The second day of MWC 2013 arrived and one can't say there has been a storm of big news yet. Nokia published another wave of colorful new Lumia devices and re-branded their location services as HERE. Other brands like Asus also presented some nice, but not outstanding hardware while Mozilla published some more details about their Firefox OS. The release of Jolla's Sailfish OS SDK is certainly the biggest news for MeeGo users and tonight we also get to listen to Marc Dillon's keynote.

With the beginning of MWC 2013, Jolla released their Salfish SDK along with a revamped sailfish.org website. Currently those developer tools are available to Linux users - Mac and Windows users need to have some more patience.

The new website contains a lot of information about Jolla's mobile system, it's design & navigation principles and vision behind the project.

Notes on Nokia N9 is a simple kept note taking app which misses one important feature: A possibility to back up, or copy your notes. ExNote by Tomasz Pieniazek is a perfect imitation of the original system tool but saves all the notes you take in MyDocs as HTML files.

Hence it's possible to access or copy your notes via USB connection mass-storage mode.

Via Twitter, Jolla indirectly confirmed today that no Jolla device, operating Sailfish OS, will be announced or presented on February 25-28 at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona. Apparently Jolla wants to focus on meeting key partners and only presents the Sailfish SDK via pre-arranged meeting. The actually device will be announced at a later moment.
MeeGons are very known within the MeeGo community. The simple, funny, colorful characters were created by the former British design company airside on behalf of MeeGo (trademark of Linux Foundation). Since Nokia distanced itself from the open-source MeeGo project, those cartoons never were officially associated with Nokia's MeeGo Harmattan.
The general reception for Nokia N9's hardware and software (button-less swipe-UI) has been very positive. Let's have a look at N9's hardware design in part 1 of our 2 articles: Where does it come from?

Markets are flooded with various tablet computers - yet I couldn't find the right one. The Android or Windows 8 user interface doesn't convince me and iOS (iPads) feels extremely outdated. Hence I asked myself a couple times:

What would a MeeGo Harmattan tablet computer look like?

Thanks to Photoshop and some imagination I got at least a virtual one.

Nokia's Pulse had similarities with the famous Foursquare application (available for Nokia N9) and let users send private messages that were automatically tagged with their current location.
...despite missing video calls. Compared to Android, iPhone and Windows Phone, MeeGo Harmattan probably has the most invisible, to a certain degree imperfect Skype client of them all. Despite that, it's the best one.

Why? - On Nokia N9 Skype works the way it's supposed to run on a smartphone.

The award winning SoundHound application is now available for Nokia N9 under the name SoundWave thanks to Bojan Komljenovic (developer of Dropian & part of Wazapp team). SoundHound is an music recognition software similar to its equivalent Shazam.

With the application it's possible to identify a song title by humming, singing or playing a recorded track.

It seems that this year, Jolla will be part of it in a keynote.

We all should know it: Never loose or forget the device's lock-password (not the SIM Code, but the code for the system). If that happened, there wouldn't be a way to access your N9 anymore - even USB storage mode would be gone. Even user-data preventing firmware flash doesn't erase the password.

It has been exactly 1 year since the very first article on this website. It all started with the idea to write an easy understandable tutorial about using Nokia Ovi Suite with the N9 (wasn't officially supported) - one I couldn't find anywhere on the internet. Followed by an article about using iTunes to synchronize songs; A solution I had to come up with, since somehow my N9 and NokiaLink didn't become friends at first.

Youtube is the home of many Nokia N9 videos. Advertisements, reviews and support video's from various sources - official and unofficial ones - are available.

We tried to collect the best of them and arranged them into different categories on our YouTube page. Thereby we discovered some nice uploads.

The curiosity about Jolla and their Sailfish OS is high. Thus it's no surprised that Jolla is being overwhelmed with questions about their operation system, product releases, compatibility with Nokia N9 and more.

We picked out some of the best frequently asked questions & answers from Jolla's official Twitter account and listened them here.

Shareboard by Anand Bibek is a small application for Nokia N9 which allows users to update their Facebook status or post a message on Twitter within one application.

The application starts up very fast and optionally can post the same message automatically on both social networks.

Evernote is a very popular notetaking application to access any kind of notes at any place - offline or online. There have been attempts by 3rd party developers to create an client for Nokia N9 but without any convincing results.

Now we finally get to enjoy "Notekeeper" - a successful Symbian application which has been ported to MeeGo Harmattan.
A software developer quoted an email from Nokia on Maemo.org, stating that Nokia Store (former Ovi Store) will lose billing support on Nokia N9 in China.

This means that all paid content will be removed from the store since certain content can't be billed anymore.
You might know Desktoppr, a website which collects some of the best desktop wallpapers available on the net.

Developer B. Hervier created an small application, called Wleux, which brings that collection to your N9. With such a huge choice of wallpapers, your phone's lock-screen won't look boring ever again.

It's been over a year since the public release of Nokia N9 and still: The hardware design is an eye-catcher. But not only the look counts. Factors like usability, quality & durability become very important in long-term use. Even the most careful owner probably spots traces of usage on his phone by now. Our question is:

How would you redesign the Nokia N9?

A big amount of note-taking and reminder applications can be found in Nokia Store. But there is at least one which stands out among others: "PinIt! Lists" by a developer called Work by jookos.

PinIt! isn't only a nifty application, it actually gives you the possibility to pin preferred reminders to your phone's lockscreen.

A blogger from N9-loyal website "Everything N9" created a wonderful keyboard modification for UK and US users.

In many hours of work, the main keyboard including both symbol layers were improved. Keys weren't only replaced but also adjusted in size and alignment. A nice feature also are the usually missing arrows.

Nokia published a new beta version (v.3.7.12) of Nokia Suite which adds Windows 8 support and let's you sync your phone with Microsoft Office 2013.

In case you want to stick to the previous official Nokia Suite version, there is a solution to make it run on Windows 8.
