The Catholic Church seems to have an interesting take on women… Nuns are not lay persons or clergy. They are “professed religious,” as are their male counterparts, Christian brothers. There are three categories of involvement in the Catholic Church: clergy, professed religious, and lay. Women are still forbidden in one category: clergy. But why? On this hour of “All Sides,” we’ll take a look at the evolving role of women in the Catholic Church.

In April, the Ohio House passed Bill 473, which approved new standards for withdrawing water from Lake Eire. Opponents say the bill does not protect the natural resource, while proponents note that the withdrawals will be regulated under the Bill. As the bill continues on to the Senate Floor soon, we’ll look at the two sides of the issue, as well as the seven issues facing Lake Erie in the future.
