AMF Alcort Sunfish Sailboat. Very Low Reserve, Very Good Shape. Made Before 1989

For sale is 14 foot AMF Alcort Sunfish sail boat, it needs a new sale which is $135 new online. There are some marks in the fiberglass nothing major and is still ready to hit the water once sail is purchased. I believe all the rigging to be there. The dagger-board and rudder just been refinished in a dark stain and 5 coats of long drying polyurethane, which is better for the water. There is no picture of the rudder yet because I still need to give it one more layer, but will be done in time for pickup. I am unsure of the year but it is pre 1989 because it has the metal trim. There is a 2 little patches faint blue paint on the front, from the tarp laying on it some must have rubbed off. But I will try to remove that.Any questions just ask. check out my other items for sale.

1989 MacGregor 26D Sailboat With Trailor And Extras Beautiful!!

The MacGregor
26 evolved after the Venture 22 and the MacGregor 25, which had been
built from 1973 to about 1987. The M25 had a weighted centerboard keel like other trailerable sailboats
but featured positive flotation, a low price, easy trailerability, and a
comfortable interior with enclosed head (porta-potty). These features carried
forward into M26 models and helped made MacGregor one of the bestselling sailboats.

The MacGregor
26D (daggerboard), built from about 1986 to 1990, introduced water ballast
to replace the weighted keel. When the water was drained for trailering, the
boat weighed only 1650 lbs, making it even more attractive for towing with a
regular automobile. The daggerboard, like a keel, helps prevent the boat from
being blown sideways but could be lifted up for shoal water and trailering.
This design, I personally feel is superior to the swing keel design which
appeared in some later models.

The boat being sold was purchased 3 years ago from the
second owner in the Winston-Salem, NC area. He had purchased it from the
original owner in Florida. Since I purchased the boat I did several upgrades:

I
added a double battery box under the seat in the galley area along with a
switch and new fuse panel with dual battery tester.I
added a new marine dual battery charger/conditioner.I
added a GFCI plug in the galley area that is wired to the AC input on the
stern of the boat which I also installed. This allows small cooking
appliances along with the battery maintainer to be plugged easily while
moored.I
installed a horn and forward facing spot light for mooring at night
controlled from a switch panel in the rear of the boat. I
installed a set of switches for controlling the lights and horn along with
a 12 volt plug. The switch was installed into a sealed electrical box with
the wires consealed within electrical conduit to prevent issues of
electrical spark in the rear compartment.I
installed a new stainless steel 6 connector deck plug to facilitate the
new connections on the mast. This was a heavy duty marine grade plug that
screws together and seals with o-rings.I
built a mast raising winch based on the manufacturer’s design, but which
is in two sections making it easier to stow below deck when not in use.I
replaced many of the blocks which has been weather damaged with new ones
and all of the lines have been replaced.I
installed a new portapotti as the existing one was original and had
developed some cracks from age.

A 6 hp motor is available, but since it is brand new, it is
being sold separately see listing. The boat includes all necessary
rigging for the fore sail and main sail. It includes the standard Mac26 main
sail, a storm jib and a genoa. The genoa has a minor rip, which has been
patched with sail tape, and some weather damage. All the sails are fine for
inland sailing. There are several other minor things that I’m including
(cup-holders, fender bumpers etc) that I’m not listing just to try and keep
this short.

I am selling this boat due to my relocating as a result of a
new job and do not have a nearby lake for sailing. The boat sails great and is
in full working condition. It has a few issues that I have not been able to
address due to the suddenness of my move that the new owner may wish to deal
with. A few of the deck fittings need to be caulked to prevent water leaking.
This is minor and results in some water trickling in during hard rains. I
purchased a tube of marine caulk to do the job and never had the chance to do
it. There is also some problem with the connects for the horn and new spot light
which I have not been able to trace out. All other electrical items work fine
including the navigation lights.
