Transportation inside Slovakia

Train travel  remains very good and frequent, especially to areas most visited by tourists and other foreign visitors. It has certain drawbacks, including somewhat older trains, but is maintained very well, with a safety record far exceeding those in most western countries.

Towns and villages which are not on train lines have at least some kind of intercity Bus or Coach connections. Buses make required rest stops approximately every two hours.

The river Danube - flowing 2,780 kilometres from its source in the Black Forest of Germany through the Romanian and Ukrainian Delta to the Black Sea. Together with its numerous tributaries, the Danube comprises together parts of 8 of Central and Eastern Europe. Bratislava receives an average of about 650 mm (about 26 in) of precipitation annually. In areas of high altitude, snow is often present for as many as 130 days each year.

In Slovakia there are about 4 thousand caves, 14 of which are open to the public.
