As you might guess, the new Galaxy Player 5.8 has a 5.8-inch screen. That seems like a nice size for a tablet that potentially can fit into many pockets. Too bad Samsung ruined it by putting a low resolution screen on the Galaxy Player 5.8. It is a qHD display, which means it has a resolution of 960 x 540. The PPI on a screen that size is about 190. This is definitely a plan to cut the price of the tablet, but it might kill it for a lot of people.

Not many other specs are known other than a VGA front camera, 2,500 mAh battery, and 16/32 GB storage options. We should learn more about it at IFA in the coming days.

Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich update available
The Galaxy Note II (Galaxy Note 2) has finally been unveiled by Samsung after months of rumors and leaks. As expected, it has a 5.5-inch screen with a 1280 x 720 resolution and Super AMOLED technology.

The Note II also has an extremely powerful 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and spacious 2 GB of RAM. Storage configurations include 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB with an option to expand via microSD. The cameras on the Galaxy Note II include both an 8 MP rear shooter and a 1.9 MP front-facing one. The battery on the Galaxy Note II is even larger than the one in the original Galaxy Note at 3,100 mAh.

Of course the S Pen is included with the Galaxy Note II and it comes with some new software goodies. Speaking of software, did I mention that this phone has the latest and greatest operating system from Google, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean? Well, it does.

The Galaxy Note II is definitely an exciting piece of hardware that deserves checking out if your pockets can handle it. It will be released in October “starting in major European, Asian, and Middle East markets.”

Galaxy Note documents found on T-Mobile’s website

The Galaxy Note for T-Mobile is sure taking a while to be declared. We have been listening to gossips for what seems like permanently. Now assistance records for the Galaxy Note have showed up on T-Mobile’s hosts. You can see them for yourself here, but you will not be able to study any of the records because they are private data secured.

How much a longer period does T-Mobile need to launch or at least declare this device? We are beginning to listen to gossips about the Galaxy Note 2 that will create the first creation Observe somewhat outdated. Hopefully the T-Mobile Galaxy Note has improved specifications to create it more of a Galaxy Note 1.5 rather than a 1.0.

Galaxy Tab 7.7 updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6800) has an upgrade to Android operating system 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich available on Kies. Kies is a pc program that you can synchronize and upgrade your gadgets with. I am not sure why this is not an over the air upgrade.

This does appear to only be available for the revealed Wi-Fi + 3G design of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and not the Verizon LTE version. New samsung said that Ice Cream Sandwich would be arriving to their product range in September and Aug and we are already seeing that begin.
Austrian Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus entrepreneurs are lastly going to get some lovely Ice Cream Sandwich activity. This update delivers the Android operating system OS up to Android operating system 4.0. It is available for obtain via Kies or OTA (Over The Air). Just go into your configurations and immediate it to examine for a application update.

It is excellent to see New samsung providing on their guarantee for Ice Cream Sandwich up-dates this 30 days, but when will the other pills like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 get their formal upgrade?

New samsung has not informed us which gadgets will be getting Android operating system 4.1 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but I will make some knowledgeable guesses based off of past styles. New samsung usually gives one primary Android operating system upgrade. The up-dates do usually take quite a while though. First let me tell you which gadgets almost definitely will not obtain the upgrade. The unique Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Tab 10.1v, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, and the Universe Observe will not get the upgrade. Most of those gadgets will end up on Android operating system 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich though.

I would bet that all the Galaxy Tabs that released with Ice Cream Sandwich will get the upgrade to Jam Vegetable. That means the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will probably get modified to Jam Vegetable. The Galaxy Note 10.1 will also probably either release on Jelly Bean or obtain an upgrade to it.

Of course this is all rumours until New samsung informs us their upgrade plans.

Galaxy Note 2 rumored for September 2012

GSM Arena has some details from “an specialized resource, whom we have explanations to trust” about the Galaxy Note 2. They declare that the second Galaxy Note cellphone will have a 5.5 inches Super AMOLED show. The style of the cellphone will take hints from the Galaxy S III. The Galaxy Note 2 is also said to have less sized horizontally impact than the unique Observe, even though the show dimension will be bigger. This could mean that there will be an almost border-less show and the show will run to the advantage.

Just like I described in the name, this gossip indicates a Sept release. That is arriving up easily. I wonder if the Galaxy Note 2 will make it to promote before the constantly late Galaxy Note 10.1..

Hopefully this cellphone will run the newest edition of Android operating system, Jelly Bean. There are factors to believe that it might, but most likely it will release with Ice Cream Sandwich.

In a time where everyone is trying to get a taste of Jelly Bean Android 4.1 on their devices through custom ROMs, there are still some devices out there that are still receiving new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich based custom ROMs. One of those devices is the Galaxy S 4G, the little-known 4G-enabled variant of the Samsung Vibrant (which already has a Jelly Bean ROM).

XDA Senior Member erikmm has released Slim ICS, an Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 ROM that is known for its slim and trimmed down size resulting in a lightweight ROM with a few features and customization options thrown in, for a good taste of pure Android 4.0 without TouchWiz or other Samsung apps, for the Galaxy S 4G.

There are a couple of issues in the ROM, though they shouldn’t prevent you from using the ROM as your daily driver. The following bugs currently exist in the ROM (quoted from the development page):

CWM can’t backup/restore
UMS (USB Mass Storage mode)

Google recently posted the official stock Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean factory images for Galaxy Nexus (as well as other Nexus devices). Factory images are what you would call stock firmware which can be used to reset the device to a new state and are also the latest and most updated firmware.

XDA Senior Member teshxx has released a rooted and deodexed (deodexed means you’ll be able to flash custom themes later) Jelly Bean ROM for the Galaxy Nexus based on the official factory image, which can be used to update to Android 4.1.1 manually. This ROM is completely stock except for the fact that it is already rooted. It is also faster than the previous OTA based ROM that came out, according to reports.

Let’s take a look at how you can update Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean using the stock rooted ROM.

Compatibility

This ROM and the guide below are compatible only and only with the international GSM Galaxy Nexus, model number i9250. It’s not compatible with Verizon/Sprint variants or any other device. Check your device model in Settings » About phone.

Warning!

The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky and you should not attempt anything if you don’t know completely what it is. If any damage occurs to your device, we won’t be held liable.

How to Install Stock Rooted Factory Image Based Jelly Bean ROM on Galaxy Nexus

This procedure will wipe all your apps, data and settings. Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc. This Android backup guide would help you.
NOTE: Don’t forget to at least make a backup of your APN settings, which you can restore later if your data connection does not work after installing the ROM. Use the backup guide to find out how.
Unlock the bootloader on your Galaxy Nexus by following the guide → here. This will erase all your data, including the data on the SD card, so back everything up first (see step 1).
[Important!] Install TWRP recovery on your Nexus by following the guide → here. Make sure to flash the GSM version of recovery. You need recovery to be able to install the ROM and can also use ClockworkMod recovery instead of TWRP.
Download the latest version of the ROM from the development page. Be sure to download the deodexed version.
Copy the downloaded zip file to the SD card on the phone (do not extract it).
Turn off the phone and boot into TWRP recovery. To do this, press and hold the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons together till the screen turns on. Then, scroll to the Restart Recovery option using the volume buttons, then select it using the Power button to restart in recovery.
Now, tap on Backup, then slide the blue circle button at the bottom to the right to start backing up your current ROM, so that you can restore it later if something does not work out with the new ROM. After backup is complete, go back to the main menu by clicking the home button at the bottom left of the screen.
Select Wipe, then select Factory Reset and then confirm the data wipe. This will not wipe your internal SD card’s contents, so do not worry. Then, go back to the main menu by clicking the home button after wipe is complete.
Select Install, then scroll to the ROM’s file on the SD card (which you transferred in step 5) and select it. Confirm installation by sliding the blue button.
After installation is complete, select the Reboot system button to reboot the phone and boot up into stock Jelly Bean Android 4.1.1.
Congratulations! Your Galaxy Nexus is now running the latest Android version – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, rooted already. Samsung uses a pretty clever method to find out if a user has flashed a custom ROM or kernel or in any way tampered with the official software i.e the flash counter on their Galaxy line of devices, which gets incremented whenever a custom kernel or boot file is flashed on the device.

If you’ve somehow managed to trip the flash counter on your Verizon Galaxy S3 and would like to reset it, XDA Forum Member enderblue has posted a detailed guide on how the flash counter can be reset. The procedure needs root access to work and involves a few commands that need to be entered from a terminal or through ADB on the computer.enderblue believes the procedure might also work on the Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T variants, though those are all untested.

It is to be noted that it can be dangerous to try the flash counter reset procedure and must be tried at the user’s own risk, though it mostly should work without problems. Samsung’s battle with Apple is what is making the headlines these days — which I think is not everybody among us exactly wants to hear about. We love smartphones and the court battles like this often dampens the mood of us tech-hungry enthusiasts. But hey, kudos to J. K. Shin (Director of Samsung’s Mobile Communication Div) who has just brought a glimpse of the future Samsung devices — of course, those based on your beloved OS, Android, mentioning the names of products we all would love to hear about — the Galaxy S 3 and the 4G Samsung Android tablet, lets call it Galaxy Tab 4G.

About the Galaxy S 3, the device has already entered the planning stage and that we can expect the this 3rd generation of Galaxy S smartphone sometime in mid 2012. Well, we too could have guessed that but it’s nice to hear from an official guy! Sadly, nothing else was said about Galaxy S 3, though.

Also, the Galaxy Tab — which launched with a 7 inch version in 2010 and will soon have two Honeycomb versions in Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 8.9 — would surely see its updated version with 4G compatibility hit the stores by the end of this year. We know Galaxy Tab 10.1 (of course, 10.1 points to its screen size; and same for 8.9 inch version) is already looking like the best android tablet and maybe better than iPad 2too, but if you want a 4G compatible android tablet, you should hang in till this year’s end — but that’s not gonna be easy!

So, would you wait for either of Galaxy S 3 and Galaxy Tab 4G (or whatever its name is upon announcement)?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date revealed?

More details around the stated New Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have appeared, directing towards an previously launch time frame than first predicted.

According to a GSM Field resource New samsung has shifted the discharge time frame for the
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Sept – which is monthly previously than past reviews stated.

Apparently the reason for providing the statement forward is so New samsung can exhibit its new system ahead of Apple's expect iPhone 5 statement in Oct.

Even larger screen!

The resource also let slide on some of the requirements for the
Samsung Galaxy Note 2, along with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED show – a minor increase on the already huge 5.3-inch show on the
Samsung Galaxy Note .

Although show size will be improved, the size of the mobile phone will actually be less, with a thinner system on the cards.

We saw a twitter from New samsung recently regarding the
Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which seemed to recommend the mobile phone was indeed real – but it was quickly eliminated from the social media site.

Other gossip recommend that the New Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will stone up with a quad-processor and 12MP camera, and we wish it will come with the newest Operating system 4.1 JellyBean OS as well – but we'll have to wait and see.

Samsung Galaxy S4

It certainly seems like New samsung is getting over the globe right now – at least, the Operating system globe. There's no question that last seasons Samsung Galaxy S2 was probably the cellphone of the season.

And not these days, discounting The apple company of course, can we keep in mind the anticipations and anticipations of a cellphone as much as the
Samsung Galaxy S3.

If you required a measure of this, just look at how it was revealed. Not at MWC like many others, but its own occasion. Yep, the
Samsung Galaxy range has achieved the stage where it can assurance tons will come just for an introduction. Very Cupertino.

But despite the whooping public and the lines on release day, it wasn't the five celebrity cellphone we expected it would be... there's still very much space for enhancement. So here's what we'd like to see for next seasons SIV.

New Samsung Galaxy S4 Screen

This was the primary resource of critique. The
Samsung Galaxy S2 had an awesome Extremely AMOLED Plus show – and boy, was it vivid. The S3 increased the show dimension from 4.3-inches to 4.8-inches and the pixel solidity went from 217 to 306 to take a run at the iPhone's Retina Display.

But, New samsung also decided for a PenTile strategy, to the chagrin of nerds. What does that mean for the end user?

Well, the show looks excellent but you can create out p if you really, really stress. And some of the vivacity and color vividness is missing. On the plus part, New samsung reckons the show will go more time – but we'd rather see a much more S2-like show with a crisper quality.

Beam and beam again

Samsung may be establishing up its Galaxy Beam mobile phone as an personal enterprise but we'd really like the capability to be able to beam things immediately from our S4 onto a walls and truly display off the eight-core and Extremely HD abilities. Think about the looks of iFans when it's a spec-off and you glow THAT (literally) in their looks.

The simple reality is that the S3 has the handling energy to run graphically-intense promotions and the Search engines Perform shop allows you obtain films. Provided that there was some way of also flourishing out the audio, we think this would be an excellent addition.

Samsung Galaxy S4 battery

Ok, we confess we always want more. The S2's 1,650mAh was controllable and the S3's 2,100mAh strikes that out of the normal water. But it's still only OK.

You can get by on a day on average use but if you use this cellphone intensely (and we're discussing viewing TV reveals on the day and night travel together with your regular tinkering), this mobile cellphone will still want a connect in at some factor.

Motorola has confirmed it can be done by hiting a 3,300mAh energy load up into the RAZR Maxx which can still be regarded a thin Minnie. Something of that dimension – along with ICS and Samsung's energy control capabilities – would really be the frosting on the Ice Lotion Food.

Samsung Galaxy S4 design

We've missing depend of the number of individuals we've confirmed our system off to with responded with the words: "Yeah, it's excellent but looks like a bit of a toy." It's a double-edged sword: the nasty is used to keep this mobile cellphone awesome and mild, but does take away from what should be a top quality system.

A bit of cup wouldn't go incorrect. Operating system customers, say what you like about the iPhone 4/4S (and we know you won't be brief of words), but aside from being smash-tastic, the cup really contributes that top quality and costly think the S3 just doesn't have.

Forget what your mum informed you – it's what's on the outside that number too, so the New samsung Galaxy S4 needs to phase it up in the style levels.

Better S-Voice

S-Voice just isn't there. At least Siri had the styles to contact itself a BETA so that it could be free for not getting factors right at periods. The issue we have with S-Voice is it just doesn't seem to be able to do much.

Sure, it can tell you what the elements is like if you really can't be worried to look out the screen. And it'll preserve you 10 a few moments by establishing an security.

But it's just not highly effective enough - and is, seriously, terrible for something that's expected to be a title function on one of the best cellular phones.

We've actually been using Talk To It Associate far more often because it's excellent. New samsung could do more intense than buy a organization like this to provide the Samsung Galaxy S4 a actual possibility of being the best voice-controlled cellular out there.

Better Mac support

Yep, we know many customers believe Mac customers consideration for only 0.000001% of Operating system proprietor (why wouldn't they just buy an iPhone, right?)

But there are plenty who like The apple company computer systems as well as Operating system gadgets. And up until the S3, they got on popularly.

But Operating system has modified the guidelines and how storage space performs so that it follows the MTP Method which performs along exceptionally with Windows but can't take a position Apples.

Yes, we know this is a Search engines problem and not something that New samsung can be held responsible for. But having said that, the HTC One X also operates Ice Lotion Food and it has handled to modify the value enough for there to not be a problem.

Please New samsung – don't close them out. Ice Lotion Food may be freezing – but we shouldn't be, so when you carry out the Jam Vegetable or Key Calcium Pie-powered Samsung Galaxy S4, let's get some assistance.

Samsung Galaxy S4 accessories

Samsung revealed the Galaxy SIII together with a number of components – the regular factors like situations were accented by the C-Pen (like the Note's S-Pen but smaller) and the dongle to get in touch to your TV to flow things.

The problem is, they're all so expensive: £20 for the C-Pen and the best aspect of £70 for the AllShare Dongle. They're not popular components – and little wonder.

If New samsung created these less costly – or even used them into the box for the Samsung Galaxy S4 (highly unlikely, but we can dream) then it would create for a much more happy client.

Perhaps a top quality program where you invest a little more but get the components simultaneously would perform... individuals like to get the most out of factors when they get their bright new system.

Better charging

Plug it in and cost until it's complete. That's always been the way. But we'd really like to see a more innovative edition of asking for - getting rid of the cables should be more frequent.

Maybe something just like the conductive techniques used by Hand in the Pre which never really found on. The concept being that you don't have to connect the cellphone in to cost, just position it on a particular mat or position and it does it instantly. The S3 has that performance, but it's hardly been well-publicised since release.

Or how about something really extreme – like an assortment power that can also cost kinetically on the S4. Sure, it would be slowly but wouldn't it be excellent if you could go for a run and handle to obtain an additional 10 or 20% just by doing so to get you through the day? Radical – yes. But New samsung is known for its advancement.

Improved speakers

As amazing and amazing as the S3 is, the presenter still appears to be thin. Ringtunes audio inexpensive and when it is on its returning, they're also muffled. At least the iPhone has a bit of bass appears to be.

But what about going a bit further? Have three or four highly effective but little speakers around the rim so when you be a musician, it comes out noisy and without bass appears to be.

Hell, even create it so powerful that it negates the need for a journey connect so you can be a musician at a reasonable amount when you nip away for the few days or are seated on the seaside. That would be a actual feature.

Better press offerings

The variety New samsung has in its various locations is amazing - the Songs Hub has a lot of performance with loading and stations suggestions, and the Movie Hub... well, it has some movie clips. But it's bitty and on top of that you've got all of Google press promotions too. This is one of Apple's powerful points – it just all performs as one environment.

Maybe New samsung could look at joining up with Search engines or even Amazon to create a 'super press store' that would really affect the footwear off The apple company when it releases the S4 - think about a assistance where you got endless film loading each 30 days as aspect of your agreement.

But even if it's just including a New samsung Galaxy Shop, start to all, into Search engines Perform, that would at least be an enhancement. Some say Operating system is fragmentated. Why not cause the way, New samsung, and end that by forcing to have it all in one place?

Well, CM9 for Galaxy S3 was launched last night, and now much to the entertainment of boasting group with a Galaxy S3 in side, the AOKP rom is also available. Thanks goes to Faryaab for this, who is well known to group for his amazing F1 roms of which he’s designer and creator. So yes, this AOKP is not formal one right now, but it’s as excellent as formal would be if it’s launched right now. We think the formal develop will be launched soon, and it could also end up that that this develop of Faryaab is given the formal position.

Since AOKP roms are depending on their CM9 version — just like MIUI roms used to be previously, but some some MIUI roms are depending on inventory too now, for example One X MIUI rom — it’s only a issue of your energy and energy that AOKP came for Galaxy S3 after Cyanogenmod 9 did. And btw, the newest edition of AOKP rom is Build 39, and this
Galaxy S3 AOKP is that only, the newest and most modified one.

And since it’s depending on CM9, the Galaxy S3 AOKP rom stocks (read: experiences with) same insects as that of CM9. Here is it:

The only insects this AOKP rom for Galaxy S3 comes with, as of May 18, 2012, are: FM Stations not reinforced, LED cannot be used in Photographic camera which causes Power Ends on some cellular phones (all other camera factors perform just fine) and finally, Wi-Fi relationship concerns for some, for which there is a operating fix too until the bug itself is ironed out absolutely. So, no deal-breaker insects with this Galaxy S3 AOKP develop, just go forward and set up it using the guidelines set below on the Galaxy S3 i9300 near you. Examine out the Known Issues web page here for modified record of insects as the growth goes on and new creates come out.

Compatibility

This information is appropriate only for New samsung Galaxy S3 worldwide edition GT-i9300 — one with Exynos quad-core brand and 1GB RAM. It is NOT for Galaxy S3 at Verizon, Dash, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Mobile and any other Canada Galaxy S3. Examine your cell phone's edition in Configurations – About Mobile phone. It has to be “GT-i9300” for this AOKP rom to be suitable with your phone.

Warning!

The techniques and techniques mentioned here are regarded dangerous and you should not effort anything if you do not know absolutely what it is. If any harm happens to you or your program, we will not be organised accountable — you only will be accountable, you have been warned!!!

How to Install AOKP on Galaxy S3 i9300

Here’s the set up information to set up the AOKP rom on your Galaxy S3.:

Even though not a demanding need, it’s very much suggested that you set up Cyanogenmod 9 (CM9) on your Galaxy S3 first. Come back to this web page after you have got the CM9 set up on your S3.

[Otherwise, AOKP can be set up without setting up CM9 too. Just set up the Clockworkmod restoration on Galaxy S3 from here, and then leap to phase 2 right below. The information which continues to be same in this situation too, nothing changes.]

Download the Galaxy S3 AOKP rom now from the Faryaab’s growth web page here: LINK. (This information file will be exhibited in phase 8 below.)

Download the Search engines Applications program. This will set up apps like Industry, Googlemail, etc. which are not existing in the AOKP rom by standard. (This information file will be exhibited in phase 9 below.)

Download Weblink | Filename: gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip

Connect phone to PC and exchange the two zip information files you downloadable in phase 2 and 3 to your Galaxy S3, on the inner facts that reveals up on PC upon linking.

Disconnect it from PC. And energy off it, delay until it vibrates and the two capacitive lighting (Menu and Returning keys) go off — to validate finish energy off.

Now, begin into clockworkmod restoration — for this, media and keep these 3 control buttons together: Amount Up + House + Power until you see New samsung logo on display, upon which you can launch them control buttons. You will get into restoration function soon enough. (Use volume important factors to look through between alternatives in restoration while energy key to select to select an choice.)

[Optional] It’s suggested you make a back-up from the clockworkmod restoration your phone is in right now, using the choice Backup and Recover » select back-up from inner facts. You can restore this back-up to get everything to regular in situation something changes out bad. You just need cwm restoration for this, which you always get from the relationship above, in phase 1.

Wipe factors now to get ready for set up of AOKP on Galaxy S3:

Do Clean Data/Factory Totally recast — select the choice and then select yes on next display to validate it.

Do Clean Storage cache Partition – select the choice and then select yes on next display to validate it.

Go to innovative and do Clean Dalvik Storage cache — select the choice and then select yes on next display to validate it.

Flash the AOKP on Galaxy S3. Now, from the primary selection in restoration, select the choice set up zip from facts, then select choose zip from inner facts, and then look through to directory place where you relocated the 2 information files in phase 4 above, then select the AOKP rom information file (which you downloadable in phase 2 above). Select Yes – Install _____.zip on next display to begin boasting it. Blinking of AOKP will be began.

Now, you need to display the Search engines Applications too. So, after phase 9 is completed and you are returning to restoration, convert returning to the recovery’s primary selection. Find the choice set up zip from facts, then select choose zip from inner facts, and then look through to directory place where you relocated the 2 information files in phase 4 above, then select the Gapps information file (which you downloadable in phase 3 above) . Select Yes – Install _____.zip on next display to begin boasting it. Once gapps have been exhibited, convert returning to recovery’s primary selection.

Select restart program now to restart it and begin up into amazing AOKP rom.

It’s already based and had cwm restoration too, so you are done.

Basically, customers were weeping bad at the Applesque choice to modify the pinout of the
Say hello to this little ripper tools, which transforms the old 5-pin microUSB tip from the Universe S II’s MHL adapter to be suitable with the
Samsung Galaxy S III’s new developed 11 pin slot. The adapter will set you returning $9.99, but sure as besides surpasses spending another $39.99 for the more recent MHL adapter. Plus, if you delay it out, 3rd celebration producers will probably begin taking these out in the sub-$5 variety.

Surely we cannot be too mad at New samsung to create us invest a simple $10 to create way for 11-pin microUSB, which will likely mean better factors for us later on in the way of such components as docks and battery rechargers.
We’ve loved Galaxy S3 cf-root by Chainfire ever since it was launched, mainly because it’s an all in one tool for installing 3 things at one shot: cwm clockworkmod recovery (based on official but tweaked for Samsung devices), root access and SuperSU (superuser) app. But we guess there are many people who would appreciate the official clockworkmod recovery on their Galaxy S3, version 5.8.4.3, mainly because it’s got touch-enabled version too, which lets you do stuff — backup and restore whole rom, flash roms and themes, factory reset, etc. — using the touch screen, while the traditional hardware keys are available too.

Actually, cf-root is not touch recovery (atleast for now) which makes a point for official clockworkmod (cwm) recovery. Otherwise, cf-root gets you root too in one flash through Odin while as with official clockworkmod recovery, you will have to gain root access in a separate additional process. And moreover, cf-root is tweaked by Chainfire to provide for right backup paths for Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S3, to support internal sdcard and external sdcard separately.

Anyways, enough with what recovery got what and advantages/disadvantages of official and non-official cf-root one, now let’s see the installation procedure of official touch based recovery for Galaxy S3. And btw, thanks for this goes to mskip.

This guide is applicable only for Samsung Galaxy S3 international version GT-i9300 — one with Exynos quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. It is NOT for Galaxy S3 at Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular and any other Canadian Galaxy S3. Check your phone’s version in Settings – About Phone. It has to be “GT-i9300” for this Official Clockworkmod (CWM) Recovery to be compatible with your phone.

The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky and you should not attempt anything if you don’t know completely what it is. If any damage occurs to you or your device, we won’t be held liable — you only will be responsible, you’ve been warned!!!

How to Install Touch Clockworkmod recovery on Galaxy S3 i9300

Once again, this is the official cwm recovery for Galaxy S3 i9300. You can use your Galaxy S3′s touch screen in recovery mode too with this recovery, and those good old hardware keys — Volume Up and Down, Home and Power keys — can be used too.

If you have installed Samsung’s Kies software, you already have the drivers, so download them only if you haven’t installed Kies.
Download Drivers | Alternate Link for Drivers

If it still doesn’t work, try changing to another USB port on the computer and also use the USB ports on the back if you have a desktop PC.
NOTE: If you don’t see Added!! message, the rest of guide is of no use to you — you cannot install this clockworkmod recovery with getting the added! ! message. So, get it first.

In ODIN, click on the PDA button, then select the file — s3-touch-recovery.tar — you downloaded in step 2 above.

Important! Do not make any other changes in Odin except selecting the required files as given in step 10. Leave all other options as they are. So, Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes remain selected while every other checkbox remains unselected.Your Odin’s screen should look like this (the COM number could be different, no probs with that). See that Added! ! message in the box, that’s
necessary.

11. Now, hit the START button on Odin to start flashing the touch clockworkmod recovery on your Galaxy S3. Upon successful flashing, you’ll get a PASS message (with green background) in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin, and your phone will automatically reboot. When you see the Samsung logo, you can safely unplug the cable. What to do if Odin gets stuck? If ODIN gets stuck and doesn’t seem to be doing anything, or you get a FAIL message in ODIN, disconnect the phone from the PC, close ODIN, remove battery, re-insert it, turn phone on in Download mode again, and do the procedure again from Step 7.Upon successful flashing, Odin’s screen would look like this:

12. If you run into any roadblocks while flashing the firmware, let us know and we’ll help you out.

Galaxy S3 Root?

So, what about rooting the Galaxy S3 now, you may ask, since the official clockworkmod recovery doesn’t get you root access like the cf-root one. This may happen to guys who installed this recovery on their new Galaxy S3 on which no root or cwm has been installed earlier anytime.

Well, the best thing would be to install cf-root (linked below), to get root and recovery both at one instance, and then install the above touch recovery again — over the cf-root, recovery, that is — to retain root access, and have official touch based recovery too. And if don’t want a touch recovery, simply keep the cf-root things — that is, just flash cf-root to get root and recovery and that’s it.

iDuck Stand For Galaxy Tab
While using a tablet is easy and convenient, there are certain limits on how it can be used. For example, using a tablet without using your hands will be virtually impossible or just downright uncomfortable, that is, if you don’t have an ideal tablet stand to keep the tablet stand upright. And if you wish to put some added touch of fun to it, you may want to check out this unique iDuck Stand for your tablet.

The iDuck Stand for tablets is a unique stand in terms of looks in that it is shaped like a duck’s beak. It has a suction cup on one end that keeps it attached to the tablet when used. It gives your tablet some character in the process. The suction cup also acts as a cap that can be opened to give users some storage space inside the duck’s beak for earphones, cables and other accessories. The iDuck Stand for tablets is available at Konstore for US$20.

Those familiar with the original Galaxy Note will remember that it features a convenient slot to house the S-Pen, ensuring that the stylus would always stick with the device, thereby encouraging users to, well, use it.

At a recent Samsung event, it was discovered that Sammy has retooled the Galaxy Note 10.1 to not only include a quad-core processor (which we already knew about) but also to include a place for the S-Pen to live.

To allow the Note 10.1 to accommodate the S-Pen, Sammy had to slim down the stylus, but (as indicated in the photo above), the manufacturer will be offering a "holder kit" to bring the pen up to a more sensible size.

Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily. Dropbox was founded in 2007 by Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi, two MIT students tired of emailing files to themselves to work from more than one computer.

Today, more than 50 million people across every continent use Dropbox to always have their stuff at hand, share with family and friends, and work on team projects. We're looking for more great people to join us, so if you're excited to help simplify life for millions of people, check out our jobs.
If you buy a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 or Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, then Dropbox will give you 50 GB of storage for a year. After the first year you will be downgraded to 5 GB for another year. Then you will have the standard 2 GB. There are plenty of ways to get more free storage though. I have 10.2 GB free from referrals and automatically importing photos.

Dropbox was featured as App of the Week over a year ago. It seems fair to assume that Samsung has decided to remake it with the latest specs. Benchmarks were spotted for the quad-core version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 and you can view them in the image below.

The results show that the GPU in the Galaxy Note 10.1 is nearly twice as powerful as the recently announced Galaxy S III and over four times as powerful as the ASUS Transformer Prime. Personally, I cannot wait until the next Galaxy Tab or this new Galaxy Note gets announced. I hope the Galaxy Note takes over the Galaxy Tab line because the S Pen is extremely useful.

On the surface, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 appears to be little more than a low-key refresh of its six-month-old predecessor, the in-betweener Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. Admittedly, it is a fairly subtle refresh. But the Tab 2’s noticeably lower cost--at $250 (as of April 23, 2012), it represents a 38 percent drop in price from the 7.0 Plus--coupled with its numerous features gives it a clear advantage over the leading value-tablet competitors, theAmazon Kindle Fire and the Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet.

With that sizable drop, the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 marks the first time a premium Android tablet maker like Samsung has gone full-bore after the value market. The Galaxy Tab 2 is competitively priced against the $200 Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, 7-inch tablets that each use their own customized versions of Android 2.3. Those Android variants can provide better integration for some tasks, such as reading books and magazines, or acquiring media, but that convenience comes at the cost of wider compatibility with the Android app universe: Both Amazon and Barnes & Noble require you to purchase apps only via their respective storefronts.

The Galaxy Tab 2, in contrast, runs Android 4.0. That means it can handle standard Android phone and tablet apps in the Google Play store. It also offers features that neither the Kindle Fire nor the Nook Tablet does, such as an infrared port and a rear-facing camera. Samsung sacrificed built-in storage capacity (just 8GB, same as the other two value tablets and half of the 16GB provided on the Tab 7.0 Plus) to achieve the Tab 2's low price, but that doesn’t detract from the Tab 2’s widespread appeal.

Galaxy Tab 2: Design and Performance

The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is an evolutionary step over the extremely similar Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. Both models weigh 0.76 pound, and they feature a similar design and build quality, plus similar dimensions. Both measure 4.8 by 7.6 inches, but the Tab 2 is slightly thicker at 0.41 inch, versus the 7.0 Plus's 0.39 inch. The balance and weight are such that this tablet isn’t onerous to hold one-handed, though I’d like to see the weight become lighter still.

Only subtle tweaks distinguish the two. For example, the Tab 2’s plastic bezel curves around to the front of the screen, giving the front face of the tablet a pleasing look. The Tab 2 also has a larger infrared port, located at the top edge of the tablet when you're holding the slate in landscape mode; the port now wraps around the back of the device, presumably to improve communications between the tablet and your entertainment components. The power button and volume rocker, positioned along that same edge, have a more rounded, easier-to-press shape. The MicroSD Card slot door is slightly (by millimeters) wider, too, and just a bit easier to open, but you'll still need to do so using a fingernail. You can add up to 32GB of storage via MicroSD, a big benefit over the Kindle Fire, which lacks any expansion slot for local storage.

The back of the Tab 2’s case is a light, “titanium”-hued plastic, as opposed to the darker brushed gray of the earlier model. And although the rear camera is the same at 3 megapixels, the Tab 2 lacks the flash found on the 7.0 Plus.

The flash is just one thing that the Tab 2 sacrificed to achieve its low price. Inside, the Tab 2 has a 1GHz dual-core processor, down from the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus’s 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The processor change might account for why, in PCWorld Labs tests, the Tab 2 took 14 seconds longer to boot up than the Tab 7.0 Plus did; it also turned in a noticeably slower frame rate on the two GL Benchmark tests we run.

Other sacrifices: As noted earlier, the Tab 2 has just 8GB of built-in storage, down from the 16GB found on the Tab 7.0 Plus, and on a par with the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet. The front-facing camera drops from 2 megapixels on the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to a mere 640 by 480 resolution on the Tab 2--a significant, real-world quality drop that resulted in pixelated conversations when I used the camera for video chat.

Samsung's Plane to Line Switching (PLS) display is 1024 by 600 pixels, the same as on the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus before it. These days, this display is merely average, as several 7-inch tablets with 1200-by-800-pixel resolution are now available. I noticed that colors were slightly off on the Tab 2 compared with how they appeared on the older 7.0 Plus model; detail in images I viewed in the native Google Gallery app seemed slightly worse, too, although the tablets still scored closely on our subjective tests of the displays. I'm currently investigating this issue. Some of the differences may be attributable to the display itself, or they may have some foundation in how Google has changed Android's image handling between Android 3.2 (which shipped on the Tab 7.0 Plus) and Android 4.0.3 (which ships on the Galaxy Tab 2).

Another interesting difference between the two tablets: The Tab 2 has better audio output. Music sounded fuller, and not in an overprocessed way. The Tab 2 does have an equalizer option, which the 7.0 Plus lacked, but we didn't turn any of the effects on.

As a bonus over its Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet competition, the Galaxy Tab 2 adds Bluetooth and GPS, too. Overall, the Tab 2 is ahead of the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet when it comes to features.

Galaxy Tab 2: Software

The Galaxy Tab 2 series is Samsung’s first to ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. On top of that, Samsung includes its own TouchWiz UX overlay, with convenient pop-up launcher tweaks for fast access to a sliding bar of widgetlike Samsung apps (such as a calculator, an email app, and a world clock). TouchWiz also provides an easy-to-use screen-capture utility and superhandy customizations to the settings pop-up, along with some Samsung-specific software such as AllShare for DLNA network media sharing, and Samsung’s own app stores for games, media, books, and music.

In addition to the Samsung-branded apps, the Galaxy Tab 2 comes with a handful of useful Android apps preinstalled. Among them are Dropbox (with a year of 50GB Dropbox service included), the Peel Smart Remote app for use with the infrared port, and Polaris Office. The Peel app is a mixed bag, though: While it allows you to discover content visually, configuring the settings can be frustrating, and browsability could be improved. Ultimately, Samsung would do far better to write its own, more basic remote-control app, as Sony has done on its Tablet S.

If you own a Samsung Wi-Fi camera or HDTV, you may be able to benefit from some additional capabilities of the Tab 2 that tie in to Samsung’s product stable. Remote Viewfinder, which works with Samsung's Wi-Fi cameras, could have some interesting applications for group photos, for example; with this capability, you can use Wi-Fi Direct to form a connection between the tablet and the camera, and together with an app on the tablet, you can then use the tablet to control the viewfinder, shutter, zoom, and flash of the camera. Meanwhile, Smart View lets you mirror content from your TV on the tablet, but this function works only with Samsung 7000 series LED HDTVs, circa 2011 and later.

Bottom Line

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has some nifty features like the infrared port and Wi-Fi Direct, it is neither a premium tablet nor a pure budget tablet. The big question is whether full Android compatibility and those extras are worth paying $50--or 25 percent--more than what you’d pay for an Amazon Kindle Fire or a Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet. The answer: A resounding yes, but with a catch.

The catch, of course, lies in what waits around the corner for tablets--namely, Asus’s upcoming $250 tablet, which is expected to have a 1200-by-800-pixel resolution and a Tegra 3 processor. That model still doesn’t have an announcement date beyond “second quarter,” though, so for the moment the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is safely in the lead among inexpensive 7-inch Android tablets. It has flaws, but it delivers the most full-featured array of options among its current competitive set.

Samsung's first tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy Tab 2 announced today, succeeds the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab with little change besides the latest software.

Don’t expect anything groundbreaking in the specs department: the Galaxy Tab 2 runs on a 1GHz dual-core processor, with 1GB of RAM and a 7-inch display with a 1024 by 600 pixels resolution. It has a 3-megapixel camera at the back and a front-facing VGA camera on the front for video calls. The Tab 2 is 0.41 inches (10.5 mm) thick and weighs 0.75 pounds (344 grams), compared to the iPad 2’s 0.34 inches (8.8 mm) thickness and 1.32 pounds (601 grams) weight.

Samsung said the Galaxy Tab 2 will come in 8, 16, and 32GB models (a microSD card slot allows for extra storage of up to 32GB), as well as Wi-Fi only and 3G varieties. The company didn’t give out pricing and availability for the U.S., but confirms the tablet will first release in the UK and Scandinavian countries in March, priced at around $450 for the Wi-Fi-only model, and around $550 for the Wi-Fi + 3G model -- hovering near the iPad.

New Services

On top of Android 4.0, Samsung is adding its Hub line of services, including music, bookstore and newsstand, games and movies for purchase or rent. As usual, Samsung tinkered with the original Android 4.0 interface and added the Touchwiz skin, which includes S Suggest, an app recommendation service, and AllShare Play, which can live stream content from a PC to the tablet.

Since Samsung did not confirm the U.S. pricing for the Galaxy Tab 2, it’s unclear whether the company is targeting the best-selling Android tablet, the Kindle Fire; or the tablet market leader, the iPad. If international pricing is any indication, the Tab 2 has a price tag equivalent to iPad 2, although it offers a smaller screen for the same money. Compared to the Kindle Fire, the Tab is almost twice as expensive and very close in specs, aside from the cameras.

There are reports of alleged pricing information being leaked for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. If the information is accurate, Samsung has apparently not learned any lessons from its tablet experience thus far, or from the challenges and failures of its rivals. Pricing the Galaxy Tab 2 too high would virtually ensure it is dead on arrival.

A European blog called Sammy Hub has shared details it claims will be the pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 in various countries. The costs vary from country to country, but converting to US dollars reveals that the next-generation 7-inch tablet from Samsung will be somewhere north of $400.

I like the 7-inch Galaxy Tab, but dollar for dollar I would buy the iPad first every time.Rival tablets continue to attempt to go head-to-head with the Apple iPad, and almost every single one of them has flopped. The reality is that in spite of its reputation as a purveyor of “overpriced” gadgets, the Apple iPad is not only reasonably priced, but possibly a bargain.

If the iPad is overpriced, then every other comparable tablet should be undercutting it by 20 percent or more in price. Instead, rivals ranging from the Motorola Xoom, to the HP TouchPad, to the BlackBerry PlayBook, to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 are all trying to compete with pricing that is the same or higher than the iPad.

Warehouses filled with unsold inventory, fire sales designed to entice customers to at least consider rival tablets, and the growing collection of also-rans that have already faded from existence are all poignant reminders of the fact that price matters. But, the very best example out there to prove that a tablet other than the iPad can be successful at the right price is the Amazon Kindle Fire--which sells for a mere $200..

To be fair, the Amazon Kindle Fire is more an Amazon tablet than an Android one. It has Android roots, but it is a proprietary Amazon flavor of Android. It is not really an even comparison to pit an Android tablet like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 against the Kindle Fire based solely on price.

I’ll take a step back and qualify that statement. It is fair to some extent to compare the price of the Galaxy Tab 2 against that of the Kindle Fire. The features and capabilities of the two devices are similar. The Kindle Fire costs half as much, but it also lacks half the features. It doesn’t have front or rear-facing cameras, or GPS functionality. Looking at the stats on paper, the specs of the Galaxy Tab 2 appear to justify the cost difference.

Where the rubber meets the road, though, users won’t really be comparing the Galaxy Tab 2 against the Kindle Fire and justifying the cost. They’ll be comparing the Galaxy Tab 2 against the upcoming (and rumored to be imminent) Apple “iPad 3”, and that comparison will likely make the Galaxy Tab 2 look like a bad investment.

Of course, none of this is official yet. We’ll see what happens. Samsung may price its tablet more reasonably. Apple may jack up the price of the next-generation iPad. Based on tablet history, though, trying to compete directly against the iPad at the same price is a recipe for guaranteed failure.
