The Davaoeños have spoken and gave their unending support to this once a year celebration of beauty, colorful dresses, native dances, different tribes, good harvest of fruits, vegetables and flowers and our Mayor; the pride of Davao, together took part for the said week-long event.

We our known for these things and many were excited to actually join this glamorous occasion, the first timers were pretty much delighted to bond with the indak-indak sa dalan contestants as they have wave,  hop, dance, shown their unseen dance steps together with their interminable-indigenous music.

Lots of people from outside of Davao City, came from different part of the Philippines have arrived just to witness the fruitful happenings here and even foreigners grabbed their support too.

Brief History of Crocodile Park:

The fascination of Mr. Philip Dizon to salt water and fresh water crocodile leads to a business not until 10 years after going to United States, he learned that crocodiles are not only for public viewing but also for the production of leather business. It was on November 1995,  when Dizon received the permit and the accreditation from the government to operate. With the help of Dr. Gilbert Buenviaje as a consultant, the first Crocodile Park in Davao was open on August 18, 2006.

What to expect at the Park?

• The ever famous ‘Pangil’ which is the oldest crocodile in the park, for more than 60 yrs. old now, and the largest one which stands 18 feet long. It has its own big cage and pond exclusively for him to swim along, which attract visitors and crowd.

The park comes with different sizes of crocs from lizard type to the biggest one, they have nursery for the baby crocodiles too and every kinds and sizes that you could imagine, they have feeding time for crocs which allows the visitors too. There are also the presence of other exotic animal species like raptors, monkeys, bear cats, snakes, birds, tigers and lots of species of animals will be found, and it’s all in this big park for every families and friends for them to enjoy!

for a fun start they have bird shows  for kids and for everyone with a kid at heart.

crocodile dancing- this would show the leaping strategy of the crocodile to eat the meat while doing so, the crocodile is making it up like dancing when he tries to reach the meat through his mighty tail. Salt water crocs could leap up until 6 feet high.

• Butterfly house- Who can’t love butterflies? they are beautifully combined with its colorful wings and quiet in nature that would attract people of all ages. Know where and how they originate from egg, larva, pupa till adult.
• Tribu K Mindanawan-  “Empowering the Filipino Culture Enriching the Heritage” is the main aim of the group; is a cultural village that showcases the richness of the Indigenous People in Mindanao. Watch their live performance every weekend, a cultural dance  plus a  fire show which showcases different dances and tribal music of Mindanao; and be amaze with their colorful costumes and dance steps, not just it give the kids a little look back from the past of our Indigenous People’s rich cultures but it gives them the real facts and encounters with how they were before. Take a little stroll around under the tall  bamboo trees and feel the coldness of the air while  hearing the sound of the river and take a picture with their real IP’s hand made houses attached with names and descriptions for you to know and an IP statue outside every houses.

For tourists and bakasyonistas don’t worry they have good shop that sells souvenir items for you.

SOS Children’s Villages is an international non-governmental social development, non-political, non-denominational organization providing a long-term family-based care and education to children in need. It has been active in the field of children’s rights and committed to children’s needs and concerns since 1949. In 132 countries and territories, SOS’ activities focus on children without parental care and children of families in difficult circumstances.

A fundraising project entitled  “Liwanag sa Dilim: Concert for A Cause” was created to effectively spread the cause of SOS Children’s Village as well as to raise funds for the said institution due to the reports that the number of the children currently seeking care and shelter already exceeds the healthy number that SOS can support. This project is a one-night concert featuring an award winning Filipino band, Rivermaya. Also performing in this night’s event are Davao-based artists: Jad Montenegro, The Baby Boomers Band and Lem Manalo.

Are you craving for large size pizza and want to try a new and exciting taste?

You are actually in the right place, Calda pizza is the newest pizza parlor in the city today.

It’s open during mall hours until 11pm…whooahhh!!! it is…

I’ve visited there twice, one time when me and my office-mates have decided to celebrate our anniversary and another was, when my friend treat us after a stroll at the mall.

Of course, CALDA is famous for their 36 inches in diameter pizza… so, we all have agreed to try it then. It’s an epic undertaking, we know – but it has to be done. If you’ve ever watched Man Vs. Food or seen an eating competition, you’ll know that a meal this big is a challenge to those who are of the mindset that takes them to hot-dog eating competitions or www.poker.de tournaments. Here’s some advice, though: take some friends!

It was really, really big! One of my office-mate says, it looks like a four-sitter round table, lol.. and we all laugh!

It is, I could hardly believe it first, but we are amazed by its size… it’s totally wide, huge etc… whatever adjectives you may want to describe it.

We have ordered QUATTRO STAGIONE, xtrasuper with 96 slices, having 4 kinds of toppings; Bolognese, Hawaian, Etna & Calda for onlyP1290 good for 13-15 persons but it depends also to there appetite. If you will divide 96 slices to 15 people you will 6 slices of pizza each, not bad after all.

Just a tip: Be sure to invite your whole barkadas with you if you want to try their extra-super size thing, you might forgot that you have a lot of it in your hands.

Participants are enjoined to accomplish registration form indicating the specific event he/she intends to join not later than an hour before the start of all the events on August 14, 2010.

Entries shall be admitted officially upon payment of Entry Fee amounting to P400.00 each participant.

Entry Fee shall cover Souvenir Jersey, Certificate of Participation, Event ID, Dinner, Raffle stub and the privilege to join all the games he/she intends to join.

All participants are required to execute a Waiver.

VII. Prizes

Total of 30,000.00 worth of Prizes are at stake.

VIII. Awarding Ceremony

Awarding Ceremony will be held an hour after the last event of the 2nd Day (August 15, 2010).
