My Review:

This book starts out with a break-up, which is not the way you expect and I liked that. It immediately catches your attention and makes you want to keep reading. This story is basically every little girls' dream.... meeting a prince and falling in love. This book is filled with romance, drama and a little heartbreak. Hauck is a great writer and the characters are so relatable and enjoyable.

I definitely recommend this book to women who love a great modern day romance.

My Review:

This book weaves together three womens' lives around a church. They each tell a different story. They each have differences in their marriages, with children, in their personalities and in their walks with God. We can each relate to one of them or some parts of each of them. That makes this story so relatable. There is drama, love, romance, Christianity and life in general. The way we perceive women to be-having it all together, living the perfect life, etc. is not always or even usually how it is. This book shows the other sides... the real sides to the story and examples of women who surround us. This book would make a great "beach read" and is easily put down and picked right back up.

I recommend this book to any women who enjoy easy reads about the ups and downs of life and the struggles we all face as women in today's world.

My Husband Doesn't Want Me To Work

I've finally come to that conclusion.

He doesn't want me to work.

Oh, he likes to mention job opportunities to me... usually ones that I am not qualified for, but he really wants me home.

I've nannied before and that seems to work out the best for me, but now being pregnant and having Kassidy also I don't seem to be a super attractive potential nanny, which I understand.

Anddd.... really Mike has been ok with me nannying because 1) the money is pretty good 2) the hours have worked out well 3) we were either at my house and/or their house was close-by and 4) we have been blessed with some pretty good "employers" (and then there were the craaazzy ones).

I just recently quit my awful job about 2 months ago and while I miss the money tremendously, I am so happy to be back home when I should be as that job was in the evenings.

I don't really know if Mike would completely admit that he wants me home, but I know it.

He likes me home during the day since we homeschool and are adding a baby to the family that will not be going to any childcare places.

He likes me home during the day also because it makes our evenings (usually) less chaotic.

He likes me home at night because he likes me home. Hahaha. He loves to watch tv together, eat together and just be together. Plus, we have activities in the evening like sports, etc.

So although we would absolutely love and really do need the income, my being home is more important.

I've looked for jobs and been offered jobs in the past year or so and it does nothing but create fights between us. Either it's too far, it's not enough money to be worth it, it's a "strange" job, it's hours he doesn't like, etc. etc. etc.

Being home is where I feel I should be and if something comes up to make some money in a way that we both agree on that would be a huge blessing, but I really feel like being home is the biggest blessing ever. :)

What about you? Do you work outside the home? How does your husband feel about it?

My Review:

I think that I read the back cover of the book wrong so all along my reading I kept expecting something, that I thought I read, to happen. Haha. It never did. I definitely think my version would have been a little more exciting, but definitely would have added some probably not normally appreciated drama. The book was very well written, but did lack a little bit of excitement. It was a great story with a great plot line. I read the book cover to cover in one night so it definitely makes for a good read. Part of that, again, might be that I kept waiting for this dramatic twist that I thought was coming! I definitely recommend this book to women who like some romance, drama and mystery.

My Review:

I am not a summer girl. I love the fall and winter. I guess I would take a month or two of very hot weather and then fall or winter would be awesome the other 10 months of the year. These books did make me feel more summery. The beauty in the books was great and the relationship between the sisters was wonderful. I definitely can relate to that part of the books since I have three sisters. The books would be great beach reads or just great for a day at the pool with the kids. I prefer a little more romance in the books I read, but I still enjoyed reading them.

I recommend these books to any woman looking for a great, easy summer beachy read.

My Review:

I had heard many things about this book and it had been recommended to me several times so I was very excited when the opportunity came to reivew it. I love that this book is short and sweet. It is not a huge, daunting book. I love that there are stats and polls in the book since I love that kind of thing. This book is well written and full of useful information. It is nice to read why and how most men think and feel about certain things. Of course, my husband is the exception to at least one "rule" and that makes things interesting.

Overall, I recommend this book to all women who want to further their knowledge about the men.

Those situations sound hopeless... like we were only given lemons. But, God can make lemonade out of anything! He works hard to make lemonade for all of us, every single day. So often, we do not realize the beauty that has come from our pain and we miss an opportunity to see God's amazing work. This book helps you see the lemonade in people's lives and hopefully will help you see the delicious, amazing, wonderful lemonade God has made and will continue to make in your life!

The stories are short and sweet at only a few pages each so you can always pick up and stop quickly. I recommend this book to everyone.

My Review:

This story makes us all consider what we would do if we were in the main character's position. Meg is faced with an enormous trial in life and in the beginning she doesn't really do what we are called to do as Christians, but would we be able to act any differently? This book is a good read and is not so easy to put down. It challenges you to think about how you would react to losing a loved one and if revenge would follow.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes a great "beachy" read. It isn't an easy book to read in that it's not all rainbows and smiles, but it is a capturing book with real issues.

Sharing the Kicks

Our little frog, aka Rylee, aka the baby in my tummy, is quite a mover and kicker. I am not at all surprised as Kassidy was also.

I pretty much have this girl's schedule down. I'm thinking she might, unfortunately, not be the amazing morning child that Kassidy is.

She might be more like me... anything but a morning person. :/

We will see.

I first felt Rylee move around 14 weeks.

At our 22 week appointment, Mike barely felt her move in my belly.

The past 3 weeks have consisted of me constantly grabbing Mike's hand to try and feel her, with no success and to the point of Mike thinking I was crazy for thinking he could feel her kicks.... they could only be felt from inside.

Untilllll.... two nights ago, at 25 weeks. He felt her kick a couple times and tonight he felt her give a few really great ones!!

She is a crazy mover!!

One minute she is bouncing on my bladder. The next she is kicking my ribs. After that she kicks some right in the middle of my belly. And of course, there are those that can be felt on complete opposite ends. I have no idea what she is doing in there!

Wouldn't it be cool if we had clear bellies? Ok, maybe only during pregnancy. And maybe only the ability to see our growing babies. Not everything else. :)

My Review:

Who doesn't want to lead their family like Jesus would? I know that we do, as parents. I loved this book! And look at the authors!! They are definitely leaders and people who I can learn alot from. Of course, there were bigger issues that the book dealt with, but I think my favorite parts were when they discussed the little issues, that turn into big issues. I really learned alot from this book and plan to read it over several more times. It is definitely a great book for every single parent to read, whether you are Christian or not. Every idea is great for every parent and does not all have to be taken from a religious point of view. Excellent book for every parent!

My Review:

This book was like none I have ever read. It told the story of Jesus from a completely different angle and point of view. I learned so many things from this story about the time when Jesus was on earth and about how certain people viewed Him. This book was such a great read before Easter. The story is great and what is even better is that it is true... of course, we don't know exactly what Lazarus thought, but this book does a pretty great job at telling everything as accurate as possible.

I recommend this book to every Christian. It is wonderful to hear the story from this point of view. You will be inspired!

My Review:

I really enjoyed this book because it was told more like a story. Each chapter is filled with others' stories about surviving in the midst of tragedy along with references from Sheryl's life. It is not as easy to read "self-help" books about tragedy and getting back up, but this book helps you deal with issues that you have had come up or issues that might in the future. This book is a really easy read and is so relatable.

I recommend this book to everyone. The stories are wonderful and everyone can see their own struggles within the book somewhere.

My Review:

While this is not the normal type of book I read, I could not stop reading this one. This book would make such a great movie, as it never has a dull moment. The plot of the book basically encompasses one of my worst nightmares-to be accused of murder and have no way to really prove my innocence. I also totally love that a retired physician wrote the book.

If you are looking for a great suspense-filled book to read, that you won't want to put down until the end, this is the book for you. I think that my husband will really enjoy this book and it is now on his list to read. Maybe you should add it to yours?

My Review:

This is a great, great book, but also a very sad book. Luckily, there is hope for all of the ones in the stories. There is hope for us all. This book tells the story of those whose needs are basic and are not being met. This book made me cry and cry. It also reminded me that simple actions can make a huge difference in the lives of those around us. Big actions are needed very often, but little ones can also add up. God loves all of His children and I imagine that these stories also make Him cry.

This book is written so that younger children (8+) can also read and be touched by these stories. I recommend this book to everyone over age 8. My daughter will be reading it soon, as well.

I absolutely loved this book! I really look forward to owning the other ones, which include Having a Baby, Having a Toddler and the Gradeschool Years. Why a Christian mama's guide? I love that Erin addresses why this book is for Christian mamas. She says it is because we also deal with the trials and successes of wanting our family to be the way God intended it to be. We want our families, above all else, to become more and more Christ-like. Of course, our bodies are similar and our lives change in the same ways as non-Christians during a baby's first year, but why not get the info and help from a sister in Christ? This book is so much more uplifting, inspiring and helpful because of the Christian background it has.

I definitely recommend this book to every mama with a little one already or a little one on the way!

My Review:

When I read about this book, I instantly thought of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Why? Because of the candy making and Truly Scrumptious. Was that her real name or just the song? Anyways, who wouldn't enjoy a book about a candy making family? This book was filled with all of the usual romance and drama that I enjoy reading. Lucy is a strong, independent woman who is a great character. Charlie (not to be confused with the one from the Chocolate Factory) is also a great main character. I absolutely love when an author switches between the points of view, as Mitchell did in this novel, between the main characters!

I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a good romantic novel. This one does have some great periodic fun in it also.

My Review:

I have got to say that the cover is extremely boring and really did not make me want to pick up this book to read it. Yes, I judged this book by its cover. But then, I opened the book and read it. This book is packed with Scripture. Almost all of the book is about how we are viewed through the Bible, which was a different direction that I thought this book would have. Only the last few chapters of this short book are about how we can show or become the women God intended us to be. I definitely appreciate all of the references and discoveries about us, women, from the Bible, but I did wish there was a little more practical application tips and ideas. There definitely are other books for that so if you have those and are wanting a strong base for your journey toward Biblical womanhood I definitely recommend this book for you!

I am such a sucker for a good deal!

I try to remind my husband how much money I save our family and how I am much happier with much less than most women.

We do have to remind our husbands about what we do contribute when we lack in other areas... ahem... housekeeping.

Sooo over the years I have found several websites that really, really help me save and make money. I thought I would share and give a little info about each.

To Make Money:

My Points- You use this site as a go-through when shopping online. So you want to shop online at Gap or Old Navy? Great! Go-through My Points and you get 8 points per dollar, plus they show you active coupon codes! Points are redeemed for gift cards they mail to you or paypal transfers. You can also print grocery type coupons out from here and get 10 points per redeemed coupon.

You also get 5 points for almost every email they send (about 4 per day). The emails let you know about special deals, etc. like ink purchases... about 250 points just for a small purchase of ink.

---I have earned 22,357 points in the last few years (3 maybe with that email) that I have had an account. That is approximately worth $160. And for what? Really not much of anything.

I just started using Swagbucks about 6 months ago and even then I was not using it very regularly. This is another go-through site. You can also earn lots and lots of swagbucks by doing surveys and by just searching the internet. I earn at least 10 every day by just searching. 500 bucks is equal to $5 in gift cards. You can also print grocery type coupons out from here and get 10 points per redeemed coupon.

---I have earned $65 in gift cards (that are sent as e-cards for you to print off) in that time. Now that I work it more, I earn about $15-$20 per month and am working on making that even more.

Pregnancy Update! All Around Wk 21

Oh, week 21, how my heart is so grateful that I am here.

Every single day, I think, "Well, if something terrible goes wrong with my body and we catch it in time, we are a little bit closer to being able to have a live baby."

We still have a few more weeks before she could even possibly make it out in this world.

(knock on wood) I think my body really handles pregnancy wondefully. Sickness is so much better than so many women have it.

My issues every pregnancy:

-sharp ligament pains pretty much throughout the whole pregnancy

-my sinuses go insane

-first trimester complete exhaustion where I choose sleep over anything

-first trimester extremely tender breasts where I set up a baracade with my arms 99% of the time

-this pregnancy my tailbone and back have been hurting quite bad

Overall, though, I feel great and love being pregnant (besides the constant worry).

I am not sure that I will ever feel "out of the danger zone" since we were pretty far out of it last time and we still lost our baby Paisley.

I truly, truly, truly cherish every single movement inside. It means that she is still here and alive! And, yes, she is definitely a she!

These top 2 are from March 5th (18 weeks). This girl seriously likes those legs stretched out!!

This is two weeks later... and Still stretched out! She really is taking advantage of the room right now. Soon, there will be none! I am calling her my little froggy. :)

She even had her legs stretched out and crossed at the feet. (They are not crossed in this pic)

The dr at our 20 week super in-depth ultrasound basically did a complete anatomy lesson. He listed almost every single organ and said it all looked great! We are so blessed and so thankful!

My Review:

This book hits very close to home for me, as I have struggled with infertility. This book is not written to specifically tell Lesli's story. I saw it more as a resource book, as it does have prayer topics, Bible verses and tips for family and friends. I will definitely keep this book as a resource to look back on when I am struggling with our infertility and loss. I am pregnant and although I am not currently struggling with infertility, because I have in the past (for years), I can relate to this book and I feel I still need the healing help that this book can help bring.

I recommend this book to everyone who is struggling with infertility or who knows someone who is. Infertility is such a crazy awful thing that affects so many women, yet those who haven't struggled with it either don't know how to handle it or don't realize how huge of an impact it has on one's life.

My Review:

I enjoyed reading this book. It was an easy read that starts with a great comedic scene in church. The book is filled with several uncomfortably funny situations and lots of romance. Of course, there is a choice between two men for the main character's heart. I really like reading Christian romance novels and this historical romance was a nice read.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a nice Christian romance that is filled with a little comedy.

Can you see the future??

I cannot. I am definitely a dreamer... I could sit and daydream all.day.long. Really. I love daydreaming.

But, what I mean is can you visualize and imagine the future?

I really have a hard time in that area.

Like this baby. I really don't see the day when I get to take her home... not because we lost a baby, well maybe a little because of that. Or a lot because of that. I don't know. But I can't.

It doesn't just end there. Or I guess it does end here, with this week or month. But my lack of seeing the future doesn't end there.

Ever since I had Kassidy, I have always worried about who would get her if Mike and I died. I really take that decision seriously and feel much relief since we made that decision. (total random awkward thing about me: I actually ask everyone this question. Randomly. At family events. At baseball stadiums. At Christmas. You name the place or event and I'll ask. It seriously is that weird for me.)

It is just really very almost impossible for me to imagine actually growing old and watching my children grow up. So badly, do I want to grow old with Mike and watch our grandchildren playing in our yard with our kids by our side, but actually feeling like I will is a totally different thing.

Is it just being young and naive? Like when I think I actually might be able to run straight into that cement road block and just walk away with a little whip-lash. Man, I am making myself sound craazzzy! So I guess not only do I think I can't die from certain things (I am sitting here laughing) but I also don't know if I will get to live much longer.

Maybe it's not that I won't live much longer. It is more like I just have no idea what the future holds, which, guess what, I don't. And I have to be ok with the fact that God does and He really wants the best for me and my future.

Can you see the future? Do you really feel like you see your future tomorrow the same way you see your future in 5 or 10 years... is it clear? Are you at all crazy or is it just me? :)
