Just got wind that this summer six Klondike stickless bar varieties will be getting a thicker chocolatey shell. Who doesn’t love more chocolate with their ice cream?

To celebrate the launch of these new ice creams, the company has launched some online interactive games/applications.

Check out Khaki Pants Pete – Klondike is employing the concept of 8-bit video games from the ‘80s where characters face a series of “eyebrow-raising” challenges. Chapter 1 launched this week on Klondike’s new Web site, www.KlondikeBar.com, as well as on Klondike’s Facebook Fan Page. Additional chapters of the game will launch every other week this summer.

Memorial Day Weekend Ice Cream Success

Sunday evening I finally convinced a friend of mine to make homemade ice cream with me. Since he’s a big licorice fan we used pure anise flavoring in place of vanilla. Normally I use half and half to make my homemade ice cream but I opted for whole heavy cream because it turns into ice cream faster (and I’m impatient). Next time, however, I will remember to cut the heavy cream with milk or half and half because it left a less than desirable texture in your mouth.

Here was our recipe:

32oz heavy cream

2/3 cup sugar

3 tablespoons anise flavoring

And here is what our ice cream looked like in the end:

Feeling a little nostalgic

Old fashioned ice cream? Yes, please. There are a lot of ice cream makers out there these days. I think the best ones are the ones that you can have fun with while you’re making your ice cream. While I’m still a big fan of the ice cream ball, this soft serve ice cream maker invokes feelings of yesteryear with its 1900s carnival theme. Chicken Curry Salad

You probably think you’re at the wrong blog. Why is an ice cream blog talking about chicken salad? How can that possibly relate to ice cream? Well, read on and I’ll tell you!

First, I just have to say that Blue Bunny ice cream is delicious and versatile. Their website has so many good recipes with instructional videos on it. Their recipe for Chicken Curry Salad is no exception. I wouldn’t have thought to use vanilla ice cream in my chicken salad, but this sounds so good:

“This spicy and sweet chicken salad starts with a creamy base of softened BLUE BUNNY® French Vanilla Ice Cream, mayonnaise and curry powder surrounding tender cubes of chicken breast, raisins and diced apples.”
I’m beginning to have doubts about writing this entry before lunch and without any Blue Bunny ice cream in sight…

INGREDIENTS:
4 oz. BLUE BUNNY® French Vanilla Ice Cream, softened
1 tbsp. mayonnaise
1/2 tbsp. curry powder
8 oz. cooked chicken breast
2 oz. raisins
2 oz. diced apples

PREPARATION:
Mix the ice cream and mayonnaise with the curry powder. Fold in the chicken, raisins, and apples. Use in a sandwich wrap with sliced tomatoes, lettuce or other toppings as desired, or serve as a salad.

Ben & Jerry’s Goes Global With New Flavor

Word up, Ice Cream Lovers! I’m a little late in announcing this, but I just got wind of Ben & Jerry’s new flavor: Fair Trade Chocolate Macademia Nut.

This new flavor was launched in Feb 2009 and is described as “a delicate mix of Fairtrade chocolate and vanilla ice cream, with a dairyingly delicious heap of chunky chocolate covered Macadamia nuts.”

And just so you don’t feel like you’re the only one who is “nuts” about ice cream, check out what Geoff Wannacot carved out of macadamias!!

Geoff Wannacot, from Dorchester Dorset, an expert in miniature carving, has carved a Ben and a Jerry, a tub, an ice cream cone and a cow with the Macadamia Nuts in celebrating of Ben & Jerry’s new Fair Trade Chocolate Macadamia flavor! Geoff spent a total of 38 hours creating all five sculptures in celebration of the new flavor which are just half an inch high, the Ben and Jerry’s heads were the most complex and each took around 10 hours for Geoff to carve.

It’s pretty awesome that Ben & Jerry’s decided to not only launch this in the UK, but also worldwide all at the same time! So whether you’re in the UK or the good ole USA, you should definitely head to your favorite Ben & Jerry’s supplier and seek out this yummy new flavor!
