My uncle was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma in 2008 and that really hit close to home for me. It was devastating to know how bad he was struggling and he had to undergo multiple surgeries, one of which required removing part of his nose and cheek. He had such a positive attitude and inspired me to go to a dermatologist. I got every mole and freckle checked, which took and very long time because I have alot of them;) My dermatologist recommended the removal of one suspicious looking tiny mole on the back of my leg. I got it removed 3 months ago and luckily it wasn’t cancerous. I am really happy I’m being proactive and making smart decisions for my future.

There is no reason to put yourself at risk for a tan. There are many wonderful bronzing and self tanning products out there! The lotions with self tanner are the most user friendly and provide a gradual color you can control. I hope tanning salons will start focusing on spray tanning and alternatives to tanning beds and make spray tanning more affordable then tanning beds. They should feel that responsibility! There are more tanning salons then Starbucks in the country!!

I know I wrote a novel here, but this is very important for me to get the right information out to you.

Yesterday, I was in New York attending the first annual Cosmo’s Practice Safe Sun Awards. I received an award for taking a stand against indoor tanning and I’m happy that I had a chance to speak about this really important cause. I definitely feel a responsibility to my fans being known as “the California beach girl,” and I needed to reach out and bring awareness and the right information about the dangers of tanning-specifically tanning beds.

I have first-handedly experienced the misinformation that is out there about tanning beds. I was told they were better and safer than getting an outdoor tan and that this bed was better for you then that bed, etc. It caused a lot of frustration for me with my job. I was required to be tan most of the year and would get specific phone calls from clients double checking that I had a tan. I wanted to make everyone happy and wanted to believe that I was making the best choice by going to tanning salons. After reading an article in Cosmo magazine, about women getting melanoma and dying in their 20’s, I never went back to a tanning bed. It’s been 4 years since I’ve gone to a tanning bed. Melanoma is very serious and not a walk in the park. Your chances of getting melanoma increase by 75% if you’ve gone to a tanning bed before the age of 30!

At my autograph signings, I see very young girls who I can tell are addicting to tanning. It’s really sad when I see this and I want people to know that if I look tan, it’s fake. I’ve had makeup artists tell me my skin is better now than when I was 24 because I’ve stopped going to tanning beds and am really good about using SPF daily.

Supermodel MARISA MILLER was once fired from her grandfather's company - for accidentally flashing her naval at co-workers.

The U.S. stunner, who now strips off for Sports Illustrated and other top publications, was working as a secretary to make a little extra money as a teenager when her granddad called her into his office.

She recalls, "I was reaching up to put something away in a cabinet... and he saw my belly button, so I get called into the office... and he said, 'You're dressed really inappropriately. This is a professional environment and I saw your belly button.'

"I was like, 'Grandpa, I was, like, totally stretched out. It's not like I'm wearing a crop-top or something!' But he fired me."

Brooklyn is this year's cover girl for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She recently talked to Glamour magazine about what made her famous. She explained, "I got successful once I accepted I'm athletic, I have boobs. I set my own standard."

Marisa, meanwhile, was recently voted the "Sexiest Woman in the World" by FHM online users. She recently talked about being fired by her grandpa when she was a teenager for showing too much skin at work. Come on, I had to go with the swimsuit model.

But the truth is I just adore this Herve Leger dress. ADORE. It’s entirely appropriate for the event and her perfect body makes it pop but it’s the detailing in the pattern that gets me.

They kinda look like crisscrossing veins or computer wires but in an entirely fashionable way. Fashion forward and winning.

And she knows.

On Saturday night, I attended the Guys Choice Awards. It’s a really fun show because it’s not up-tight and pretty much anything goes. A lot of things happen there that would never happen at any other awards show! The names of the award categories are pretty funny, for example, in 2008, I won the award for “Hot N’ Fresh,” which I still have no idea what that actually means.

This year, I got to present Shaun White with the “Chairman of the Board” award. When I met him on the red carpet, I noticed he was limping and walking with a cane. He told me he rolled his ankle skateboarding- but the cane was actually really working for him- haha!

The show airs on June 20th on Spike TV!

Marisa Miller Loved How Loud Her Bike Sounded

For those of you who didn’t see it, for my entrance on the Lopez Tonight show, I rode out on stage on my Nightster. I thought it was really cool that the Lopez Tonight crew wanted to do something fun and different for my segment. I, of course, immediately said yes, I’d love to do that! I honestly didn’t think twice about it until I told my friends what I was planning on doing, which then ensued a barrage of texts and emails saying I’m crazy for riding my bike out on stage in front of a live studio audience! Then I started to think, maybe I am crazy… Nah;)

It was a little nerve racking doing a 90 degree turn at 5 mph out on stage (It’s much easier going faster!). But I loved how loud my bike sounded in an enclosed space! It was the Memorial Day special and I was feeling patriotic, so my friends at As Is clothing made me an American flag bandeau top and t-shirt for the show.

George Lopez is awesome! He is so funny and obviously very talented. I love his sense of humor and I’m so happy he is having such great success with his show. It was definitely one of my favorites!

This is the man-his name is Richard Christoph. He designed the Harley Davidson Nightster, which is the bike I ride. I love the old-school look and style of this bike. It’s simple, bare-bones, gritty and has a lot of attitude. I got a chance to meet Rich and the rest of the HD design crew a few months ago on a trip to the Harley Davidson headquarters in Milwaukee. It was absolutely incredible.

There are a lot of secrets going on in that building. I’m not allowed to say what goes on in there- but let’s just say I feel really confident about being able to ride my bike hard. So much goes into making these bikes what they are and it makes me appreciate them even more!

On why she exercises:

“I’m comfortable with the curves I have. I like having a woman’s body . . . It’s not like I’m exercising to be skinny — I’m the girl who needs curves. I like my butt and boobs!”

Miller’s workout secrets:

“I’ve tried everything. I like surfing: it’s spiritual and physical . . . I also like Spinning. It’s nice toning for your rear and legs. I'll put in one of my favourite Guns N’ Roses music video DVDs and start pedaling. I find it’s a lot simpler to work out when I can distract myself with something visual.”

On her largest dietary weakness:

“Definitely ice cream.”

On what she stays away from—most of the time:

“Processed stuff….Recently, I came back from a long trip and [my husband had] gone grocery shopping—which was lovely, but it was all TV dinners and Cap’n Crunch. I said, ‘Honey, is there a fruit or vegetable anywhere in the house?’ And he’s like, ‘I got canned peaches!’ God bless him, but he doesn’t make it simple for me.”

When it comes to a flawless figure, Marisa Miller comes close – however the Victoria's Secret tremendous model insisted that she is had to work her booty off big-time to get back in bikini shape since getting married to Hollywood producer Griffin Guess over few years ago.

"I put on plenty of weight after getting married. My husband is tall & skinny & can eat whatever they wishes,” he told Tarts at a recent Victoria’s Secret event poolside at Westwood's W Hotel. “Of work I thought I could eat whatever I need to, but no, it doesn’t work like that."

"Luckily I have plenty of motivation with my job, its important to do something everyday. Every time you are you able to ought to do something because it’s hard to get in to summer & then play a whole bunch of catch-ups. I travel with resistance bands, I box a lot, I spin & I surf – I attempt to mix it up & make it fun so my body doesn’t get bored,” he said. “But it is lovely to keep the curves, it’s not about being tremendous skinny."

But think it or not, when Miller first started out in the modeling industry, those killer curves were actually a disadvantage (he said the stylists would tape down her bountiful breasts for picture shoots) & it’s taken a long time for the blonde bombshell to overcome her insecurity issues & embrace her God-given body.

"Growing up I was incredibly shy, I was such a tomboy. I was always wearing baggy pants & giant t-shirts. I was , self-conscious of my body," she added. "So a lot has changed for me personally & Victoria’s Secret has helped with that. All of us have things we’re self-conscious about, I’m not the tallest model in the world & when I started having curves it was hard for me."

I co-hosted a 1920’s themed charity gala for the Young Survival Coalition on Thursday night in New York. This is an wonderful organization that supports females who are diagnosed with breast cancer under 40. They do fabulous work & I desired to get involved because I couldn’t think how small awareness & information is out there & that females under 40, can & do get breast cancer. It is sometimes more agressive when developed at a more youthful age & they know that with treating cancer, early detection is key.

I met some wonderful females last night who are survivors & shared with me their tales. All of them said the YSC helped them make positive they weren’t going through it alone.

Girls, do your self exams one times a month & listen to your body. In case you feel like something is wrong, go get it checked out. Receive a second opinion if your doctor isn’t receptive to your health concerns. Regrettably, I heard from females in their 20’s & 30’s say their doctors brushed concerns off because of their age.
