Snakes, frogs, turtles, and lizards are the most common types of reptile pets that you will find in today's pet stores. Prices for such exotic pets are usually a little bit more depending on what species and type of breed you are looking for.
Snakes are probably the most common reptile pets that people own today. While most people are frightened by them, others find them fascinating to watch. Most snakes that people own are the non-poisonous type. Usually they are constrictor type. Constrictor breeds usually kill their prey by suffocating them. Squeezing their prey until it crushes everything inside.
Snakes are more popular than any other reptile pet due to the fact that they are quite easy to care for. All they require is a clean aquarium with a heat rock or artificial sun light and a nice little cubby hole for them to hide in when they do not want to be disturbed. Most hatchlings will start off with frozen baby mice to eat. You have to thaw them before feeding them to the snake first. As they get older you will want to start feeding them live mice or rats depending on how big the snake gets.
Next in line are the lizards. While there are many type of lizards to choose from most people will either choose the green iguana or terrapin lizards. The green iguana is relatively calm and docile when raised in captivity. They usually grow between two to three feet long depending how big their environment is and their diet. Their diet may consist of a protein supplement and a variety of different vegetables and fruits.
The terrapin lizards are quite small in nature and are most favored by parents who do not want their child to have a snake or iguana. Their diet consists of insects and a protein supplement as well. Most children like them because they are small enough for them to handle and care for. They also change colors depending on how hot or cold their environment is.
If you are going to purchase a reptile for a pet, make sure you read up on the proper care and maintenance before purchasing the pet. Always ask a professional or expert for advice and tips on how to care for your pet, and make sure you have a vet thoroughly check the reptile for any illness or diseases before purchasing as well. This could save you from having to spend more money than you would want on a sick pet.

About the Author
Find more about Bath Toys Online at http://www.toysbath.com Find more about kid Toys at http://www.reviewtoy.com

How Do Anaconda Snakes Sexually Reproduce: Explained!

by Joe Maldonado

An important feature of a living organism is that it breeds. It gives birth to young ones like itself. Because of this, they protect themselves from extinction and breed from one era to the next.
Most believe that since an anaconda is a reptile, it lays eggs. That is it. But that is not the case with the anacondas. Unlike most of the egg-laying reptiles, an anaconda is a viviparous reptile. It gives birth to live offspring. It breeds heavily and at one go can give birth to two to three dozen young ones or even more at a time.
Like all snakes, anacondas reproduce sexually. The courtship between the male and the female anacondas lasts for more than two months that usually starts during the months of April and May. After the completion of the courtship the fertilization of the eggs occurs within the body of the female anaconda.
Courting and mating of anacondas occurs in the water. To lure the males, the female lays down a trail of pheromone or releases a kind of a stimulant in the air. In this manner the female attracts the males towards her. During the breeding process, twelve males group together with one female in a kind of a sphere, known as a breeding ball.
When observed from afar, the breeding ball moves all the time like a huge leather ball that is being pushed and pumped. Actually, what is happening is that, each male fight with the other males so as to mate with the female. This slow motion fight amongst the males can last from two to four weeks. This depends on the female as she is the larger and stronger of all the anacondas in that breeding group.
To arouse and mate with the female, the males use their spurs. During mating, they press their cloacal parts aggressively against the body of the female. In the meantime, they continuously make use of their spurs to scratch the female. The climax of their copulation occurs when the female raises her cloacal part, hence allowing the cloacae of the two to move together. After mating, the female is pregnant for 6 months.
After 6 months, the female gives birth to live anacondas. The female loses almost half her weight post-pregnancy. The new-born anacondas are called neonates. At birth they are 70-80 cm but they grow rapidly. They become sexually matured within the first few years, following which their growth slows down.
Reality being, this fascinating reptile can now be seen on zoos and even on animal centers in some parts of our world. For some countries is just another exotic pet if you watch many of the online pictures. Even clueless children at some countries play with such young anacondas in South America.
However, do let me remind you that there is a wide difference between a Hollywood snakes across Jennifer Lopez beautiful portrayed Hollywood body, and the realistic views of an anaconda snake at close encounter, right? Be sure to keep doing your diligence in such a wonderful creature, you may love what you see on popular websites online.

About the Author
Warning: The video and content in our Anacondas section is for educational purposes and for exotic pet dilligence, however, not for everyone to indulge. The oversight could confirm financially devastating and emotionally heartbreaking.
The detriment of veterinary expense is on the bank. Technology, liability cross, medications, and remedial study have enforced veterinary clinics to elevate their rate. Veterinary clinics in rural areas of the country (especially ones that intermix their small animal repeat with a large animal observe) find it tough to attract fresh vets who are graduating from vet instruct to their clinics; they are enforced to propose superior salaries to compete with clinics located closer to foremost cities. The intensify in the payroll is then transferred to pet owners.
It was just estimated that the standard dog landlord will exhaust about two hundred dollars a year at the vet's work. Cats were a little cheaper; their owners only depleted about a hundred and sixty dollars in veterinary bills. When you think what the common life expectancy is for a pet, especially on reserved inside, that's a lot of money. And what if the pet isn't your run of the refine dog or cat? What if the pet is something more exotic like a pot bellied pig, a search, a rabbit, a snake, or even a brute? The more exotic the pet the more, the pet possessor is likely to spend on the veterinarian bills, especially if they have a pet such as a monster which will doubtless oblige a vet with elite skills. What happens to the pet if it swiftly gets sick or is injured in a freak accident? How much will it set the pet vendor back if they have to take their family pet to a university's veterinary drill, will they be able to give it or will they be forced to euthanize their pet for lucrative reasons?
Many pet owners try to keep the unexpected veterinary bills at bay by providing admirable worry for their pets. They make constant that the pet is reserved well groomed to check insects and skin disorders. They only supply their pets foods that are very sensibly balanced with a good combine of nutrients. They make constant the pet maintains a healthful emphasis, not to dilute and not to fat. Some pet owners won't let their pets out of the house, fearing a freak accident. While pet owners should take the best trouble of their pets and do everything in their right to keep their family pet anodyne, even the most cautious, fitness conscious pet owner cannot preclude everything.
Pet wellbeing assurance is one way to prevent veterinarian bills from proper overwhelming. Pet vigor indemnity is assurance pet owners hold to help cover veterinarian bills related to be medical insurance. The odds of a pet owner being able to asset a pet shape charge at the same vigor insurance circle where they goods their soul health insurance is slim. Most pet owners will find that they have to go to a divide insurance troupe that specializes in pet health insurance.

About the Author
For tips on asiatic lions and lion speed, visit the Lion Facts website.

The Different Health Benefits Of Owning A Frog

by Joan Shine

It's often confirmed that dogs are a man's best ally. However, that also rings correct for many pet animals, plus cats, fish, birds, and exotic animals. Just as all these pets proposal companionship to their owners, beloved animals also bestow a significant capacity for fitness profit to their owners.
The most regular pets in the United States are cats, dogs, and fish. Birds, and small animals such as hamsters and mice, are a detach third and fourth. Some pets that were formerly considered exotic, especially reptiles, are upward in popularity. Although dogs are found in more households than any other pets, more fish are domesticated than any other animal. Although most households only have a lone cat or dog, most fish "guardians" own more than a dozen.
Some exotic pets such as reptiles and birds don't look all that strange. However, there are several pets that you wouldn't supposed to see as family open household pets. Animals must be bred and trained, sometimes for many generations, before right capable to person interaction and earning the distinction of "pet."
Uncommon pets that have adult in popularity compose chickens, tame silver foxes, hedgehogs, monkeys, raccoons, piranhas, and even cheetahs. The incline could continue, while some of the most uncommon "pets" are actually domesticated illegally.
Regardless of what animal is preferred by its landlord, both greet payback of the symbiotic relationship. Medium-sized pets, especially dogs, are great workout partners for a walk or run around the part. Fostering at slightest one pet has consistently been revealed to impart such bodily repayment as lowered blood pressure.
Some of the shape payback are precisely allied to corporeal fitness, but some of the most dramatic vigor profit for the holder are psychological.
Therapeutic institutions afford animals for some of their patients to rear as part of the recovery practice. Patients are givens responsibility to anxiety for another living thing. Studies have shown that pets help patients recovered from uneasy pasts, and live improved, longer lives. Another detail use of pets being beneficial to their owner is their use as guidebook dogs for the visually impaired.
Even still there are many valuable health benefits given to people who cultivate animals, owning a pet provides many arduous challenges. Many animals permit behind dander that may harshly impair allergies. The deeds and keep of pet animals may also afford a large quantity of stress to their owners. In some suitcases, animals injure their owners or other people nearby sometimes even lethally. After all, animals aren't doomed to be domesticated; their untreated home will forever be in the natural.
Because pets are living equipment, with their own personality and happiness, there are a spacious kind of laws set to defend both the pet and the owner. Many of states have law in place that limits the quantity of pets in a home, and regulates which types of animals are permitted. Many dwelling and condominium complexes don't allocate their residents to create pets, which is stubborn for pet owners, but ultimately helps to ensure that pets are raised in a more apposite environment.
Although pets aren't for everybody, they have a considerable list of benefits, physically and emotionally. Adopting pets is a great opportunities to provide a condition place to live for an animal in necessary of dear and attention.

About the Author
To read about frog pictures and life cycle of a frog, visit the Frog Facts site.

It so easy to do obedience pet training

by marlene deidre

it so easy to do obedience pet training marlene deidre
Anything but misbehaving pets is what every pet owner dream of from their pets. However, we all know that having well-behaved pets require some work and persistence from pet owners. Dogs are perhaps the easiest to teach in obedience pet training but when you're trying to train another kind of pet, such as cat or bird, then it might take some time for your pet to get used to obedience pet training.
For many professional pet trainers, obedience pet training essentially entails a lot of common sense and being persistent with your rules. Pets with behavioral problems can make anyone nuts, including the pet owner himself. Yet, obedience pet training doesn't have to be difficult for your pet and you.
Among the guidelines in obedience pet training is to set your expectations based on the personality and existing behavior your pet displays, and then fine tune them according to your idea of an obedient and loveable pet. In addition to that, make sure you correct any form of misbehavior in such a kind way that your pet will not find aggressive. Remember that in most animals, aggression begets aggression. Your pet should first see and experience kindness from you so it will learn in obedience pet training.
Obedience pet training helps your pet contain aggression and become friendlier not only to its owners but also to your guests. However, don't expect change to happen overnight. You will have to repeat rewarding positive behavior in relation to obedience pet training and correcting what you (or your friends) deem as undesirable behavior, such as barking, growling, jumping or sniffing at visitors.
Another way to inculcate obedience in pets is to say commands in an authoritative manner without the threat of force. Pets should obey its owner not for fear of punishment but because they are taught that being obedient keeps them in tune with the owner-pet relationship. This includes responding to commands immediately.
Benefits of obedience pet training The most obvious benefit in obedience pet training is having a pet that doesn't cause any hassle or problems such as making excessive noise, biting, scratching and other behavior otherwise deemed desirable. A friendly pet usually conjures warmth for the entire family.
Financially, an obedient pet saves you hundreds of dollars on medical bills (in case your pet bites off or scratches a stranger), payment for destroyed properties (your pet cat or dog just loves to knock down your neighbor's plants) and relieves your stress rather than be one cause of it.
The benefits of obedience pet training will start rolling in once your pet learns that good behavior is rewarded with love and, of course, goodies.
Please check out ArticlePaw.com for useful tips and info about Dogs and Exotic.

About the Author
Marlene Deidre writes for ArticlePaw.com a site fill of helpful insight about Pets and Birds .

Getting A Vet That Your Chinchilla Is Comfortable With

by Jhye

Choosing a vet for your chinchilla is not just about picking one that you have immediate access. They take up little space, leave no messes, and require minimal maintenance. If you've just gotten one, there are a few things you need to learn about taking care of hermit crabs. This article will give you a few tips to ensure you take proper care of your pet hermit crab.

Water
Your crab needs water to survive. At the least, you should provide him with a dish filled with fresh water. If you get the water out of your tap, you will need to dechlorinate it before your crab can drink it. It's also best to provide a second dish filled with saltwater. It's best to buy a saltwater mix from your local pet store to make sure it's right.

Humidity
Humidity is also important when taking care of hermit crabs. Although they're land crabs, they still have gills to help them breathe underwater. These gills must remain moist at all times in order for the crab to breathe.
Make sure you provide a humidity level between 70% and 80%. Daily misting combined with an appropriate aquarium top should do the trick. Buy a humidity indicator so that you can easily keep an eye on the level.

Temperature
One of the next important aspects of caring for a pet hermit crab is providing the proper temperature. If he suffers prolonged exposure to temperatures below 70 degrees Fahrenheit, he will die. Conversely, excessive heat can lead to overheating which causes irreversible damage and possibly death. Get a thermostat and try to keep the temperature between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Heat
You will need an undertank heater to provide the ideal temperature level. The heater you buy is determined by the size of your tank. Keep in mind that the heater needs to provide enough heat even though it will be situated beneath the substrate.

About the Author
These are a few tips for taking care of hermit crabs. Many pet shops do offer some iguanas at reasonable rates. Iguanas are now considered as among the extraordinary favorite pets of people of all ages. They see iguanas as cute strange pets, something weird and wonderful and out of the ordinary.
Just like any pet, iguanas need proper care and attention. Now people would think that it's just easy to care for a pet iguana, but it's not. There are some important things you have to consider when housing an iguana. In fact there are several iguana caring tips that you can find in the internet. These tips usually come with iguanas lizards photos to make the discussion more interesting and clear to the readers.
A cage is needed to house the iguana unless you want them to roam freely in your house. The cage must be large enough to house your pet. The size will also vary based on the exact size of the iguana pet but the ideal size is up to 6 feet long. It is also important that there's a sufficient supply of water in the cage, some stuff for the animal to climb on and a hiding place. The cage should be twice the size of the iguana since they are considered to be arboreal, meaning they love to climb.
Iguanas are herbivores. They eat different kinds of green leafy vegetable and fruits as well. Basically, their diet should be composed of tofu at least twice a week, lettuce, broccoli, berries like blackberries and raspberries, and oranges. Fresh food and water is the foremost thing that you have to take into account in taking good care of an iguana lizard. The water and food that should be served to the iguana should be fresh at all times. Unclean water as well as spoiled food can cause some health problems to the iguana that's why it's so important to choose the right food for your pet. It's best to feed your pet lizard early in the morning. This is in view of the fact that food in the morning enables proper digestion.
The cage of your pet iguana should have proper heating. It is of high importance that the iguana should be heated by a light or heat pad. Hot rocks are not necessary for they can lead to the killing or burning of your pet iguana lizard. The ideal heating for the cage is approximately between 80 degrees Fahrenheit to 92 degrees Fahrenheit. If the iguana is not heated properly, it may lead to the iguana's food indigestion.
Proper lighting is also of the essence in caring for an iguana. Iguanas when deprived with UV lighting usually become ill with a disease known as MBD or Metabolic Bone Disease. It's important that your pet lizard is allowed to laze around under the sun. The cage should have special fluorescent that are usually purchased in pet shops that sell some pet supplies.
The cleanliness of your friend iguana is also of the essence. Your iguana and its cage should be cleaned regularly. Proper hygiene of your pet should be practiced so as to prevent it from getting sick. Iguanas are identified to be carrying bacteria known as Salmonella. They are among the exotic animals that are kept as pets by some people in the present-day society. In fact, there are many pet shops now that sell iguanas at a fairly low price. The iguanas that are usually sold in these pet shops are those that are quite young. People see these iguanas as very cute that they become interested in keeping them as pets. But the fact is they are still reptiles that has the tendency to grow bigger and bigger and can become very aggressive.

Iguanas can be a good pet but you should not forget that like other pets they need proper feeding and care. To understand the proper way to care for iguanas, it is important that you have knowledge of the basic nature of iguanas, their feeding habits, their habitat, and other issues relevant to their existence.

What is an iguana? Are they similar to lizards? What are their characteristics? Are they harmful? Iguanas belong to the family of lizards. Specifically they are a member of the family Iguanidae. They are deemed to be invasive species that are mostly found along the shores of Gasparilla Island and the coastline of the gulf of Florida. They are commonly seen in the beach and attics of houses. But generally speaking, iguanas thrive best in the wilds especially in deserts and rain forests.

There are various species of iguana. They normally vary depending on the environment in which they live. Some iguanas dwell in dry lands while others grow best in rain forests. Some are even found in the sea. These iguanas are called marine iguanas. There are also iguanas that are called as green iguanas. They are very common in Mexico and the South American countries particularly in Brazil. By and large, iguanas are classified into four major kinds namely: marine iguana, green iguana, blue iguana and lesser Antillean iguana. In terms of the food they eat, iguanas are known as herbivores. They feed on leaves, fruits, and other parts of plants.

Iguanas have different features and behavior. In essence, a male iguana looks and acts in a different way compared to a female iguana. In terms of territorial behavior, a male iguana will fight tooth and nail with other male iguanas even if their life is at risk. They do this to win supremacy over the territory. A male iguana will find other males and wage in war. Just like humans, the male iguanas have ego, they want to be the only powerful male iguana in a certain territory. They seek out for other males to declare war and mate with females.

Hence, there are other things that you have to know about iguanas. These include the fact that iguanas are arboreal. They dwell in trees and it's just natural for them to climb on some stuff as well. They lay eggs and they can stay alive for 30 years.

All in all, if you want to keep an iguana as a pet, you have to take into consideration the do's and don'ts of caring for them. The cage of your pet iguana should be cleaned well regularly. And also the cage must be very big. In addition, you have to take into account that your pet iguana should have the appropriate kind of lighting, supply of heat and water. They should be fed on a daily basis. It is important to feed them properly so as to keep them on good physical shape. And most importantly, the iguana should be taken to the vet for a checkup at least once a year. When you have understood all these things, then you're ready to house an iguana.

About the Author
Find tips about iguana cage and iguana diet at the Iguana Care website.

The Significant Insights About The Iguana

by John Simmons

The term giant green iguana refers to the giant lizards. They are said to be giants because they grow up to five to six feet in a span of four to five years. If you prefer not to have a big lizard under your care, then do not opt for a giant green iguana. There are no dwarf versions of this species so you must understand from the very start that green iguanas by nature can grow really large. You cannot by all means make an iguana a dwarf version not unless you expose it to severe chronic malnutrition and then to continuous hypothermia.

Of course, when you do safe keep it on a tank that measures only up to ten gallons, its normal growth will be hideously hindered. Such kind of environment will also make the iguana sick and crazy to the highest level. If you are really serious in making the iguana appear small, then kill it slowly. Killing it slowly means keeping it in a very small-spaced tank container, giving it dull food to feed on, and then exposing it to extreme cold. You may likewise try to be humane and just simply buy a stuffed toy iguana.

The iguanas are naturally from the exotic tropical areas so when they are taken in as pets they must be fully maintained. Meaning, they must be catered with sufficient and healthy food, homey housing environment, proper lighting, and utmost tender love and care. In the absence of any of these factors, they can be subject to premature death. It is a must that you know for a fact if you will love to take care of a giant green iguana before purchasing one. They get extremely huge and live a span of twelve to fifteen years.

In terms of the breeding season, the mature male iguanas, which are then capable of mating with a female iguana, will usually appear rambunctious, mean, and grumpy. Meanwhile, the sexually active and mature female iguanas are able to lay eggs despite the absence of the male iguanas. More so, proper care should be given to the female iguanas so as they will be able to carry out a successful lying of their eggs. In truth, the giant green iguanas can be cared as pets both by the young and old.

Indeed, the giant green iguana ranks as one of the well-known and most sought-after lizards. Most of the buyers of the giant green iguana have no idea at all as to how huge the young iguana could grow when the right time comes. The full-grown giant male green iguanas measure up to almost seven feet. When it comes to feeding them, vegetables are a must. Pay particular attention to offering them the leafy ones since they are plant-eaters by nature. Fruits such as banana can also be included in the iguana's diet. At a very young stage, it is important to feed the iguanas with diversified sorts of food because it is during this time that they learn to recognize the food preferences that they will go for. Once or twice in a week, the iguana should be given a small quantity of a vitamin and mineral supplement which is especially intended for reptiles. When all these insights are followed, you can be certain that your pet iguana will grow healthy.

About the Author
For tips on red iguana and green iguanas, visit the Iguana Care website.

Pet Insurance - A Financial Safety Net for Animal Owners

by Joe Deacon

Pet insurance is something that every pet owner must consider. Veterinarian visits cost as much as physician's visits today!
Insurance for pets works in many of the same ways that human insurance works. There are many things to consider, such as monthly or weekly payments, co-payments, and deductibles. Each plan will have a set structure of what procedures and office visits will be covered. Most types of insurance offer prescription drug coverage. There are now many insurance companies available that provide these types of services.

Why You Need to Get Pet Insurance

You may be thinking that with today's tough times, getting pet insurance is not on top of your To Do list. But you really should consider this. After all, your pets are getting old too, making them susceptible to age-related illnesses and diseases. And of course, what if your beloved pet figures in an accident? Do you have any idea how much pet care costs these days?!?

The key to make pet insurance work for you is to get it early; i.e., the minute you get your pet. This is especially the case if you got your pet in its 'youth'. This way, you can really take advantage of the cost benefits as you take care of your animal friend through the years.

Don't worry if you have an exotic pet. Although most pet insurance covers only the 'basic breeds', there are many providers out there now today that cater to the more unusual breeds. All you have to do is look for them.

Regardless of the type of pet you have, you need to do your homework when selecting the right animal insurance provider. This ensures that you will have a problem-free experience when trying to make claims.

To guide you, here's a list of potential questions you can ask the animal insurance provider.

- What are the different pet plans available?

- Given the current age of your pet, which plan do they recommend and why?

- Are claim payments based on the bill of a veterinarian or the provider's benefit list?

- Are the dental needs of your pet covered?

- When you file a claim, will they increase the premium afterwards?

- As your pet gets older, will you need to pay higher premiums?

- How are pet insurance claims handled exactly?

- What is the exact coverage of the pet insurance they're offering?

- What are the LIMITS of the pet insurance they're offering?

If you love your pet, ensuring that you can properly care for him is a must. And having pet insurance not only ensures you can provide the best care but it's a financial safety net for you too should you find yourself needing to spend a big sum of money for your beloved pet's care.

About the Author

For extensive pet insurance reviews, visit PetInsuranceReviewer.com and get quick access to the site's extensive, user-only reviews of today's leading animal insurance providers.

Why Not Consider An Iguana For Your Next Pet?

by Lamar Deane

The Green Iguanas are one of the more popular lizards for people to have as pets. Iguanas need love, just like a dog or a cat would. Iguanas vary in color ranging from a bright green when young to a dull, grayish-green color as they age. They have good senses of hearing, smell, superb vision and can see long distances, shapes, shadows, color and movement. Their skin is rough, with a set of pointy scales along their back and have long fingers and claws that aid them in climbing and grasping onto things.. Iguanas, like other pets, (dogs, cats, etc) have distinct personalities and dispositions. They are usually laid back and generally likes to do their own thing They are very observant and curious animals. Like lizards and snakes being a cold blooded reptile, the iguana has to create and maintain their own body heat by finding an area that is warm or sunny to bask in. A basking light is a critical component in keeping a healthy iguana.
Behavior: Iguanas will attempt to flee when threatened by a predator, but If cornered they will extend and display the dewlap under their neck, stiffen and puff up their body, and bob their head at the aggressor. Adult iguanas will make a deep grunting or hissing sound as a warning and protest when they feel threatened by a predator. A scared iguana generally will lash with it's tail, bite (the iguana has a row of sharp serrated teeth) and use its claws in self-defense. Iguanas can fall up to 40 feet and land without getting hurt. They use their hind leg claws to grasp branches, or leaves to break their fall. Sneezing is a very common characteristic of iguanas which is quite normal. This is a way they rid their bodies of certain salts. Healthy pet iguanas can live for 20+ years.
Diet: Green Iguanas are primarily herbivorous (plant-eaters), who's diet consist of fresh leafy plants and vegetables such as mustard greens, sweet potatoes, carrots, romaine lettuce, dandelion, or kale (especially as adults). The younger iguanas diet may include insects as well as plants. Having access to fresh water is also vital to their health.
Housing...Cages: Iguanas can grow to rather large sizes as they grow older. Some can grow as large as 7 feet. As adults they require very large cages (or an entire room). You can buy a cage from a manufacturer who deals in iguana cages or you can build your own. There are many sites on the Internet with cage plans for those who wish to build their own iguana cage. An iguana cage should be at least twice the length of the iguana and should be at least 6 feet tall. The width of the cage should be at least 3 feet or half the iguana's length. The bigger the cage, the better. The enclosure should have proper lighting, heating and humidity devices, as well as climbing materials. Because iguanas are susceptible to certain types of bacterial infections of the skin and digestive tract, cages and housing must be disinfected and cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis.
Iguanas are considered exotic animals so some states, counties and cities have laws and ordinances against keeping iguanas as pets. Also, many apartments and town homes do not allow pets or they may only allow certain pets. Always check before acquiring an iguana as a pet.

About the Author
Read more free tips and information on How to Choose The Right Pet For You

Enjoy your hours of dog clothes shopping in the malls

by marlene deidre

Clothes' dog often stands out whenever and wherever you see them. In some days, cool dog clothing draws attention, apart from being a fun accessory to your pets. You have spotted muscular Bulldog breeds in tight sweaters grandly pulling their master for an afternoon brisk walk, the tiny Chihuahuas in a mini poncho jumper, embellished with little sombrero, and of course the Weiner dogs in bright yellow raincoats warily gazing in the streets. Heaps of Selection Choosing the right dog clothes for your dear pet is rewarding and fun. The variety of dog clothes seems endless. There is a wide range of cuts, styles, colors and fabrics to pick from. Nevertheless, what are really the essential things to consider when buying clothes for your dogs? The major concern is the fit. The garment must provide comfort to your dog's body and will allow them to move freely anytime. Buying apparels for dogs is similar to buying your own set of apparel. There are some fitted garments that can fasten when the dog moves around such as when jumping onto your lap. So it is important also to regard the body shape of your pet, just as how you put much consideration on your body shape. There are a lot of excellent reasons to deck out your dogs in several fine threads. Yet flooded with the apparently infinite options of clothes for dogs, how does one avoid from wasting money on wrong dog clothes items? Pick right. Dog Clothing Features First, regard the occasion whenever you purchase some clothes for your dog. You can categorize them according to the needs of your pet. They need a set for home use, for street brisk walking, or for special parties that your pet may be invited. You can also fascinate your clothes' pet with buttons, feathers and dangling strings. However you should also consider if these clothes will squeeze your pet when in tight places and may hurdle hazard. Try to check professional dog clothes makers because they can guide you in properly sizing your dog. Additionally, the weight of your dog changes so that is also another essential thing to consider. For party dog clothes, opt for fire-resistant clothing. Opt also for dog clothes that have sufficient openings because you never know when your dog visits the powder room.
Garments for your pet dogs go further than just being a fashion statement. Give them the proper body shelter that they need, adding more fun by embellishing it with various adornments and special designs.
Please check out ArticlePaw.com for useful tips and info about Dogs and Exotic.

About the Author
Marlene Deidre writes for ArticlePaw.com a site fill of helpful insight about Pets and Birds .

How To Be A Repsponsible Reptile Owner

by Joan Shine

The leads to harms for both humans and ultimately the reptiles themselves. More regularly than not, people achieve reptiles for the crime reasons. They often get on impulse or, because they think it will make them look cool among their contacts.

Your choice to get any reptile must not be full lightly. A reptile in detention depends on its landlord completely. Unable to custody for itself, it is at the mercy of the caregiver and without the fitting nursing, can advance to fitness problems and even decease.

To neglect responsibility as a possessor can mean torture for your newly acquired reptile. If you think a reptile is incapable of emotion, possibly you should refrain from acquiring any pet. Remember, there is still the degree of torture and pain to be considered should it be neglected.

Any living being deserved the right to obtain the best treatment likely, especially one held in custody. The environment you offer your reptile must densely resemble the untreated field in which they are found in the violent.

If you decide to give your pet away or trade because it was not right for you, like make definite the guise getting the reptile has correct knowledge of what it takes to attention for, and shelter the animal.

Reptiles make fascinating pets. The experience can be pleasing and educational. The responsibility falsehood in the hands of the holder. If you want a fulfilling and long lasting experience as a reptile vendor, take the time and make the struggle to learn about what's concerned before you hold or accept a reptile.

The next result you must make is where to foothold your reptile from. As a customer you have some options and again this is a necessary action in your choice making. If you elect a reliable pet store, don't view on their expertise. While they may trade reptiles they may not have the experience to give you the mandatory information. In some instances they are unfortunately sold only as profit pieces.

It's often amazement they even made it to the pet store in one slice and energetic. Exotic pet sales have vanished through the roof, so many of these amazing creatures are handled illegal right from the found. It pays to inquiries how a vigorous reptile should look before you make the commitment to goods. Just having an accredit to trade a reptile does not make the management responsible people with consciences.

One of the best choices you have is to goods from a breeder. Visit numerous and ask questions. No matter is a childish probe. Ask to see if they keep report. If you are purchasing immature reptiles, make positive they are intakes before pleasing them home. Make assured they are not too diluted; this could be a mark of bad shape. Ask if you can import your reptile. Make trusty they are lively and affecting liberally.

If you are not 100% sure do not make the goods. Take your time.
Remember, a responsible pet vendor is not just superstar who loves animals. It's someone who makes the stab to trouble for the animals correctly. There are many well-gist people who call themselves animal lovers and still don't have what it takes to be the right caregiver for reptiles. You may be the complete meet for a dog and far from the perfect game for a turtle, twist or a lizard! Know your confines before you commit.

About the Author
Read about bull frogs and goliath frog at the Frog Facts website.

Vegetarian Pet Foods and Healthy Companions

by Rebecca Bennett

Many vegans/vegetarians with pets want to feed their companion's vegan pet food to match their own diets, but finding suitable food is not as easy as it may seem.
Pets have very different dietary requirements to humans, and in effect cannot be fed the same foods as humans. One animal will have a different diet to the next, making the feeding process more complicated. Fish are a great example of the varying diets of animals. Even among fish breeds, there are different dietary requirements to take into account; some are herbivores, some are carnivores and others are omnivores. All pet owners need to have knowledge of their own pet's dietary needs and what vegetarian pet food to use in order to be able to raise a healthy animal.

Some animals will also have conditions which need to be taken into account when feeding them vegetarian pet foods, such as nutrient absorption problems and skin diseases. Your dog might need an omega supplement to support the function of their organs and improve mental alertness, or perhaps your bird needs lots of carrots and broccoli leaves, along with a vitamin A injection from the vet to treat a vitamin A deficiency.

A pet not fed appropriate food with necessary vitamins may become very malnourished. Quite often it is easy to determine if something is wrong with a pet's diet; they will show changes in behavior and or activity. A vet can tell you what's wrong, and how to fix the problem. Deficiencies left untreated often decrease the quality of life a pet has, such as through lack of energy or dehydration. Some untreated deficiencies go a step further and can cause an animal to die if they are severely depleted of essential nutrients. Sometimes a pet will die from dietary problems; not necessarily a direct result of a deficiency, but from the symptoms caused. When preparing foods full of nutrients, be sure not to include too much of some things, as animals can overdose on certain nutrients. Do your research before hand for your specific animal, so that you know what they need, and how much.

If you're trying to raise your pet as a vegetarian, it's highly unlikely that you'll find vegetarian pet food at your local mainstream supermarket. Most fish foods list the first ingredient as fish meal; a non-vegetarian ingredient. Most pets should be fed some sort of specialized pet formula/food for optimum health. These products are not always easy to obtain; it generally depends on where you live. Larger cities will have all sorts of pet stores which may stock vegetarian pet food. If you can't find the pet food you want, you can always ask around to see if someone can order it in for you. You might have to resort to buying your pet food online, but if so, be careful as to ensure you are buying quality food from a reliable supplier who won't scam you.

Some animals, such as pet rats and dogs, can be fed vegetarian pet foods, again, providing it is not deprived of the nutrients it needs. Other animals will not take so well to a new diet. This does include rats, mentioned, as some are fussy eaters and may not like the new vegetable and nut mix in their food dish. It's important to let them enjoy the food they eat, so make sure you mix it up with flavors (no dangerous spices; you don't want to harm a delicate stomach).

Cats are the one common pet designed to be carnivorous. Pet owners are split right down the middle as to whether cats can be fed an entirely vegetarian diet or not. The truth is, cats have a very hard time digesting and absorbing nutrients from plant based foods and vegetarian pet food, and can obtain them much more easily from meat products. There have been some stories of owners successfully raising vegan cats, but also some unsuccessful; in which the cat suffers from severe malnutrition and can go blind from taurine deficiency (never feed dog food to a cat because it usually does not contain taurine). If a cat is going to be fed vegetarian pet food; it should be raised on this diet from a young age, or very slowly moved over to the new diet while it is still active and healthy. If the cat shows signs of intolerance to the diet (such as physical/active changes), the diet should be revised or abandoned altogether. Old cats should not be moved to a vegetarian diet, as their organs and digestive system may not be able to handle the new types of food. Don't forget, never give cow's milk to a cat; most cats are lactose intolerant and this will just cause digestive problems and possibly illness.

Most pets can be successfully raised on vegetarian pet food, but a lot of knowledge on dietary needs and nutrients is necessary before taking a vegetarian approach to feeding a pet. Without this, an animal may be malnourished and lack the nutrients required to live a healthy life. So make sure you are well educated and know your companions nutritional needs firstly.

About the Author
Rebecca has worked in the vegetarian and vegan industry in Australia for more than 6 years. Take a look through the family photo album and you will likely find a pet in more than one shot. Face it, pets often become extended family members and are well loved and equally cherished. This is why many pet owners today are taking the initiative to get their pet professionally photographed. Why not become the premier pet photographer in your region?
The Plan

You may not need to develop a photographic studio to start. You may look instead at the idea of making house calls. The pet may be more relaxed due to the familiarity of the home and the common backdrops of the home may provide a stronger family link to the resulting photograph.

Be sure to include props whenever possible. This could be something as simple as their favorite squeaky toy or as elaborate as a pet sweater and umbrella. Find out as much as you can about the personality of the pet - and the pet owner. Where one owner may not mind a tutu on their pet it may be an incredible offense to another pet owner. Offer to take photos of the pet with the owner as part of the package.

Constantly add to your portfolio even if that means taking a few photos for free in order to get that portfolio started. You might also consider developing an online website that shows some of your stars in all their glory.

Remember a pet photographer will not simply take pictures of dogs and cats. You might find yourself up close and personal with a horse, a guinea pig or monkey. You might even find exotic pets or fish that require your special photographic skills.

You may begin the process with exceptional photographic skills or you might be a novice who is dedicated to further education on the subject. Your fees will largely depend on your skills, available equipment and how comfortable you are around animals.

The Funds

Every business will require startup funds. In the case of pet photography you might consider purchasing the best possible camera your budget will allow. Ask around or conduct research. Try to make sure your camera choice can expand based on growth potential. In other words make sure you can affix the camera to a tri-pod and make sure the camera will work well for both indoor and outdoor lighting.

Work at acquiring additional equipment as funds allow. Take advantage of synergy - work with companies that can provide additional sales tools like key rings, magnets, calendars, shirts and even puzzles that include the pets your photograph. You may find there are many customers who want more than just a framed 8x10. By using the expertise of others you can provide services you could not otherwise offer.

The Market

Take your idea to pet owners. This could be accomplished through a kennel club, an association of a particular breed of animal or even a 4-H show or fair.

Volunteer to take photos at a pet show and then make your prints available for sale. This can be a great first step in introducing yourself and your skills to the general public.

Use both online and offline marketing strategies. Although it is a condition that affects a relatively small percentage of cats, it is a common reason for cat visits to the vet and can be serious if not treated in time. Prevention is the best medicine in most cases but there are ways you can treat an infection in its early stages at home before it spirals out of control.

The symptoms of feline lower urinary tract disorder are a change in the frequency of urination, painful urination, blood in the urine, incontinence, and more. The condition can be very painful so it's important that you treat your cat to relieve him of the symptoms.
Conventional treatment of feline lower urinary tract disease aims at suppressing the immediate symptoms of the infection. The problem with this line of thought is that the infection can return because the medicine doesn't get to the root of the problem. For this reason and the fact that conventional medicine has serious side effects, many pet owners are turning to alternative treatment methods.

Alternative treatment of feline lower urinary tract disorder aims at getting rid of infections by treating the problem holistically. A homeopathic remedy may be administered in order to alleviate the symptoms of the infection and strengthen the body's natural healing system. Dietary and lifestyle changes may be made in order to address the lifestyle factors that could be causing the infection.

A diet rich in raw, unprocessed foods is an important factor in treating and preventing feline lower urinary tract disease. Many commercial cat foods are full of chemical ingredients that can aggravate the symptoms of cat UTI and lead to an accumulation of toxins in the urinary tract. Furthermore, in order to detoxify properly, your cat needs to have plenty of fresh, clean water to drink.

To maintain a healthy bladder, a healthy flow of urine, and a strong immune system that can fight off infection, it is important to give your cat an all natural, homeopathic remedy. Homeopathic remedies are gentle yet highly effective and they don't have any of the dangerous side effects associated with conventional medications. They are 100% safe to use for extended periods of time and for that reason they make an excellent addition to any preventive treatment plan.

Make no mistake about it. Lifestyle changes and homeopathic remedies are the way to go in treating urinary tract infections in cats. Conventional medicine only suppresses the symptoms of the infection without getting to the root of the underlying cause. If you want to get rid of feline urinary lower tract disease and keep it from coming back, use natural treatment methods. They are safe, inexpensive, and provide long term results.

About the Author
Laura Ramirez is a passionate researcher of natural remedies which heal disorders and keep pets vibrant and healthy. What are some of the challenges that people face? What are some of the things that you've done to kind of help reverse some of that?

Dr. Graham: Tooth care, it's an interesting thing. Long ago people asked me to write about diseases. I said, "You know, I don't really write about diseases because diseases are all pretty much the same. If you stop participating in the cause, the body won't generate the symptoms." Every individual disease, there's thousands and thousands of human health conditions. I think it comes up the same with teeth. Oral hygiene and oral health is once again just one tiny aspect. It would be a shame if we were out there in the world telling people, "Look, we've got this diet. It's the best diet in the world for everybody but it's really terrible for your teeth." Well that wouldn't work. It turns out that the diet that we espouse is really wonderful for our teeth.

And obviously, but it still has to be said, because anybody that's ever been to a dentist's office has noticed that the dentist offices around the world are filled with people eating cooked food. So we can't just look at raw food and say, "Raw food is really bad for your teeth because look what happens," because we're seeing the same thing happen on cooked food. At the same time we're also seeing two other issues going on with our teeth that have to be at least allowed for. One is the fact, as disclosed in Pottinger's Cat's, that with every generation of cats eating a diet that was not species specific there was degeneration, both physical and physiological. In other words in the form and function and the design of the cat we saw decay.

We notice in human anatomy that changes have happened. One of the big ones that happens with malnutrition over generations is a loss of what is called the broadness, a narrowing of the dental arch. So for instance, if I smile at you, you might see 8 or 10 teeth whereas someone with a broader dental arch would smile at you and you would see 12 teeth or 14 teeth. The broader the front of that arch is, the wider the horseshoe, effectively, that the teeth make, the more room there is for teeth. So we're seeing an increase with each generation. We're seeing an increase in the number of children who need orthodontic work because there simply isn't enough room for the number of teeth that are coming in, so they start crossing over each other instead of sitting alongside of each other.

We have inherited not only this problem but several others, with the health of our teeth, before we ever went raw. Then we have these issues with going raw. One of them is that a lot of people go raw and have a really hard time staying raw, so they're switching back and forth between cooked and raw, which doesn't do our teeth a lot of good, especially the kinds of foods that tend to get cooked, because as you become aware on some level, cooked food is really sticky. It sticks to our teeth like crazy. If we're going to eat food that sticks to our teeth and a bunch of sweet foods as well, we're going to have problems. In fact, anything that sticks to your teeth is a problem. All cooked food is sticky, all dehydrated food is sticky to some degree, stickier than its fresh counterpart. Nuts and seeds are sticky, they've been dehydrated.

The other problem that comes in is almost invariably some aspect of nature attack us when we go raw. We become 'nature boys' and 'nature girls' to a greater degree than we ever were before. A lot of people have come to me and said, "I went raw four years ago. I stopped using shampoo. I stopped using deodorant. I stopped using a toothpaste. No animal brushes their teeth. I stopped brushing my teeth." The number of people who've told me that is just astonishing. And I'm going, "Yeah, you know, you didn't really earn that right the first day you went raw to expect that your body could function as if you had been raw your entire life and your parents had been raw their entire life and it had gone back for generations." I'm not really sure that no teeth care is the plan.

In fact, it's not the plan that I recommend. I recommend a tooth care plan. I recommend that you do clean your teeth after you eat and that you do not only a careful brushing under the gum line, or right at the gum line - this is where our teeth are most vulnerable - but that you also get out the particulate matter that's in between your teeth. Whether you're doing that with a bristly kind of round brush or whether you're doing that with floss or whether you're doing that with pick or a brush pick, there's a wide variety of ways to do it. We eat raw food and our teeth feel so clean but in fact there's still stuff, there's still material. And organic material stuck between your teeth is going to be broken down by bacteria. The bacteria will produce acid that will harm your teeth. In almost every case, I would say in every case of dental issues that I've seen with raw fooders, it's a matter of them having decay at the gum line. It's always at the gum line. It's not the enamel portion that they're having such problems with, it's at the gum line where there isn't enamel. And this is because on a standard cooked food diet we actually cause a loss of gums but also an inflammation of the gums. When the gums are inflamed, even though we've lost some gum matter, the inflammation makes them bigger and it covers up that area of tooth that has no enamel. When the source of the irritation goes away, we start eating raw foods that are not irritating to the gums instead of the cooked foods that have irritants built right into them, the food additives all function as irritants to the gums and so they become inflamed.

When we go to raw foods and we get rid of that irritation, the inflammation also goes down at which point we start to expose the teeth at the gum line, areas of teeth that don't have enamel, and without cleaning them on a regular basis you're definitely going to have tartar build up. What happens is kind of like a pearl in an oyster; the pearl functions as an irritant. If you get a little tiny bit of tartar under the gum line. If you get a little piece of food under the gum line it's like picking up the blankets on the bed, it pulls the gum off of the teeth and then anything else can get in under there. At every meal stuff starts getting under there and the gums just get worse and worse, they recede quickly.

The gums are supposed to be dull in color, they should not be shiny. They're supposed to be sort of stippled looking. They should not be puffy looking in any way, shape or form. If your gums are puffy or shiny, if the color isn't that of healthy gums, you need to take care of them. This idea that we can live without washing is just not founded. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, as the old saying goes. Certainly cleanliness is a huge part of health and hygiene for human beings. We have to take care of ourselves.

To read the rest of this transcript as well as access The Renegade Roundtable experts just like Dr. Doug Graham, please visit http://www.RenegadeRoundtable.com . I have three indoor cats and I love them very much and they are very spoiled! Patches is 15 years old, Lucy and Linus is 1 year old. If you have any pet you need to make sure you take care of them, just as you would a family member. Patches was diagnosed 3 years ago with Feline Chronic Renal Kidney Failure. It is a terminal disease which over time kidney function fails. Lucy and Linus are healthy playful cats. Watching how your cat acts will give you a clue if they are feeling good or not. Signs would be not greeting you like normal, eating, drinking, and if their coat gets dull and open. Cat health problems can sneak up at any time. That is why when you first get your cat you take them to the vet to get checked out and get a base line established of their health. Your cat may sometimes vomit, well don't freak out about it, he/she probably just has a hairball. If they are doing it more often you need to get them to the vet and have them checked. Make sure your cat drinks plenty of water and uses the litter box regularly. You don't want them to develop urinary tract infections. This is very painful for your cat. Provide a balanced diet that is high in protein and pick a cat food that is well rounded with vitamins and nutrients also. If your cat has the same thing as Patches, you need a low in protein diet. Have plenty of toys for your cat, so they can get there exercise. Cats need mental stimulus and to get their heart rate going to keep them young. Remember to take your cat to vet to get their shots on a regular basis. Give them plenty of loving!
How to keep your cat healthy

About the Author
Donna Brewer owns her own business and works from home. What to Do Before Your House Becomes One Giant Litterbox

by Wayne McDonald

Let's face it. It's unpleasant to say the least to have your cat urinating in house. Sometimes cats seem to completely ignore their litter box and urinate in the most appropriate places such as the kitchen sink. If you want to prevent messes and get the smell under control, it's important to address the underlying cause of the problem.

You are probably asking yourself, "why is my cat urinating in house?" Your cat is urinating in the house because he doesn't want to urinate in the litter box. He associates the litter box with urination. That's right… cats avoid their litter box when it is painful to urinate because they somehow believe that the litter box is the problem. Usually the underlying cause of painful urination is a urinary tract infection.

If you notice your cat urinating in house, it's important to take him to the vet to get tested. More often than not, urinary tract infections in dogs are caused by E. coli bacteria. If not timely treated, the infection can travel up to the kidneys and become life-threatening.

So why is my cat urinating in house and what can I do about it? While it's important to take your cat to the vet, you have to realize that your vet will most likely prescribe antibiotics. Antibiotics work but they do little more than suppress the symptoms of the problem. Many cats have recurring infections until the underlying cause of the problem is addressed.

In order to treat the problem, it's important to make some lifestyle changes. First of all, give your cat only fresh, filtered water. Make sure he always has plenty in his dish. Dehydration can cause urinary tract infections and drinking filtered water helps to flush out the toxins that accumulate in your cat's body. You're probably still wondering, "Why is my cat urinating in house?" You will also want to consider dietary change because dry, commercial cat food is often the cause of infection.

Dry, commercial cat food contains lots of minerals and it is very grainy. It can alter the pH of your cat's urine and make it easier for bacteria to flourish in your cat's urinary tract. Even before you see your cat urinating in house, you will probably want to start giving him only raw, unprocessed food and home cooked food. These natural foods will help your cat achieve inner balance and overall good health.

If you're still wondering, "why is my cat urinating in house and why can I do about it?" there is one more thing you ought to know. A homeopathic remedy, combined with sufficient water intake and a healthy diet, can effectively treat and prevent urinary problems in cats. Homeopathy goes beyond just suppressing symptoms. It helps your cat achieve permanent recovery by restoring health to your cat's bladder, urinary tract, and immune system.

Now that you are armed with this information, keep it in mind the next time you see your cat urinating in house. Don't wait until the problem spirals out of control. Prevent it from progressing by making the necessary diet and lifestyle changes and giving your cat a homeopathic remedy. Believe me. You will notice a huge difference in the way your cat behaves and you will help him achieve permanent recovery.

About the Author
Wayne McDonald is a health enthusiast who has been researching natural remedies for a number of years. Cat information is important if you have a cat, it will help your cat to achieve his best health.

One of the most major aspects that you need to be concerned with when it comes to your feline friend is their diet. Cats are obligate carnivores and you want to make sure that you are feeding them a diet as close to the one they would be eating if they were out in the wild. They were built to get their nutritional needs met by the consumption of a large amount of animal-based proteins.

Of all the cat information useful for you to know, the cat information involving their diet is some of the most important. Taurine is one of the most important amino acids that is present in meat but is missing from plants, and taurine deficiency will cause blindness and heart problems in cats.

Therefore you want to make sure that they are getting this and other important amino acids, some of which can only be found in meat.

Make sure that you do not feed your cat too many carbohydrates and also be careful with how many and how often you give your cat treats because they are packed with fat.

Another important piece of cat information involves exercise and how to ensure that your cat stays physically active. Assuming the fact that your cat has a clean bill of health to begin with, a proper exercise program will be beneficial for your cat no matter what. If you are interested in learning about the most important cat information, you need to come up with creative ideas to keep your pet active.

Use an interactive toy with features on the end and use it to encourage your bird to leap and stretch, or set up some boxes and bags to create an obstacle course for your interactive exercise session and this will not only help them get fit but also give them a great way to enjoy themselves.

If you have other cats around it will be much easier to keep them all active because they have friends to play with and will be able to stay occupied longer.

To keep your cat healthy, you must talk to your veterinarian. Ask for more information about your cat's health information and get more tips and tricks to improve your cat's health.

About the Author
Andy Immotna has been maintaining a number of premium membership websites that constantly provides members with resell rights products and highly valuable information products that people use to feed their membership sites and article directories.

<media:rating>nonadult</media:rating>
