I thought I would have been able to get this out before 2019 had ended but I was not able to lol
I could write reflective post about the year but now that we are in 2020, which sounds even weird to say it's time to move forward..

Anyways here were my favorites of 2019!!!

MOVIES:

Crazy Rich Asians- I watched this at the very beginning of the year and it's one that I feel will be a classic rom com that you can watch over and over again. The characters are fun and the scenery is beautiful. The wedding scene is absolutely breathtaking...

Happy Death Day/Happy Death Day 2 U- I combined these because I was very skeptical about the first movie but it was on free HBO so I figured why not see what this is and usually these groundhog day type movies can get monotonous fast but this one was just so fun! Tre is such a bitch in the beginning but you grow to love her and it was the one movie where I couldn't guess the killer and the second movie is just a unique way to do a sequel.

Detective Pikachu- This might have been the best film of the year for me... Pikachu is adorable and voiced by Ryan Reynolds. The plot is fun and the twist ending was great! If you haven't seen this movie please watch it!

Ralph Breaks The Internet- I only included this one because of the scene with the Disney Princesses.. and it made me cry.

Avengers End Game- What a way to end an era.. I can't wait to see what Marvel does next but this one had everybody in it and I appreciated how they added just enough for each of them to do.

I, Tonya- I was late to the game with this movie as well.. Margot Robbie was brilliant, Allison Janney was brilliant. It was just a well acted movie and you saw a character not just Margot playing a character.

This was one of those albums that I would play non stop. 7 Rings I was obsessed with for a very long time and this record had all the bops on it Imagine, Needy, Bad Idea, Makeup. Just loved them all.

Halsey- Badlands- I was late to the Halsey train, but I actually really enjoyed listening to her catalog of songs this year. Colors, Castle. Even her new stuff Graveyard is very good.

Dua Lipa- I LOVE Dua!! I can't wait for her new album to come out. Don't Start Now is such a disco jam.

Taylor Swift- Lover- What a lovely experimental album from Taylor. Me! and You Need To Calm Down are fun commercial songs but the meat of this record is Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, Death By A Thousand Cuts and London Boy.

Jonas Brothers- Happiness Begins- The comeback of the year goes to the Jo Bros. Seriously they came back with such a vengeance Sucker, Cool and Only Human all amazing!

TV SHOWS:

Letterkenny- I love this stupid show. It's very funny and the characters are all great. It's a very quotable show.

The Umbrella Academy- This was a fun show! Can't wait for S2

The Politician- I took a chance on this show because I didn't think I was going to like it but I binged this show in one day because it keeps you hooked.

Masked Singer- I know it's dumb but it's so intriguing!!

The Mandalorian- BABY YODA.

High School Musical The Series: Another show I was hesitant to watch but it fills the void for Glee.

Dollface- Strange show but it's pretty funny. Has a great cast of girls Kat Dennings, Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell.

ABH Rivera Palette- Loved this palette! It's such a fun switch up from your regular old nude palette and it's pigmented and has gorgeous shimmers!
Colourpop Main Squeeze- I love all the monochromatic palettes but this is such a fun way to use red shadows and not feel weird about it. I used this one a lot during the summer and got many compliments.
L'Oreal True Match Lumi Shake and Glow- I got this recommend from Kathleenlights. What a beautiful spray to use in the summer. It's light and gives your skin that inner glow.
Makeup Revolution Conceal and Hydrate Foundation- New to my collection but I already know it's going to be a favorite when I want a luminous moment.
Colourpop Pretty Fresh Concealer- YES! Finally a concealer that matches my skin tone that is hydrating enough for my dry under eyes.

NOSTALGIA

This year I found a lot of nostalgia centered podcasts that I love and continue to listen to:

Big Orange Couch- These guys are great! I love talking about 90's Nick and they keep you laughing through each episode.
Office Ladies Pod- Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey talking about The Office.. Sign me up!
Another Man's Nostalgia- Another fun podcast where these guys revisit TV and movies from our childhood and they are very funny and have many hot takes.
Legend's Only- Bradley and T.Kyle are back and talking about all the Diva legends. Amazing content, not everyone has that.

Rocko's Modern Static Cling- I never thought that this movie would ever see the light of day, but it came out on Netflix a few months ago and it did not disappoint! A great modern take on a 90's classic.

Disney +- Disney plus was one of the greatest things ever created... I don't even have to explain why..

Of course I had to do a look inspired by Lady Gaga at the Golden Globes. I finally got to see A Star is Born and I was so disappointed... Gaga and Bradley Cooper were fantastic but I hated the plot and the ending and I think it really gives a bad message. (I don't want to spoil the end for anyone...)

I used the Colourpop Fame palette because it was the ideal cool toned palette and this look is very cool toned.

Lid- As a base, I used Wet N Wild Catsuit in Camel. Using the Fame Palette I mixed Privy, Piece of Me and Lifestyle With Supernova Shadow in Lucky Penny on the center of the lid.
Crease- I used the Fame Palette colors and smoked them out on the crease.
Highlight- Centerstage
Liner- On top I used Cargo liner in Black Sea with Lifestyle smoked. I can't remember what I used on the lower lash but it was from the same palette. In the waterline I used Cry Baby liner from Colourpop.

At the time Colourpop had just come out with the It's My Pleasure 9 pan palette but now Colourpop is the company that never rests and they have already came out with a red, blue, yellow and now orange palette. They also just came out with a Strawberry palette.

It's My Pleasure is a beautiful palette, that since then I have been using and almost hitting pan on.

Another new product that I had tried was the Maybelline Snapscara and it was the burgundy shade. I really enjoyed this mascara because it was so easy to take off!

Superbowl Sunday: LA Rams

I have been gone for a long time... I'm so sorry! We moved into our apartment at the beginning of May and this whole blog has fallen by the wayside. Luckily I have content that I have already been working on and I hope to come back with more frequent updates.

Here is the look from this years Superbowl. If you didn't know the New England Patriots won this year and another victory for Tom Brady.. Maroon 5 did the halftime show and it was terrible. I love Maroon 5 but they were not a good choice...

The commercials were so-so. My favorites were the Pepsi Cardi B and Doritos commerical with BSB and Chance the Rapper. Other than that nothing else was very notable.

My look was inspired by the colors of the LA Rams.

I told myself that I wasn't going to by the Colourpop X Bretman Rock palettes.. because at the time I was kinda on a no buy but after watching swatch videos and running out of my eye brow pencil and I think they were on sale for a minute (Ok I probably would have bought it regardless.. ) but the Wet palette was just calling my name and the metallics were so good! So I bought it.

I love the way this look turned out and I've been really impressed with this palette and I have been using it non stop.

A Little Bit Of Tinsel

Another project of mine is to use up my old Colourpop Super Shock shadows.. I'm talking like old, from the 1st Christmas collection.. we're talking now probably 5 years old but surprisingly they are still creamy with the exception of Halo in the set. Tinsel was the star of this look, which was a beautiful metallic purple. I paired it with the Chasing Rainbows palette.

I have also been trying to use up foundations that have been sitting in the drawer so I gave my Covergirl Vitalist another go. It's still way too dark so I mixed it with my Super Stay.

I have to be real with myself and admit that I have too many eye shadow palettes. Some I use all the time and then there's some that don't really get a ton of love. It's not that they are bad quality, I just never really reach for them. This look was inspired by the forgotten palette from Pretty Vulgar. I purchased this palette because it reminded me of Pretty Little Liars. The names of the eye shadows were what really appealed to me and Pretty Vulgar was a new brand at Sephora so I had to try something from the line.

I also have been trying to pan bronzer/face palettes specifically the Flower Beauty, Lorac Tantalizer and Wet N Wild palettes. Which you will see prominent in the next few posts. Sadly I can't remember what lip stick I used.

2018 Favorites List

We have 4 more days until 2019. How weird does that sound? 2018 wasn't the greatest year but there was some great times and things to be thankful for.

First off at the beginning of the year, we got our puppy Freddie Prince! It has been a joy to watch him grow and discover the world around him. Watching him open his bark boxes each month and taking him shopping. We took him to Bark on Biddle during the summer which was so much fun!

Travis had his graphic novel Detroit Exorcist come out and we have done some really cool events in Detroit to promote it. He just released Part II and you can buy both on Amazon now!

Started partaking in Trivia Nights- specializing in Friends and Gossip Girl and ran my 2nd 5K inflatable run.

Got to live with my honey for a bit over the summer, which gets me so excited for the future and I leased my 1st car this year a Chevy Malibu.

New Girl ended this year which is sad but the ending was just perfect. Same with Once Upon a Time.. even though the last season was annoying at times, the end was great.

Just like every year this is the time where I reflect on 2018 pop culture and what I'm looking forward to in 2019. These are in no particular order just my favorites of 2018.

MOVIES

The Greatest Showman- Talk about a massive film that I wish I could have seen in the theatre because of how epic the numbers were and the effects. I love the choreography, especially the bar scene with Zac and Hugh. The soundtrack is phenomenal.

Black Panther- With all the hype surrounding this movie it really didn't disappoint. Wakanda was a beautiful place and it had a great cast of ass kicking ladies. Probably one of the best Marvel movies.

Venom- It was dismissed by the critics but I really loved this movie! I thought Tom Hardy was great and the relationship with Venom was funny and fun.

Coco- I am late to seeing Coco, I watched this on Netflix and omg what a special movie. It hits you in all the feels and Mama Coco... ugh my heart.

A Quiet Place- I am not a huge fan of Horror genre but this movie was fantastic! John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were amazing and this movie was actually terrifying in some parts and the end just gets you in the feels..

Bohemian Rhapsody- LOVE Freddie Mercury. Rami Malek had better get something for his performance because it was spot on.

Fifty Shades Freed- Is this a cinematic masterpiece? no it's not but it's a hell of a good time and the soundtrack is amazing. They really did wrap up the end in a nice little bow though.

Game Night- Hilarious! Jesse Plemmons character is so creepy and ridiculous.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again- I love this one more than the first one. The numbers were so good and the casting was perfect and Lily James was my summer aesthetic this year.

Night School- Tiffany Hadish and Kevin Hart hyjinks what could be more fun then that?

Honorable Mentions:

Avengers Infinity War- It was cool seeing all the Marvel Characters come together again but the ending made me leave it off my top 10 list.

Ready Player One- It was a really different kind of movie that was entertaining but it was just a lot of movie crammed into one but the little Easter eggs were fun to find.

TV

The Resident- Emily Van Camp is in it so you know it's going to be a great show. In fact it's the only medical show that I watch and it's just so good!

Manifest- Never watched Lost and that is what a lot of people compare this show to... The story is really intriguing.

God Friended Me- Really cute show! They need more family friendly shows like this on TV.

Good Girls- Great Cast and great times.. it was a fun ride.

Imposters- I started watching this show on Netflix and I was so sad to hear it got cancelled and didn't really leave with a satisfying ending.

Assassination of Gianni Versace- Ohh Darren Criss was an absolute show stopper in this.. so creepy and deranged. He deserves all the awards.

Queer Eye- Obsessed and waiting on pins and needles for Season 3!!

The Neighborhood- Fun show and a reverse take on All in the Family. It's very funny though..

All American- Based on a true story it's a pretty good teen drama about football

Nailed It!- Very entertaining!

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina- A lot darker than Melissa John Hart's Sabrina but it's a solid story.

American Housewife- Really funny show, wish I would have watched it sooner.

Honorable Mentions:

You- I would have added this to the top shows because it was very good and Penn Badgley was so creepy. Can't wait to see Season 2.

Happy Together- I'm sad this is getting canceled. I enjoyed the chemistry between Damon Wayans Jr. and Amber Stevens and the side characters were funny.

MUSIC

Sofi Tukker- Best Friend:The first new song that I heard this year and it's always stuck with me.
Bruno Mars Ft. Cardi B- Finesse: Another great song with an awesome In Living Color inspired music video.
Kane Brown Ft. Lauren Alaina- What Ifs: Really got into country this year, this song is just so good
Anne-Marie- 2002: Love this song!! What a walk down memory lane.
DJ Snake Ft. Selena Gomez and Cardi B- Taki Taki: This song is just a fun bop!
5 Seconds of Summer- Youngblood: This song is such a jam. I'm looking forward to listening to more of their songs
Maroon 5- Girls Like You: Another favorite of the year that was overplayed but fun to sing along to

ALBUMS

Fifty Shade Freed- I love the Fifty Shades soundtracks so much! Even more so the movies. Haliee Steinfeld's Capital Letters is so dreamy and For You by Rita Ora and Liam Payne is your typical 50 shades song. Heaven by Julia Michaels and The Wolf by The Spencer Lee Band

Camila Cabello- First off I know Sangria Wine was not on the album but it was the Summer anthem. Never Be The Same, Consequences, Real Friends and She Loves Control are all bops in their own right.

Carrie Underwood- She always knocks it out of the park with her records. Carrie always finds a way to tell a story with her songs.

Ariana Grande- Sweetner. Sweetner. Sweetner. Looking forward to the next record. Thank You, Next. The most epic video of the year...

Shawn Mendes- I think I have listened to the album more than the others. Nervous is such a jam. In My Blood is epic. Lost in Japan. It's all good and Justin Timberlake should be taking notes.

Mean Girls Broadway Soundtrack- I would LOVE to see this show live but for now I will settle for listening to the songs..

Carly Rae Jepsen- I was shocked at how good this album was. She's got a great 80's influenced album.

FASHION

Lupita Nyong'o- The Black Panther red carpets were fantastic. I could pick more outfits from the year but these three were my favorite.

Allison Janney- Such a classy lady. I love her as an actress but she really slayed Awards season and I Tonya premieres.

Nicole Kidman- Another lady that I love to see what she's wearing on the Red Carpet. Always gives of the Bewitched vibes and I love her for that.

Dakota Johnson- I loved these glitter moments of 2018 of Dakota Johnson. She's such a beautiful hippie when she wants to be.

Cate Blanchett- Always the risk taker. You never know what you are going to get with Cate and that's exciting.

Fab Five- 2018 was the year of Queer Eye and the Fab Five. They are so perfect!

Anna Faris- She's unqualifiihihihi unqualified. Anna! I love listening to Anna Faris's podcast she has such a great lineup of guests and always makes me laugh.

MAKEUP

Bobbi Brown Face Base- This is an expensive product but it is great for dry skin. Smells wonderful and lays makeup down beautifully.
Maybelline Super Stay Foundation- Not too matte but stays on my face and doesn't look cakey. I got the most compliments when I wore this foundation
Colourpop No Filter Stix- Finally a stick foundation that is affordable and doesn't look too matte on my dry skin.
Too Faced Born This Way Sculpting Concealer- I have been using the heck out of this concealer and it's great
Colourpop Face Powder and Hourglass Vanish Powder- Both really great loose powders
Milk Kush Mascara- LOVE! It conditions lashes and builds volume.
Smashbox Cali Contour- Beautiful shades of contour and bronzer. The highlight is a little dark for my skin tone but this was a staple in the Summer.
Colourpop Palettes- Perception, Good Sport, Oh La La, Chasing Rainbows... pretty much all the palettes that were released this year were fantastic!
Colourpop Supernova shadows- Great alternative to the Stila glitters and definitely more affordable.
BH Cosmetics Weekend Festival Palette- Beautiful!
Glam Glow Super Clearing Mud Mask- a charcoal mask that you can actually see suck toxins out of your pores.

NOSTALGIA

Drake- I'm Upset: YES! Degrassi reunions are the best and this music video was such a treat!

Jersey Shore Family Vacation: Love them or hate them, it's fun to watch and who doesn't get wrapped up in the Jersey drama.

Boy Meets World Cast at Comic Con: Ugh, the 8 year old in me was dying to be at this thing lol

25th Anniversary Sandlot Cast: One of my favorite movies..

Shanae Grimes with Annalynne McCord, Matt Lanter, and Cassie Steele: On Shanae's Youtube channel she has been doing throwback episodes with actors from her old shows and it was so much fun to watch

I know that I say this a lot especially about Colourpop palettes, but this is hands down one of their best palettes they have ever made. The color story of this palette is just so stunning and perfect for fall.

Another great collab with Colourpop is the Kathleen Lights Zodiac Collection, which I love the lip sticks in that collection. Scorpio Moon is such a flattering purple shade

20 years ago, I was over at my best friends house and we had just gotten home from school. Being a typical tween of that time, we would sit and watch TRL, where they would show a countdown of the best music videos. There was also times where new artists would come on and premiere their music videos. That day a young Britney Spears showed her music video for her song ...Baby One More Time and it was something so fresh and so fun for that time. I had a feeling that she was going to go places in that moment. I was right.

A few years ago I did an inspired look by this music video, the scene where she is in the gym and tbh I was not happy with how it turned out. I thought it would be fun to try and recreate it again.

What better palette to use than the Dose of Colors Desi X Katy Friendcation palette. Ugh you guys, this palette is so good!! The mattes are heavenly and the shimmers are hot fire...

I really love the Colourpop Lux lip sticks. The formula is so comfortable and it's so incredibly pigmented. Colourpop dropped their Disney Designer collab pretty recently and of course I bought the palette and I wanted to get all the lipsticks but I actually ended up getting the Belle one because the other colors looked like something I had already had in my collection. Belle is such a pretty color for fall and it's dark enough to make a statement but still very wearable.

With this look I really wanted grunge dirty eye and really smoked it out.

Also KL Polish in Jane is such a gorgeous shade of nail polish.

I just wanted to share some of my looks this year for Halloween.. I like to pick a few looks each year and these were the ones I picked.

VENOM: One of the most time consuming of the looks this year, especially the mouth. I wanted a glam look on the other side and I love the way it all came together.

GLITTER TEARS: This was my look for Halloween night passing out candy. I wanted to do something and I was inspired by Carrie Underwood's Cry Pretty Album cover.

CORPSE BRIDE: This look was really fun! The blue face paint was the hardest to stay on. I tried this Wet N Wild palette and it wasn't all that great.

FOX: Trav and I went out for Halloween Weekend and I decided to be a fox this year and I ratted my hair into ears which was a pain to get out but we had a great time and I loved my Kiss lashes.

Mean Girls day has become an almost national holiday and Colourpop took it upon themselves to release a pink palette called Ohh La La. Since I have to purchase every one of their eye shadow palettes I couldn't pass this up.

This is one has actually become one of my must have palettes. I feel really inspired by the color story and it's just pure fun! Plus they have a shadow named Caddy.. really? How adorable!

I have been getting a kick out of watching Youtube videos where the pets pick out the makeup and I was curious about what Freddie would potentially pick out for me.. it's really funny because this is the first time I did this with him and he was so careful about what he selected. I say this because every time I get ready on the weekends, he sits in my lap and is very interested in the brushes I use and the different products. When I receive a package in the mail, he's right there and he marvels over the fresh makeup swatches. I feel like he really appreciates makeup.

I, of course gave him 4 options to choose from and every time there was a clear winner. (he especially loved the Becca X Chrissy palette.

The star of this look is definitely the Colourpop lippie stix in the shade Scandy. Scandy is a bright pink matte color and it is the pop of color that will brighten everyone's day. One of the shades I am trying to use up because well it's old and Colourpop doesn't even make that shade anymore lol.

I also am trying to use up the Super Shock shade Girly, because again it was one of the first shades I ever bought and I have two of them somehow. Girly is a gorgeous highlight on the brow or inner corner of the eye but I used it on the lid.

It's always exciting when a company comes out with a fun bright palette and not your boring warm tone shades... Violet Voss just came out with Summertime in a palette.The Flamingo palette has such cool unique bright and pastel shades.. I really haven't been able to put this palette down.

I have also been trying to use up some of my old discontinued Colourpop super shock shadows and lippies from when I first ordered from them 4 years ago.. which is probably not safe on my lips but I don't want to waste products so I have been trying to pan older makeup.

Magic in the Mar Palette

Colourpop has done it again! They just release two brand new palettes.. Sol and Mar and actually it's not their newest palette because they just released their Zodiac collection with Kathleen Lights... Which I am so excited to receive in the mail.. but anyway getting back to the Mar palette. I feel a lot more drawn to the teals and blues in this palette even though I love the Sol palettes bronzey fire shades.

I bit the bullet and bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dream Glow Kit, I kept going back and forth with wanting this palette but I think I saw someone on Youtube say this was really good and I don't regret it. Yes, there's glitter in the shades but this is such a fun palette to use especially in the Summer. They are also beautiful inner corner highlights as well..

Evey since Violet Voss teased their new Flamingo Palette I was counting down the days when they were going to release it. This was one of those palettes I bought on pre sale. I'm not disappointed whatsoever. This is such a fun palette fun summer and the shimmers are a foiled formula that is just so bright and bold on the eyes. It would be no surprise to anyone that in May Colourpop dropped a whole brand new Birthday collection. Celebrating 4 years of being a company. I remember 4 years ago I was randomly searching for Indie makeup brands and stumbled along this brand called Colourpop and they had these really cool and unique eye shadows, that were creamy and intense and these things called Lippie Stix and they were so affordable so I made a purchase and after that I started seeing their brand all over Youtube and then they slowly came out with new product like blushes and highlighters and then they just grew to the brand they are today.

Today's look is using their new Fortune palette which is very warm toned with oranges and berry tones and also one of their pressed shadows in the shade Glass Bull, which is so intense and duo chrome it paired really nicely with this look.

Another new addition to their collection is the Hi Shine Ultra Glossy lips and I love this formula!! It makes your lips so juicy and very flattering. Champagne Mami was the color of choice and I'm almost out of this shade, I will definitely be needing a back up soon..

As someone who watched the American Idol reboot, there's something I have to ask... What happened to Katy Perry?? I used to love her when she first came out. Saw her in concert and was blown away by her voice, production and just her artistry.. but for the last year or so I feel like she's trying to figure out who she is as an artist and watching her week by week on Idol, she just seems like she's a hot mess... Has she always been this way and we just never noticed? I don't really know the answer and I hope that she is alright and I always want the best for her and I try to find things that I still really like about her and one thing is clear that she always has the full beat on her face and she always looks flawless.

I picked up one of her eye shadow palettes because they just looked so cute and I grabbed the Cool Kat palette because I already have 50 million warm toned eye shadows and the color selection in the Cool one looked really interesting almost unicorn like with their shimmers and duo chrome shades.

One thing is certain you have to either wet a brush to use the glitter shades or use a glitter glue, which I used the NYX glitter glue which is one of my favorites or the fall out is real with this one.
It really complimented the Colourpop Fame palette being another cool toned palette.

Inifnity War Red Carpet Look

I am a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and pretty every movie they have put out I have loved (with the exception of Iron Man 3.. ) and I was so excited for Avengers Infinity War because this was the ultimate movie where all the movies get together and kick ass.. Don't get me wrong I did love it but I'm only because of the ending of the movie and I won't spoil it for anyone because it was good. I'm just torn I guess..

Anyways Scarlett Johansson's makeup was so much fun on the red carpet, which with her I feel like she goes all out or it's plain natural makeup. This look was done later in the Spring, it kinda got lost in the shuffle but it was still a really pretty pink look. I kinda took more of an inspiration from the look Allan Avendano did on Lucy because I wanted to add some sparkle to the look. I used the Colourpop Supernova shadow in Over Again, which is a hot pink but it has almost a purple flip to it.

I'm still really loving the Weekend Festival Palette from BH Cosmetics, it's such a fun edition to my collection, especially during the summer.

For the lips I used Love Bite, which is an Ultra Blotted lip but it's a soft pink.
