Orlandobands.com album review of catalyst:

2012-07-24T13:27:00.001-04:00

Change is good. Change is healthy. And these guys are changing it up. When they started their project in 2009, they wanted to bring something different and unique to the average rock/metal music scene. In 2010 they completed recording for their original self-titled album ‘catalyst’ which included the tracks 1-11 and then recorded later were tracks 12-16 and added to this album and was released as a ‘deluxe version’. It’s going to appeal more to the open minded listeners, those who welcome a variety of rock/metal/experimental music. It’s like hearing a scifi movie, I mean it is it’s own scientific, apocalyptic movie with it’s melancholic and dark music, yet powerful riffs and intense vocals. It would probably be an interesting find to the fans of Mastodon and Tool. It’s definitely a break from the same old metal out there today. It’s variety of musical tempos and samples keep you listening and waiting for what’s next.

The artists, themselves, are very intelligent and independent where as they self-produce all their own material with their own equipment through their own group called Monument:Productions which also consists of other close friends of the band that dedicate themselves in helping with the process.

The band consists of six members:

Erik Atkins-guitar

Scott Keene-guitar

Pat McSherry-bass

Chris Nolan-vocals/drums

Rob Coggin-drums

Tyson Mink-vocals/samples/live visuals/drums

Lamb of God's Randy Blythe gets interviewed

2012-07-17T20:41:00.000-04:00

A Czech Republic news website ( blesk.cz ) published an interview from Randy Blythe about the charges and how he has been spending his time in jail and his plans when and if he gets released back to the US.
Translation of the interview was taken from Loudwire.com

Blesk.cz: What is your recollection of the incident that happened at club Abaton in Prague during Lamb of God’s concert in May 2010?

Randy: “I don’t know anything about any sort of incident [that allegedly took place during the concert]. I remember very few details about the show, mainly because I have played a lot of concerts [before and after the gig in question]. I just remember that the stage at the club was very small, and we barely managed to fit our equipment on there. Also, apparently there was a security guard there because many people climbed onto the stage — including one small boy, in particular, but I could be mixing up details with what happened at other clubs. Since I don’t wear my glasses while performing, I see little more than blurry outlines. In any case, I did not attack anyone. The only way I could have come into contact with anyone from the audience was if I was protecting myself from [people bumping into me when climbing on the stage].”

Blesk.cz: How are you spending time in custody and with your fellow inmates?

Randy: “I read, I write letters to friends, family, and I also keep a diary. I get along very well with [my Mongol cellmate], and I am even trying to learn a bit of Mongolian. I’m starting to write a book about my time in the Pankrác prison and come up with lyrical ideas.”

Blesk.cz: Do you have reservations about cooperating with the Czech police and getting justice in your case?

Randy: “As far as the police is concerned, I believe that they have acted very professionally and followed the principles of good conduct. But in terms of justice, I honestly do not know what to expect because it is different than the U.S. I thought that if I made bail, I would be released.”

Blesk.cz: On Wednesday (July 11), you received a visit from your wife. Are you getting a lot of support from your family and your fans?

Randy: “My meeting with my gorgeous wife was beautiful and encouraging. I have received messages and support from family, my friends and my bandmates, who are all missing me, and I cannot wait to see them all.”

Blesk.cz: You have made bail, and it appears that you will soon be released from prison. What are your future plans?

Randy: “If I go back to the U.S., I will mow the lawn, spend some time with family and plunge right back into performing, so that I can pay for my legal fees. I have to help my friends earn some money so that we can live decently. If I had to stay in the Czech Republic, I would look at the sights, especially in Prague. I would follow Kafka’s footprints and I would eat dumplings.”

Randy is set to appear in court on July 19th Thursday to find out if the bail he posted will be accepted or revoked, if revoked, he could spend up to 6 months in jail.

R.I.P. PAUL GRAY #2

2012-05-24T15:15:00.000-04:00

Paul Dedrick Gray (April 8, 1972 – May 24, 2010), also known as The Pig or by his number #2, was an American musician, best known as the bassist, primary songwriter and one of the founding members of the Grammy Award-winning metal band Slipknot.

"He was kind of the person in the band that really wanted everybody in the band to always get along and just concentrate on the band. He was a really great friend and just a great person. He's going to be sadly missed, and the world is going to be a different place without him."
—Shawn Crahan[13]

Van Halen postpones 31 shows?? what the?

2012-05-18T13:58:00.001-04:00

Everyone is speculating if the band has broken up again, with 31 shows postponed, it makes me wonder.
But we could be jumping the gun a little, they still have about 13 shows they are gonna finish up, guess we will have to wait and see what all the fuss is about.
As a former crazy Van Halen fan in the 80s, I just haven't been too excited about their new shit, I'd rather remember them as they were back then.

Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch dies at age 47

2012-05-04T14:17:00.001-04:00

SHARED WITH YOU FROM USA TODAY....

Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch dies at age 47

The music world is mourning again. This time, it's because Adam Yauch, known as Beastie Boys rapper MCA, has died.

GlobalGrind.com, music mogul Russell Simmon's website, reports that Yauch died after a long battle with cancer. He was 47.

In 2009, Yauch announced he was being treated for a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland. He has undergone surgery and radiation therapy, and has not performed live since then. Yauch is survived by his wife, Dechen Wengdu, and their daughter, Losel.

Yauch was born an only child in Brooklyn, New York. While attending Edward R. Murrow High School, he taught himself to play the bass guitar, and formed the initial incarnation of the Beastie Boys with Michael Diamond (a.k.a. Mike D. ). They played their first show, then still a punk band in the vein of Reagan Youth on his 17th birthday. Yauch attended Bard College for two years before dropping out to focus on music.

The group originally featured friends John Berry and Kate Schellenbach. After Berry departed the band, he and was replaced by Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock). The group began building their reputation with a song called Cookie Puss, based around a recorded prank phone call to Carvel. The song became a sensation in New York's underground dance scene.

Two years later, at the age of 22, the Beastie Boys, now performing as a hip hop trio, released their first album Licensed to Ill on Simmons' Def Jam Records. By 2010, the Beastie Boys had sold 40 million records worldwide. The group has won multiple Grammys and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. Yauch, a practicing Buddhist, didn't attend because of illness, but his bandmates read a letter from him.

"I'd like to dedicate this to my brothers Adam and Mike," he wrote. "They walked the globe with me. It's also for anyone who has ever been touched by our band. This induction is as much ours as it is yours."

Sweet 16 Annual Leesburg Bikefest 2012
I was reading a little about the history behind Leesburg Bikefest at www.leesburgbikefest.com you can read the entire article there....
The 1st Annual Leesburg Bikefest took place in 1997 as a 1-day event with 4 vendors, canned beer, and a couple of local garage bands; with an estimated attendance of 5,000 motorcyclists. Since then, Bikefest has grown into a well-known event that hosts more than 300,000 attendees each year.
This event gets more and more exciting every year. My friends and I always bet on who is gonna show up as the main bands for next year, so far we've all been wrong, but I'm still waiting to see Ratt make it's announcement one year! ;-)
One band we got alot of entertainment from this year was Hypersona whom played at the Jagermiester stage both days, they really rocked our asses off and the big tent over the street was big plus as well!

Here are a few photos I'm sharing from this year.

Interview with Guns and Roses' guitarist Richard Fortus.....

2012-04-25T07:01:00.002-04:00

Sharing this news with you from the Yahoo group Metaldazenmore...thanks Robert!!

During a brand new interview with GlideMagazine.com, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus was asked what has been the most important thing that he has learned from working with Axl Rose. "You know, that guy has more integrity than any artist I have ever worked with, and I have played with a lot of people," Richard replied. "But he has more integrity and that is really something that I find incredibly admirable. He is all about the music and that is all that matters to him, that's what it's about and that's all it should be about. What matters is that it's the best it can be. That is how Axl rolls. He's not about the money. He is about the art of it and I think that is what I've learned more than anything."

He added, "And I'll tell you what else, that guy listens more than any other singer I've ever worked with. He listens to musicians. When we're onstage, and the songs are different every night, so he's listening to you for when you finish a phrase before he comes in. He totally pays attention and it's really cool. It's great to work with someone like that."

Axl Apologizes for not attending the rock n roll hall of fame and accepting the induction award...

2012-04-19T15:33:00.000-04:00

Axl's letter apologizing to fans and to Cleveland for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame diss
He stated to include the whole letter if sharing :

To: Cleveland, Ohio, Guns N' Roses Fans and everyone who's shown support for my decision regarding the Rock

And Roll Hall Of Fame.

I seriously didn't plan on or expect the overwhelmingly positive response and public support for my decision

regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. With such a generous outpouring of solidarity from fans, media outlets, writers and other artists, I'm truly humbled, blown away and unbelievably relieved! To be honest, I thought it would go the other way and was just hoping to weather the storm. As I said, I sincerely didn't want to disappoint anyone. It gets old being the outlaw even if "it's only rock and roll".

It took a lot of focus and soul searching to b e sincere and informative while making a genuine effort to b e somewhat diplomatic. We made, what I feel, are real efforts to learn ab out the Hall and the Board, spoke as I said with the president and various members, and though I inducted Elton John and Bernie Taupin in '94 saying something to the effect of "I'm learning what the Hall's about..."

I still don't exactly know or understand what the Hall is or how or why it makes money, where the money goes, who chooses the voters and why anyone or this b oard decides who, out of all the artists in the world that have contributed to this genre, officially "rock" enough to be in the Hall?

This isn't an attack. These are genuine issues I don't have enough verified information on to have more than rough ideas. Certainly not enough information to make any judgments about.

I would like to apologize to Cleveland, Ohio for not apologizing to them beforehand for not attending [the ceremony] in their city. I think they know how much I genuinely love performing there. Cleveland does in fact Rock!!

Now that the smoke's cleared a little, any desperate, misguided attacks have been just that, a pathetic stab at

gossip, some lame vindictiveness, the usual entitlement crap, he's obsessed, crazy, volatile, a hater. I once bought a homeless woman a slice of pizza who yelled at me she wanted soup. We got her the soup. You can get your own.

Again: HUGE thanks to the fans and to everyone for the incredib le pub lic support. My congratulations to the other artists inducted. And my apologies to the city and people of Cleveland, Ohio. I hope you'll forgive me and we hope to see you again soon!

Keep Rockin',

Axl

Unlike my open letter to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Guns N' Roses Fans and Whom It May Concern this was written for GNR's official web site, Facebook account and my personal twitter account and not intended as a press release. If anyone does choose to pick this up as has been done previously I'd appreciate if you'd run in full including this paragraph so as not to give a partial picture, have things taken out of context or to imply or inadvertently give the impression this was intended for other outlets.

Reggie: Wow, that is a strange apology, but ya know, Axl is gonna be Axl, and we love him!!

New Hellyeah song released!

2012-04-05T12:21:00.000-04:00

Just listened to the new single from Hellyeah's new album Band of Brothers which is set to come out June 5th.
Vinnie Paul had commented on this new material:
"On our first two records, we were a new band. We really wanted to branch out and expand and experiment with all different styles. We all come from traditional metal bands and backgrounds, so it was a great breath of fresh air to play in a band that was rock 'n' roll, blues and Southern rock. We got that out of our system and got really focused on going back to our metal roots. It's heavy, focused, groove-oriented and I'm excited about it."
comments taken from www.skullsnbones.com via Metal Mark

I listened to it and it is deinitely harder than the past material Hellyeah has put forth, it has a certain Mudvayne sound to it, but of course Chad is singing, I give em props to sounding excellent, but not sure I am ready for Hellyeah to switch it up, I really liked their past material, it gave me the best of both worlds.
So take a listen and tell me what ya think?

Breaking News

Pantera To Unveil New Music Video For Unreleased Song, "Piss"

posted Mar122012at 9:12 PM by deathbringer.

Pantera has announced via its official Facebook page that the band plans to release a new music video for the unreleased track "Piss," off the "Vulgar Display Of Power" recording sessions.

The band will premiere the song at the Revolver Golden Gods award show in celebration of the 20th anniversary of "Vulgar Display of Power." The music video will be the first from the band in twelve years.

Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul commented, "'Piss' is the only unheard complete Pantera track in existence. It was recorded at the same time as Vulgar Display of Power and it’s 100 percent Pantera with attitude and our signature groove! After mixing it, I can’t believe it didn’t make the record! So it’s 2012 and 20 years later and new Pantera music has been delivered. Cheers!"
