempted to buy because I was so bored by exaggerating claims.

One day, I discovered that my mother was using both Vanish Oxi Action Powder and Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White Powder. She is quite satisfied with the stain removal results.

My baby girl’s cute white jacket was stained by fresh apple juice. The stain became like “rusting” on her cute jacket. At first, I soaked her jacket with baby laundry detergent, which has stain removal property, because I do not want to use any laundry that may irritate her skin. After 1 hour according to the laundry direction, the stain just stayed there. I washed jacket again in washing machine and nothing improved.

Then I remembered Vanish Oxi Action and I bought a bottle of Vanish Pre-treatment Spray.

Vanish Pre-treatment Spray

What it claims:

“It’s a powerful formula which penetrates deep into the fibres to break down even the toughest stains like the grime and grease you get on collars and cuffs. It is suitable for both coloured and white clothes.”

I did what the direction told. Spray on the apple juice stain and wait for 5 minutes before washing. I was very disappointed because the stain was still there. I thought it was a waste of money. So, I tried to extend the pre-treatment time from 5 minutes to around 20 minutes. But, it still did not work.

Now, I use it for minor food stain pre-treatment. The food stains go away after washing in washing machine. So, I think this pre-treatment spray is only powerful enough for minor stains.

Vanish Oxi Action Powder

What it claims:

“Vanish Oxi Action Powder contains Oxi Powerlift which removes all types of stains, from the ones you can clearly see to the tougher ones that may be hidden. Vanish Oxi Action Powder is safe to use on both coloured and white clothing.”

I used this product on my baby girl’s jacket. The apple juice stain had been there for around 2 weeks. I soak the jacket for around 1 hour and washed. I was quite disappointed at this point because the stain did not go away. Then I plan to give up. But, I think, there are still a lot of chances that apple juice may stain my girl’s clothes. I cannot tolerate to see juice spots on all her clothes. I must find a way to remove such stain. Then I remembered that my mom actually soaked her clothes for a whole night. I soaked the jacket for a whole night. I am really amazed by its cleaning power on set-in stain. The stain was removed without washing in the washing machine. I was so happy.

My concern on the powder is that it may irritate my baby’s skin. So, I rinse the jacket thoroughly before washing it in the washing machine. Besides, I am afraid the fabric may be damaged because of the long soaking time. But, I just cannot feel any difference in fabric by hand.
