If you haven't seen the trailer for the new movie The Innkeepers, you're missing out.

You've got all the things that make a ghost thriller; naive young girl, her best dude pal, "psychic" person, generic ghost hunting stuff, and of course, the ghosts.

Watching the trailer I almost got a House On Haunted Hill vibe from all the different ghosts. That's not a bad thing either!

You can check out the iTunes featurette here. While there really isn't anything new there, it's kind of cool to get the sound bytes from the cast interspersed throughout the trailer.

I absolutely can not wait for this movie to be released in theaters. I hope you are as excited as we are!

Walking Dead 2, and where the HELL have we been?

No, seriously, where the hell have we been? Has it really been over a year since we wrote anything? Shame on us. On behalf of AHN, I apologize. We are hopefully going to be coming back in a big way soon, so keep checking back for that.

In the mean time, who caught the premier of Season 2 of The Walking Dead on AMC? I did and wow... I was slightly let down...

Just kidding, I loved it. The Herd really had me tensing up. By the end of the episode Sophia was missing and Carl had been shot. I really like the show, but the pace is just glacial. I hope this season speeds things up a bit more than the first season.

The second episode aired and I haven't gotten a chance to see it yet, but I hear it was killer.

On Demand Horror

Over the next couple weeks leading up to Halloween we will be the guinea pigs screening the horror movies offered in your local on demand cable service. Regardless of the provider, comcast, charter, etc... The programming for their on demand feature usually offers the same shit. Instead of you having to sit thru 20 mins of a few shitty movies untill you find a good one, we decided to tell you which ones are worth watching and which arent. First off at the top of the list currently is REC. The original Spanish version of the shittastic "Quarantine". Its by far and beyond a superior film, strangely the makers of Quarantine did a remake almost scene for scene and some how managed to fuck it up... Dont believe us? Just watch, the ending is even 5x scarier. It IS in Spanish but dont worry, if you completed second grade your reading skills should be up to speed with the included English subtitles. So go check it out now! We have a few more on our list so stay tuned.

Long trailer for The Walking Dead (AMC)

A long trailer for The Walking Dead has been released. The series about well... The Walking Dead will be premiered on AMC, Halloween day. The trailer looks like 28 days later and Dawn of the Dead had an undead love child. Is the hospital scene blatantly and lamely ripped from 28 days later? Yes, are we stil excited to see this? Absolutely, and you should be too. The budget appears to be high, which doesnt always matter but it cant hurt. From what we can tell the zombies arent runners but who will know maybe they will be hybrids (Green but not eco-friendly). Check the trailer after the jump and be sure to catch the premier October 31st at 10pm. The premier is said to be 90 minutes, thats like a whole zombie flick in itself.

This is a new section I'm starting called "Unintentionally Terrifying Movies". I will occasionally post a movie that wasnt meant to scare the fuck out of you but did. In a lot of cases these movies arent even considered horror or thriller type movies and thats what makes them even more fucked up. This week I will discuss The Peanut Butter Solution. This movie has haunted me for 24 years (my age minues roughly the age I was when I saw it). I randomly thought about it while trying to fall asleep a few weeks ago so I googled my little hands off until I found it. I was shocked to find out it was a kids movie from Canada, leave it to those sick fucks. It was also funny and relieving to find so many others telling stories of how they have been mentally scarred by this film also. I had started to wonder if it was a bad dream I had as a kid or if this movie really existed. I had nothing to go on but the vague plot.
In The Peanut Butter Solution a kid explores a burnt down house and gets the shit scared out of him to the point of losing his hair. The movie never really shows you what scared him so badly (this is what fucked me up as a toddler, psychological thrillers are NOT meant for children). Then they glue a wig on and some kid rips it off at school(this part also scared me badly) some ghosts make a peanut butter solution (hence the name) to put on his dome that grows him a huge fabio style mop. I know it sounds like its innocent, but trust me its not! Especially when youre two or three years old and your mom rents it at meijer assuming the best (back when they rented movies), it really fuckin scars you. 30 Days of night : dark days

Not sure why we never published this sooner, like a month or two ago.. especially considering we fucking wrote out a preview post and just marked it as a draft. O well, maybe its because it going straight to DVD and we were slightly underwhelmed. Well to be fair, the first was okay and this actually looks okay too. Id say for the vampire movie genre the franchise is pretty interesting. Okay okay, at least its not a shitbag like Twilight. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think. Will you be renting/buying this? The production quality looks almost theater worthy to me. Set for an October 5 release date, we here at AHN will be sure to sit thru it even if we have to force ourselves just to bring you a review.

This trailer is for the upcoming movie SKYLINE. The movie is somewhat prophetic and based on facts which makes it pretty cool in my eyes. The movie plays off the fact that steven hawking, the super cripled super genius theorizes there are aliens in space and we should leave them the fuck alone because if they came they wouldnt be nice. Also NASA is said to have been sending out signals and throwing different shit like records (no really vinyls) into outer space so the aliens can throw on the earth LP and get to know us. Shelter 2010 pre-release review

Shelter is a movie starring Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. It was released in, i think china and maybe a few other countries. And from what I understand it should be released in theaters here in the states in December. Not sure on that tho because the IMDB doesnt have any release dates for the USA. The movie starts off a tiny bit slow but quickly builds suspense for me the first half was SOOO good! The second, was okay, but to me they could have taken in a better direction. Really in the first thirty to fifty minutes I was pretty scared, curious, and really compelled by it. I was thinking "this is one of the best movies ive seen in a while!". Then they started to reveal the cause and bring in the religion aspect. The film could have gone in so many directions yet thats the one they chose. To me the religion part is kind of a cop out and boring, but all in all the movie was still good to me.
The movie starts out with julianne moores character being a shrink who is trying to prove that multiple personalities are not real. Her father gives her a new case, and weird shit starts to happen. The first couple times he changes its creepy as fuck! I got a screen cap which was posted at the beginning of this review. His two known personalities are someone who apparently committed murders? and another who is handicapped? I dont remember exactly, the personalities thru out the movie are sometimes hard to keep straight. Moore investigates and finds the crippled guys mother who informs her that he was murdered by some satan worshipers or some nonsense. Then she take the mother in to meet the patient. They call out her sons "personality" and he gives evidence that it is in fact him. At this point the movie is pretty scary still and has you going "wtf". The whole time as a side part of the plot people are getting sick and spitting out dirt then dying, whatever... There is about 10-20 mins of "ok now im confused wtf is going on"... but once it spells it out, you think hmm that makes sense but for me i felt a little let down. Dont get me wrong its still a pretty cool, unique concept, but too skeleton key for my tastes. I dont want to give many details away because I somewhat still highly recommend this movie. The ending was also different not what I expected and im still not sure how i feel about it. So all in all id give this movie a 6.5 out of ten could have easily been a 8.5 had the second half not fell so hard. It was almost like two different movies to me but I do still think its worth a watch. Since it is so easily available in certain places Im not sure how an american theatrical release would do, but I do feel like the movie is worth it. It had an expensive feel and I think it would do pretty well in the states.

The Signal: One of the most underrated and over looked horror movies.

Once we get a full fledged site up, we will feature a section for movies that are underrated and over looked but until that happens I will just post them randomly to inform some of you who may have not actually seen them. If you disagree that these movies are worthy of this list, comment and let us know why. Today I want to give credit to a movie called The Signal from 2007 (IMDB LINK). Maybe I was really out of the loop but I didn't hear much about this movie during its release. I got a copy of it a year after and was very surprised with it. I really liked the concept, the acting, and almost everything about the movie. It IS a pretty gory film but done in the right way. I dont consider myself overly "squeamish" but I would take a physiological thriller over a slasher any day. The Signal makes you feel uncomfortable with some of the violence, but is for a good reason, which is the protagonists survival.

The Signal starts out with these two people in bed and in a short but intense scene shows you that they belong together and truly love each other. The chick leaves the apartment to apparently return to her real husband/boyfriend, but dont worry he turns out to be an asshole. The movie isnt slow to start either so those of you with adult ADHD dont worry. It gets into the gore right away. You quickly learn that the world is going crazy and becoming homicidal due to a mysterious signal being sent thru all tvs, radios, etc... hence the name. The two that were meant to be together(main characters from the beginning) are obviously separated during the chaos and the movie is, them trying to find each other while not dying. There is some dark comedy thrown in with the gore and its pretty edge of your seat for the entire movie. I highly recommend this film and feel like it should have had way more exposure even with such a small budget. Fuck main stream hollywood and the remakes of foreign horror they crank out and always fuck up. Watch this movie you wont regret it! However I should warn in my case when someone talks a movie up so much I think that I like it less out of spite. So just go into this, and any movie with no expectations and an open mind. All in all I would give The Signal an 8.5-9 out of 10 rating.

Here we have a trailer for the sequel to the 2008 movie Mirrors. It of course titled Mirrors 2. I personally found the first one to be decent at best, but still decent. I think mostly because it had some gnarly death scenes and came out in a time when there were few horror movies coming out and the ones that were sucked giant donkey dick such as Saw:5hundredmillion, Quarantine, The Happening, you get the point. Part two, from the looks of it, seems to be on the same level. Maybe it will be a couple notches down due to the fact that its going straight to dvd like an unnecessary Disney movie sequel (Aladin 20: Abu's tripple bypass). I might catch it in passing or on streaming netflix and throw up a review. Either way heres the trailer, sound off and let us know what you thought of the first one and this trailer for the second.

This is pretty exciting, I think its safe to say that part 3 and 4 of REC are in fact on their way. From what I understand REC 3 will be called REC 3: Genesis and actually be a prequel (see the rare teaser trailer below). It should explain more about what lead to this "infection" and explain the little girls history. Looks creepy as fuck I CANT WAIT! Also REC 4 will carry the name Apocalypse and take place after part 2, showing what happens in the city once the virus is loose. As soon as I get a teaser for part 4 I will post it! For now enjoy.

Ive gotten word that they are working on a part 3 and a part 4 to the amazing spanish REC movies. If you havent seen them check them out. They are some of the best horror movies ive seen in a while. Usually I would say oh god dont make sequels to good movies, but this is generally just a rule for American movies. I actually quite enjoyed part 2 of REC and wondered if they would make more. Im not sure what direction they will take it in but im very interested in finding out. Also on a slight side note, America tried to remake part one renaming it Quarantine. Needless to say it FUCKING SUCKED, stay far far away. Just a few quick reasons, the acting, the overly shakey camera work, and the lame ass version of the monster at the end. So keep your eyes out for part 3 and 4 of REC they should both be out with in the next couple years hopefully one as soon as this year.

This is pretty exciting. Like case 39 this is a seemingly American horror movie with American actors, yet it has been released in other countries and not really scheduled to be released in the states. Well there are rumors of December of this year but nothing set in stone. Its odd to me that this is more common than people realize. Finding these hidden movie gems is pretty fun, I need to make up a name for the category to put these in. "A list underground"? They do have some pretty huge named actors. Now as far as the trailer. It looks decent, I loved the ring (part one anyway), so hopefully this is good too. We can only wait and see. I can say that I do like Julianne Moore as an actress even in the past thrillers ive seen her in. Keep your eyes peeled for this, if i end up "flying to Germany" aka finding a bootleg JAY KAY. I will give you a full review.

This review is for a movie called case 39. It stars Renee Zellweger, bradley cooper and Jodele Ferland, you know the little evil bitch from Silent Hill. This movie was filmed in Canada in 2006 and had a release date of aug 2008 but has yet been pushed back multiple times and now isnt even scheduled for an American release. It has been released in the U.K. among other countries and after seeing it myself I really am not sure why its having so much trouble getting American support. I think it would do pretty well, watch the trailer yourself. I thought it looked like a pretty intriguing movie from the trailer alone. Again I flew to the UK to watch it or some shit like that.. but from what i hear you can find a copy online if you dont want to wait. Anyway here is what I think of it.
First off this to me isnt a Renee Zellweger type of movie at all but I like that! Her face annoys me but I like to see actors step outside of their typecast roles. She did a pretty damn good job in this also. The acting all around was pretty good, even the little evil bitch. The main problem I had with this movie was the lack of explanation. A few scenes felt like the ring, where they go back and talk to the parents but in this the parents didnt have answers. They were just kinda like, shes evil kill the bitch.. I think he pretty much said she was that way since birth? I would have even liked something small and vague like "oh we went camping and she disappeared then when she came back she was different".. ANYTHING! I would have givin it an extra star because that small detail would have added so much more to the feeling of it. But all in all it was a good film.
It starts out as a regular Renee Zellweger movie where she plays a case worker trying to save kids from troubled homes. She is stressed and bogged down with cases but her boss throws one more her way Case 39 (hence the name..). This case will be special tho. She goes to the house to find out whats going on and the parents are super weird and uncommunicative so she goes back and tells her boss to call them in for a meeting at the office. There the girl tells Renees character about how she hears her parents saying they want to send her to hell. They try to get a statement from the girl but intimidate by her fathers stare she wont give it. Later Renee gets a call from her saying something about her being in trouble and she was about to fall asleep, so Renne speeds over with the back up of a police friend to find her parents doing something pretty cruel to her, i dont want to give too much away. Needless to say the girl is taking into custody and put into foster care but begs Renee to adopt her instead, days later she gets the go ahead and takes the little bitch into her own home. The first 20-30 minutes have this build up between the two characters and its kind of an AWWWWW situation. Soon after you realize something is not right and people start dying.
Is she possessed? Are there demons following her? You decide. But I can say this movie had a few moments that gave me chills. On the other hand it had a few moments that should have given me more chills. I was very satisfied with it in general but I feel like they should have done a few things different. I have to say the fact that this movie is unreleased makes it a hidden gem in my eyes because it was pretty damn good. I would give it a 7 stars out of 10 and like i said earlier it could have been easily 8 if there were slightly more of a story. I do highly recommend it to any horror fan and hope it sees the light of day in the U.S. and not as a made for tv release, I feel its strong enough to get a theater release for sure. This post is a Preview/ Review all in one. First heres the trailer for you guys.
La Horde Is a zombie movie from France. Directed by Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher, this film was originally released on August 28 2009 in London at a filmfest. IFC bought the rights for a US release and its now scheduled for release here in the states in Aug of this year (2010).

Now for the review. First off I was able to see this on a trip to London or something like that, but from what i hear Netflix should have it as well, there might be a banner above to search for it. Or just wait for its release in the states, it should be open in theaters in Aug, or thats the story so far.
This movie WAS GREAT! The trailer made it look good but I have to say this is one of those rare cases where the movie is better than the trailer even shows. First it starts as an action/mafia type movie. The opening scene is of a corpse in a waste pile with someone staring at it. Then after the funeral of the assumed corpse it has some short dialog between some old french mafia whore and some french qweedos. At this point it seems vaguely that there will be a revenge mission. It progresses quickly into I believe 5-6 of these same characters, who you find out are cops, going into a beat up ass section 8 building complex. The building to me looked just like the buildings in the UK artist kosheens music video "hide you". France and the UK must have some nasty ghettos. Anyway, this sets a pretty good tone for the rest of the movie. I was never really sure what they were going for, It sounded like to find a person or a group of people to save? But they are quickly met with opposition.
The bad guys kill a couple good guys and hold them hostage. Then out of no where.. ZOMBIES! Everyone dead starts turning into zombies.. This was my only big issue with the movie, why the fuck.. Thru out the movie there is really no reason given why everyone is turning into the undead. The movie itself made up for this by just shear action and special effects. There are a couple scenes where they literally fist fight and kick zombies ass. I know it sounds stupid but its pretty bad ass, and when you see it you go, "yeah kick that zombies fuckin ass, cause if a zombie attacked me and i didnt have a gun id kicks its ass too"! I mean really why not fight back.. The chick fight scene was the best for me, just watch, i dont want to describe and ruin it for you. There are a couple antagonists.. nothing out of the ordinary or over done. The zombies arent super human fast but they are able to run. There is a crazy fat guy who has war flashbacks and keeps calling the zombies chinese, I found this slightly racist but funny.
The special effects were pretty, no VERY amazing. There were a couple parts like the distant night shots that were slightly cheesy but not terrible, and the gore special effects very much made up for it. There are a couple head shots that look real, and there are a couple bloodbath scenes near the end that are pulled great also. This is by far one of the bloodiest movies ive seen since "dead alive". The most memorable to me was the face smashing scene. Face smashing has always been super disturbing to me, in pans labyrinth for example. But pans face smashing scene has nothing on this. The fact that its a zombie makes it easier to watch but still hyper violent none the less and the special effects make it look very real! I didnt find the soundtrack over powering at all. You know how you see some movies and you just think okay this music is way too dramatic. I infact dont remember the music much at all, which to me is perfect im sure it was there and added to the atmosphere however the movie didnt rely on it to be effective. Now for the end, It was okay.. Part of me hated the ending just because maybe i wanted the movie to keep going im not sure. Also part of me loved the ending because it wasnt what I expected. But I can say I expect a sequel. There for the ending was okay, could have been better but wasnt bad. And the movie was so good the ending almost didnt matter to me. Out of 10 stars id give this a 8, would have been an 8.5 if i loved the ending. Definitely worth seeing! Also note this movie is in French with English subtitles which i dont mind. Also it sounds like the American release will be the same and im actually happy about this. Im sick of America remaking movies, write your fucking own!
