McGraw-Hill’s CEO Confirmed Apple Tablet With iPhone-Like Operating System

Tomorrow is a big day for Apple, as Steve Jobs CEO Apple, is going to reveal much talked about Apple Tablet.

Today McGraw-Hill's CEO Terry Mcgraw told CNBC that apple is going to reveal tablet tomorrow which will run the iPhone OS. Here is what he said in an interview with CNBC :

McGraw-Hill’s CEO Terry McGraw told CNBC this afternoon that Apple will make a Tablet announcement tomorrow, and that the device “will be based on the iPhone operating system, so it will be transferrable” — presumably referring to the 100,000+ apps that have already been developed for iPhone.

Japanese Firm Developed Polarized Film To Boost Lcd Contrast

A Japanes company has claimed that they have developed a plolorizer film which can really boost the LCD contrast by 10 folds, they have claimed that they can polorize the the plates in the LCD screens. News are that they have already started the production and are selling these polarizer screens to LCD manufacturers like Samsung, their LCD screens are already based on verticle alignment technology!

Polarizer is made from Cyclo Olefin Polymer, which makes it suitable for LCD TVs based on in-plane-switching (IPS) technology. Makers relying on IPS technology are Panasonic or Hitachi, for example. The new Zeon film inhibits the diffusion of light from the backlight. As a result, viewers get to see clearer pictures.

Its only been couple of days when Microsoft's Internet explorer was in news, not for good reasons, but for being one of root cause of war between google and China! Security hole in the microsoft internet explorer gave birth to Aurora, and in yet another news Core Security Technologies reported some more flaws in internet explorer, earlier French and German Govt. advised people not to use Microsoft explorer because Microsoft took time to fix the earlier security hole and when they fixed it these flaws came into picture!

Here was the response from Microsoft!

“Microsoft is investigating a responsibly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. We’re currently unaware of any attacks trying to use the vulnerability or of customer impact, and believe customers are at reduced risk due to responsible disclosure.”

Astronauts get Internet access in space

Well we got internet up in the space!!!

Friday 22 jan 2010 : It was reported that the resident scientists of international space station can access internet. Since Timothy Craemer moved in last month he had been working with flight controllers to establish Internet access from his orbital post. On Friday, his effort paid off. He posted the first live Twitter post truly from space.

Here is the first space tweet...

"Hello Twitterverse!" he wrote. "We r now LIVE tweeting from the International Space Station -- the 1st live tweet from Space! :) More soon, send your ?s"

Before Friday jan 22 Astronauts had to send email to the flight control base at Houston, then that was posted on twitter. Now any one from the control base can directly connect with the astronauts with their laptops or desktops.

NASA spokesman Kelly Humphries said :

"Long-duration astronauts, they commit to spending months away from family and friends. It's a pretty unique state of isolation, We expect this to enhance morale and productivity."

Now its pretty easy for these astronauts to get in touch with their families even when they isolated in outer space for months.

Creamer is one month into a five-month mission. He is sharing the space station with another American, one Japanese and two Russians. Another step into the history of Space.

A spokesman from google reported :

“We filter potentially offensive or inappropriate results because we want to avoid situations whereby we might misrecognize a spoken query and return profanity when, in fact, the user said something completely innocent,” the statement said.

So Google is just making an attempt to make its Nexus fool proof, so that next time you say some good words, its not converted into #### words...

CES : Consumer electronics show, which ended on Sunday, is regarded as one of the best trade shows for spotting new technologies before they take off. DVDs, CD players and Blu-ray all were introduced at previous shows. It is the largest event of its kind in the world.

1. Toshiba's CELL TV with gesture technology : Available: 2011 or 2012

Toshiba unveiled a prototype of a television that doesn't require a remote control -- TV watchers simply wave their hands in the air to control the menu, fast-forward movies and turn the volume up or down. Many TV makers are working on "gesture" technology for TVs, and it hasn't been perfected, but Toshiba is among the first to show it off publicly.

2. TCL 3-D TV, with 3D glasses : 2011 for commercial clients

One of the big problems with 3-D TV is that most systems, when they debut later this year, will require viewers to wear 3-D glasses. They're goofy, expensive and, some testers complain, cause headaches and nausea.

3. Blio e-reader : Late feb

Amid a crowd of promising new electronic readers at CES, this one stood out. This software application, built in part by futurist-inventor Ray Kurzweil, turns almost any laptop, netbook or smartphone into an image-rich, full-color electronic reader. Blio uses publishers' original PDF files to preserve the exact format of books and magazines while supporting interactive multimedia, including video and Web links. It will launch with an online store featuring more than 1.2 million titles. Best of all: It's free.

4. Tivit, a device that brings mobile TV to phones : Spring 2010

The Tivit, a cute, credit-card-sized device, catches live television signals -- like local weather and news -- and brings them to smartphones such as the iPhone, Blackberry and Droid.

The gadget is an intermediary step for people waiting for mobile-TV-enabled phones, and for those who don't want to purchase a new phone just to get TV on it. Tivit, from a company called Valups, uses an antennae to pick up mobile free digital TV signals from local television stations, and transmits them to phones via Wi-Fi, which it also creates, meaning you don't have to find someone else's Internet hot-spot to get a connection.

5. Samsung TV remote with a TV screen on it : 2010

How meta. Samsung unveiled at CES a television remote with its own television screen. The "All-in-One-Premium" remote, which also plays its own audio, can be tuned to different TV channels than the TV it controls. It will come with Samsung's upcoming C9000 high-definition TV, and will be sold separately, said spokesman Jermain Anderson.

6. Lenovo IdeaPad U1 tablet-laptop : Summer 2010

Tablet computers created quite a stir at CES. These mid-sized devices fall somewhere between mobile phones and laptops in the computer continuum.

7. Intel Infoscape : In market

It's not a consumer product yet that we know of, but this multitouch-screen display at Intel's CES booth fascinated us and just about everyone else who saw it. Two seven-by-seven-foot HD screens showed an ever-shifting array of 576 cubes, each representing a photo, video or other piece of Internet content pulled from 20,000 sources and more than 20 live feeds. Touch a cube, and it expanded the content in real time.

8. Palm Pre Plus : January 25

This newly announced smartphone, along with its thinner cousin the Pixi Plus, wouldn't be a huge upgrade over the current Pre except for one novel feature: The capability to create a 3G mobile hotspot for up to five laptops or other devices. The function comes in a downloadable app that lets Pre users create a personal Wi-Fi cloud on Verizon's 3G network.

9. Intel Reader : In the market

OK, so it's an expensive niche product. And we've already given some love to Intel in this article. But this handheld device that scans printed text, converts it to voice and reads it aloud seems too groundbreaking to ignore. Hold the it over a page of a book, snap a high-res image of the text and the thing will read it aloud to you almost immediately. It also can play documents you transfer from a computer.

10. Parrot AR.Drone : Summer 2010

It's a remote-controlled helicopter. And a gaming device. And yet another use for your iPhone. This flying toy is about the size of a pizza and can hover almost motionlessly, propelled by four rotors and an on-board computer. Users steer the Drones with iPhones, which act as remote controllers. A camera mounted on the AR.Drone sends a live video feed to the iPhone, meaning that you see what the Drone sees. Parrot is creating augmented-reality video games for the open-source device.

YouTube Bringing in Major Studios to its Movie Rental Service

World's no one video sharing website YouTube is working with the top studios to boost its video rental service which was started recently. There are ongoing talks with Hollywood's big studios like, Sony, Lionsgate and Warner Bros!

Youtube has suggested a simple model where it will allow the studios and film makers to suggest their own rental price, and Youtube will have its share as a cut percentage from the rentals. Negotiations haven't worked yet but its going on, and Youtube again is going to take its share from online movies watching market as well...

Facebook Revokes a Member's Vanity url To sell it to Herman International

Larry-Sergey to Sell 10 Million of Their Google Shares

Google founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin are planning to sell Five million each of their shares for next coming five years. Currently these two founders own 57.7 million shares of google which is 18% of the google's market value. Both hold 59% of the voting power as well.

After the five year plan is complete, they will own around 47.7 million shares, dropping their interest in Google to around 15% of its capital stock and 48% of its voting power. This equates to a transaction of $2.25 billion, based on the current value of a share of Google, $550.01.

This step was taken by the duo to diversify there investment.

Microsoft Fixes the Hole : Aurora

Operation Aurora!

Yes this was the operation, a security hole in internet explorer which was used by chinese hackers to attack google to get the unauthorised access to data. Now as this became a serious issue to microsoft, microft has come with a fix now. This patch will update all versions of internet explorer.

McAfee explained Aurora : In our investigation we discovered that one of the malware samples involved in this broad attack exploits a new, not publicly known vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer. We informed Microsoft about this vulnerability and Microsoft published an advisory and a blog post on the matter on Thursday afternoon.
As with most targeted attacks, the intruders gained access to an organization by sending a tailored attack to one or a few targeted individuals. We suspect these individuals were targeted because they likely had access to valuable intellectual property. These attacks will look like they come from a trusted source, leading the target to fall for the trap and clicking a link or file. That’s when the exploitation takes place, using the vulnerability in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

Google's exit from chinese market is creating question on google based hardware market

U.S secretary of state Hilary Clinton called for a review from China on the latest cyber attacks on search engine major Google Inc. As attacks on google has raised a question that how withdrawal from china can effect the hardware market using google's android platform.

Various mobile players like Lenovo, which is the 2nd largest mobile player in china and others are facing a potential instability.

Though china's major Lenovo announced that its release of LePhone in May 2010 which are based on android platforms will not be effected by the ongoing spat between the search engine giant and the Chinese Government.

Ceo Yang said Lenovo would still be able to use Google's Android software, which is open source. He declined to say whether the LePhone would include Google's popular search feature, but said the handset would come pre-installed with the icons of major Chinese websites operated by Sina.com, Sohu.com and Tencent.

Lenovo is expecting its mobile buisness to grow faster than its P.C buisness...

"I hope that Lenovo's mobile division can earn similar status as our PC business in the future," said Yang.

Lenovo sold off its handset business in 2008 to focus on its core PC business. Now the repurchase is making promising waves for the P.C giant.

Google's profit rise could not satisfy investors demand for Stronger Growth

Google's Q4 results are out and with the strong increase in profits Google's shares fell by 4%. World's leading search engine still lagged in meeting the expectations of the investors.

Expectations "got higher as they came closer to reporting and they delivered fundamentally sound numbers, but did not deliver a blowout," said Martin Pyykkonen, senior analyst at Janco Partners. "I think the stock will recover. I don't think it will fall through the floor.

"Earnings were much ahead of expectations, but top-line fell slightly below expectations," said Sameet Sinha, analyst at JMP Securities. "I think that is because cost per click was up about 2 percent sequentially, and we had been expecting closer to 5 percent growth." Cost per click is the price that advertisers pay Google when a Web surfer clicks on an ad.

With total increase of about 17% to $6.67 billion, google is the latest major tech firm to close out with improved financial results in 2009. Google's problems in China have also been an overhang on the stock, which is down about 12 percent since hitting a 52-week high in early January.

Google executives said on Thursday that the company would invest heavily in 2010 as it seeks to stay ahead in the search business that delivers the lion's share of its revenue and as it spends on initiatives to expand into new markets.

New Youtube is Out with cool looks

Youtube is new, with some very good navigation features!

Did you try to watch your favourite youtube videos today???

Yeah YOUTUBE is new, with some good new features youtube has rolled out new youtube site.

Features like easy navigation, better look and better search and faster loads. Here are some changes :

First change is noticeable when load youtube, logo is without broadcast yourself tag line. Its bit elegant now.

With a more cleaner look the biggest change is in the navigation and the next video search.

In the old version when one used to search for any video while one video is is already playing, it used to navigate to the search results page closing the playing video, but now its totally different and better, now whenever you search, the existing video will slide to left and the new results will display on the right side of the video being played.

This feature has not yet being released in several countries.

You can also change the resolution of the video as youtube has added a little button at the bottom of the player, this can give you options to watch video in different resolutions...
