I'm basically always on the run and as much as I'd love to wear heels 24/7, flat shoes are more practical for busy days. Thought I'd share my 'errand day' outfits (i.e. comfort-over-anything wear).

The Merrywell

Crown Metropol Casino Complex, Burswood

After wolfing down what we ordered (Steak Frites, D-Man and G-Mac BLT, The Merrywell Angus Burger, Lollipop Buffalo Wings and the Wagyu Beef Chilli and Nachos), I can properly conclude the food was dissapointingly average. You'd find better burgers at Grill'd.

Gorgeous gown, right? Well, the groom ditched... So I guess I'm not actually getting married. Bride-to-be no more. Jokes aside, happy end-of-exams to me! Can't wait to shoot in this over the weekend. Sorry for the quick post but I'll be back with a proper outfit soon.

Dress down a shiny outfit by plopping a leather jacket right over it. Plus, I always love a good heel but exaggerated baby steps had to be taken while I was frolicking on uneven ground... Needless to say, I gave up shortly after and switched to my over-worn bow jelly flats. Favourite kinds? The ribbon, sandal and glitter.

Am a proud fast food junkie this men's XL sweater. Felt like I had to own it even though all the other sizes were OOS. Wore this for wandering around town, getting dim-sum and macarons, then just lazing around at friends'. I wanted McDonalds but realised all I had to do was lick my jumper, hah. (Not funny, I know). Weekends with family are the best. Brother and I wanted to go food hunting but we settled for burgers at Grill'd in the end... Not sure if it was the overload of feline elements (kitty hat, Kenzo-esque tiger knit, leopard print clutch and these adorable Beginning Boutique kitty flats) but strangers loved my outfit.

Not going to lie, I actually dig this outfit. I mean, all-black would've been boring but the shredded-to-death denim really did it for me.

Anyway, we headed to Sayers Sister for brunch. I ordered the 'smoked cod croquette, poached eggs, rocket leaf and hollandaise' dish.

Unfortunately, the food was... not up to expectations. As a matter of fact, I wanted to love the place but sorry Sayers, it's not me, it's you. Aaaand, how cute is mummy Ong?

oversized cardigan

Yesterday's outfit was coordinated with me half-awake... The occasional 'I have nothing to wear' days are always a pain. Massive knit cardigan (and leather overall dress c/o MarketHQ) is a life-saver though, drape it over anything and I actually look OK enough to step out of the house.

Family and I didn't make it in time for this brunch place I wanted to try out so we settled for Mr Munchies. Of course, I wasn't complaining... I get it though, you guys are probably SICK of sushi photos so I made an effort to try out their Agedashi Tofu. Nothing fancy, I'll stick to their sushi rolls.

A cosy space tucked along the arcade that divides Grill'd and Gelare. My constant revisits (as seen on Instagram) must say something about the place... They serve generous portions of sushi at affordable prices. Skip the bento boxes though, you're better off ordering their sushi rolls. Favourites include the 'Crunchy Spider Roll' (deep fried soft shell crab), 'Spicy Tuna Roll' and the 'Mango Chicken Roll'. Their 'Create Your Own Sushi or Salad' option is nice too; I always have fresh raw salmon with inari, cheese, tamagoyaki and chilli mayo (adding potato is yummy too). The verdict? Mr Munchies Sushi: better value than most. A ridiculous amount of love, really.

skirting around

What I wore to University today (and for a sushi fest, plus waffles topped off with cookie dough ice-cream after). The flame on grid print might be too much, but more is always more.

Blue and yellow paired together can be electrifying. And attention-seeking, in a good way. I had these photos shot on the side of the road and received some waves (pretty sure they weren't rude gestures, haha) from passing cars.

What I wore to get food and go shopping with the mums. Kept my outfit simple with red and black while I accesorized with gold accents. Managed to survive without outerwear because Perth's erratic weather decided on being warm-as-hell, hence crushing my dreams of throwing a biker jacket over this outfit.

Ramen (choose between plain, chilli or spinach) is usually well done and the broth is tasty enough. Their takoyaki dish, accompanied by bonito flakes, is also worth a mention. I only ever have ramen here though, so head somewhere else if you're craving a bento box.

Who says family days have to be boring? Jumped into pastel colorblocking for the visiting of parks and a chocolate factory. Cold weather really makes life better.

My take on the psychedelic checkmate-worthy print.

I kept the outfit pretty monochromatic throughout but decided to introduce a bit of colour into the mix. Mum adores this dress and has been wanting to borrow it... Maybe I'll accept her bribe.

how i edit photos

A frequently asked question I receive would be, "how do you edit your photos?" So here's a simple tutorial on how I edit mine. Photoshop is my photo editing BFF and the process takes less than 5 minutes.

Please keep in mind there are no right ways to edit a photo, I'm simply sharing what I normally do.

I always adjust 'curves' first. Using this photo as an example, I'd like it much brighter.

Drag the curve line however you want until you achieve your desired 'lighting'. I tend to drag it up to brighten the image instead of darkening it.

Still on 'curves', let's play with 'channels'. Pick 'red', 'green' or 'blue' from the drop down menu (as above) and have fun!

For example, on 'red' channels, I drag the curve line upwards for more red, and downwards for less red.

Anyway, I settle for this. See the two 'dots'? Click at different points and adjust the curve accordingly, you'll surprise yourself!

I like adjusting brightness but if you've already done enough of that with curves then skip this step! It doesn't matter what order your steps are in, do whatever you're comfortable with.

One of my favourite tools is the 'selective color'!

You can adjust any color from the drop-down menu! I like focusing on the 'blacks' in my images.

Settled on a 'washed out' effect with less shadows. Most of the time, this is the last step as I'm pretty satisfied with the image so far.

Anyway, 'color balance' is helpful too.

I eliminate the warm 'reds' and strengthen my 'blues' and 'cyans'.

The brush tool is also great for lightening and darkening certain areas, adding color, and so on.

For this image, I use 'darken' (main palette color: black) to add a vignette effect for the corners. Adjust the opacity of your brush so you don't get such a harsh effect... I also use 'overlay' (main palette colour: white) to brighten up the area above my head. Finally, I use 'color' (main palette color: yellow) to add a yellow tint in the same area.

Way too easy right?

Don't get me wrong, we don't eat 24/7... Our weekend activities include having meaningful conversations and driving around town with Porter Robinson on replay.

One of my all-time favourite pizza places in Perth. Affordable and keeps your stomach overly-satisfied (and full). I usually have the 'Greek Lamb' and 'Red Velvet' since I'm boring.

road trippin' style

We drove up to Kalbarri over the Easter weekend, which is approximately six hours by car. Threw on a coat over a daisy knit for the first day so here are the rest of the visuals!

Day 2:

Visited Port Gregory’s Pink Lake. Parka over all-white, been meaning to take this 'Chanel' sweater out since forever.

Its pink hue is created by bacteria (Dunaliella salina), which becomes trapped in the salt granules. Really pretty huh?

I forgot the name of the place where we went next but we got to view lovely cliffs by the ocean. Contemplating cliff diving one day. Just kidding.

I wanted to sit there and watch the waves lick the rock but no one had time for that.

Breathtaking indeed. From the walk, that is... I was actually out of breath thanks to my horrible stamina. Had to cool off, so we visited the beach and rented a mini-boat to tour the river.

Cute rottweiler at the boat shed. This is her asking for belly rubs (which I did not give).

Day 3:

Weather was cool enough to stick a rude beanie over my head. I remember walking into the grocery store for a bottle of water... Next minute, stare-at-my-sweater moment. The older crowd shot me dirty looks. Cashiers smiled when I noticed them pointing. Good sweater.
