Dear friends, readers, and visitors;

I have made the decision to bring the curtain down on AllAmericanQueer on December 31, 2009.

These nine years have been filled with all the interesting details that encompassed the century that was the 2000’s. I’m not interested in taking a look back, as the decade was too long occupied by wars and right-wing lunacy of all stripes.

I do want to thank you for sharing this past decade’s journey with me, as full of warts as it was.

With the move into the 2010’s – I’m taking on a new set of personal challenges to take my writing, and photography to their next levels.

Cheers to a better decade ahead!

Could an e-Marriage be the next big thing?

A pair of law professors at Michigan State University think that States should extend to Marriage licensing, the same servicing they do to say, business licensing. The parties involved in the contract need not reside in the state, nor even visit the state to obtain the legal protections provided by the laws of the state.

So could we be hearing commericals on OutQ in the near future for LegalZoom gay marriage licenses?

Just like you can incorporate a business in another state to take advantage of their favorable tax laws, why shouldn’t you be able to take advantage of their favorable Marriage laws?

A simple financial windfall for Iowa, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or New Hampshire (starting Jan 1, 2010) is awaiting the state willing to brave the new e-Marriage frontier.

I’m marching this weekend in DC because I’m tired, really really tired.

I’m tired of waiting for things like the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes legislation to become law. This Monday will be 11 years since his murder, and the time for enacting this legislation is pathetically overdue.

I’m tired of the fact that discharges under Don’t Ask Don’t Tell continue to destroy the careers of patriotic, honorable, and decorated women and men in our military, and make our nation less secure, and less free.

I’m tired of watching injustices like Proposition 8 occur, and all the state constitutions that have been amended by the false belief that a simple majority vote of any one group of citizens can take away the rights of another group of citizens.

I’m tired of the fact that my fellow GLBT citizens in a majority of the United States are forced to remain in the closet because being Out can be used to justify firing them.

And I’m damn sick and tired of inhuman outrages like the one recently in Florida of the lesbian partner denied visitation to her dying partner’s hospital bedside.

I’m marching this weekend to demonstrate my commitment to put an end to the second class treatment dished out by the patchwork of state laws that continue to deny us our full equality.

The Congress and the President have the majority power to make right the wrongs that exist in the laws of this land.

The time for action and to make this change is NOW.

That’s WHY I’m marching!
