Being able to benefit from being able to travel a large number of miles without needing to stop for fuel is one of the key features of the smart fortwo cdi, according to Richard Hammond. Writing in his column for the Daily Mirror, the Top Gear presenter indicates that it is possible to complete 100 miles per gallon of fuel if the car is driven sensibly enough. Meanwhile, the car only generates 88g/km of carbon emissions, meaning that buyers can get the extra benefit of not paying any road tax.

Mr Hammond refers to the smart fortwo cdi as the “cleanest car in the world.” He added: “If you only drive it to the fish and chip shop you’re missing out on its biggest attraction.

“It’s great fun to put £5 of diesel in knowing it’ll take you from London to Birmingham. I believe the train costs rather more.”

Furthermore, although it takes almost 20 seconds to accelerate from still to 62 miles per hour and drivers can only hit a top speed of 85 miles per hour, it is fun and feels faster than it is. The car’s unique design and clever use of space also means that a person who stands at 6ft 4ins can comfortably fit inside without feeling short of room.

Luxury Highlights the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG (S-Class)

Motorists eagerly looking forward to the UK launch of the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG in November have been told that they will benefit from vast amounts of standard luxury.  Glen Waddington states on Car Magazine that the “mechanical refinement, gorgeous finish and apparent build quality” are the areas in which the sheer luxury of the vehicle comes into its own.

Meanwhile, the addition of the AMG badge brings added luxuries such as some carbonfibre trim on the centre console and sports seats.  Furthermore, the car is kitted out in lots of leather, with the material’s subtle use on the seating compared to that expected in a limousine.

The speed of the vehicle is also something that may appeal to motorists, with zero to 62 miles per hour capable of being hit in 4.6 seconds, while “there’s always plenty of go, whichever gear you’re in.” Ratings from the magazine showed that usability and the vehicle’s feelgood factor both were worthy of being given a five out of five.  Among the features of the exterior of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG are a heated windscreen wash system, a remote boot release and tinted glass. Reliability of the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG (E-Class)

The reliability and quality of the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG is one of the vehicle’s strongest features, according to a review of the vehicle. Channel Four highlights that the use of the AMG badge on the vehicle helps carry attention to detail to new levels, with all small fixtures and fittings of the highest standard.  Meanwhile, the cabin is said to be “comfortable and well-appointed”, with life made easier for drivers through the inclusion of vast amounts of gadgetry.

Furthermore, buyers are advised that past editions of the vehicle have held their value reasonably well, with the fact that the vehicle is greener and more economical than past offerings being something in its favour.  The overall verdict of the review is that the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG has a “blend of performance and comfort” and is a “super saloon that mixes impressive performance with everyday usability.” Those interested in speed figures may be pleased that the vehicle can accelerate from still to 62 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds, while an electronically-controlled 155 miles per hour top speed can be reached.

Speed and Handling
Although there is a lot of straight-line speed to the latest collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and AMG, much time has been spent ensuring that the vehicle’s handling is also of the highest level.  The Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG comes equipped with a 6.3-litre V8 engine; aided by a gearshift time of 100 milliseconds at the head of the rev range when the Sport Plus driving mode is chosen.  However, some changes over the standard Mercedes-Benz E-Class also improve road handling.  The car has a wider, lower stance, lighter curb-weight and stiffer suspension, which all play a role in ensuring that the vehicle sticks to the road.  On the outside of the E 63 AMG, the bodystyling accentuates the dynamic external lines with front and rear aprons and two twin chrome exhausts.
