The big fight over the contraceptive mandate in obamacare is not the real issue. The real issue is Obamacare itself. To argue about the contraceptive mandate is to accept the premise of Obamacare in the first place.

I do not accept Obamacare so any argument over the details is a waste of time to me.

The individual mandate is simply unconstitutional. If the government can FORCE you to buy healthcare simply because you are alive then there is nothing they cannot FORCE you to do. It is no different than FORCING you to buy a Chevy Volt. NO DIFFERENCE!

No Common Ground

I have come to the conclusion that I have absolutely no common ground with about 50% of the US population. If you are a liberal, democrat, socialist, marxist, communist, collectivist (all the same thing, really), then our world views are so contradictory that there is no possible way we can "co-exist". I believe in freedom and personal responsibility. You do not.

It is as simple as that. Your way is winning, I understand that. If the worst should happen in November, I will "Go Galt" as much as possible until I can find another place to live. And I will encourage my children to leave the USA in order to build a better life. I don't know if such a place exists, but I will be looking pretty darn hard.

I keep trying to think about what the next few years will be like. No matter what I come up with it always depends completely on what happens on Election Day 2012.

The biggest issue is whether we live or die as a country.

If Obama is re-elected and the Senate remains in Democrat hands, we are done. Finished. Kaput. Why? Because it will mean we have reached the tipping point where the voting majority of the country wants a totalitarian government. If that happens there is no point to starting a business or trying harder. It will all just be taken from you "for the common good".

If anyone but Obama is elected and the Republicans take the Senate it will mean we have a slim chance to pull this out as a country. A slim chance given the stupidity of the Republicans, but still a chance. Then it might be worth it to build or expand a business and work harder.

But until November it is wait and see.

"Justice" Ruth Ginsburg - Pathetic

Just listen to these comments from Ginsburg in an interview in Egypt(!). From Fox News:

"I would not look to the U.S. Constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012," Ginsburg said in an interview on Al Hayat television last Wednesday. "I might look at the constitution of South Africa. That was a deliberate attempt to have a fundamental instrument of government that embraced basic human rights, have an independent judiciary. It really is, I think, a great piece of work that was done."

"Why not take advantage of what is else there in the world? I'm a very strong believer in listening and learning from others," Ginsburg added.

Indeed, Ginsburg's comments are not foreign to her overall philosophy. The justice has previously stated that she weighs foreign law as well as U.S. law when forming a legal opinion.

Look at that highlighted portions. Unbelievable! She is a U.S. Supreme Court justice who is supposed to rule on whether something is constitutional based on OUR Constitution, not South Africa's!!

With justices like Ginsburg we are completely screwed.

What a disgrace to the Supreme Court.

Second. The Taliban WILL take over immediately after the last NATO troops leave. (By immediately I mean within a few months.) The Afghan people have chosen. They want slavery, misery and horror. Well, it looks like I'll be holding my nose and voting for whatever jerk the idiot republicans put up against President Feckless. Again!

But I am coming to terms with doing it. You see, my vote doesn't really matter and won't change anything, anyway. The majority of voters will eventually pick Romney. But even if Gingrich wins the nomination, it doesn't matter. If the Republican wins in November business in D.C. will go on as usual. The President and Congress will continue to spend more than they take in. Taxes will go up - they will just call them fees, or limit deductions on stuff.

We will still be heading for that inevitable cliff.

If Obama wins, thanks to the majority looter and moocher class of "Americans", we will just get to that cliff a lot sooner.

It will be an interesting time for us all.

It is because we actually saw someone apologetically take on the media and FIGHT! We want a person who will FIGHT for our principals, not promise to "reach across the aisle".

Obama actually said something in the SOTU address I agree with!

“Send me a bill that bans insider trading by Members of Congress, and I will sign it tomorrow,” he said. “Let’s limit any elected official from owning stock in industries they impact.”

The Congress-critters don't seem to be thrilled in practice. They immediately start saying why it cannot be done. From Breitbart:

“Easier said than done is my reaction,” Democratic Rep. Jim Moran tells Politico’s Manu Raju on the subject of restricting officials from owning stock they could impact. “Unless you are fairly precise about it, you can conceivably influence almost any corporation.”

“It’s all transparent – if you own stock, you have to report it,” said Republican Sen. Rob Portman, defending the current rules governing personal finances.

“It’s a good sentiment, but it becomes very difficult to buy a mutual fund and then wonder what they bought,” Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, told the D.C. newspaper. “And many of us are trying to find some way to divorce ourselves from that possibility. It is hard when we consider so many different issues.”

So, activity that would put all the rest of us in prison is just fine for the corrupt pigs in D.C. These jerks give honest crooks a bad name.

My proposal. Immediately upon winning a election to the House or Senate, all investments of that elected official AND THEIR SPOUSE, are converted to holdings in ONLY U.S. Treasury Notes. One year after leaving office the official can then get control of their investments back. During their tenure they may not buy or sell ANY stock/bond/etc.

None of this will happen, of course. The criminals in D.C. will never allow it.

He actually said the following:

"However many jobs might be generated by a Keystone pipeline," he said, "they're going to be a lot fewer than the jobs that are created by extending the payroll tax cut and extending unemployment insurance."

So, thousand upon thousands of high paying, private sector jobs are insignificant compared to unemployment payments and a couple hundred bucks a year in extra payroll tax money you get to keep.

That is so utterly ridiculous it boggles the mind. How did the press not call him on tha.....oh, never mind.
